BRONX PIZZA @ HILLCREST Parking is street parking only, but I definitely recommend turning down the first left once your navigation brings you to Bronx Pizza. It's kind of tucked away in the corner, and I was luckily able to find a spot pretty easily. Parking is free after 4 PM, and during school days I believe it's a two-hour limit before then. I had never heard of this place before, but my friend has been raving about it for the longest time. It's actually one of the highest-rated pizza spots on Yelp and Google and is known for its authentic New York-style pizza with a super thin, crispy crust. If you don't want to order a whole pie (which ranges from around $30-40), you can just grab a slice! Cheese slices are only $3, while specialty slices with toppings are around $4.50. They also have some great lunch specials, including two slices and a drink for just $9 or one slice, a salad, and a drink for $9. My boyfriend and I both went with the two slices and a drink combo. They have a good variety of drinks including soda, juice, and water. I just grabbed a water. For my pizza, I ordered the jalapeño pepperoni slice because I love spicy food and had never tried jalapeños on pizza before. This absolutely blew my mind. It was so flavorful, perfectly crispy, and had the perfect amount of spice. Every bite was amazing. One thing to keep in mind is that they're cash only, so be sure to bring cash with you. If you forget, they do have an ATM inside. The staff were incredibly friendly and heated each slice fresh before serving it. The restaurant has plenty of seating with booths inside, additional tables, and outdoor seating as well. They also have a restroom, and near the condiment station you'll find red pepper flakes, garlic powder, oregano, and other seasonings to customize your slice. Overall, this place completely lived up to the hype. It has such an authentic New York pizza shop feel, the pizza was incredible, and the prices are hard to beat. If you're craving a true New York-style slice in San Diego, this is definitely a spot you need to check out. 5/5!
Make sure to bring CASH! What a deal to get 2 slices and a can of soda for $9! There was no wait. You choose the slices of pizza you want that is available in the case and they will heat up the pizza for you! Great customer service. I called in advance to see if there were tables available for a large party. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating area is in the shade. Would recommend this place if you are looking for a quick bite! Parking was harder to find. There are some spots by the restaurant, meter parking, and paid parking lots.
Came out hot and tasty! The tomato was a nice fresh add to the pizza. Cash only but they have an atm machine if you're in a rush.
As an east coaster who relocated to SD almost ten years ago, my goal has consistently been to find pizza, bagels, & egg sandwiches like they make at home or as close to it as possible. To this day, I'm still at a loss regarding the bagels & egg sandwiches as nothing has really come close (honorable mention: Pop-Up Bagels), but the legit closest I've come to having NY Style pizza in SD is absolutely Bronx Pizza! Bronx has been around since 1997 & they're coming up on their 30th Anniversary! That's quite a milestone. During the time I've lived in SD, I've come here a handful of times & it is always consistently simple, fresh, & tasty. You can buy individual slices or whole pies, but just make sure you bring cash. Services is fast & friendly, no-nonsense, but efficient. These guys know what they are doing. Bronx has two main dining areas & a couple of tables in the front. You bus your own tables, and tables are first come first serve. Street parking only. The decor has not been changed, probably since they opened, but it's giving "pizza joint that has been around for awhile & focuses on pizza and not trends or frivolous things" - that's good in my book. The vintage pictures of boxers including Ali, Tyson & more are pretty cool. Verdict: if you like pizza, come here! It is affordable & tasty.
Honestly this was such a relief to find NY style slice pizza. So delicious! It is a fast paced environment the staff is working hard knocking pizzas out the oven back to back. Hats off to them! I went ahead and tried a slice of pepperoni and feta with spinach. Enjoyed every single bite. They do have seating out towards the right side of where you order. Nice little mom n pop shop. Try it out!
FINALLY stopped in to grab some pizza after having Bronx on my list of spots to eat at for years! Absolutely delicious. Definitely a little hole in the wall spot and cash only, but the pizza was fantastic. Perfectly crispy with lots of topping options. I love that they do pizza by the slice here.
Porko ($4) - This slice transported me to New York City. It had the classic crispy thin crust that you could fold and enjoy. I'd recommend this slice if you want a variety of meat as it has pepperoni, meatball, and sausage. Pepperoni ($4) - I thoroughly enjoyed this slice, too. Whitestone ($4) - My husband ordered this and it was surprisingly my favorite slice! It was by far the most flavorful because of the ricotta and garlic. Highly, highly recommend this popular SD pizza spot!
Bronx Pizza is a small yet inviting pizza shop located in North Park, very good spot. Pros: the pizza here is New York style, so it's very thin, but also very tasty. They sell by the slice or you get a full pie that you can eat there or take it to go. They have a lot different options for toppings, and the most common that you will see by slice would be pepperoni, cheese, meat, lovers, spinach and ricotta, and a bunch of others. I ordered the tomato and basil slice, the Whitestone, spinach, and the meat lovers, all were very good and tasty. My girlfriend ordered the jalapeño and pepperoni, which was also very tasty. There was red pepper, oregano, and I believe garlic powder at the tables that you could sit inside which was very spacious once he actually got inside and passed the counter to order. I got the two slice plus drink deal which is nine dollars which I believe is the best price if you're not getting a full pie. They have a bathroom in there. That's all gender and they have a lot of seating inside that is very New York inspired. Cons: note that this is cash only, there are no ways to pay with credit card debit card or anything else. There is ATM inside in the case you don't have cash on you which is nice to have. There's also very limited parking around the area and you'd have to do street parking or walk there. There's no isolated parking lot specifically for this place. Verdict: is a solid pizza spot and I would come back here again and again for any kind of New York style pizza. The price is good and the taste is phenomenal!
Hole in the wall spot that delivers exactly what it promises, authentic New York style thin crust pizza done right. As a pizza lover, truly enjoyed it. The Whitestone and pesto slices are standouts and worth coming back for. The $9 combo for two slices and a drink is an unbeatable value, especially for the quality you're getting. Staff is friendly and keeps things moving. If you're testing whether a pizza spot is legit, this one passes.
Came to San Diego for the Gold Cup BMX 2026 and this pizza was delicious glad we were able to eat a slice while we waited for our whole Pie.... mushroom slice was ok, honey grabbed the sausage and pepperoni oh lord that was top tier and the pepperoni was just perfect regret not grabbing À T-shirt see you guys next time thanks
Been coming here for 30 years and really enjoy this pizzeria. All different types of slices. No POS system so ya gotta have cash. I think Dave from One Bite should review this pizza. Gotta get the $9 special it's a total bargain. Porko is my fav. But the Cheese and others are all great! Whenever I'm in SD I stop here and pickup slices.
Delicious thin crusted pizza in Hillcrest. We were able to easily get street parking on a weekday. Cash only, ATM inside. Plenty of seating indoors. We tried the pesto, pepperoni, and the porko slices. The pizza tasted fresh and they also heat up the slices for you (we ate there). My favorite was the pesto and there is a generous amount on top. Would happily come back and grab a quick slice!!
Overall a very solid slice for the price. We got a pepperoni slice, a Whitestone slice, and a pesto slice. Out of the three, I liked the pepperoni the most, it had the best balance of flavor and texture. The pepperonis were solid, and sauce the cheese ratio were good. However, I felt the sauce was a little lacking in flavor and the bottom of the very floppy and didn't hold up very well even though I ate it within 5 mins of getting it. The Whitestone pizza is a solid choice, but it is very ricotta heavy so it might not be a great choice for people who don't love it. I enjoyed the texture a lot on this one though, nice and crispy bottom and good crust flavor. The pesto was probably my least favorite. A little overly salty taste. Pesto wasn't super flavorful. I probably wouldn't get that one again. Definitely worth grabbing a slice or two from Bronx pizza if you're in the area or want some very reasonably priced slices. Staff were friendly and helpful.
We came to Bronx Pizza after reading all the great reviews, and they definitely weren't wrong! The pizza was seriously delicious easily one of the best I've ever had, if not the best. A couple things to keep in mind: it can get pretty warm inside, which makes sense since the ovens are running constantly. They're also cash only, so make sure you have cash on hand. If you're ordering a whole pie, expect about a 20-minute wait. Overall, the pizza alone is absolutely worth the visit. read more

Haven't been here for *years,* glad to see it's still standing strong. It felt a little loud and chaotic though, guess that's the vibe. I didn't look too closely at the menu since there was a line forming behind me. Although the pesto pizza looked amazing, I told the guy 1 Combo Pizza Slice. I think they had a deal for 2 slices and a drink-- my friends said it was pretty reasonable price. Next time I'd get that, but I was feeling overwhelmed so I insisted on just one slice. Combo- it had sausage and pepperoni! I love how thin the pizza was. It was still able to hold its shape when being held and it wasn't overly oily at all. The sausage was good, I love when there's fennel in it. The crust was also good. I think they mastered reheating the pizza because it was hot, but not burnt. This is a CASH ONLY spot, but they do have atm in the back seating area if you do need to get some cash out. There's two tables in the main ordering area, 4-8 in the middle section, and even more in the back. In addition, on the tables they have: oregano herb, garlic seasoning, crushed red pepper, and parm available. read more

This place is the bomb. Centrally located in Hillcrest area. They have great NY style pizza sold by the slice or the whole pie. Quite a few choices for veggies and meat eaters by the slice. If not, you can always have it made your way with a whole pie. Very reasonable priced, especially nowadays with prices being so high. 2 slices and a drink for $9.00. You can't beat that. Plenty of seating space. No alcohol, No credit cards. ONLY CASH. Good thing is they have an ATM on-site. I can eat here regularly and never get tired. read more

Bronx is AMAAAAZING! The crust, the sauce, the cheese...*insert tears of goodness here* So I've eaten lots of pizza in my lifetime. I've had enough pizza to judge that Bronx is one of the top contenders in SD in terms of NY pizza. They got all the elements down: foldable slices, the cheese that goes harmoniously with the marinara is then slathered on top and ever so shimmers with glory, and the crust is ever so crispy...airy...and amazing. When I picked up my slices for the first time, I inhaled all that cheesy goodness and couldn't wait to sit down at the table to scarf it all down. My first stop was a dine-in, and just a reminder that they take cash only! They have lots of tables out in the back. Pizza took a while to get warmed up when it's busy. I highly, highly recommend trying Bronx on your day off. They won't disappoint. read more

There's a nice casual ambiance! This is a cash only, quick service establishment. We ordered the Whitestone and the Porko, portion sizes are huge. The Whitestone had that creamy ricotta + garlic combo that's super savory and satisfying, while the Porko was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, and meatballs. Came here on a busy Saturday night, and although the line to order was long, it moved surprisingly quickly. I tried a slice of the Margherita and the Pesto pizza, both were freshly made, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The taste instantly reminded me of my trip to New York, and even the vibe inside felt similar. It was definitely crowded, and while there's plenty of indoor seating, finding a spot to sit wasn't easy. They also reheat the slices in the oven before serving, so there's a small wait, but the result is well worth it. Overall, a fantastic spot for pizza - I'll definitely be coming back often! read more

Yum!! If you're in San Diego and love good pizza, Bronx Pizza is a must! Their pizza is consistently great, and the calzone is absolutely delicious. We love this place and always leave happy! read more
I was born and raised in the Bronx, and Bronx pizza was all I knew until I went to college. So, I think I can appropriately weigh in on what good pizza from my borough is. Pizza will forever be a hot topic with New Yorkers - everyone will have their own opinion on what makes a good best NY slice. You can even go so far as to include the greater tristate area as NJ and CT regularly weigh in with their offerings. But we're specifically talking about Bronx pizza today; I may be biased but I think it's some of the best pizza there is. Even though I now live in Westchester, I will usually only have pizza when I'm in the Bronx because nothing up here comes close to it. Why am I mentioning all of this? Because when I saw a place in San Diego called Bronx Pizza, my first reaction was "oh really??" - and even though I was in California, my curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to check it out. That being said, we made plans to grab lunch here after a day of exploring Balboa Park. Upon entry, BP gives off NY pizzeria aesthetic. You're immediately greeted by the production area which has pies on display. Beyond that, though, is a really spacious seating area which I didn't expect - so it's not hard to find a table if you're looking to dine in. The walls are filled with Italian-American and Bronx/NYC memorabilia which I thought was a nice touch. We noticed they had a special which came with two slices and a drink. That sounded perfect so I got a plain cheese and a pepperoni. The slices were heated and then we were called once they were ready. So, how was it? They came close, I think as close as they could. It was definitely a thin NY style slice, but the crust lacked that slight chewiness; that's partly due to the water - something that just can't be replicated. I also thought the sauce was a little bland, but not a dealbreaker for me. Outside of that, they were good slices. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, while BP does not totally replicate a Bronx slice, they do a great job making NY style pizza; this is likely a place I would order from regularly if I lived in SD. It's also nice to see all the love this place gets from locals and the positive representation it gives to the borough. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for great pizza in San Diego. read more

Bronx Pizza is one of the MOST iconic pizza joints in San Diego serving up authentic New York style, thin crust pizza. This cash-only pizza spot located in Hillcrest, on Washington St. serves pizzas by the slice or whole pies. Their pizza ALWAYS hits the spot with perfectly thin and crispy crust, not overly sauced, and just the right amount of melty cheese! Definitely one of our go-to pizza spots! Real New York style slices in the heart of San Diego--what's not to love? They have a rotating variety of slices and can also make full pies and calzones. Reasonably priced, great crust, good ingredients. The atmosphere is nice as well--they have a bunch of New York baseball and American boxing memorabilia hanging on the walls, and signed photos of famous people are in the front room. Come by for a consistent and tasty piece of pizza. I've never been disappointed. UPDATE: You'll want to order 30 minutes ahead if you're looking for a full pie or a calzone, especially on the weekend. It gets quite busy. Also, they've removed the soda fountain and now only serve bottled water and Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite in cans. read more

Best White Stone pizza ever! The pesto pizza was just okay, but the White Stone was by far the best pizza I've had. The service is quick, and it's a cash-only spot. The pizza is made fresh, so it comes out hot and warm every time. The ambiance is very laid-back, making it perfect for a late-night pizza run or a casual lunch. read more

LOVED the crunch of this pizza and combo pizzas are my go to, so no complaints here. Plenty of seating and we ordered this entire pie for pickup which was ready in 18 minutes and cost us about $30. I don't think I've ever had true New York style pizza until I've tried this place! So simple yet the flavor is there. I love the two slice combo; it comes with a drink! This place is CASH ONLY so make sure you come prepared. They have an ATM machine inside with I believe a fee of $1.50. The interior place plenty of seating but it does get busy. People are in and out so you would only wait a short while. This place is a must for any San Diego trips. read more

Don, as a former NYr they don't have Sicilian, just the best Neapolitan pies with great thin crust. Also Calzones. Voted top 20 pizzerias in the US!!

About 20 minutes. Call ahead and order so you don't have to wait.

When you order a whole pie will they do a half-half if you request? E.x. Half pepperoni half cheese
Absolutely! They've done this for us in the past
Do they truly use water from NY?
It’s not heavy or hard to ship because they bring it in dehydrated.
