We had such an excellent experience. They had a great selection pizzas by slice so we tried several different slices. Young man who helped us was so friendly and courteous. who explained the ingredients of all the pizzas brilliant. Enjoy all of them, particularly be destroyed style pieces. This is a very relaxing comfortable place. There's not a lot of Steven there's some inside outside, but nevertheless, it is certainly worth a visit if you want great pizza in the San Diego area.
First timer here on a Friday around 6pm. Great service (bit of a wait but well worth it) Tried the Cadillac and Hellcat Detroit style. Cadillac 4/5 - Great pizza! Love the crisp and toppings and the flavor goes so well! But I think our pizza was slightly rushed because in the center, it was a little uncooked but other than. Pizza is SOLID Hellcat 3/5 - Want to give a less rating because I personally didn't enjoy it but can't take away that it was cooked the same way as the Cadillac and it was crispy as well. But it was BEYOND too sweet and pizza was not edible for me. But it's just not for me so can't go too bad on the review. Seating 4/5 - Good amount seating outside, inside is super crammed and you'll get people bumping into you inside trying to look at the menu and adding additional condiments. But outside seating only (bring a sweater at night) Price - I would say it's worth it, the slices are large and filling. Steep at $30 roughly but it last me and my wife 3 days or so.
The friendliest customer service! I felt I was treated like a regular even thought it's my first time here. Even though a line started to form he still took his time to explained the pizza types, ordering process (depending if you want the slice vs a whole pizza). If you want slices then it's whatever they have available at the display case. Detriot style slices run about $7-$8 each depending on the flavor/topping. I thought it's a nice touch that all the slices are named after cars. Pontiac - cheese blend, red sauce, cupping pepperoni (classic pepperoni 4/5) Dodge - spinach, mushroom, ricotta, and garlic (the ricotta was so creamy 4/5) Corvette - pepperoni, sausage (3.5/5) They do reheat for you and takes about 5 minutes after ordering. Free parking is near impossible and the lots nearby are very pricey. There's a good amount of outdoor seating out front.
Detroit style pizza done right. This place is a must if your is PB. There are so many pizza joints in the area but hands down the best. Way better than prince st. The service is top notch. I ordered online on toast and food was ready before I got there. You can't go wrong with any types of pizza there. Ranch goes well with the pizza. Ambiance isn't the best but walk down to the beach and eat. There aren't much tables there and your fighting for a spot to sit. Some tables are shaded and some are not.
I ordered the GM pizza (meatballs, ricotta, huge basil pieces) and it was really tasty. I'm a big fan of Detroit style pizza. The price wasn't bad either. I also tried one of their cannolis with pistachios which was also delicious. I ordered online because they tend to be pretty busy, and it's a small shop. My order was ready when I arrived. Service was friendly.
Square Pizza is the BOMB.com! Love their delicious deep dish Detroit pizzas~Some of my favorites are T-Bird(BBQ chicken w/onion) pizza, Corvette(cupped pepperoni and sausage), and pretty much almost any slice on the menu. I heard that the Cadillac is delicious(meatball pizza) so I will be back for it. Staff is very friendly and there are plenty of clean tables. Their service is through the roof, everyone is so friendly and helpful. I have an amazing experienve everytime. I'm SO glad that they are here. Way better than Prince St. pizza, and certainly more delicious for sure!
Pretty good Detroit style pizza spot in PB, u order at the counter and chose ur slice(s), they will bring it to you once ready (doesn't take long) and there's red pepper, garlic powder, oregano, ranch, etc. Inside the restaurant is quite small but there's outdoor seating and each slice comes cut in half, it's a good size, I could barely finish one slice. Overall very good.
Fantastic pizza. True Detroit style and if you've never tried it you should. This is not deep dish from Chicago - the dough is surprisingly light and fluffy. But it's the caramelized edges that you live for- so good! Sauce is great as were the ingredients. The sausage and pepperoni and cooked just right- curled up and a little brown, full of flavor. It's not a 5 for me only because of the ambiance. It's just ok. This is really a grab and go place, although there are a few tables outside. The front of the store is just a bit messy and confusing- looks like they use some of the space for their deliveries. This is a casual laid back place. The guy who took my order was nice enough. They are busy and churn out pizzas. Delicious pizza in a take out location. Worth coming to!
Delicious pepperoni pizza! It was Detroit style! So so good!! Makes sense they got the number one Detroit Pizza award.
We heard good things about this place. We decided to check it out. For Saturday night it was pretty busy which was expected. It is a tiny little pizza shop. The food was decent. We ordered each a slice to try. They heated it up, but unfortunately, it was cold and could use a little more Cooking. Now the cheese bread was on point all the stars are for the cheese bread.
What We Ordered: -Pontiac $25.00 We were visiting SD for the weekend! Since, my parents and I are native New Englanders who no longer living there. We were all craving Roast Beefs - we went next door to Jim's. Since, we have a preschooler. I wasn't sure if he would like the roast beef and whether or not we had enough food for everyone. So I came here to order a pie to make sure we had enough food. We ordered a Detroit-style pepperoni pizza called the Pontiac. The sauce was excellent. It's tangy and tasty! There was also a nice crunch to the crust! All in all, a solid pie! If we lived close by, this would be my go-to place. It was pretty good! To the dismay of my mother, I consumed a few too many slices. She just wanted more leftovers for the next day. Not on my watch! LOL! It did make a great breakfast the next day!
Square Pizza Co. on Cass St. in Pacific Beach home of the square pizza offers Detroit style square pizza baked to perfection. A small but bustling store, Square Pizza cranks out an assortment of pies from Detroit Style, Thin Crust and Sicilian style. As this with my first visit had to order a whole pie Detroit style of course with cupped pepperonis. Starting with a corner slice, the edges were crunchy and each bite was packed full of flavor with the generous amount of red sauce paired with the thick doughy pillowy crust. These slices are thicc and will leave you feeling satisfied. Service was warm and welcoming with exclusively outdoor seating. Highly recommend if you are craving a Detroit Style pizza.
It's been really hot lately so after work my husband thought it would be best to get take out instead of cooking at home. When he said he wanted to trying Square Pizza in PB I knew I was in, one his co-workers had raved about it to him. Plenty of street parking which was really nice especially for PB. Since we had our dog we both took turns choosing which slices we would get, I really wanted to try the buffalo chicken pizza and Bryan got their meat pizza and an order of Brazilian cheese bread. Everyone was super friendly when we went in and they had an option to buy their dough so you can make your own pizza, love that, but I'll hold off until after Summer. When the food was ready, we decided to each have a slice and some bread. That cheese bread is insane, so light but packed with cheese and so much good flavor. I opted to try the buffalo chicken one first and it was good, the crust was flavorful and crispy but there wasn't a good ratio between toppings, but that meat slice was amazing. The sauce, the toppings, the crust crispiness was perfect, would come back for that! read more
Square Pizza will satisfy your Detroit loving pizza heart!! The crust was light, airy, and chewy on the inside, with a crispy, golden-brown fried exterior, without being oily or heavy. We ordered the Mercury and the toppings were the perfect ratio; peppers and onions retained a lovely crispness! The sauce was bit cold for my liking and I was surprised that they didn't use the traditional Wisconsin brick cheese but instead opted for a cheese blend. They do use Wisconsin cheese on their Sicilian and the slice of Bianca that we shared was delightful! We are looking forward to our next visit! read more
My friend had this on her list for a while, so we ended up checking it out on a weekday! It wasn't crowded, and the two guys who were behind the counter were both friendly and helpful. We ordered to go, and sat on the picnic tables outside. There were some flies so I'd recommend keeping your pizza boxes covered. I ended up ordering four different slices to try a variety of flavors: Dodge (spinach, mushroom, ricotta, and garlic): This was by far my favorite. I love the creaminess of the ricotta and how all of the ingredients meshed together so well. Corvette (pepperoni and sausage): I liked the combination of the pepperoni and sausage. Firebird (buffalo chicken, onion, Calabrian chili, buffalo and ranch drizzle): I liked the ingredients on this, but the chicken was a bit dry. Pontiac (pepperoni): This was overall good, but I wish the pepperoni were spread out more evenly. The pizza slices were crispy and very filling. Each slice felt substantial, and they conveniently cut each slice in half for you. I also appreciated that they reheated the slices in the oven, making them taste as if they had just come out fresh. Overall, Square Pizza is a solid choice, and will fulfill your pizza cravings! read more

Another day another great pizza from square pizza! This time I came on a Saturday afternoon. I called about 25 minutes before to place my order. When I got there about 25 minutes later, unfortunately my ticket was misplaced and my pizza was never made. Fortunately I wasn't in a rush and I waited about 15-20 minutes to get my pizza. I got the hell cat and it's a must try! The hot honey drizzle on top is to die for and even though my pizza took longer than expected, it was worth the wait. The service was good and they offered me a free drink for the inconvenience. Love this place! read more

The location of this establishment is perfect. We couldn't decide between a sandwich or pizza so we got food from two locations. There is a sandwich restaurant next to this place (see my other review). The staff were friendly and recommended something based on our food craving for the day. We got a deep dish with half and half for us and the kids. The food smells amazing and the food tastes even better. Again the location for this place is great. We ate outside and enjoyed the ocean breeze and we all left stuffed. We wanted more pizza but no one could eat anymore. 10/10 must try read more

Detroit style pizza loaded with toppings! They suggested two pizzas and we ordered three because we were hungry, well, they were right, we took one home! Crispy on the edges and gooey cheese and toppings spilling over, yes please! We enjoyed the Pontiac 2.0, Cadillac, and the PB Drive. We can't wait to come back when we are in town! read more
Sorry to say, the consensus on the pizza was meh. Five stars for the hipster staff. We ordered sausage with extra garlic. First slice was yummy cause we're really hungry, second, not so much. Don't pay much attention to this review if you're young and had a lot of beer. We're old and picky. Regardless, support local! read more

I love pizza and trying new pizza spots is a hobby I love to do. Square pizza is a small shop with benches out front to sit at if you are eating there. It didn't take too long to get our pizza after order which is a good and bad thing. Good since I can eat sooner, but I wish the pizza was a little hotter when it came out. I would've happily waited another few minutes to really get it piping hot. We had the Ford, Mercury, and Dodge. All three were great. The crust was crunchy and the cheese was crispy at the edges! I'm a big fan of the corner slices! read more

After hearing about Square Pizza, this place was on my top radar of pizza places to try. I was extremely excited to try this place just from the pictures. The slices we got were around $7 each (they slice it in 2 when they bring it out) which is on the pricier side, however these Detroit slices are quite filling. There's no inside seating but there are a few tables outside where we were able to eat. Service was friendly and quick, they brought out our slices in about 5-10 minutes. Between the slices we got (All Detroit-style), the classic Ford was my favorite! Classic sauce on top with just some cheese and basil, this was done really well. The Mercury comes with Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Pepperoni, and Olives. I felt that the ingredients were just okay and the pepperoni had a slight outside burnt crisp to them which I wasn't a fan of. The Dodge has Spinach, Ricotta, Mushrooms and Garlic. I liked this one more than the Mercury since the toppings were a bit more unique and they stood out by themselves. The crust on these Detroit slices are amazing! Crunchy on the outside with that strong bite of the cheese baked into the crust. My one big complaint (not sure if I'm an outlier) is that although the slices were warmed up, I felt like they weren't really hot when we took our first bites. They were warm, but not piping hot (which I think should be the way). And because of this, not only is the first bite not as explosive, but the other slices got room temperature way too fast. I would much rather have the pizza be scorching hot when it comes out since that's when it's going to taste the best. read more

This is the kind of pizza you want to bring home to mama. Oh and the cookies are dumb fire, so what are you waiting for? I know your fridge is overloaded with turkey day leftovies, but once the dust has settled, you'll wanna scoot your boots down to Cass street for this MUST HAVE pizza pie. Located on a hot little foodie block with the likes of Dave's HC, Harry's TC, Cass St. B&G, and Big Jim's RB, lies this absolute GEM of a pizza palace. It was important to mention those other spots as that's what initially brought me to the area. After shoveling down nearly an entire burrito, we began strolling past Square, when I decided to pop in and "just have a look". Well, what started as just having a look, turned into two slices and two cookies. I believe the total came in at around $18, which seemed pretty reasonable for what they deemed "the best cookies", and a couple delicious looking, thicker than a snicker, slices of pie. Needless to say, if I couldn't finish the burrito, I had no business trying to eat pizza that night, so in the fridge it went. After scarfing down on those spectacular and rotund cookies (also a MUST HAVE), the pizza sat lonely in the fridge from Friday until Monday evening. Thinking I had probably wasted my money by leaving the pizza in the box for 3 days in the fridge, I figured I'd take my chances and throw that pepperoni in the oven at 450 degrees for 5-7 minutes. What came out was some of the best pie I've had in San Diego. Believe it or not, we did the same thing with a slice of the white pie the next night, Day 4, and it too was supremely delicious! I don't advise leaving your pie in the fridge for several days, but if you do, just know you'll still have some excellent eats coming your way. Absolutely bomb pizza, oh the crust, and some incredible cookies, makes this place a must see. Thanks to the friendly and helpful cashier who recommended the cookies. I'll most definitely be back!!! read more
