Still the Best pizza in town! Don't forget to try the flavor crust. Pick any flavor & enjoy. All the specials are a great deal & value.

Long sigh... I really wanted to like this place. I've been searching for a new pizza spot in the area and this restaurant had a lot of great reviews. Yes, there were some bad ones too, but enough five-star ratings that I figured it was worth a try. Unfortunately, after the first bite, I couldn't even finish a slice. The pizza had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite place, and it didn't taste like quality ingredients. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, and that's not my goal here, but I was genuinely disappointed. We ended up throwing the pizza away and ordering something else. I'd say order with caution unless you already know and love this place. Btw-the pizza doesn't look bad. See my picture. Idk.‍ the people working in the restaurant were friendly and the restaurant was clean and located within a strip mall.

Great spot to grab pizza. Service was great! The restaurant was clean and had plenty of seating. They offer alcoholic drinks and soft drinks. We ordered a medium pepperoni and mushroom pizza with the garlic stuffed cheese crust. The was very yummy . We also order the garlic wings also hit the spot. Parking was easy and service was fast.

. The pizza is so good, the wings never miss, and they have pasta, salads, and beer too. Everything we've ordered has been delicious. Definitely one of my favorite local spots ! Also family owned definitely check them out if you havent yet.

Nice people run this store, However, tossed the pizza after one piece and I have never tossed a pizza in my life. Low quality that I could taste immediately. Service was great and the price was affordable. It is in a small strip mall and it is very clean. I really want to like the pizza as the folks running it are so nice. The cheese used was fine but the crust had a frozen pizza quality.

If you're sick of chain pizza places, you gotta try Fernando's! Been a loyal customer since their last location and then they closed but luckily they opened again after the pandemic. Very fresh ingredients and great flavor! They are always so friendly! The restaurant is nice and clean. I will definitely always recommend Fernando's!

Hawaiian pizza with onion and sesame crust.

The food is really good, I was a little skeptical at first when I heard it was the best pizza around here and IT REALLY IS! Flavor is great! Toppings are amazing and they really do a great job not only with the dough but with the crust (dough) Their wings are really good! Baked not fried and their sauces are AMAZING! I highly recommend this place and the owner is so lovely and truly nice!

Their menu offers a great variety of options, and the food is absolutely delicious. You can truly taste the quality and care in every bite. Highly recommend supporting this spot!

Gelato: believe it was a coffee one Everything has been freaking delicious, fresh, great portions, definitely a spot I visit once a week lol. The crazy calabrese was a little on the salty side but it was still pretty good. Best sandwich so far has been the spicy sicilian. The market is well sorted with lots of interesting items and fair prices. The only thing is their tall cans of craft beer. A lot of them were old or had no date on the bottom of the can and as someone who works in the beer industry let me tell you. Beer does go bad. Not in a you can't drink it kind of way but flavor declines, especially craft beer. Skunky, taste changes, aroma changes, color changes, it's just not great. I picked up a can that was dated May 2025, for craft that is OLD and not good. Not a problem for your average person but I'm just letting y'all know. Nonetheless this place is delicious, the service is great, fast, friendly. The food is overall good, the market is nice and well sorted. What I don't understand are the comments that say I been here so many times but never left a good review, suddenly they have one bad experience over something like not enough lettuce or they ran out of something and leave a bad review. GTFOH! And no I wasn't paid for this review or know anyone from this business, I just hate what yell has become

Over the years that I've been coming here, I've been pleasantly surprised to find that the quality, portion size, and price point has kept pace with inflation and remains the best sandwich option in East County." I'm certainly not the longest-running customer of this spot, but I have been coming to Grove Grinder ever since I moved to the area four years ago. I kept coming back, wrote rave reviews in San Diego food-related social media groups and threads, bugged food influencers about them, and sent many of my friends and family their direction because I was that big of a fan. My husband and I have taken these sandwiches on roadtrips and plane rides, grabbed them in the middle of household chores, and picked them up for each other when the other is too tired or sick to cook. The reason why I'm ultimately knocking this review back and heavily questioning whether I should return has to do with a disappointing experience from my last visit with my husband that we now think was part of a larger pattern. The past couple of times we saw this person at the register, we used my name for the order. This time, though, my husband gave his name instead and the person at the register gave him some attitude about it and asked "You're *really* going with that?" I don't understand what their problem was with his name, but both the person in the front and the staff in the back refused to use it. They called out everyone else's names (and they usually call out mine when I order) and we noticed that our sandwiches were looking skimpy compared to how stacked we know they can come. My husband uses a nickname that might not be the name he was given at birth, but is a name he has used for over 20 years and might as well be his "real," name. We don't want to make assumptions, but most of the staff has always been at least a little cold towards us at best, slightly rude at worst, and even though this experience might seem relatively small to some, it's ultimately the straw that broke the camel's back. We suspect that their distaste for us might be politically motivated. We know it can't be personal because we've been nothing but polite. It sucks, but it seems to be that if they perceive you to not be "their people," your money isn't as green at their establishment, even if it spends all the same. I loved this place and felt lucky that they're close to my house, but feeling disrespected and like the staff are trying to fire us as customers is enough motivation to take our business elsewhere.

The space itself is also a plus--it's bright, airy, spacious, and has plenty of seating. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by cleanliness and service issues. Many tables were left covered in crumbs and empty cups, yet employees made no effort to bus or wipe them down. We watched one employee throw away a leftover drink from a table, push the trash can back against the wall, and then return behind the counter to attend to a customer's drink order and then use her phone without washing her hands first. That was concerning from a sanitation standpoint. We ordered the Lavender Bliss Iced Latte with oat milk, which costs an additional $1.00. The drink arrived with barely any milk, so I had to return to ask for a splash more. If customers are paying extra for a milk alternative, the drink should be prepared properly the first time. We also had the Honeycomb Latte, and the latte art was severely lacking. While latte art isn't the most important part of a drink, it's often a reflection of the care and craftsmanship that goes into its preparation. A little more attention to presentation would elevate the overall experience The restroom was also in poor condition. There were visible stains on the toilet seat, toilet paper scattered across the floor, a full trash can, and an unpleasant odor. Regular restroom checks would go a long way toward improving the customer experience. What made the experience especially frustrating was seeing employees on their phones during slower periods instead of taking the opportunity to clean tables, tidy the café, or check the restroom. Those small tasks make a big difference in creating a welcoming environment. When service and basic care are lacking, it also makes it hard to feel comfortable leaving a tip. We did tip, but afterward regretted it. The drink menu and atmosphere have a lot of potential, but the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail made it difficult to enjoy our visit. I hope management addresses these issues, as this café could be a much better experience with stronger housekeeping and customer service.
