So We brought a large group here 15+ and they handled us well. They charged me 8 dollars to put melted cheese on my ACP which they prompted the option as free. my group feels they all overpaid for what they got so if your trying to be money conscious, your better to go else wear. if you want decent mexican food and have money to spend, you would be happy leaving here. some employees lack english so having a spanish speaker could help you out. read more

Met up at this location for a business meeting. The service was great, and the ambiance was very comfortable. They start you off with chips and salsa, which was a nice touch. I ordered the shrimp cocktail, but it wasn't quite what I expected--it was a bit too sweet and didn't come with the fresh avocado, cilantro, and onions I'm used to. Its become a go to place every time we want good hispanic food. Its fresh and savory well seasoned. From theyre staff whos always so welcoming and nice to their service and ambiance. Its a great place, and we always go. They're a Horchata is really good, definitely recommend it and theyre costillas. We get extra avocado and tortillas all the time. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Then our entrees. Everyone was happy with their meals for the most part. I ordered the steak chimichanga with rice and beans and I was not impressed. The amount of napkins it took to remove the oil from the plate is crazy and all I tasted was oil and no flavor of the steak if it was seasoned. All that extra oil really upset my stomach. I do hope this was a one time thing. Everything else was great. Also ordered the steak burrito with rice and beans, steak tacos and a chicken quesadilla. I do love the details in the decor in the restaurant the gives the authentic Mexican vibe which makes me think authentic Mexican food with all of those great blended flavors. Had dinner with my parents here and can say it's Mexican mom approved! The only con was it was pretty cold in the restaurant so bring a jacket. The carne asada was juicy and tender and seasoned perfectly. The homemade salsa was also delicious 10/10 recommend! read more

I recently visited this restaurant while visiting Waukegan and this is probably some of the worst Mexican food I've had in my entire life. I had a combination plate with a chicken enchiladas and a steak taco and nothing tasted great. All of the food lacked salt. I had never been to a restaurant in the US that didn't use salt besides in Paris, France. I was extremely disappointed. The type of chicken they use is dark meat. No wonder they didn't have any customers right during lunch time. I felt bad for the employees as they were friendly and attentive but it's not their fault that the restaurant serves mediocre food. This is my 2nd time coming here. I ordered the burrito frito mujado with chicken. It was good but I expected it to be a little more crunchier but it overall wasn't that bad. My brother order the flautas dinner and that was pretty good too. The rice seemed a bit overcooked or stale or something cause there were bits that we hard when you chewed on it. Did a takeout order today. Ordered 2 Mexican cokes, a steak taco, chicken tostada and sope plus chips and salsa. This cost about $30. Taco was missing cilantro and onion. Tostada was layered right on top of the other food so it was soggy by the time I got home. Sope looked pathetic. Didn't try it yet. Only charged for 1 Coke so only one received. I decided to take my coworker out for lunch today and have to say it was a good choice. So, let me get into it! The moment you enter Jalisco Restaurant you can feel how welcoming the staff is. It is very laid back and easy going. It will have to say it was very popping! There was a huge party that filled the entire store! That's how one knows it's good I will say! The food was excellent. I got the tortas and I did like it a lot. The chicken was very juicy and very tasty. I could tell the cooks really cared about the dish and even my friend food. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in Gurnee, Jalisco is a great place to satisfy your cravings. The service is friendly and attentive, although a little slow at times. But what really sets Jalisco apart is the delicious food. The menu is full of classic Mexican dishes, from tacos and burritos to fajitas and enchiladas. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. We particularly enjoyed the enchiladas, steak tacos, and ceviche tostadas. Frozen margaritas (I had the mango and it was delicious) and the micheladas were also good! A few cons: Dinner for four was about $100, and while the food was good, not sure I'd pay that much again when I can get similar food and quality from other Mexican restaurants for about $40-$60. Also, both my wife and I experienced stomach discomfort and frequent trips to the restroom that evening and the next day, but our sons didn't not have an issue. Overall, Jalisco is a good choice for anyone looking for authentic Mexican cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. Felt DISCRIMINATED. Came for a torta and 2 tacos to go. The waitress Maria short lady with short hair never acknowledged she was my waitress. DID NOT SAY A WORD TO ME. Marcos I believe is his name attended to me. Had to get up for my request. For water and sour cream. Again Not one word from her letting me know she is my waitress. Slammed the food down and walked away. I Understand the business and seen it was busy, but not that busy not to acknowledge you are a customer or even if you need anything else. Dining by myself. Not much to say about this place other than great tacos and quick service. Being one of the only "late night" (open later than 9 unlike most places ) spots you can't go wrong. Carne asada tacos were moist and flavorful. I definitely understand why it stays packed during regular dinner hours. I placed an online order and when I picked it up checked the order in my car. They mixed up the meat for the tacos I ordered 3 chicken tacos with one steak. They made all steak tacos no chicken. I went back in and they apologized and fixed the order right away. I got the three chicken tacos I ordered and got to keep the steak ones. I've been around here a few times, and indeed I've been impressed by their excellent customer service, quality of food, and the experience. Now their burritos can vary in pricing. Firstly there's the Mexican Burrito- resembling Bistec/Pechugas al la Mexicana (A classic Hispanic cuisine that has a tomato sauce, with sautéed onions, jalapeños, and tomatoes) with beans, cheese, and lettuce. Another recommendation is the Tapatio burrito, ribeye, grilled onions, bell peppers, beans, and cheese. The coup de grâce Id for this review their breakfast burrito, any meat of your choosing with potatoes, eggs, beans, cheese, and lettuce! This rating is a culmination of all my experience from this establishment, and overall I'd give them a 9/10- Excellent. However, my recent visit has left me somewhat dissatisfied as I ordered the breakfast burrito only to have missed the potatoes and eggs in my order. Yet, despite the missing ingredients, I enjoyed the order I made while. I consider them great in the other visits I have to this place. Jalisco Mexican Restaurant is a fairly good authentic restaurant with decent salsa. I would say that they are just average for authentic Mexican food. I have eaten here twice now. The first time I had Lengua with verde salsa. I typically love Lengua, but this one was just all right. It didn't have the great flavor I have come to love and enjoy when I typically order it at other authentic Mexican restaurants. On my second visit I decided to try something simple and ordered the Flautas, unfortunately these were also just all right. As for the service, on my first visit which was on a Friday evening it was fairly busy and took over 30 minutes to even get water. I had to ask a few times to separate individuals to get a glass of water while waiting to even put in an order. If I hadn't have been there with co workers I would have left. On my second visit again with coworkers it wasn't busy at all with only about 1-2 tables of other people and the service was very good. Overall, if you are hungry and ours not busy you can get average edible authentic Mexican food, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at this restaurant, especially if it's busy at all. read more

First time in Jalisco's. Great food, great service. My only complaint was the prices. We ordered three "lunch specials." After tax and tip, the bill was $65! Inflation? I don't care. A lunch "special" in Waukegan, IL shouldn't end up costing over $20 per plate! I could have gotten a similar lunch special in/near downtown Chicago for the same or less. No exaggeration! I got a steak burrito with cheese, avocado, and sour cream. Very skimpy and was not wrapped well enough. But the flavor was there. Good quality meat. Had only 2 cups of the green salsa, they didn't pack a red one like other places do. I also ordered a small fry on the side. They were pretty good as well not the best quality fries, but sure beats the fast food places. I paid $17.70. I was not given an itemized receipt, but I'm assuming the charge for the way I got the burrito. You tell me whether that was a good deal or not. read more

We went on a what appeared to be a busy evening. There was about a 15 minute wait. Unfortunately there was not a great waiting area, especially with 2 kids. I found it surprising that we didn't recieve any chips/salsa. I couldn't recall going to a Mexican restaurant where you did not recieve chips and salsa while you waited. The staff did appear courteous and friendly. This restaurant came highly recommended by neighbors in the area. The food was good, not great. I have been there before and the food is ok. I really like the chicken soup. Unfortunately, my experience with their customer service today was not good. We left the restaurant. We were there waiting for 20min and they would not even come to take our drink order. We were between two other booths and we decided to leave after the waitress was taking their order even even they had arrived 15min after we did. We went to a different restaurant down the street and just 15min after we left Jalisco, we're already enjoying our food. Tacos El Norte is my place to go now! read more
