It's been really hot lately so after work my husband thought it would be best to get take out instead of cooking at home. When he said he wanted to trying Square Pizza in PB I knew I was in, one his co-workers had raved about it to him. Plenty of street parking which was really nice especially for PB. Since we had our dog we both took turns choosing which slices we would get, I really wanted to try the buffalo chicken pizza and Bryan got their meat pizza and an order of Brazilian cheese bread. Everyone was super friendly when we went in and they had an option to buy their dough so you can make your own pizza, love that, but I'll hold off until after Summer. When the food was ready, we decided to each have a slice and some bread. That cheese bread is insane, so light but packed with cheese and so much good flavor. I opted to try the buffalo chicken one first and it was good, the crust was flavorful and crispy but there wasn't a good ratio between toppings, but that meat slice was amazing. Square Pizza will satisfy your Detroit loving pizza heart!! The crust was light, airy, and chewy on the inside, with a crispy, golden-brown fried exterior, without being oily or heavy. We ordered the Mercury and the toppings were the perfect ratio; peppers and onions retained a lovely crispness! The sauce was bit cold for my liking and I was surprised that they didn't use the traditional Wisconsin brick cheese but instead opted for a cheese blend. They do use Wisconsin cheese on their Sicilian and the slice of Bianca that we shared was delightful! We are looking forward to our next visit! read more

My friend had this on her list for a while, so we ended up checking it out on a weekday! It wasn't crowded, and the two guys who were behind the counter were both friendly and helpful. We ordered to go, and sat on the picnic tables outside. There were some flies so I'd recommend keeping your pizza boxes covered. I ended up ordering four different slices to try a variety of flavors: Dodge (spinach, mushroom, ricotta, and garlic): This was by far my favorite. I love the creaminess of the ricotta and how all of the ingredients meshed together so well. Corvette (pepperoni and sausage): I liked the combination of the pepperoni and sausage. Firebird (buffalo chicken, onion, Calabrian chili, buffalo and ranch drizzle): I liked the ingredients on this, but the chicken was a bit dry. Pontiac (pepperoni): This was overall good, but I wish the pepperoni were spread out more evenly. The pizza slices were crispy and very filling. Each slice felt substantial, and they conveniently cut each slice in half for you. I also appreciated that they reheated the slices in the oven, making them taste as if they had just come out fresh. First timer here on a Friday around 6pm. Great service (bit of a wait but well worth it) Tried the Cadillac and Hellcat Detroit style. Cadillac 4/5 - Great pizza! Love the crisp and toppings and the flavor goes so well! But I think our pizza was slightly rushed because in the center, it was a little uncooked but other than. Pizza is SOLID Hellcat 3/5 - Want to give a less rating because I personally didn't enjoy it but can't take away that it was cooked the same way as the Cadillac and it was crispy as well. But it was BEYOND too sweet and pizza was not edible for me. But it's just not for me so can't go too bad on the review. Seating 4/5 - Good amount seating outside, inside is super crammed and you'll get people bumping into you inside trying to look at the menu and adding additional condiments. But outside seating only (bring a sweater at night) Price - I would say it's worth it, the slices are large and filling. Steep at $30 roughly but it last me and my wife 3 days or so. read more

Even though a line started to form he still took his time to explained the pizza types, ordering process (depending if you want the slice vs a whole pizza). If you want slices then it's whatever they have available at the display case. Detriot style slices run about $7-$8 each depending on the flavor/topping. I thought it's a nice touch that all the slices are named after cars. Pontiac - cheese blend, red sauce, cupping pepperoni (classic pepperoni 4/5) Dodge - spinach, mushroom, ricotta, and garlic (the ricotta was so creamy 4/5) Corvette - pepperoni, sausage (3.5/5) They do reheat for you and takes about 5 minutes after ordering. I ordered online on toast and food was ready before I got there. You can't go wrong with any types of pizza there. Ranch goes well with the pizza. Fantastic pizza. True Detroit style and if you've never tried it you should. This is not deep dish from Chicago - the dough is surprisingly light and fluffy. But it's the caramelized edges that you live for- so good! Sauce is great as were the ingredients. The sausage and pepperoni and cooked just right- curled up and a little brown, full of flavor. It's not a 5 for me only because of the ambiance. It's just ok. This is really a grab and go place, although there are a few tables outside. The front of the store is just a bit messy and confusing- looks like they use some of the space for their deliveries. This is a casual laid back place. The guy who took my order was nice enough. What We Ordered: -Pontiac $25.00 We were visiting SD for the weekend! Since, my parents and I are native New Englanders who no longer living there. We were all craving Roast Beefs - we went next door to Jim's. Since, we have a preschooler. I wasn't sure if he would like the roast beef and whether or not we had enough food for everyone. Another day another great pizza from square pizza! This time I came on a Saturday afternoon. I called about 25 minutes before to place my order. When I got there about 25 minutes later, unfortunately my ticket was misplaced and my pizza was never made. Fortunately I wasn't in a rush and I waited about 15-20 minutes to get my pizza. I got the hell cat and it's a must try! The hot honey drizzle on top is to die for and even though my pizza took longer than expected, it was worth the wait. The crust was soft and chewy, the edges were crispy and chewy. The sauce had a fantastic flavor, but wasn't overwhelming the rest of the slice. It was hot, delicious, but not overly greasy. Everything about it blew my mind and I'm genuinely excited to heat up the leftovers tomorrow and eat it again. Service was friendly and upbeat. I ordered online and arrived about 10 minutes early thinking I'd have to wait, because it was a Friday night. Nope, it had just come out of the oven and was ready for me. The location of this establishment is perfect. We couldn't decide between a sandwich or pizza so we got food from two locations. There is a sandwich restaurant next to this place (see my other review). The staff were friendly and recommended something based on our food craving for the day. We got a deep dish with half and half for us and the kids. The food smells amazing and the food tastes even better. Again the location for this place is great. Omg I can't believe I haven't written a review for here yet-- my boyfriend and I have been coming here for months now and this is hands down our favorite pizza spot in San Diego (we are pizza fanatics). Every time we deviate and try a new place... yes I'm going to name drop Prince Street pizza, Bronx, etc etc... we immediately miss Square pizza. I am gluten free / dairy free and holy moly their gf / df pizzas are insane. Light and fluffy, vegan cheese melts like a dream. I love pizza and trying new pizza spots is a hobby I love to do. Square pizza is a small shop with benches out front to sit at if you are eating there. It didn't take too long to get our pizza after order which is a good and bad thing. Good since I can eat sooner, but I wish the pizza was a little hotter when it came out. I would've happily waited another few minutes to really get it piping hot. We had the Ford, Mercury, and Dodge. All three were great. The crust was crunchy and the cheese was crispy at the edges! After hearing about Square Pizza, this place was on my top radar of pizza places to try. I was extremely excited to try this place just from the pictures. The slices we got were around $7 each (they slice it in 2 when they bring it out) which is on the pricier side, however these Detroit slices are quite filling. There's no inside seating but there are a few tables outside where we were able to eat. Service was friendly and quick, they brought out our slices in about 5-10 minutes. Between the slices we got (All Detroit-style), the classic Ford was my favorite! Classic sauce on top with just some cheese and basil, this was done really well. The Mercury comes with Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Pepperoni, and Olives. I felt that the ingredients were just okay and the pepperoni had a slight outside burnt crisp to them which I wasn't a fan of. The Dodge has Spinach, Ricotta, Mushrooms and Garlic. I liked this one more than the Mercury since the toppings were a bit more unique and they stood out by themselves. The crust on these Detroit slices are amazing! Crunchy on the outside with that strong bite of the cheese baked into the crust. My one big complaint (not sure if I'm an outlier) is that although the slices were warmed up, I felt like they weren't really hot when we took our first bites. They were warm, but not piping hot (which I think should be the way). And because of this, not only is the first bite not as explosive, but the other slices got room temperature way too fast. I would much rather have the pizza be scorching hot when it comes out since that's when it's going to taste the best. read more
