I was amazed by the steady stream of customers coming through the door--many of them regulars who clearly knew exactly what they were there for! The sales associate was absolutely delightful and took the time to explain the different sizes and varieties available. I also enjoyed learning a bit about the shop's history. It's a charming little store that has been around for 53 years. Although the original owner sold the business to her neighbors about a decade ago, the original recipe has remained unchanged. The chocolate-covered toffee is simply outstanding. Each piece has that perfect buttery caramel crunch, coated in rich chocolate, making it incredibly addictive and well worth the price. One fellow customer even shared a great tip: save the crumbs and mix them into homemade chocolate chip cookie dough for an extra crunchy, toffee-filled treat. I'll definitely be trying that! This is truly a hidden candy gem and a place I'll happily return to whenever I'm craving something sweet. Highly recommended!

Truly a hidden gem. NC Chocolatier has always been one of those places I drive by daily and say…read morehey I'm going to stop by one day. Well that day came, and I'm forever grateful I did. Located in a small plaza and can be confusing with the Illinois Nut and Candy sign but when you walk in the sweet smell of chocolate fills the air. There are glass closures of bon bons/ truffles that I've learned are hand painted, chocolate covered everything, gelato and more. They also have taffy apples, some with just the caramel, some with nuts, some with chocolate chips. You can never go wrong! Their chocolate is kosher friendly and I'm obsessed with the cookie bark, I could eat that all day. Highly recommend going on one of their chocolate tours too that's available on sundays. Make sure you book first as I found out they do sell out. You get to learn the history of chocolate and make your own taffy apples and chocolate dipped goodies. They also ship nationwide, I am definitely going to order some goodies for birthdays coming up!

The decor in here is super cute, with all the different products being displayed in an organized and attractive manner. This alone makes this a more fun shopping experience than buying candy from a standard grocery store. At times, it may be difficult to determine the price of different items, but the staff is very helpful with helping shoppers navigate their way around the store. There is definitely something for everyone here, but this is especially good if you are a chocolate lover as there's a very wide assortment of available options here. This is particularly true if you're into truffles, with some interesting options such as jalapeno margarita, tiramisu, rum, and others in addition to the usual selection of fruit, coffee, caramel, etc. flavors. This is also a great spot to get interesting looking gifts. Outside of the usual gift boxes and tins, you'll find chocolate in fun shapes (like birthday cake), seasonal confection options with cute decorations, pretzels, nuts, chocolate pops, gummies, and more. Overall, this is a great place to shop for delicious sweets and competitive in price to other premium candy shops. If you're looking for something unique in both design and flavor, definitely come here versus going to a chain store.

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the treats available. The entire shop gives a very personalized feel while keeping a bit of an old-timey aesthetic. The worker was very kind and patient as we looked around to see all the goodies. The highlight for me is the ice cream here. I had a coffee and Oreo flavor and it was AMAZING! Once again, the quality of the ice cream was fantastic. I happened to miss the server put a chocolate malt ball at the bottom of the ice cream cone. It was such a pleasant surprise at the end of my ice cream! There is a small spot to sit outside and some other seating farther out. It's in the quiet area of Ravenswood and if you aren't taking the Brown line, there's definitely parking available. Will definitely be coming back when I'm wanting some sweet treats.

They've got everything from the trendy/viral Swedish gummies & Dubai chocolates to the more old-school licorice and marzipan. They also offer hand-crafted chocolate bars, caramels and marshmallows. For the gummies, I believe they let you sample the treats before if you're not ready to commit to a whole bag. You can build your own bag from the jars, or grab their pre-packaged ones. A personal fave for me is the chocolate covered gummy bears, YUM! It's a small shop, so it can be chaotic if it's full (for example, on Valentine's Day), but I like how approachable it is and how quickly you can be in and out. You can also buy their stuff online which is an added plus- a great opportunity to shop local but spread the sweetness to loved ones from afar.

Windy City Sweets fits the bill perfectly! They have a very wide selection of all sorts of sweet goodies! Homemade chocolates and candies, commercially made candies, ice cream, jelly beans by weight (buttered popcorn is peak, and you can't change my mind). There are likely many others, but I found what my heart was craving and went for it. Looking at their selection, there is something for everyone, even stuffed animals! (Eating these is not recommended, HA!) I suppose a candy shop has *some* appeal to the young and young at heart, so why not? I also love that they have reasonable prices, are open late-ish (until 9pm), and have friendly, welcoming service.
