I stopped in to pick up some World Famous English Toffee for a party, and since I'd never tried it before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was amazed by the steady stream of customers coming through the door--many of them regulars who clearly knew exactly what they were there for! The sales associate was absolutely delightful and took the time to explain the different sizes and varieties available. I also enjoyed learning a bit about the shop's history. It's a charming little store that has been around for 53 years. Although the original owner sold the business to her neighbors about a decade ago, the original recipe has remained unchanged. The chocolate-covered toffee is simply outstanding. Each piece has that perfect buttery caramel crunch, coated in rich chocolate, making it incredibly addictive and well worth the price. One fellow customer even shared a great tip: save the crumbs and mix them into homemade chocolate chip cookie dough for an extra crunchy, toffee-filled treat. I'll definitely be trying that! This is truly a hidden candy gem and a place I'll happily return to whenever I'm craving something sweet. Highly recommended! read more

Someone brought a box of the World Famous English Toffee to work. That first bite of rich buttery toffee was fantastic. Shamefully, I had several more pieces after that. I wouldn't dare bring a box of this into the house. Bad eating decisions would be made. However this toffee would make great gifts for other people! read more

I make the annual trek to pick up a couple boxes of the toffee each Christmas.... This year picked up some fruit slices( ( fresh taste), mint chocolate (perfect balance of mint flavor), toffee (always wonderful). Each the toffee within a couple of weeks for best taste. Toffee is $30 per pound, but worth a splurge read more

A few years ago, I was gifted a box of Cora Lee Candies toffee; it was life-changing :D. Even though I live an hour away, I happily drive to this perfect sweet shoppe to purchase toffee, chocolate covered peanuts and other delicious delights! I've always been a Fannie May fan and Cora Lee Candies challenges my devotion with every bite of their chocolates. read more

always consistently great pricey but good toffee was outstanding my customers love it had not changed at all

Used to love coming to this store, but the price just is shocking! $30 for a 1lb chocolate. Friendliness is so so. read more

This store never has the chocolate toffee without nuts in stock. It is very frustrating.

Their toffee used to be the best. Went up to Glenview to buy boxes and boxes and they have changed it! The toffee is about half as thick as it was when I've had it in the past. So very disappointing. Go back to what it was and stop being so cheap. Will not be buying again or singing their praises until then. read more

Excellent English Toffee. The best I've ever tasted. People in store are GREAT if you have a problem.

I love the English toffee. The best toffee around .Great service add selection of chocolates

The Cora Lee candy store is amazing! What a hidden gem!! I can't believe I have just found this store. Yes. Look at the reviews. Their toffee is phenomenal! Just the right amount of crunch without breaking your teeth. And it is always fresh. Nothin else compares. A little pricey but well worth it for a treat. Another plus is the people that work there. The ladies are always so nice, friendly and helpful. Now I know where to get any chocolate, toffee, candy or treats for upcoming holidays, birthdays, anniversaries etc. It is a MUST that you stop here for Valentine's Day!! CHECK IT OUT!! read more

I have been a loyal customer for years. Once you have their toffee, you will not be happy with any other. It is the best! I literally have to remove it out of sight or it will be my lunch and dinner. My other favorite is their Grumpies. They are loaded with pecans and just amazing. I have tried both the milk chocolate and dark chocolate ones. Can not decide which one is better. I hope they stay in business for many years to come. read more

Years of producing delicious toffee; however, under new ownership, so don't expect a free sample anymore.

It really does live up to the hype! Outstanding! Perfect texture and amazing taste! This is a quality toffee! I was in a local confectionery and tasted their toffee which prompted me to jump on and give Cora Lee the review they deserve. (Also, customer service has been top notch) Thank you! I will continue to be a loyal customer (consumer and gifter of your product) read more

OMG! I can't literally stop eating the English toffee. I will buy it for later just for myself. You know what! I'm going to stop writing here and continue eating this toffee. Try it people! You will not regret it! read more

Beware of ordering online. You may double billed and there will be no refund. When ordering online, the order did not go through and I had to call to get my order placed. It took many calls to get through and I reported my failed online attempt. The person I talked to placed the order plus two more. I was billed for three orders. The next day they processed the failed online order and bill me again, even though the order had been placed over the phone the day before. I talked to the owner today and she didn't care at all that we were double billed and they sent out two orders when we only wanted one. I see they have a new owner. Beware. They want your money, but don't care if they make a mistake. They'll bill you anyway. This has ruined our impression of Cora Lee and we will not be ordering Christmas Gifts from here again. read more

We made our yearly pilgrimage to Cora Lee candy today. We travel quite a distance, but it is a shame that we don't visit multiple times a year to stock up on the most amazing toffee you will ever have.! The stories about Coralie candy mostly spread by mouth appropriately enough and customers travel from far and wide, and remain loyal from year to year. This is a family owned business that clearly cares about their product and delivers the best chocolate ever! The owner was nice enough to let us try their version of a turtle which is called a "grumpy". Well, I'll tell you one thing I was not grumpy after I tried it ..amazing! The best chocolate covered caramel pecan treat I have ever tasted... She was correct. I will now be going there to buy "Grumpies" . If you want the perfect gift, the 2 pound box is a must. My family is a big fan of toffee and the box disappears in minutes. They are happy to ship to you if you are unable to make it to Glenview, but it is nice to make the trip and see the store which is quite charming , thank you Cora Lee for making the holidays so special. I know it's a lot of work but it's very much appreciated.!! read more

I'm a big fan of Toffee, Cora Lee's is the best Toffee I've ever eaten in my life. If there's a better Toffee out there, it outta be against the law. The texture of the Toffee is unmatched, it's soft and buttery with a perfect amount of sweetness. The carmel lifts ever so subtle off the Toffee bark. Suffice to say I'm hooked. read more

I just received my bulk order of the English toffee today. I live in California, so, alas, have only had one opportunity to visit the Glenview store. But -- thank God for mail order -- every Christmas we live for the 2 pound "World Famous English Toffee" from Cora Lee Candies. It is to die for! This toffee is nothing like the rock hard, jawbreaker variety we've all had from lesser-quality sources. Covered in melted chocolate and ground pecans, Cora Lee toffee is out-of-this-world delicious, and oh-so-easily chewable. We order it from their website and it always comes perfectly fresh. For candy lovers, this is a unique gift that, once sampled, might just start a lifelong habit... read more

I ordered a box of English Toffee for my mom and paid $10.95 for overnight shipping. My mom lives in Glenview and the store is in Glenview so I thought it was reasonable. My mom didn't receive the candy until about a week later. Since the treat was for my mom's 90th birthday, timing was important. I emailed Cora Lee asking for a refund of the shipping or at least a store credit. I also indicated that the quality of the toffee was not up to the usual standard. I never received the courtesy of a reply. I was really disappointed in Cora Lee. My mom really likes there toffee and I feel good about supplying a local business. My mom also likes Fannie May's English Toffee and Fannie May did seem to have things more organized during the COVID-19 shut-down. If you intended to do business during the shut-down you needed to make sure your quality and service aren't going to suffer. Noticed some of the other negative reviews had to do with shipping and poor customer service and not the English Toffee. I guess the solution is not to ship Cora Lee, order Godiva, they have shipping down pat. Really disappointed. read more

I was really really hoping that when my coworker recommended this place it would just be okay but unfortunately, she was right when she said the chocolate here is amazing aka addicting. Yes it tastes fantastic but even more importantly you can taste the freshness, even days after you purchased it. This goes for the toffee, the turtles (grumpies) and the assortments behind the glass. I am ashamed for not knowing about this place before, but better late than never as they say. read more
