    a pink and white cake

I had a fantastic experience with Sweet Buddha! I was in a crunch & she saved me with a beautiful cake for my daughters 1st birthday party. It was a bunny theme & I sent some inspiration pics & it was dead on! It tasted great & got delivered to me just when I asked. Honestly great experience from start to finish! 10 stars!!

Tonight I finished my holiday shopping for my niece and picked up a couple of beautiful gifts. The kids section contains high-quality merchandise. My hubby was literally double-parked outside, and I thought I could just run in and out, but no way. I wanted to buy the entire collection! From adorable natural cotton baby clothes to books, to stuffed animals, to toys, you will not leave empty-handed. They have something for every budget, and I think the prices are spot on for the quality. I truly admit to being completely obsessed with an adorable owl stuffed animal. Sooooo cute! Now, the best part about this store? Well, aside from the well-curated merchandise, is the owner. She's a total sweetheart and helped me pick out the perfect gift. She also gift-wrapped it in a super cute burlap bag with my choice of tissue color and a tie. Thank you...thank you. I'm so happy to see that this store is around. I need to stop in more often. Of course, not just for baby gifts, because they have grown-up goodies and cards too. Run, don't walk to this store. You won't be disappointed. Plus, it's super cute inside.

You know you have little ones at home when you pass by a new store and can't get a nursery rhyme out of your head. Yes, there's a new store in Glencoe...whoo hoo! I haven't done much shopping in town since Shirise closed their doors earlier this year (RIP), but it's fabulous to have a store where you can quickly pop in for a housewarming gift or just a little something for visiting a new baby. In the few weeks BlackSheep has been open I've stopped in twice to purchase: a) a lovely candle for the host of dinner during the jewish holidays b) a lovey for a new baby visit (the "real" gift wasn't ready quite yet) And of course I can't forget the few times my pre-schooler has dragged me in there for "just a few pieces of candy." Based on the fabulous candy display they have set up I have a feeling we'll be spending lots of time (and $) at BlackSheep. Welcome to the hood BlackSheep!

I don't want to spend $35+ on a water bottle or keychain with a college logo on it, $40 for a vinyl toiletry bag, or $25 for a dishtowel -I don't think I've ever been greeted when I walk into Ellen's, despite the fact that there are almost always four women standing right behind the counter -Even upon purchasing items at Ellen's the salespeople are aloof and unfriendly -I don't like their return/exchange policy for gifts. They base it on the date the gift was purchased (one month from that date), which has nothing to do when you receive the gift. I asked for a credit on a gift that was given to me recently but they turned me away because of the date of purchase, which was about two months ago. When the saleswoman asked Ellen about it Ellen didn't even turn around to acknowledge my presence, she just shook her head. I found it to be extraordinarly rude. There are plenty of other shops with great customer service, more reasonable prices, and fairer return/exchange policies.

Three years ago I would have been shocked if someone told shopaholic me that I'd enjoy shopping for my kids way more than myself, but it's true. I skipped the cute women's clothing and made my way towards the back of the store to check out the cute little onesies, tutus, etc for my little ones. I just so happened to be here during the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale so I got some fab deals on kicky pants PJs and other cute outfits for my son. I didn't have as much luck for my daughter, but next time we're in need for a tutu we'll be headed here. If you stop in on the 363 days the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale isn't happening it can be a bit pricey, but definitely worth checking out for the kids. And perhaps even yourself.

A fun top and jeans for yourself, a baby gift and card to match for the little one in your life, a candle for a hostess gift along with a cute sparkly card, some perfume for your sister, earrings for your mom along with a necklace to match, oh and a bracelet for your sister-in-law. Might I add, they have so much more. This is the store for you if you're looking for more of a one-of-a-kind look rather than the, everyone is wearing it vibe. When I walked in I was trying to keep up with my eyes as I was scanning everything as fast as I could but then kept looking back because I didn't want to miss anything. When I stopped in today the owner happened to be in and she was so friendly and kind, I was very impressed. She seems very down to earth and just wants we customers to walk away happy. I'm so glad I found this place. I'll definitely be back.

I was amazed by the steady stream of customers coming through the door--many of them regulars who clearly knew exactly what they were there for! The sales associate was absolutely delightful and took the time to explain the different sizes and varieties available. I also enjoyed learning a bit about the shop's history. It's a charming little store that has been around for 53 years. Although the original owner sold the business to her neighbors about a decade ago, the original recipe has remained unchanged. The chocolate-covered toffee is simply outstanding. Each piece has that perfect buttery caramel crunch, coated in rich chocolate, making it incredibly addictive and well worth the price. One fellow customer even shared a great tip: save the crumbs and mix them into homemade chocolate chip cookie dough for an extra crunchy, toffee-filled treat. I'll definitely be trying that!
