The fried pork pieces the best pork belly bites Ive ever had...they were light, yet meaty, and crispy outside, tossed in their gochuijang..so savory with a slight kick thay made me dive back in (comes in two order sizes). The salad was LARGE, with cold and crisp chopped romaine (no brown pieces to be found!!) topped with a merry go round effect of sliced pepperoni, shaved white onions, seaaoned greek olives, halved cherry tomatoes, marinated arttchokes, shredded mozzarella tossed in a vinaigrette with a slight hint of lemon capped off with a sprinkle of jalapeños. Next up my dining mate ordered the smashburger..made DOUBLE, with the most delectable garlic aioli and a side of the Mastiff fries a surprise plate of crispy salty potato skinn on wedges that are soft, seasoned well amd topped with their house sauce(yummmm..creamy and warm) and cotija cheese. The portion sizes are ample so plan on bringing home leftovers! Such a hidden gem. I've come here a couple times and each time I remember why I love stopping by for food. The service is always friendly and the food always comes out pretty quick. My husband ordered the Smashburger and a side salad and I got the wings. The wings were perfectly crisp and cooked all the way through the flavor was definitely there. The vibe in there feels like locals vibes and it's good to escape the SD tourist. The pricing for the food is also great. Parking is in a lot in front of the restaurant or there is street parking. If you love bar food I recommend Mastiff Kitchen! Keep in mind seating and parking are limited. Went on a weekend and the restaurant was fairly busy, luckily seating was available so that wasn't an issue. Decided to order their smash sliders, Hot Hawaiian crispy pan pizza nad the crispy brussel sprouts. The pan pizza is HEAVY so be prepared to get full fast. My favorite dish were the smash sliders, nice and crispy edges with a delicious melted cheese. The crispy brussell sprouts were interesting I was not expecting the maple sauce. Usually 5-star and I hate this because I love this place. Monday is happy hour all day and that's great. We had the HH Mastiff Fries, chicken wings and two slices of the burata pizza. The food was stellar as always. The service was great. What was not great was the fries came out and about 5 minutes later the wings came out (my order) and 10 minutes after that the pizza came out (my boyfriends order). He had to watch me eat (or I let me food get cold) and then I had to watch him eat. Always better to have all the food come out at the same time. It's an order first, then find a seat type of joint . The cashier was super friendly and answered all of our questions happily . We placed our order and took what seemed to be a quick 10 minute wait for our food . The loaded fries were served fresh and we loved how crisp and unique the fry cut was-- it was like a cross between steak cut and potato skin cup--- SOO FIRE . Came to San Diego for a grad my friend decided he wanted a beer! He recommended this spot as it's his usual go to. This place is similar to a sports bar but with great food! I haven't had deep dish pizza since Chicago because I love Chicago pizza in Chicago, sorry CA. I was hesistant on trying the pizza here but it was damn good. The pizza was rich in flavor and 10/10. The drink I got was fruity and paired well with the pizza. I wished for the first time I was a local so I could come here as well! Service was awesome we got a large water for all of us to drink from and staff was friendly and accommodating. Mastiff nailed it! The double smash burger was hands down the best I've ever had. The patty was crispy, perfectly seasoned, and exactly what I was craving. The 4 cheese pizza was so good even my picky 5 year old said she wants it every day (wow!). My husband loved the pig fries. Got gochujong nugs and a pastrami smash burger. The nugs were way overcooked and tough making it very difficult to eat. The burger? I fail to see what the fascination for a burger smashed so thin it becomes a piece of overcooked dried out meat. The pastrami? I don't know what they put on my burger but it didn't taste like pastrami. Maybe their pizzas are better. Just be warned, they serve bar food so don't expect more than that. People were nice. Wow! What a surprise this place was. There's limited parking out front but more street parking. You walk in and take a seat and then come up to the counter and order. So first, let's talk about the drinks. There are over 30 craft beers. You can also order a beer flight. All beers are available in an 8 ounce for around $6 to 16 oz for around $9. I tried the velvet glow and really enjoyed it. It is a light Russian beer. Now, I came here for the food. And it by far exceeded my expectations. I should've taken pictures of the food, but it was devoured so fast. I did not have a chance. I ordered the special chicken pot pie and it had the flaky crust only on top, but it was flavorful and good and very hot. We also ordered three Smashburger sliders, which were the hit of the table. The flavor along with the grilled onions was incredible. It had a garlic brioche bun to tie it all together. We also ordered a bratwurst sandwich. That one was the least favorite, but still good. There was a bit too much sauerkraut on it. But it was served with something very unique called crisps that have aïoli sauce on them and are nice and spicy with a good kick. The parking is pretty terrible. I had to settle for some pretty questionable parking to check the place out. Since I was parked kinda badly I decided to order to go. It was pretty busy on a Friday evening. Service was really good the guy behind the counter was helpful and he was pretty much spot on with his wait estimate. Not pictured Mastiff fries - the cotija, cilantro, and harissa combo on cold fries was just off putting. The service was fine. She was hustling in a busy restaurant! It was pretty loud, with more than one celebration happening at the time I visited. All in all, if someone invited me to eat here I would go but I wouldn't make plans to visit again on purpose. We were really excited to try this place after checking out the website and menu, but the experience was disappointing. When we walked in, the floor and tables were dirty. There was a sign instructing customers to wait to be seated. There was a party of 4 ahead of us waiting to order, and for over 7 minutes, no one acknowledged them or us, despite employees at the bar and in the kitchen clearly seeing everyone waiting several times during that period. I asked the party ahead if they had been helped, and they said no. Eventually, a man from the party ahead went up to the bar to speak to the employee. He stood there for over 30 seconds while the employee was interacting with another customer at the bar, then watched the employee walk to the order area without acknowledging him, leaving the man visibly confused. The employee later told the group to sit down and order. A woman from the party responded that they were ready to order, which was understandable given they had already been waiting for over 7 minutes and had more than enough time to look over the menu. The employee began taking the order while they were standing there but then walked away mid-order to get the man's beer. When the employee returned with the beer, he appeared confused and could not find the man who ordered it, even though the man had been standing there the entire time. Between the repeated lack of acknowledgment, the cleanliness issues, awkward service, and the overall disorganized and uncomfortable atmosphere, we decided to leave while still hungry. The experience was disappointing and a waste of time. Unfortunately, I don't see this place lasting. read more

This is an excellent place to come and enjoy lunch, early dinner, or dinner. They have daily lunch specials as well as TVs and ample seating for about 35 people. I ordered the chicken, bacon, ranch salad, and a mimosa and my friend ordered the KAC Salad with wine. We shared the skillet brownie a la mode dessert, which was perfect. I really enjoyed my salad and my mimosa. Everything just tasted perfectly and was very well prepared. My friend didn't like her salad only because she's not a sweet and savory person she would just rather have savory. So she went ahead and sent it back and they were very sweet and kind about getting her a new salad. They have good customer service here and the vibe is really nice and calm and relaxed.
