Top 3 New York style pizza in San Diego. The testarosa pizza with the ricotta and hot chili oil with honey is just amazing. Usually get that and their white pizza. Can compare this place to a bunch of others but it's hard to get close to their crust and the testarosa pizza. Worst pizza service I've ever had. Went in to grab a couple of slices to go, and the person working the register could care less about it. 2 ppl ahead of me getting their orders and then the girl working the register started messing with the tip jar. I guess she was doing it to give change to a customer that was already sitting there. No biggie. She kept apologizing for taking so long to ask me what I want, but never actually helps me. She looks a little flustered and its hot in there so STILL, no biggie. I wait... She then starts helping other ppl who came in to pick up orders and STILL...no problem. Then she comes back to me and apologized AGAIN, and starts walking back to the kitchen for something. 2 more customers come in and start grabbing waters and figuring out what they want and she comes back and starts asking THEM if theyre ordering slices or picking up, completely ignoring me. I dont have a problem with waiting when someone's a little busy & flustered, but when you start asking other customers who came in AFTER me what they'd like after I had been waiting patiently, its off-putting to say the least. I ended up walking out with nothing. Won't be coming here again and I live in the neighborhood. I will tell everyone who asks me about this place in comparison to a better shop down the road to stay away and make sure to steer them to the other shop. Customer service is huge with me. Love this hole in the wall pizza place. It's one of the best eats in Tierrasanta and theeee best pizza place here by far. You can't go wrong with anything you order here! My go-to is the Truffle Pizza, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I love the big dollops of ricotta and all the mushrooms. Can I also give an honorable mention to their pizza sauce! I was sort of in the area and I was craving pizza. I saw so many great reviews on Yelp for this spot. I ordered 2 pizzas to go and then I cruised that way. There was ample parking for this time of day. I went inside and sat down, place is pretty small, there were some small tables inside. I did not wait too long for my order to be ready. You can see right up front, the staff are making the pizzas fresh. The scent of basil hit me hard when I walked into this place. While I was waiting, they noted they do love to make the pizza so fresh, so there might be a little wait until they come out piping hot. The two pizzas I ordered were: 1. Margarita: extra mozz/extra parm/ BASIL (SOT- sauce on top) I loved the toppings on this one, the basil was my favorite thing. They do not skimp on toppings. I did not love their sauce, I realize it's homemade and fresh, but I found it a bit too salty. 2. Truffle: Double mushroom/truffle salt/ Ricotta (SOT- sauce on top) I'm a mushroom fanatic, so when I saw this on the menu, I was so dang excited. The toppings were delicious, I did not love the SOT and it could have been a bit less salty. I think truffle salt is a wonderful addition and it is not seen very often. Once again, they did not skimp on the toppings. For both pizzas, they came out piping hot. I did not like the crust as much, I enjoyed it at first since it was so hot and fresh, but it definitely has a major chew to it. Some might prefer it, but I'm not a fan. If I would to order here again, possibly I would ask for my pizzas to be less cooked. (maybe that helps with the chew?) and no SOT. I think my favorite overall pizza or at least one of my favorites. I ordered a whole pizza online, pepperoni, mushrooms and guero peppers. It's the only place I know of that has guero peppers, they are mildly spicy maybe half as spicy as jalapeños they do add up as you eat it though. What I like most is the crust it's a bit more chewy than other NY style pizza. The pepperoni were flavorful and nicely charred. The guero peppers added a mild spice and good flavor. The pizza is somehow juicy and the tomato sauce has a nice intense, almost tomato paste flavor. Ordering online was easy and the pizza was ready in the estimated time. They are located to the right of Vons next to a sushi restaurant. They also have pizza by the slice if you walk in. But it's so good and I don't mind ordering a whole and reheating the next day. They do reheat well too the crust is both thin and crispy but still has that beautiful chew. read more

This pizzeria makes some pretty good pizza. I picked up a couple of slices: the chicken parm and the deluxe white. Both slices had a good crust with a good crunch and a decent chew. I liked the deluxe white very much. The sausage was good and savory, just a little more of that fennel in it. It was a good slice. Paid by card. Pizza Standard is located in a plaza and offers a lot of plaza parking. I had no issues ordering to go on a Friday night and was told 35 min wait. When I got there the line was out the door. I had to wait 45 minutes. It was worth the wait! I ordered a cheese, Margarita, and truffle. I would say the truffle was my favorite. I found this place on social media and noticed all the good reviews online. Came here on a weekend evening and many people were there for takeout. We decided to get a few slices to eat there and they were really good! I enjoyed the truffle and testarossa. The slices are priced really well too! I also tried the tiramisu and liked it as well. The only downside to it was the alcohol; it was quite strong and maybe too overpowering at the end. I'm glad I tried it but I probably wouldn't get it in the future. The red Pizza, the carnivore had just the right amount of sauce, not too gloppy or soupy. Not too sweet, just right. The artichoke white garlic sauce pizza and we added mushrooms and extra mozzarella was nice and tangy. Nice chewy, crust. Nice thin crust was not soggy at all. at the last minute when I picked them up. I grabbed a couple if the tiramasu. They're really nice. They got a nice heft to them, have an eaten yet, but they look pretty good and the smell pretty good. I would suggest you go there. If they made it into breadsticks I would definitely buy them! They have several different types of pizzas with tasty toppings. From original cheese or pepperoni to truffle or margarita. The UnHawaiian is super good. They change up the options daily. You can get the pizza hot or take it home and throw it in the oven (or air fryer!). Such a beautiful science I feel that's been achieved, I usually like my crust to be thin but I like how this is a Happy in between of thin but a touch of thickness. To close the meal, we just had to try the tiramisu because like who doesn't want to finish that goodness with something sweet! I ordered the Carnivore Pizza and Standard Salad. The salad was a generous, robust portion that paired perfectly with the balsamic dressing. My only complaint is that the large salad comes with just one small dressing cup, so I had to pay extra for additional dressing. The Carnivore pizza had great flavor, but unfortunately, the crust was soggy and fell apart. As someone who believes NY-style pizza should be firm enough to hold up properly, I was disappointed when every slice fell apart as soon as I picked it up. All the toppings slid right off. This might work fine for people who eat pizza with a fork and knife, but that's not how I enjoy my pizza. The standard is set! This is a legit NY Style pizza shop pumping out pipping hot thin crust pizzas in Tierrasanta San Diego. Greeted upon entering the small establishment and ordered a slice of mushroom truffle ($4) pepperoni basil($4), and ended with the Gold Standard Cheese ($2). Worth every dollar. This establishment was the busiest in the strip mall including the small Vons. I ate my slices in shop and watched patrons come and go non stop for 15 minutes and the pizza baker kept making pie after pie the entire time. The dough was my jam. Chewy, crispy and without flop. I hate that I haven't found this place earlier. I really enjoyed my pie from here. I found it via Google when I searched "greasy pizza San Diego" and I'm so glad I did. It lived up to the 4.8 stars that Yelp has it rated. I went with the simple pepperoni and cheese pizza. And the crust wasn't rubbery, the pepperoni was juicy and it didn't need any additional cheese or peppers to make it flavorful. Simply delicious. Most importantly it cost me 22 dollars which feels like a huge steal. Parking is plenty. It's in a plaza with other businesses. The store is right next to Vons. Not a ton of seating inside. The Pizza Standard is anything but standard. In fact, I believe they help create the standard of what New York style pizza (thin crust) should taste like. Of course, I Yelp stalked this joint and read a bunch of reviews beforehand. It was a longer drive than Hillcrest (to Bronx), but I wanted to try something new. This joint is in the Tierra Santa community of San Diego (15 freeway, Claremont Mesa Blvd head east). I made the trip solo, the wifey was too busy studying for finals. She would love the pizza here though. I thought about bringing something back, but she was eating before I left so decided not to. This joint is located in the Vons shopping center in between Vons and a laundry mat. There is plenty of parking which is a plus because Bronx is good, but the parking situation in Hillcrest can be a pain. The place has probably 4-5 tables and they have a display case for the slices you can order or you can order a whole pie from their menu. Each slice runs $3 - $4, soda is $2. I got 3 slices (Truffle Mushroom, Margherita, and Pepperoni) along with a soda. At the time, those were the only pies they had in the case aside from just cheese. They heated up my slices (which took maybe 5 minutes or so) threw them in a box, and called out when they were ready. You do have the option of having them heated or taking them as is to go. I really enjoyed each slice. The crust was appropriately crisp and then doughy after biting and chewing. The cheese perfectly melted, sauce pretty good, and ingredients were proportioned well. Good balance, nothing overwhelming anything else, just crust, sauce, cheese, ingredients all working in harmony. I just really loved the taste of everything... It was pretty delicious! They have Sriracha and other hot sauces you can use to kick up the heat! We love adding a little bit of Sriracha to our pizza when we eat at home... good job guys! I ate at the joint and I have to say that I love the atmosphere here. The crew here knows their regulars and even if they don't, they welcome and greet you warmly. They had a handful of people in and out while I was there picking up or ordering and some customers knew the crew by name. That says a lot. They had some rock / alternative rock playing here (Red Got Chili Peppers, 3 Doors Down, and others). I forget which song it was, but a song came on and the whole crew including the ones in back started singing to it all together... pretty cool!
