Keep in mind, some contractors will not take on a job that has already been started by the homeowner. Bruce was very understanding and had no hesitation in giving us a plan for completion that suited our situation. His crew was experienced, efficient, and very meticulous. They were able to demo several hundred square feet of ceramic tile and haul off the debris in a timely manner. The cabinets and rooms were masked effectively, so as to minimize the dust that always results from extensive demos. Since floor prep is the key to a good end result, Bruce's crew took extra care to do it right. We used Gainey Flooring Solutions recently for our guest and master bathroom remodel. We had the 20 year old tile replaced in both bathrooms, and we also had the original tub/showers converted to no threshold walk-in showers. We had the privilege of having Bruce, the owner, orchestrate the entire process from start to finish. He was very professional and easy to communicate with. He was excellent at keeping us updated to the timeline of work, and we really appreciated that. He quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had along the way. It was so wonderful not having to contact and coordinate three different contractors' schedules, and having Bruce handle the scheduling of all the demo, plumbing, glass and tile work. I hired the company for installing tile, baseboards, and door trim. The tile is not level, the grout is cloudy, and there were numerous issues with the baseboards and door trim. Bruce didn't offer to help when I sent him photos of the issues, only to call me back after he got back from vacation (after another contractor I hired would need to start on the next part of the job). When I did eventually talk with him, he blamed us for not noticing the issues and guaranteed that the tile was level despite me telling him we used a level to check in multiple places and him never setting eyes on it. I will never recommend Gainey. *Edit to reply to owner's response on 5/6* My prior contractor still does jobs for us so I'm not sure what you're talking about. A good friend introduced me to Bruce as he had done a handful of projects for her. I'm so glad she did! Bruce is amazing! He not only spent several days finding the perfect wood flooring to compliment my current tile and color choices, but he also gave me a very reasonable quote. He is quick to respond and provides honest and experienced feedback. His crew Carlos (tile flooring) and Hermann (wood flooring) are masterful at installation. I extended my existing entryway and kitchen tile into the living room and the master bedroom. Bruce went out of his way to procure the tile even though the manufacturer has discontinued production. Carlos' tile installation is a perfect match. The new tile is evenly smooth, the grout lines are seamless, and the transition from the floor to baseboards is perfect. Carlos also made beautiful tile cuts to transition from my master bedroom into my master bathroom. Hermann did an excellent job installing the wood flooring too. He custom made wood transitions from my tile hallway and entryway into my great room and guest bedrooms. His floor to baseboard transitions were perfect as well. Bruce told me Hermann is a Master Craftsman, and boy is he right! I have now hired Gainey Flooring Solutions to remodel my fireplace wall where the crew will be installing hardscape stone. This was the second time we used Bruce and Gainey Flooring and it won't be our last. We decided to remove the carpet from our bedrooms and replace them with the same engineered hardwood as the rest of the house. The product in the house was no longer available and Bruce helped us find a replacement that was near perfect. His installer was meticulous and did perfect job of lining up the boards with the existing ones and not using a elevated transition strip into the rooms. What a find this company is! From beginning to end this was a hassle free installation. Bruce the owner is extremely hands on. He came to the house and listened attentively to all our concerns. They have been in business for many years and it showed. He went out of his way to help my 92 year old father choose the tiles and fittings. It was completely stress free. They started on time and completed the job within 5 days. Every day Bruce came to speak to his workmen to make sure everyone was on the same page. Also, I have never come across such lovely workmen. We used them for multiple projects over a couple of months: flooring and shower. The Good: Bruce is a good guy overall, honest and trustworthy. His prices are reasonable. He does what he promises and in a timely manner. He is resourceful in finding other services (plumber, painter, etc) to get everything done. His employee Carlos is great to work with. They did a great job on the shower remodel. They also did tiles in a lot of the rooms of our house. In the 2 bedrooms they did a good job. The Bad: They botched the tile job in the front entryway - tiles are uneven and look very bad. Every visitor notices. They only agreed to replace 3 tiles. He actually suggested to just put a rug on it! I thought I could get used to it but it still bothers me. I am going to have it demolished and re-do. Very costly, since we used high end porcelain tiles. I hate to say anything bad about Bruce because he is such a nice guy. But it is what it is. The problem is their installation method. They use a non std method; it involves putting some small wedges through the spacers - that is not adequate to level the tiles against each other. Other installers use large rulers to level tiles evenly. Also, Bruce refuses to do 1/16 grout gap. In the bedrooms, where I got Carlos to do 1/16, it looks great. The front entry and looks terrible, living room somewhat, but I can live with the latter. Have to re-do the entry area as gives a bad impression when someone comes in. I had been debating for months about this, but finally decided I should put in the review. Five stars for shower, Five star for 2 bedrooms, 1 star for the rest of the tile job. read more

We needed to replace white shag carpet that came with the house in the master bedroom when we bought it. We loved the look of Saltillo tile and bought gorgeous Star & Cross Saltillo tiles for our project. I found Gainey Flooring when doing random searches for Saltillo tile installers. I was impressed that they had only 5-star reviews and had gathered them over a long period of time. They were also insured, licensed and bonded. This was huge for me, too. We had spent a chunk of money on beautiful Saltillo tile and I wasn't comfortable with a handyman doing the install. Bruce Berey is a communicator, which is a rare breed within the construction world within Greater PHX. He showed up when he said he would and if he was running late from a previous job, he communicated that either by phone call or text! His estimate was fair and in a tremendous stroke of luck he was able to fit our job in the following week. Not only did his team lay our bedroom floor tiles, but we had them extend the depth of the dangerous original 1979 brick steps up to our patio. We supplied the bricks (just like we supplied the Saltillo tile) and his team got that done during the same timeframe. We are so happy and pleased with the results!
