The café offers a great variety of specialty drinks, including fun seasonal options like the Funnel Cake Latte, Kettlecorn Chai, and Brown Sugar & Cinnamon latte, in addition to the usual coffee, tea, and smoothie selections. The space itself is also a plus--it's bright, airy, spacious, and has plenty of seating. Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by cleanliness and service issues. Many tables were left covered in crumbs and empty cups, yet employees made no effort to bus or wipe them down. We watched one employee throw away a leftover drink from a table, push the trash can back against the wall, and then return behind the counter to attend to a customer's drink order and then use her phone without washing her hands first. That was concerning from a sanitation standpoint. We ordered the Lavender Bliss Iced Latte with oat milk, which costs an additional $1.00. The drink arrived with barely any milk, so I had to return to ask for a splash more. If customers are paying extra for a milk alternative, the drink should be prepared properly the first time. We also had the Honeycomb Latte, and the latte art was severely lacking. While latte art isn't the most important part of a drink, it's often a reflection of the care and craftsmanship that goes into its preparation. A little more attention to presentation would elevate the overall experience The restroom was also in poor condition. There were visible stains on the toilet seat, toilet paper scattered across the floor, a full trash can, and an unpleasant odor. Regular restroom checks would go a long way toward improving the customer experience. What made the experience especially frustrating was seeing employees on their phones during slower periods instead of taking the opportunity to clean tables, tidy the café, or check the restroom. Those small tasks make a big difference in creating a welcoming environment. When service and basic care are lacking, it also makes it hard to feel comfortable leaving a tip. We did tip, but afterward regretted it. The drink menu and atmosphere have a lot of potential, but the lack of cleanliness and attention to detail made it difficult to enjoy our visit. I hope management addresses these issues, as this café could be a much better experience with stronger housekeeping and customer service. read more

I met a friend here for a quick breakfast and great conversation. If you're in the Lemon Grove area, and you don't want to wait forever at the Lemon Grove Café a block away, come here. They welcome you in upon arrival. There were 3 female baristas on this gloomy Saturday morning. The place had about 6 customers seated snd enjoying their beverages and food. I ordered: 1 Blueberry Banana Smoothie w/apple juice base, cinnamon sogar bagel with cream cheese heated up (I should have asked for it to be cut in half), and a hot matcha latte with 2 pumps hazelnut syrup. Everything I ordered was made fresh and tasted perfect. They have all the beverage bases for smoothies (apple, orange, oat, whole, almond, etc.), this is great. They also have a great selection of pastries, desserts, fruits, etc. The food menu is pretty good. I recommend this place. To be honest the only drink I get here is the Vietnamese Coffee. It is not an original Vietnamese Coffee with just condensed milk. They do add half and half (I believe) or it could be heavy cream to it. Regardless its so damn good I can't stop ordering it. It only comes in one size and when I tell you it wakes you up, it really does! The service, in my opinion, is good and fair for a coffee shop. They do have a lot of little things to look at when waiting on your order, which I like. For the most part it is always full and they do have a lot of seating. I also never have issues finding parking. It is a good coffee shop to try. read more

TOO GOOD TO GO CUSTOMERS: BEWARE! I was super excited to find this coffee shop on too good to go, but was extremely shocked when I opened the bag to see two small tomatoes, a bruised banana, and an expired health shot. I spent six dollars for something I could've bought at the grocery store for less than three dollars. It would have been in better condition there. I was staying at an Airbnb while visiting in the area, and this coffee shop was (conveniently) walking distance from there. You didn't have to pull my arm to convince me to check it out. It's a quaint little spot on the corner directly across the street from the train station. When you walk in, you find an awesome set of wooden steps set up like risers, in a way, that you could sit on, in addition to tables you can choose to sit at. Staff was pleasant and patient as we took our time perusing their menu; they have such a wide variety of drinks and foods that you're guaranteed to find something to try/love. Additionally, they have their own assortment of pretty awesome merch on the opposite side of the shop. I was pleasantly surprised. Stopped by here on a Saturday morning. It was between here and another coffee shop. Great decision was made. Came for some caffinee but ended up getting some great photos, some lovely smiles by other customers, and some early morning vibes as there was live music happening. It was a trio of musicians - one on the sax, on one the drums, and one on another instrument I forgot. I took a look at the menu prior and already had an idea of what I was going to get. It was the Hawaiian Creme Brulee and the Tropical Irishman. Both are off their speciality latte list. The Tropical Irishman had irish cream, mac nut, coconut and the Hawaiian Creme Brulee (HCB for short), had white chocolate, caramel, mac nut. Both are on the sweeter end of things. I was torn between getting it iced or getting it hot. I went with both iced. You can get small, medium, and large. The small is about $5.50 and it goes up a dollar or so per size. I prefered the Irishman more than the HCB. I think the coconut balanced out the bold flavors of the others a bit more whereas the caramel for the HCB made the other more rich. I loved the spot. It was really cute and pretty huge. There are a few high tops and a few low tops. But the star of the show was the built in shelves seating. Not sure even what to call it! It protrudes from the wall and after climbing a few steps you find some lovely pillows on top to lounge. There are also outlets in the steps so you can work and sip and charge. They also sell merch and have posters of other community events happening there and in the area. They also have some food to purchase. I was tempted for some of the banana and zucchini bread but opted not to because I was going out for lunch soon. The thing that stops me from eating it a four star is the staff. Idk. I got a weird feeling from the lady who served me. It felt cold with me but after me, she seemed to treat everyone like they were her bff. This place is super cute! It's easy to miss even though it faces the street corner and is huge inside. I came here at the recommendation of a friend and am so glad I did. They sell a collection of locally-made items (artwork, candles, ceramics, coffee) and are kid-friendly with the little table and toys. They have a lot of cute tables and this big seating area that I don't know how to describe but included in a picture. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the latte I got (maple nut latte) was just okay, and the workers were talking extremely loud when the rest of the cafe was pretty mellow. I had to put my headphones in and put them on noise cancelling just for some peace. The employee I interacted with was very nice though. Got the LG club sandwich, and at first the look of it didn't excite me, but it was delicious. They get their pastries from Split Bakehouse-- I used to work at a vegan restaurant that got our pastries from them as well, and without a doubt they are always amazing. But that's more of a compliment to Split haha One big problem: They let me know one of the pastries in the case was not vegan. I am not vegan myself, but from my experience in the restaurant industry I know that it is incredibly important to store vegan and non-vegan goods away from one another. The non-vegan pastry was sharing the tray with the others, almost touching them. Most vegans (or people with egg/dairy allergies) would have a huge problem with this! Please make this one little change you guys. If not for safety, just do it for a customer's peace of mind. Last thing to mention, the service. My partner and I weren't greeted, even when we were standing at the register with 2 employees standing directly in front of us having their own conversation. We had to get their attention just to have them answer our questions. Felt like the chick taking our order almost had something personal against us even though we had quite literally just walked in, it was super weird. Also when ordering a sandwich, they had to check if they were "making food right now". Half of your menu is food... how often are you guys not making food? Plus there was a guy, we assumed the owner, who absolutely would not stop staring at us. It was weird. I'm sure it wasn't based on race or sexual orientation of my partner and I considering this is San Diego, but dude. Let us eat our pastry lol. First time here since it changed owners. Still a coffee shop but under new ownership. It's got a new name but pretty much same vibe. Same interior design for the most part. It was clean and simple. I had me a smoothie cuz not a big caffeine dude. It was still kinda early and I hadn't had breakfast so went with a healthy smoothie which was delicious. Pretty quiet, the music wasn't blasting and it was still chill even though there were plenty of people there. Everyone was just minding their own business chatting or doing work on their laptops. It's not in my city but pretty close since I'm on the border with Lemon Grove. Lemon Grove is the next up and coming spot. I always try to support local small business and not the large corporate chain coffee shops. I've been here 4 times. Side note - they have a printer which is what brought me back the fourth time to print DMV paperwork. Super helpful!! The coffee is ok. The baristas are hit and miss. I hate to say it but seeing how much competition there is in SD and a few more opening in LG it's not my first choice. It's not necessarily bad either. Sometimes the coffee tastes watered down. Even the Vietnamese coffee was light. However, I do love that our community had another coffee option a the inside is quite cute. Total hole-in-the-wall gem! I was in town for a travel assignment and randomly found this place. At first, I thought it would be a rundown spot, but nope, I was so wrong. I actually wish I had checked it out more while I was there. The inside is super cozy, and they have these cool stairs with outlets where you can charge your phone and chill. I ordered online and got two drinks Toasty and Cinnamon Roll (both half sweet). They were perfect! I loved them so much, I came back the next day. Second time around I tried the Loco Coco and Hawaiian Crème Brûlée (also half sweet). Still really good, but the Cinnamon Roll was my favorite by far. As I was leaving, I saw people eating some really good-looking sandwiches. The service was quick too, I was quoted 10 mins for coffee and it was ready in less than 5.
