Long sigh... I really wanted to like this place. I've been searching for a new pizza spot in the area and this restaurant had a lot of great reviews. Yes, there were some bad ones too, but enough five-star ratings that I figured it was worth a try. Unfortunately, after the first bite, I couldn't even finish a slice. The pizza had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite place, and it didn't taste like quality ingredients. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and that's not my goal here, but I was genuinely disappointed. We ended up throwing the pizza away and ordering something else. I'd say order with caution unless you already know and love this place. Btw-the pizza doesn't look bad. See my picture. Nice people run this store, However, tossed the pizza after one piece and I have never tossed a pizza in my life. Low quality that I could taste immediately. This was the first time we tried Fernando's Pizza. My husband, nephew and myself had stopped in about an hour before closing time on a Sunday evening. This is a tiny, casual, restaurant which I assume that take-out orders is the heart of their business. However, tonight, we all decided to eat in the restaurant. There was 1 other table with in-restaurant diners. Very friendly staff took our order for a BBQ Chicken pizza with a garlic crust, order of Mango habanero chicken wings, and a salad. The pizza was very good with fresh ingredients, and the crust texture was just okay/average. The "garlic" part of the crust was just a sprinkling of granulated garlic seasoning; it was slightly burned onto the crust - we do not recommend ordering this "garlic" crust option. The mango wings were very spicy, and heavily sauced which we all thought were above average. The salad had crisp, fresh vegetables and we chose the Caesar dressing which was tasty. Ended up that the other table of diners included the owner. Had a nice chat with him, been in business 17 years in Spring Valley (this was their 2nd location since the old location was removed for a new housing project. The men rated Fernando's a 3 (I felt that score was too low) - though everything was good, it wasn't exceptional. We might try it again, ehh. Fernando's is a Spring Valley staple. My family and I began eating Fernando's at their old location and were so bummed when they were closed during their transition to this newer location. They are family own business that consistently provides great quality taste and value. My child's pizza order is a little specific and if I forget one item, they usually will call back to confirm. I don't think I've ever gotten such quality service from another quick service restaurant. We have also purchased their food for events to which we always receive a ton of compliments. I love the variety they offer, including gluten-free crusts, specialty pizzas, salads and sandwiches. You do need to call in your order as they do not do online ordering. We have never had any issues with the ordering or food despite years of frequent visits. This place is truly a gem. read more

We also ordered an XL half pepperoni half cheese with extra cheese and that one was just as savory. Love the way all the ingredients are spread out with very little crust. Don't ask for thin crust "thin crust costs MORE " that's what she said. As far as I know less dough should cost less; l ask for an extra crisp pizza which cost $1.00 MORE, when the pizza comes out it was burned, obviously they forgot about the pizza since everyone behind the counter were in their devices. I didn't mind the burning bottom or the use of devices at work, but I think once you get distracted at work and deliver a burn pizza is time to concentrate in what you are doing. Instead of accepting their failure and ask me if the pizza was burned and provide me with a non burning pizza. Any other person would make them remake a new pizza, me I just write reviews and I just evaluate restaurants. The ambience was a little weird, when I arrived to the parking lot,and finds that the pizza place was smashed probably the night before by a big truck or something big, the post that supposed to hold the the porch's roof outside the restaurant was in pieces of concrete on the floor, police tape around it, but very unsafe to walk into the restaurant. Inside there were like family members of the staff, I assumed because of the family conversations, they never ordered anything during the hour I was there eating my charcoal tasting pizza. The issue I found was that they didn't respect my online coupon I present when order, no explanation date on it but she said "that coupon is old". The other issue I had, was the partisano cheese and the red pepper, I ask for them and she said "you only get 3 of each " I don't think that's a way to serve customers, if a customer ask for more spices, they should be able to provide more in order to keep customers happy and satisfied. Because of the charcoal flavor, I was not able to identify the real taste of the pizza; therefore is 10% chance I come back to that pizza place.
