I had lunch at Farmer's Table in La Mesa with a friend yesterday. The food was delicious. gave the waitress, Norma, a gift card with an unknown balance that I had, had for several years. Prior to ordering, I asked her to please check the balance on the card for me. After checking, she informed me that she could not find the card in their system, but she wanted to check with the manager as their system had changed. The manager Guilermo, then approached me. In a very nice manner he asked several questions about the card, including how much I thought was on it. When I informed him that I thought there was $13.00 on the card, he immediately deleted that amount from the bill. Both he and Norma were accommodating and respectful throughout. I will definitely be eating at Farmer's Table in the future. read more

Service: Everyone was very friendly and the turnaround on our drink and food order was surprisingly quick with no impact to the quality! I'm used to a much longer wait. Food: The food was visually very inviting and tasty. Usually you pay for the ambience not the high food quality in SD proper, but here you get both. Also looks like they're bringing in a RAW BAR! I'll definitely be coming back for that! **I got the chilequilles a with steak and figured they'd phone it in, but it was SOOO good. Well cooked, seasoned, and sliced. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that the coffee was exceptional (hot and cold) and the mimosas were a middle ground of heavy handed Hillcrest mimosas and just a regular pour. I totally slept on this place for years and now it's sure to be in my regular weekend rotation, especially since it's so close to home. Why I slept on it, I don't know, but I'm am sleeping no more. The breakfast burger was great. It was a hearty portion and when combined with a salty dog to drink, it made for a wonderful little neighborhood breakfast. The staff was really pleasant when sitting at the bar and at some point I'll order the big ol' bloody that they have on the menu, I just have to have about five friends to share it with. A casual spot, great for brunch. We went there for a lunch meeting and it ended up being a good choice especially if you're looking for something more relaxed. It did take a little while for our server to come by at first but after that everything went smoothly and she was attentive. I tried the paccheri alla vodka and it was really good. We went to farmers table on Thursday night for dinner. We ordered a lot of things that tasted out of this world, such as the gnocchi, pizza, Greek salad, french fries, bruschetta, and salmon. I asked that my salmon be cooked well done, but it came to me a little bit on the raw side, so that was sad, but they were so nice and so gracious they cooked it up perfectly and the seasoning tasted so amazing and they took it off the bill! Everything we got we just kept saying oh my gosh it taste good. Oh Yum the gal that was our waitress was such a sweetheart. We really liked her. Haven't been in years! Went last night for a book club meetup without a reservation. The hostess was very sweet and accomodating to our party of 6 (only five of us showed up). I ordered the short rib pappardelle. It was sooooo good! I was very happy with the flavors. The short rib was tender and rich in flavor. The pasta was soft but not mushy. Everyone was satisfied with their pizzas and other pasta dishes. Our server, Amanda H., was great - super patient! The restaurant was on the nice side of casual. I visited Farmer's Table with my friends on a Friday morning. We had a reservation that day and were seated promptly. The service was great, the servers were very attentive and kind. I ordered the birria omelette with potatoes and ciabatta bread. The birria omelette was pretty good, with an ample amount of meat and cheese. The potatoes however were a little too heavily seasoned for my taste. They were a bit too salty. I also thought the bread was nothing special. Overall, Farmer's Table is such a cute place with wonderful service, and while the food was good, it wasn't a standout breakfast place to me. read more

Decided on Farmers Table for lunch. Always clean, although it can seem busy, a table for 2-3 is quick. Also seating by the bar available. Add a local craft beer and you have the makings of a nice experience. Today we ordered the breakfast. My wife had the veggie omelette and I had the Birria Benedict.....so good! I wasn't sure what to expect because I had never heard of such a thing. Instead of English muffin to build on, the poached eggs were stacked on tamales, poblano and cheese. This place blew my expectations. I always pass by but have never decided to stop in. Well I'm glad I did. The food was absolutely delicious and with that being said it is going to be more expensive and it's honestly worth it. The portion sizes for the price are great! The service was amazing. Everyone here was just honestly awesome from the moment I walked in the door. I loved the server we got he knew the menu well and had recommendations. Was very attentive even though he was busy. We came during the San Diego food week, so i had to the try the Pork shank that came with garlic mashed potatoes, and side of cooked spinach. Very good. Pork was melting off the bone good. Spinach was a bit over salted but otherwise good. Service was excellent as well. Wife had one of there signature salads, she stated was very good. We also tried the fried calamari. Such a Cali, farm-to-table vibes. The decor was very cute and Instagrammable. We were lucky to catch the brunch menu. We arrived around 12:30 on a Thursday and were seated immediately. They have an ample selection of Mexican, Italian and American inspired dishes, which seems like a lot going on but everything I saw on people's plates looked amazing. My husband ordered the mole chilaquiles and added birria for extra flavor and protein. Not only was it absolutely delicious, the tortilla chips stayed crispy the whole time, even with all the sauces. I wanted something lighter and got the veggie panini. They ribbon sliced two kinds of zucchini, bell peppers and eggplant. The spread on the focaccia bread was super creamy. Really wanted to like this place. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated, and the staff was friendly and attentive. My wife enjoyed her pizza, but unfortunately, my pasta carbonara missed the mark. It arrived oily with a scrambled egg texture--something that shouldn't make it past the kitchen. Although they offered to bring out another pasta, I declined. If the chef was comfortable serving that version of carbonara, I wasn't confident another pasta would be much better. read more

I had no issues with the service, but let me just say, we had a ridiculously large piece of melted plastic in our food! Like what? You can see in the initial picture of the avocado toast, it's on the plate before we picked it up to take a better look at it. That's like ridiculously big of a piece of plastic how do you miss it and how do you even let it get in there in the first place? I had no issues with our hostess. She apologized to us, she got the food replaced and she was very attentive. The plastic issue wasn't on her, I believe that's something the kitchen staff should have noticed! That's honestly really unacceptable for a restaurant. I genuinely don't know if I have desire to be back. I'm okay with the Chula Vista location, but Farmers Table is just not top tier for breakfast/brunch. It was satisfying enough, but finding plastic in our food just really turned me off from coming back here again. read more

I walked here after the La Mesa car show since it's conveniently only a couple short blocks away. The restaurant is pretty with a lovely outdoor patio, an indoor/outdoor bar area, and a spacious and well-decorated interior restaurant. The bar staff was friendly, helpful, and provided quick service. They make a great margarita and have a good selection of wine. The food was unfortunately a disappointment. We first ordered the artichoke appetizer, not pictured, and it was entirely inedible. I regret not getting a picture. It is essentially two long artichoke stems with very small hearts that were fanned out and burned. The whole thing was hard, near impossible to even cut, and absolutely drowned in the most overpowering lemon dressing I have had in my life. There was a very long piece of bread down the middle of the plate that was very dry on the ends, soggy with the lemon sauce in the middle, and burnt on the bottom. We couldn't eat it. We then ordered the prosciutto bruschetta, pictured, which was fine though the prosciutto was a bit dry. If you are coming for drinks, this is a very pleasant setting with lovely staff.
