Wow. My friend and I had the best experience here today. I feel like the staff treated us like family. They worked well together as a team to fill water glasses, bring out food, and clear the table. Our server, Raj, was outstanding. We appreciated the little stories he shared with us while he engaged in conversation. I wholeheartedly appreciate their vegan options that are clearly labeled. I was also pleasantly surprised that they offer lunch specials even on a Sunday. There were 2 vegan lunch special options, so I chose the first one: okra with yellow dal, basmati rice, and roti. My friend and I also split the appetizer, vegetable samosas, which are also vegan. Portion size and flavors were perfect. I forgot to take a pic before I ate the entrees, so my 2 pics are only part of the meal. The place was almost full on a Sunday early afternoon, so a lot of people must think this place is great! I also appreciated how friendly Nick, the manager, was during our visit. The only area I would improve is the decor... I didn't love it. Will definitely return for more delicious vegan food!

I wish I would have remembered to take a picture of the inside of the restaurant. The decor was elegant. The servers were awesome, very attentive. We were able to get a high chair for our little one. The food was excellent. My favorite was the tandoori chicken, it was very well seasoned. My second favorite was the butter chicken. We got there for the lunch, and were able to try a few lunch specials as a shareable for the table. The portions were awesome. I definitely recommended this place to a few of my friends so far. We will definitely be going back.

Came here with a South Indian friend and it was great! Unfortunately, he is a vegetarian so we only ate vegetarian dishes, but they were still really good. Very flavorful! The chili naan was good, the eggplant dish we had was also good. Next time, I will come back here and try out their dishes with meat. I am a carnivore. The service was good, the dining area really nice. Will come back again! BATHROOM REVIEW: Located past the kitchen, the bathroom was in tip-top shape. Inside there was a urinal and hand dryer, which all worked great. Toilet seemed to be clean, and if not, a handy toilet brush sits right next to it, if you want to take matter in your own hands. Sit or squat? Sit!

I was in town for work and craving Punjabi food so decided to check this joint out - so glad I did! The manjis outside were a nice authentic touch and I oddly enjoyed the over the top Punjabi statues. The real star of the show - the food. Both my husband and I ordered the goat lunch special which came with goat roganjosh, chicken makhani, tandoori chicken, rice, AND naan...and a lot of everything. Quality was also on point - not too heavy. We easily could've gotten by with one order between the 2 of us. How do I know? Because we ordered takeout 4 days later and shared the same dish - it was that good. The makhan on top - it was reasonably priced. I also loved that the diners around us were all Punjabi and eating aloo paranthe, makhan, and yogurt and speaking Punjabi...really felt like home. The service was great, the food was on point - I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town

Im happy that the farther we go north in Chicagoland, there isn't a lack of Indian food restaurants. I can't say enough of Maharajan Indian Grill and the delicious food they consistently offer day in, day out. We usually order chicken masala, achar gosh, one of the many curries(goat is our favorite), garlic naan, tandoori chicken and biryani. The service matches the food as they never forget a face. Whenever we order from there and my daughter accompanies us, they usually offer her a mango lassi because they know she loves it. The decor inside is also very nicely done. Consistency is important when it comes to food and time and time again, they continue to deliver.

What a happy valentine's day lunch with great service (Milton) in Northbrook, nice ambiance, and generous samosas and lunch specials 1) tandoori chicken, lamb rogan gosh, butter chicken and 2) palak paneer, dal makhani, and generous naan and rice. Very tasty start with pappadams, asked about spice level tolerance, and served water with no ice, just like I prefer. Table next to me made recommendations for my next visit: gobi 65 and paneer tikka on a sizzling plate. Will return!

I now add this to my favorites for overall good dining experience. Value, friendly staff, and great food. I've been wanting to try Maharaj Grill for some time. Everytime I search for Indian restaurant, I usually come across this restaurant located in Northbrook. I always think, how good could this place possibly be? Any case, I had it in my sights tonight, I went and I was thrilled with the experience. I'll definitely be back to try the Maharaj Grill dinner for two (spicier) So they have a bunch of dishes that you'd probably be familiar with in general. I specifically came for the dinner for two deal which is a good amount of food for my family. We loved the "mixed grill" dinner for two (we did have some non-spice eaters among us). So everything was "mild" but my kids loved it so much. The flat bread cracker (papadum?) was served with two chutneys. The cracker was light and salty, and paired with the sweet and fresh chutneys it was a preview of the tatses to follow. Then came the cart with a tandoor grill assortment of a lamb sausage w/mint, tandoor chicken, kebab chicken. A dal and butter chicken was also served. We ate and were well pleased. The food was delicious and I'll have to be back for their spicier dinner for two. That menu had fish and lamb, should be another winner based on this last experience. The staff is super nice, and very attentive to refilling the water glasses whenever they fell to half full.

The restaurant is clean, bright and inviting. One nice surprise, they have a full bar. Their menu is fairly large. And they were BUSY. They had a line from the back counter all the way through the restaurant of folks either picking up orders (from a prior phone order) or stopping in to order to go. This was nonstop for at least an hour. Saturday night definitely contributed. The food was pretty good. Solid portions, lots of flavor. Of course we ordered Garlic Naan (actually, basil garlic Naan) and it was a good portion and delicious. They only serve one chutney and one curry which I was disappointed by. I have experienced getting a tray of various curries etc. But they were "OK". Had some flavor, but honestly it wasn't flavor-full. My friend said that on prior visits it was better. We also ordered a Mango Lassi (no one had ever tried it so I ordered one so they could try it). It was really good and they loved it as well. We ordered Mango Chicken and Lamb Vindaloo. The chicken was so good and not too sweet. My wife loved it. My Lamb was ok. It was no where near "hot" or spicy which I am used to. It tasted very muted and more like an Indian tomato sauce rather than a true Vindaloo that I'm used to. Our friends meals were lamb and fish and were very good too. My Vindaloo was worth 2.5 to 3 stars but everyone else really liked theirs so I bumped it up to 4. The service was slow, but that was more likely to how busy they were. It wasn't unacceptable, just a bit slower than expected. All in all I would try it again. I would come back try the Chicken Vindaloo and tell them to kick the heat up. There are several dishes I would love to try and will try. But right now my recommendation is a "yes" for those wanting to try this delicious food, but a maybe for experienced Indian food folks that are looking for something more like home :)

Since we hadn't been here, we decided to check it out. This restaurant is located off Dempster St. in a small plaza. They serve a variety of dosas and Indian street food dishes. They also offer Indian desserts, Indian beverages, Boba teas, and Yemeni Adani Tea. The pricing is reasonable. We ordered a Ghee Roasted Dosa, and extra spicy Mysore Masala Dosa, a Spring Dosa, Mumbai Pav Bhaji, and two Adani teas. The food was served promptly. The food is served in sturdy disposable food trays along with plastic ware and hot beverages are served in coffee shop like to-go, small size (paper) coffee cups. The tea was scalding hot as it was freshly prepared. I had to let it cool off. The plastic lid of the cup was tightly fitted and given how hot the cup was, it was hard to take the plastic lid off. The lid was hot along with the cup. They had the hot cup sleeves but they were too big for their small tea cups. The tea was nice. All the dosas were tasty. We liked them. They had decent flavor and texture. They were a bit thicker than the dosas from other south Indian restaurants we have eaten at. That wasn't a problem to us. The spice level for my dosa was good. The accompaniments with the dosas of sambar, coconut chutney, and tomato chutney, for dosa dipping purposes, were nice. We really liked the coconut chutney (w/ cashews) and tomato chutney (w/ peanuts). They were flavorful. The sambar had a nice flavor (from spices & veggies) but texture wise it could've been better. It needed to be a bit thicker. The Pav Bhaji (bread with mixed veggies in a gravy) had a decent taste but it needed to be thick with some body from the usual veggies in it. The Pav (Indian bread) for the Bhaji was really good. Our experience was nice. The service was decent. We were the first customers after they opened at 12:30 pm but a short time later, the restaurant got busy. If I am in the area again, I would go back. Overall, 3.5 stars.

I enjoy spicy food, but my husband prefers a moderate level of spice. We were each able to sample sauces that met our needs, and both were very tasteful. More detailed food review to follow below. The decor is simple but the restaurant has nice murals and decor throughout (one small downside: the bathroom doors are frosted glass; while you cannot see into them, some outlines are clearly visible). Service is extremely accommodating and hospitable; we were in a hurry and the waitress sped up our order, which we are thankful for several members of the restaurant staff welcomed us and visited during our dinner to make sure we were enjoying the food and experience. Now on to the food! Amuse bouche: a tasty complementary treat composed of a thin, crispy outer shell filled with potato, chickpea, tamarind, cilantro and spice. Nice start to our meal! Samosas: a foundational Indian appetizer and this one was a hit. The mint chutney is mild and the other two are mildly and moderately spicy; extremely flavorful. The level of spice (not just heat) was perfect. Okra: very, very good. Mild heat and great spice. Crispy and accompanied by fresh tomato and herbs for interesting textures. We saved some to take with us to entice friends to join us next time. Risotto: creamy, flavorful, and comforting. The accompaniments are a special treat, particularly the pickled vegetables and crackers. The chili dal is also a nice touch. Chicken biryani: great flavor and comes baked with something like naan over the top. Great spice and you can adjust the level of heat to taste. My husband chose a moderate level of spice and was very satisfied with the attention to this request. My zero proof cocktail was a special treat, composed of cilantro and other, citrusy flavors. I strongly recommend this new Indian fusion restaurant, which caters to both American and Indian flavor profiles. We will be back, and we will bring friends!

Our server told us that all of the dishes were prepared mild and more spice could be added. We enjoyed the samosas, naan, cauliflower, dal and biryani. The only dish we did not enjoy was the wagyu, which they presented without a knife. We asked for a knife and it took several requests and about 15 minutes to get one. The Wagyu, once sliced, was gristly and fatty and not tender. We expected more. A nice surprise was they offered the birthday guest a free dessert. The tres leches crème brûlée was good, with a crackly crust. Overall, the food was delicious and a nice take on Indian cuisine. Service was cordial and could have been more prompt.
