Ted and his crew at MTI were nothing short of remarkable. During the height of the post-pandemic home improvement craze, we had another installer completely abandon our kitchen remodel after 2 days. Facing the prospect of having an unusable kitchen indefinitely, we scrambled to find a team that was not only dependable, but capable. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! We were the victims of a plumbing scam and had our floors all trenched, destroying all of our tiles. We were living in a hotel for almost 5 months when we found this company "Master Tile Installers". "Ted Bradford" arrived at our home, carrying a stool to sit on because he couldn't walk but a few feet at a time. He explained he had bad knees from being an installer for years. He said he had 11 crews who worked for him now. We explained how we had been scammed and literally cried during the interview. He said he felt so sorry for us and could help us. After inspecting the tiles we purchased, he explained to us that he would need to send a "special crew" to install our oversized 8x48 and 40x60 in porcelain tiles. He insisted one man could never do this and it took specialist installers. We agreed, because we had done the research. We felt so relieved to find an installer capable of doing the job and to finally begin the process of rebuilding our home. I'll try and be brief and only mention the most serious of issues: On day one, there was no "special crew". Just one guy named Charlie. Charlie told us he had never met Ted. He explained Ted wanted to "see what I can do". We were very concerned, so we called Ted right away. After confronted with what Charlie had told us, Ted admitted Charlie came recommended by a friend but he had never met him nor seen his work! We were confused why he had himself told us this job couldn't be done by a normal installer or one man yet that's what he sent. AND a non-vetted stranger at that. Ted assured us we shouldn't worry. Charlie will just be doing floor the prep and Ted still had that special crew coming to help. On day two, which was the start of the actual install, Charlie was the only one who showed up again. He started the install in the wrong "random" pattern. It took him all day to lay 5 rows of the 8x48 in tiles. When we came home and saw the random pattern and uneven grout lines we immediately called Charlie and was told "too bad, I'm already on my way home". We called Ted, who admitted he gave him the wrong pattern and had a nonchalant attitude like "oh well you better fix it yourself". So I could do nothing but cry. After what the plumbers did to us we couldn't deal with another scam. We just couldn't believe it was happening again. Me and my niece and daughter spent all evening pulling up the tiles and washing them off to save them and then scraping thinset off the floors before it dried. Day three, Charlie showed up again alone. We reminded him to please use spacers so the grout lines are even. He started to re-install the tiles in the correct pattern when we asked "why aren't you starting in the center of the room at the high point to make sure they are level like our old installer did? He had an attitude and told us to "just let me do my job". We asked again "where is this special crew coming to help you? We were told one person can't do this job". He said Ted assured him one was coming. He also told us he would NOT be doing any floor leveling on the kitchen even though Ted had promised it as part of the overall quote. We had to hire someone else to do that because it wasn't his job. We called Ted who said "just find someone online". We told him "but you said this was part of the job if we provided the materials" He refused to help and just sent us 3 companies he found online. There was no offer to help pay the difference or discount the job. Since Charlie refused to proceed in the kitchen until this was done, we hurried to find a cement crew ourselves and had to pay them $600 without materials for this area to be leveled. Long story short, Ted NEVER sent any special crew. Almost all of the large porcelain tiles Charlie installed alone ended up ruined. Almost all need demoed. After we complained about the workmanship, Charlie started to demo the bad tiles. Then when Ted insisted we allow Charlie to do the reinstall by himself we said NO, he needs help! Ted suddenly pulled Charlie off the job. Charlie left mad and removed all the blue tape off all the tiles that needed demoed and he left his trash inside and out front of our home. We were extremely upset and threatened a lawsuit. There was a full trailer of debris left that we had to have hauled away. Ted then offered to bring in a crew but then withdrew the offer and told us we should let the ROC handle it. We agreed. At that point the contract period was already up and not even one room had been completed. Ted admitted he never had ANY other crews to ever do this job. He only ever had Charlie. The man he had never met. He never supervised what Charlie was doing even once. He never came to inspect until after the floors were all messed up. He lied and misled us into signing a contract with him. NOW we are out our deposit and materials etc.... thousands of dollars. We are now in a dispute over Breach of contract AND bad workmanship. Horrible customer Service, i called to see if I could have someone come out to give an estimate for tile installation. Receiving this company from the BBB website, i called. The guy who answered the phone(Ted), asked if i knew what size tile i wanted, i replied that i was hoping that i could get some recommendations for my small home. He replied, how many square feet, not knowing how many square feet, i told him that i didn't know how many square feet and wanted to see if i could have someone come out to give me an estimate. His response was, "that doesn't happen anymore, you need to find out what size tile and how many square feet and call back so we can move forward." Called Ted at MTI to have a tile install done the next day. Ted asked for pictures of the job needing done so I sent him several pictures as he requested. Ted assured me that the job would get done the next day and he would have several installers out between 8 and 9 AM. He said it would be closer to 8 though. It's currently 11:45AM and I'm still sitting here expecting a call or something but not a word. It's funny that he was adamant in a text that I had to agree to hand them a check written to Master Tile Installers and I had to agree (which I did). Needless to say they are not a very reliable company and I would not recommend them unless your into disappointment. For a registered licensed contractor i expected a professional experience but not the case here. read more

We had sautillo tile installed in the main part of the house. We used them because they had done previous work for us and did an excellent job at matching the existing tile. The two installers who laid the tile were excellent and it looked beautiful...then the finisher came to seal the tile and it was so unbelievably awful. She basically ruined our tile with some chemical that was so toxic that we had to remove our dogs and our neighbors could smell it two doors down for a week. It was splashed on and it was oil based. We thought we were going to have to get it jack hammered up. I would include pictures if I could. I was in tears...basically our house was ruined. Luckily, we found a guy that worked on it for a day and it is not as good as it was but we can live with it. read more

In 2013, we contracted MTI Master Tile Installers to install a custom tile "rug" mosaic in our family room and install wall tile in our hall bathroom. We also had some cracked floor tiles we needed removed and replaced. We contacted Ted through his website at mtiaz.com. Ted runs the business side and Omar completes the installation. We provided the tile and design, MTI provided thinset and grout. Any issues? The tiles we chose were all natural stone: marbella limestone, travertine and marble. Unfortunately, MTI used a gray thinset and a sanded grout Omar. Next time I have a tile job, I will be more careful about specifying the materials. Overall, Ted, Omar and his crew are courteous and professional. Workmanship was very good, some of the best I have seen in the valley. Job was completed on time. Price was very fair. read more

Ted came in with a fair bid, was honest and professional, agreed to a budget and timeline, and met both. its so hard to find contractors and crews that show up when they say they will and are done when they say will be. his crew did both, pleasant and on time everyday and did amazing work. they take pride in their work and it shows. i have been in and around construction my whole life and the time and detail they put into their work is rare. i would hire these guys again in a second... don't take your chances with just some "guy from craigslist" use these guys worth every penny and then some! I needed a small pony wall in the backyard tiled. I called Ted and he was quick to respond and quick to help me out. I got on the schedule for just a couple days out. They were right on time, friendly, and did a great job on the wall. They cleaned up all of their mess when they were done and then texted me later (I wasn't home when it was completed) to make sure that I was happy with the results. YIKES! $$$$$$$$$$$$$ I had 2,000 sqft of wood/tile to rip out and to replace with a new tile. Other quotes I was getting were between $5K and $7K. So, I had "Master Tile Installers" swing by to give me an estimate. Once she told me that it would be about $17K (YES, "seventeen"!), I just kind of laughed. And she said, what, are you getting other estimates? I said, well, yeah, of course. She inquired, well, is that inline with your other 3 quotes... I said, NO, way, way, way out of the ballpark. I quickly showed her the door. She and her boss were clamoring about "you get what you pay for, we do quality work, yadda, yadda, yadda". I was like, trust me, I did my homework on the other installers and they are legit (I checked them against BBB, licensed, bonded, ROC, insured, yelp-approved, etc...). They were just grasping at straws trying to justify their highway robbery of rates. Yes, I live in a very nice home... so perhaps she thought I was just a dumb, rich guy who would just throw money at them w/o doing my homework first. Sorry, lady, I have the money I do because I --don't-- do that. Geesh! So unless you are a dumb, rich person careless with your money, I would recommend you STAY FAR, FAR, FAR AWAY!!!! read more

Bad bad experience. MIT will come out and give you a quote and a vague contract and leave your project unfinished and hanging if you let them. The owner hides behind the phone and text messages. What was quoted as a 3-4 day remodel for a very small bath turned out to be two weeks and that involved 5 heated conversations. I have a older home and pointed out to Teal (quote person) in the beginning that bad wood may be behind the walls and shower. She stated noMIT didn't replace most of the rotten wood . They tiled over the bad wood and used lots of mud instead of drywalling. All of my walls at the baseboards were not dry walled but instead they globed lots of mud on. Every time I called Ted his first words "it's not in the contract". The laborer who set the tiles said he would be back for the next three evenings and complete the remodel. At this time no plumbing or drywall had been done. Laborer never showed back up! After four days I called Ted and ashes what's going on, he stated "were finished." I had to agree to pay additional for one of his laborers to finish this terrible job. Be careful and dont give them the second half of the money until your job is completed. Also, Ted sends out a laborer to collect the balance before they are done and the laborer gives you a sad sad sob story about how sick Ted is and needs the money!!!!!
