They also offer a Vegan version ( If you're into that). Went post Bristol Renaissance for a good meal & we got one; Family plus Lilly ( Daugther's BFF). Had a table prepped by Dianna who was also going to be our Server. Everything is fresh made from scratch! We ordered Nachos with Guacamole's, Pico de Gallo, and one made with corn, cheese & bread crumbs ( it's a keeper, didn't catch the real name). It's BYOB place, but they offer soft drinks especially from Mexico. We ordered, All Dinners: Jibarito, Steak tacos, Steak Tortas, (2) 12" Cheese Quesadillas, chicken with Avocado Fajitas. We waited a bit because they were made to order. Chips were all fresh home made. We got to this spot at the right time, became packed by the locals. Gonna be honest, this just wasn't a pleasant experience. Maybe I'm coming from a place of privilege in the sense that I've had a lot of incredible Larin food in my life, idk. But, here it goes: Decent location, SUPER close 6 Flags, so the idea of a good restaurant so close by is GREAT. This just wasn't that. Inside is about what you'd expect from a taqueria, really cool menu mural on the wall. Also have a qr code to scan to get the menu that way. Tons of Vegan options, which is a really big plus. I ordered the chorizo and cheese appetizer, as well as the asada taco dinner(3 tacos, corn, rice, and beans). My group as a whole also ordered chips and salsa, enchiladas, vegan jibarito, and the vegan breakfast skillet. EVERYTHING was VERY sweet. The corn tasted like it was canned sweet corn that was then cooked in sugar. Same with the rice. And even the hand crafted tortillas were sweet. No clue why the tortillas were sweet, since it should just be masa, water, and salt. The asada in the tacos were decent, but the OBNOXIOUS amount of onions on top of them made it difficult for the flavor to push through. The enchiladas bordered on inedible and had to be remade. The only reason this isn't 1 star was because of their willingness to try and correct the enchiladas, and the decor was friendly and nice. Will not be back. read more

I order from here all of the time, the food is good (which was why I kept coming back) but the only issue I continue running into is the extreme lack of consistency. Every single time I have ordered the chicken tacos and it's been different each time. Sometimes they feel like including salsa (which should be included each time), the traditional is shown on the menu to include limes, out of the 20 times I've ordered from here, I have probably received only 3 orders with the limes included. The esquites are another exhibit. 90% of the time, they put only a tablespoon of corn in, and then a ton of the mayo and cheese. Like think of the ratio 4:1, 1 being the amount of corn. It's pretty much mayo and cheese soup with very little corn. And again, no limes provided EVER with the esquites, which traditionally with a mexican restaurant, they will include lime. Each time I order, the amount of corn decreases and the size of the cup also decreases but the cost remains the same. Make it make sense. Today was the last straw for me. I ordered four chicken tacos, waited 20 extra minutes for it to be ready, even though it said only a 20 min wait. And instead of the usual SHREDDED chicken, I received weird looking breaded chicken slices on taco shells. If you can't keep food consistent, don't have a restaurant. If someone likes something, they order the same thing again expecting the same thing to arrive. I am deeply disappointed and will probably not come back. It's a shame because I ordered from you multiple times a week every week. You most likely don't care and won't fix this issue, but just thought I should forewarn customers because this is a severe problem and it continues to happen every time I order there. If you order, check the box before you leave because I can guarantee you the order is wrong. read more

I'm from Arizona and came to Gurnee to visit family. I would consider myself a Mexican food connoisseur. My best friend is a vegan, who doesn't get the chance to eat many delicious Mexican meals. When we got recommended MomCorn by a hotel manager, we ordered online. The food itself was amazing. High quality, delicious, authentic. My friend was in awe. It was vegan, but we couldn't even tell! Listen. Vegan. Mexican. 'nuff said. This place is a cute little hole-in-the-wall in a strip mall that is great for omnivores and vegans alike. I can't believe it took me so many trips to Waukegan to try it out. This is going to be new go-to for anytime I am in town on business for breakfast, lunch, dinner... second breakfast, afternoon tea....you get the idea. I got the cactus (nopales) fajitas, vegan queso, and (for the next day) the vegan burrito with a side of rice and beans. The nopales was tender and delicious, rice and beans flavorful and moist, the queso was dense and cheesy and spicy, I was in absolute heaven! My favorite though, was the vegan burrito. Tater tots inside a burrito is a GAME CHANGER. Props to whoever decided to do that. I didn't need the rice and beans on the side though because the 'rito also had rice and beans so I would forgo that next time. Also next time I will request flour tortillas for my fajitas over corn, but that's just my own personal preference. Their flour tortillas are delightful. Give them a try!! read more

I gave Mom's corn a chance as it looks like a nice and friendly establishment from the outside. Momcorn has a lot of vegan options which is a rare thing to find in Mexican restaurants, with pretty much anything you could order in a traditional Mexican place made vegan. The employees were very friendly and we had great service. My wife went with her mom a while ago, maybe about a month now, and the food she brought back to me was amazing! Super flavorful and mind-blowing! But when we went together recently, she got some of the same things and they weren't as flavorful. We were disappointed, and the prices are pretty high for what we got. Although I was pretty thrilled to be able to get a vegan chimichanga, and the loaded nachos were very good. Momcorn has great vegan options. My favorite item is the vegan flauta plate. The flautas are always perfectly crispy and include slices of fresh avocado on top. They have a rotation of fresh homemade drinks. So far I have tried the vegan horchata and tamarind water. Both were absolutely delicious! My vegan friend had a poblano taco, tamale and rice and beans while I had chicken enchiladas with the green sauce and traditional cabbage and onion toppings. Dude. I don't have the words to express how amazing everything tasted (we had chips and guacamole, too!) and the service was on point. Our server was super sweet and helpful since this was my first time at the establishment, but it will not be my last. WOAH, THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS! Fiancé and I just checked it out for the first time and we are super impressed and will definitely be returning!! New fav spot found!! Firstly, the horchata is like perfectly cinnamony. I love love love this drink. Especially when it's not so sugary! We ordered the tostones (friend plantains) and oh my gosh they are fabulous! I expected them to be sweet but they were not- a little savoury and super filling. The two sauces they have on the table complimented our food perfectly. The red one was a bit smokey, and the green was a delightfully light honeyed heat. I ordered the vegan burrito , which I devoured half of. The addition of tater tots to this burrito made it so satisfying and hardy. Fiancé ordered the chimichanga and I swear his eyes rolled back in his head on the first bite. He finished the whole thing! He thought his food was delicious. I'll attach some pics! Oh one more thing to note, they make the tortilla chips fresh to order and they were piping hot and oily when they came to our table. It makes all the difference. YUM. We are so pleased with our experience here today. The food was incredible, the environment was sparkly clean, and both waitresses were extremely friendly, pleasant and sociable. Well worth the stop! We were driving to Wisconsin back from a long traveling day into O'Hare. Wanted to stop on the way home for dinner and discovered Mamacorn via the map app and Yelp... and we are so glad we found it! The food was fresh and homemade and delicious. Tortas for me and enchiladas for my husband. Fresh salsas and homemade chips. And the service was outstanding. Such kindness! This is such a cute restaurant, run by husband and wife (i think). The boyfriend and I walked in at around 4PM for a very late lunch. No one was there except us. We decided to dine in and give this place a try. The lady was very nice and explained a few items from their menu to us. Momcorn makes home made drinks like chicha morada and horchata. After browsing through the menu and their "Secret menu,' we decided to order the Flauta plate (3 flauta's with rice and beans) and 1 chicken quesadilla. The Flauta is not too bad. It was very crispy on the outside and plenty of chicken in the inside. It has a strong corn taste with little seasoning on the shredded chicken. I personally think it needed a little bit salt. What i did not like was the strong greasy after taste (the taste you get when the oil has been reused to fry things over and over again for days) after my first bite and every bite after that. I was only able to finish one flauta and my bf finished the rest for me. I did however finish the rice and some of the beans. Those were good. My boyfriend liked his Quesadilla. He said i would probably like that better than the flauta's. My plate was not cheap. It was $9.99. I thought it was a bit expensive. I got a free Natilla for checking in on Yelp. It was very rich. Kinda chocolatey, with small tiny bites of corn/ or corn flakes in it. It looks like a flan but texture was a bit harder and jello-y. We both had a couple spoonfuls and couldnt eat any more because of how rich the dessert was. If you love mexican food, this place is not too bad. I just hate having to eat something fried and have that horrible, greasy after taste keep coming up. It ruins my appetite and makes the food taste bad. Or maybe i just have a weak stomach. Once 5' o clock hit, there were some walk-ins and phone orders. The owner was by himself so he was kinda busy. We waited for some time and finally just decided to meet him at the counter to pay our bill and leave. This place is kinda pricey for the quality and the amount of food given. I am so lucky because I live like a 5 min walking distance from this place!! Their food has been so good to me since I moved here. I usually get the tacos or the jumbo quesadilla ( and yes they mean jumbo! ) both delicious! Always ALWAYS get the salsa it makes me happy! Also their candied tamales usually go for the strawberry ones WHICH! This is the only place I can find them! So stinking good! It's dangerous living so close to this place. Still fairly new to the Gurnee area and was still shopping around for our favorite,go to take out place....we found it!!
