Nonna is one of those places that's consistently good for Italian food. I've been here several times, and the quality of the food and service has always been reliable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The location in Little Italy is beautiful, with both inviting indoor and outdoor dining.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The only thing I've noticed recently is that the portions seem a bit smaller than they used to be. That said, the food is still delicious, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the service is consistently friendly. It's still a spot I enjoy coming back to whenever I'm craving Italian.

This spot was walking distance from me and my friend's hotel which was super convenient! We also made a reservation. I ordered the Bolognese Nonna (added meatballs) and then also got one of their mini fruit tarts from the bakery as a dessert. I thought the Bolognese Nonna was very good, and the meatballs were juicy. My only critique was that the noodles were heavily sauced, which I wasn't the biggest fan of. I typically like a good ratio of noodle to sauce. For my dessert, I loved all the fresh fruit on the tart and overall, the dessert was very good. My critique would be, it wasn't those tarts you can cut into and eat, as the crust was hard, so you had to bite into it. Overall, the service was good, and food came out in a timely manner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was also very homey.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped by Nonna in Little Italy while checking out a pop-up matcha spot and ended up having a great light lunch. We ordered the bruschetta and mushroom tortellini--both were delicious. The bruschetta was fresh and flavorful with soft bread, while the tortellini was rich, creamy, and super satisfying. If you like mushrooms, it's a must-try. There was a bit of a wait, but nothing too bad and definitely worth it. They also have a deli-style counter for gelato and quick bites, which is a nice option. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Casual but cozy vibe overall.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd come back!

SUCH GOOD FOOD! We both loved and devoured our meals! Our waitress was a little busy and we were often chasing her down, but totally worth it. Amazing how they can balance having a dessert and gelato window, coffee counter, tiny sports bar, and being a regular nice restaurant! Maybe avoid sitting on the outside tables on the sidewalk cause we noticed people sorta crowded and walking by those tables.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great Italian food and awesome location.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place is just like eating Italian food in Italy! I only took photos of the appetizers because I was so excited for the mains. The pesto gnocchi is so good and the lasagna was amazing!

Our group went to Nonna's on a Saturday night, which is always quite busy in Little Italy. Parking was a little bit rough, but we managed to find something a few streets away. We did wait about 15 minutes until a table opened up. If you get hungry, come early! I'd say that it was worth the wait. We got quite a few starters, and I have to say... skip the prosciutto and burrata, the foccia was the true star! It was like if foccia and garlic bread had a baby: fluffy bread full of all that garlicky, cheesy flavor! I also quite liked the bright and fresh flavors of the Rucola salad. It was so delicious! The pizza choices were a little underwhelming, and I thought the Caprese pizza we ordered tasted okay. The pasta, however, was incredible! The tortelloni funghi was the best main dish we had. If you like mushrooms, this is for you. It was rich and decadent and full of mushroom flavor. While there was a small issue with the short rib pappardelle, the restaurant helped us fix it right away. It turned out quite delicious. It was meaty and hearty. They also have a nice wine and dessert selection. We shared a bottle of Lambrusco that was quite good and finished the night off with a selection of sweets including cannoli's, a lemon tart, and their tiramisu. You can't go wrong with their sweets. All were fabulous!

While walking around Little Italy, we decided to try out Nonna. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is cozy and inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have dining inside, outside on the sidewalk, and back patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have a U shaped bar right when you walk in, and a dessert case on the side. We had their calamari as an appetizer, which was a good portion 7/10. For our entrees, we had their salsiccia pizza (7/10) and gnocchi al pesto 8/10. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A great little date night no-frills spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came here recently on a Sunday night after we decided on a last minute trip to San Diego for Sea World. On our only night here we stayed just outside Little Italy and within walking distance from our hotel was Nonna. We were in the mood for some Italian food and I think we made a great choice with Nonna. We waited about 10 mins which wasn't too bad. When you come in here, you feel like you're in a comfort place because of the ambiance here with pictures of Nonnas around the restaurant. Especially after having watched Nonnas on Netflix, it definitely had that feel being inside here. From the front host to our table, the service was great. We ordered their Bruschetta as a starter with nicely made baguettes filled with tomatoes and the fix. We also ordered their Busalachhi Caesar salad, Lasagna and Carbona pasta. All were very flavorful. The lasagna I wanted more while the pasta the kids ordered but after a few taste, we wanted more also. We don't usually order dessert but glad we did here. Their tiramisu wasn't very sweet which is good. The cannoli on the other hand was a bit sweet but not complaining since it was pretty good. So many options here to try meaning I will definitely have to to come back when I'm in town.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute little Italian restaurant in Little Italy.. I've passed this place many times but finally stopped in while walking around on a Sunday spending time with my BFF.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Smaller restaurant, but plenty of outside seating too.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a bit dark inside, but was still a good ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor was simple and very inviting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the bruschetta and the bread was very good... light, but crispy and had the perfect amount of garlic (which was a lot.. exactly how I like it) and olive oil. We both love mushrooms so we ordered the tortellini fungi and it was delicious. If you love mushrooms, this is a definite must try! Very good size portion, we shared and barely finished it. The sauce was flavorful and creamy. We didn't get to try the focaccia, but it looked like a lot of others people ordered it and it looked really good. Our waitress was friendly and so were the other servers walking by. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. If you are ever in Little Italy, stop by and give it a try.

Got a place right on the sidewalk. Host was kind enough to put a heater near our table. It really wasn't that bad as there was enough room for people to walk by and great people watching. Our waiter was extremely nice and helpful with recommendations. We had to have of course pasta, bread and parmigiana. All extremely DELICIOUS. Lot of choices needless to say in Little Italy but this should be at or near the top of your list!

Everything about Nonna is simply wonderful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is low-key, very relaxing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice bar and the outdoor space is terrific.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is delicious. Seriously, everything on the menu is fabulous. Great appetizers and the pasta dishes are soooo good, notably their spaghetti and meatballs which is very traditional, and very, very good. Reasonably priced compared to other Little Italy restaurants. Best Pappardelle I have ever had IN MY LIFE. Try the carrot cake (you'll get a very generous sized piece). THE SERVICE IS SUPERB. Lucky for me, I live a block away so it's easy to just drop in and have a big meal, a smaller, lighter meal, or just go for happy hour and appetizers. The menu has something for everyone, including kids.

We went on a food tour of little Italy, and a local Italian recommended Nonna's! We had already eaten, so we came in for gelato, (they have sorbet too). We noticed 2 huge display cases of freshly made pastries, which beckoned The next day we came back and had dessert for lunch, we cannolis, chocolate mousse, tiramisu, and cookies They also have a fully stocked bar, so we drank our cares away!!

Do they take walk-ins? Is it easy to get a table for an early dinner, 5ish?

We actually walked in and were seated within 20 minutes..it's a small restaurant, so you may be waiting for a while.

Is there a dress code for the restaurant? On my open table app it mentions the dress code to be business casual

I saw no evidence of a dress code (I was in a hoodie, though ate in the seating area just outside the front doors).

And the way that Luca interacted with all of his customers- amazing! Our family felt as though we knew him forever. The appetizer and salad were very good. And our main dishes of carbonara, bolognese and red sauce rigatoni were delicious. I really didn't think any of us would finish them but we couldn't put our forks down. It's a lovely place above a pizzeria - we literally passed by once and missed the entrance. Once you get up stairs, the seating area is well designed so that everyone had room enough to not feel cramped as in other restaurants. Great place for family or romantic dinner! Thank you, Luca and team for giving us such a great experience while on vacation in San Diego!

We substituted the tagliatelle ragu with pappardelle pasta since we already had fettuccine and I liked that a lot.
