    Porko slice!

Been coming here for 30 years and really enjoy this pizzeria. All different types of slices. No POS system so ya gotta have cash. I think Dave from One Bite should review this pizza. Gotta get the $9 special it's a total bargain. Porko is my fav. But the Cheese and others are all great! Whenever I'm in SD I stop here and pickup slices.

Overall a very solid slice for the price. We got a pepperoni slice, a Whitestone slice, and a pesto slice. Out of the three, I liked the pepperoni the most, it had the best balance of flavor and texture. The pepperonis were solid, and sauce the cheese ratio were good. However, I felt the sauce was a little lacking in flavor and the bottom of the very floppy and didn't hold up very well even though I ate it within 5 mins of getting it. The Whitestone pizza is a solid choice, but it is very ricotta heavy so it might not be a great choice for people who don't love it. I enjoyed the texture a lot on this one though, nice and crispy bottom and good crust flavor. The pesto was probably my least favorite. A little overly salty taste. Pesto wasn't super flavorful. I probably wouldn't get that one again. Definitely worth grabbing a slice or two from Bronx pizza if you're in the area or want some very reasonably priced slices. Staff were friendly and helpful.

This is a great place if you're craving a quick, no-frills pizza place! Parking wasn't great, but we found street parking pretty easily and there's actually plenty of seating inside. There's a nice casual ambiance! This is a cash only, quick service establishment. We ordered the Whitestone and the Porko, portion sizes are huge. The Whitestone had that creamy ricotta + garlic combo that's super savory and satisfying, while the Porko was loaded with pepperoni, sausage, and meatballs. Great bang for you buck, can't wait to come again!

Yum!! If you're in San Diego and love good pizza, Bronx Pizza is a must! Their pizza is consistently great, and the calzone is absolutely delicious. We love this place and always leave happy!

Haven't been here for *years,* glad to see it's still standing strong. It felt a little loud and chaotic though, guess that's the vibe. I didn't look too closely at the menu since there was a line forming behind me. Although the pesto pizza looked amazing, I told the guy 1 Combo Pizza Slice. I think they had a deal for 2 slices and a drink-- my friends said it was pretty reasonable price. Next time I'd get that, but I was feeling overwhelmed so I insisted on just one slice. Combo- it had sausage and pepperoni! I love how thin the pizza was. It was still able to hold its shape when being held and it wasn't overly oily at all. The sausage was good, I love when there's fennel in it. The crust was also good. I think they mastered reheating the pizza because it was hot, but not burnt. This is a CASH ONLY spot, but they do have atm in the back seating area if you do need to get some cash out. There's two tables in the main ordering area, 4-8 in the middle section, and even more in the back. In addition, on the tables they have: oregano herb, garlic seasoning, crushed red pepper, and parm available.

This place is the bomb. Centrally located in Hillcrest area. They have great NY style pizza sold by the slice or the whole pie. Quite a few choices for veggies and meat eaters by the slice. If not, you can always have it made your way with a whole pie. Very reasonable priced, especially nowadays with prices being so high. 2 slices and a drink for $9.00. You can't beat that. Plenty of seating space. No alcohol, No credit cards. ONLY CASH. Good thing is they have an ATM on-site. I can eat here regularly and never get tired.

Bronx is AMAAAAZING! The crust, the sauce, the cheese...*insert tears of goodness here* So I've eaten lots of pizza in my lifetime. I've had enough pizza to judge that Bronx is one of the top contenders in SD in terms of NY pizza. They got all the elements down: foldable slices, the cheese that goes harmoniously with the marinara is then slathered on top and ever so shimmers with glory, and the crust is ever so crispy...airy...and amazing. When I picked up my slices for the first time, I inhaled all that cheesy goodness and couldn't wait to sit down at the table to scarf it all down. My first stop was a dine-in, and just a reminder that they take cash only! They have lots of tables out in the back. Pizza took a while to get warmed up when it's busy. I highly, highly recommend trying Bronx on your day off. They won't disappoint.

Bronx Pizza is a go to. The pepperoni and sausage pizza was really good Big slices, thin crust, and solid flavor. Nothing fancy, just really good pizza. Definitely worth stopping by and I'd come back for sure.

Came here on a busy Saturday night, and although the line to order was long, it moved surprisingly quickly. I tried a slice of the Margherita and the Pesto pizza, both were freshly made, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The taste instantly reminded me of my trip to New York, and even the vibe inside felt similar. It was definitely crowded, and while there's plenty of indoor seating, finding a spot to sit wasn't easy. They also reheat the slices in the oven before serving, so there's a small wait, but the result is well worth it. Overall, a fantastic spot for pizza - I'll definitely be coming back often!

If you like thin crust pizza this is your go to. Reasonably priced. Huge slices. Fresh and flavorful even for a pepperoni. Great customer service. One of the best thin crust in town. Cash only.

Best White Stone pizza ever! The pesto pizza was just okay, but the White Stone was by far the best pizza I've had. The service is quick, and it's a cash-only spot. The pizza is made fresh, so it comes out hot and warm every time. The ambiance is very laid-back, making it perfect for a late-night pizza run or a casual lunch.

I was born and raised in the Bronx, and Bronx pizza was all I knew until I went to college. So, I think I can appropriately weigh in on what good pizza from my borough is. Pizza will forever be a hot topic with New Yorkers - everyone will have their own opinion on what makes a good best NY slice. You can even go so far as to include the greater tristate area as NJ and CT regularly weigh in with their offerings. But we're specifically talking about Bronx pizza today; I may be biased but I think it's some of the best pizza there is. Even though I now live in Westchester, I will usually only have pizza when I'm in the Bronx because nothing up here comes close to it. Why am I mentioning all of this? Because when I saw a place in San Diego called Bronx Pizza, my first reaction was "oh really??" - and even though I was in California, my curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to check it out. That being said, we made plans to grab lunch here after a day of exploring Balboa Park. Upon entry, BP gives off NY pizzeria aesthetic. You're immediately greeted by the production area which has pies on display. Beyond that, though, is a really spacious seating area which I didn't expect - so it's not hard to find a table if you're looking to dine in. The walls are filled with Italian-American and Bronx/NYC memorabilia which I thought was a nice touch. We noticed they had a special which came with two slices and a drink. That sounded perfect so I got a plain cheese and a pepperoni. The slices were heated and then we were called once they were ready. So, how was it? They came close, I think as close as they could. It was definitely a thin NY style slice, but the crust lacked that slight chewiness; that's partly due to the water - something that just can't be replicated. I also thought the sauce was a little bland, but not a dealbreaker for me. Outside of that, they were good slices. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, while BP does not totally replicate a Bronx slice, they do a great job making NY style pizza; this is likely a place I would order from regularly if I lived in SD. It's also nice to see all the love this place gets from locals and the positive representation it gives to the borough. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for great pizza in San Diego.

Went here for a quick late lunch the other day. This is a cash only, no frills, very chill BEST pizza in SD. At least top 5. Street parking only. There are 1-2 spots metered in front. They have simple ingredients. Not even close to overly saucy or greasy. No ranch ok. Rustic style crust. Brooklyn style pizza. Canned sodas. They offer parmesean cheese, pepper flakes, oregano basil blend for optional toppers. They also serve whole pies just order ahead. Prices have been fair since I knew of this place years ago. Come hungry and leave full to one of the best pizza spots in town.

Is your (new) Italian sausage permanent of temporary. My sausage tastes so bad of freezer burn I had to take it all off to enjoy. Please bring back the OG sausage?! 🙏🏼

If you have a problem with your pizza order call the restaurant they'll make it right. I personally don't like the sausage, but I'm also a picky eater

I am sorry to ask but I am Siciliano and cannot handle wet dough pizza since we use Focaccia bread down there - does Bronx style include the soft center or a wet part or are your pies cooked until the crust is firm?…

Don, as a former NYr they don't have Sicilian, just the best Neapolitan pies with great thin crust. Also Calzones. Voted top 20 pizzerias in the US!!

Are slices available every day of the week now?

    Yes, every single day

    Is it cash only?

Yes it's cash only, they do have an ATM on premises..

    Gluten free options?

    No but it tastes amazing

    Is Dine-in back?

No, take away is here to stay

Do they offer any delivery service. Not on door dash?

Sorry no delivery, come pick it up, we’ll have it ready when you get here😃

How long does it typically take for them to make one pie for takeout?

About 20 minutes. Call ahead and order so you don't have to wait.

Have they started up dine in again yet? Or selling by the slice?

Selling slices now, but not open yet… opening soon!

    Do you deliver to 91913?

They don't deliver ANYWHERE. Go pick it up yourself.

    Is your restaurant dog friendly?

Never seen a dog inside but not sure. Been there many many times

Do they do deep dish pizza?

Negative! Bronx = NY, deep dish is Chicago style! ;-) Have a nice day.

When you order a whole pie will they do a half-half if you request? E.x. Half pepperoni half cheese

Absolutely! They've done this for us in the past

Do they truly use water from NY?

It’s not heavy or hard to ship because they bring it in dehydrated.

Pizza Wasn't the Only Thing Getting Fired Up Outside…read more We weren't even customers here, but after what I saw outside this place I definitely won't be one in the future. We were standing on the sidewalk near the red seating area in front of Filippi's Pizza Grotto for about ten minutes finishing a smoke. I had recently experienced a flare-up of a chronic illness, which significantly affected my well-being. During this episode,I had felt the need to smoke as a way to manage the heightened stress and discomfort caused by my condition. Right as we finished and were about to leave, a police car pulled up (it honestly looked like the officer was just stopping by to grab lunch). That's when an older lady employee from the restaurant suddenly came outside and said, "Do you mind moving down? The smoke is going into my restaurant." Fair request. We immediately responded respectfully with "Sorry miss," and started walking away to avoid any issue. But instead of leaving it there, she kept escalating the situation while they were already leaving, repeating things like "This is a family business, have some respect!" -- which didn't really make sense considering we had already apologized and were doing exactly what she asked. What made the whole thing feel strange was the timing. We had been standing there for around ten minutes already. If the smoke was truly bothering the restaurant, why wait until the exact moment a police car pulled up to come outside and confront us? From the outside, it honestly looked like the presence of the police suddenly gave her the confidence to make a scene and try to draw attention to us even though we were already complying. It appears she wanted to get us into legal trouble with her making it a bigger scene in front of the police. Another thing that didn't sit right with me was that we were the only Hispanics standing in the area at the time and the only people she chose to confront. I'm not saying that was the intention, but from a bystander's perspective it definitely didn't look great. Also, I'm still confused by the "this is a family restaurant" comment. What exactly does that mean in this situation? Are people who smoke not allowed to eat there? Because we weren't even customers at the moment we were simply standing on a public sidewalk and immediately moved when asked. If someone respectfully complies with your request, there's really no reason to continue escalating the situation or trying to involve the police by drawing attention to it. If this is how people are treated outside the restaurant, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence about how customers are treated inside. It appears that if you're Hispanic or a smoker you should steer clear of this place. I wouldn't be surprised if she has ICE on speed dial.

I got the burrata pizza. This was my fault cause i was still expecting sauce but there was none. Which I kind of understand but for $19 I would have rather just got a burrata platter as like a dip. The dough was honestly amazing. Crust is very fluffy, closer to the center is extremely thin. Overall it was good and fresh but I wouldn't pay $19 for it again. Sister got the spicy salami. Again the dough was good. Sauce was good definitely a more savory red sauce. Salami was fs spicy, we love spice but this fs had a kick. Overall good I think it could have been great with a hot honey. Pizza is on the bigger side. There's only 4 slices but it's more like 8 regular slices. More than enough for one person. We both only had half and saved the rest for home. To wrap it up, the ambiance is good for a nice night out but the food is only ok for the price. Very fresh and good but I would rather spend less on a good pizza than more on a gourmet place. Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.

I recommend this sangrias (and both red & white are good, depending on if you want something more rich or more lite). Just look at the photo of the Burrata Crostini and you'll know what to order. Fresh cheese and fresh pesto with a nice crunch. The arancini (fried risotto balls with marinara, basil, etc.) are also delicious. I take all my out-of-towners here. The hostesses can be hit-and-miss sometimes-- where I wish they were more welcoming--but nothing egregious and they're just busy. Servers were nice though.

We grabbed a table outside and the weather was absolutely perfect, which made the whole experience even better. We ordered the arancini, burrata, calamari, and meatballs, and everything was delicious. You really can't beat the quality for the price--especially during happy hour. The standout for me, though, was the red sangria... easily one of the best I've had in a long time. Service was quick and attentive, though to be fair there were only a handful of tables at the time. Still, everything came out promptly and we felt well taken care of. Overall, a great spot for a relaxed lunch or happy hour in Little Italy. I'll definitely be back to take advantage of those deals again!

Bartender was attentive and friendly. We ordered a caesar salad (to share) and the Spaghettini al Pomodoro, along with a couple of cold beers. The caesar was generous in size and really fresh & delicious. The Spaghettini al Pomodoro we requested spicy and it was absolutely amazing!!! If we weren't so full already, I would have ordered another plate of that for us to split. That's how good it was. We should have just ordered another anyway "to go" LOL Seriously, that's how good it was... We were only in town for the one night, but next time we're in San Diego, we're definitely coming back here, that how memorable this pasta was! Note- **Happy hour menu - from 3 to 6 pm - great food options and some great drink choices.**

We were set up in the back of the restaurant in our own private outdoor area, which felt perfect for the group. The first hour was drinks, and then the food started coming out slowly, all served family‑style -- which I loved. We tried two delicious salads, and there was plenty of food for an event of about 50 people. Next came the Focaccia di Recco, which is my absolute favorite thing they serve here. I honestly come just for this. It's served with a honeycomb on the side, and drizzling the honey over the warm, cheesy bread is next‑level. After that, pizzas came out -- simple, toasty, and really good -- followed by pasta with chicken and sausage served on the side. Everyone left with full bellies. The service was great, and they even wrapped and boxed all the leftovers for us. One thing to note: they do the whole photo‑taking and printed‑photo sales pitch, kind of like what you see at amusement parks when you first walk in. The photos are cute, but it can feel a little invasive. Overall, a lovely restaurant and a great event experience.
