Waited 2 weeks and followed up twice only to be told sales person lost my file - they committed to make things right and get back on track. Few check ins through the holidays... lots of out of office and meeting delays. 12/31 text.. Vic (owner) and sales person meeting next week to finalize estimate. 1/13 text.. sales person and Vic meeting today. 1/14 (630pm VM)... "sorry but after reviewing our projects in flight, we are too busy to take on your project..best of luck to you." This was the first of two projects the company would have had... in total, $225k - $300k worth of business LOST!! read more

These are the "detailed invoices" Mariano referred to that was paid through escrow. Take a look at them and take your own conclusions of what a detailed invoice is! It doesn't surprise me that Mariano and the buyers already knew each other previously. It was extremely difficult to get a hold of Mariano during this process, and when we finally did, he was dismissive and rude. That interaction didn't reflect the professionalism you're emphasizing here. I'm reviewing our experience with Mariano and co which was receiving a vague invoice (attached) and dealing with a rude owner. If this type of review or feedback bothers you, I'd suggest that in the future, you approach situations with more curiosity and less judgment especially when people are simply trying to understand where their money went. read more

I had my ordinary bathtub replaced with a quality walk-in shower by Mariano & Co. Planning and prep were great &I was kept updated every step of the way with email updates from the project manager as well as calls/text messages when a detail needed adjustment. The craftsmanship in the project is fantastic. I had an infinite combination of materials and a 1st-rate design consultant to help with choices. The list of contractors in the east valley/phoenix area is endless. Thank goodness we found Mariano and Co. Vic, Lloyd, Mike, Chelsea and their team were so great to work with. Constant updates by email so we knew who and what time they would show up, what work was going to be done and text/email communication constantly. Work completed: Total kitchen remodel, new floors downstairs, new stair rail installation, rewire of kitchen lighting and switches, gas appliance connection installation, removal of waste, new baseboard installed, crown molding install, and new light fixture installation. We started out design in April, ordered materials in June, started construction in September, and completed construction/punch list at the end of November. Excellent overall experience. The entire team was involved and responsive throughout the entire experience. Michelle made out design process incredibly easy. She chauffeured us around to several different sites to pick out all the details and countertops. She made the whole design process feel like we were first class customers. She has great taste and gave us just enough options to ensure that we never hit decision paralysis . Lucien was forthright with everything about the job and I never felt disillusioned about what to expect or how much I was paying. All of the members were trustworthy and helpful, especially Steve and Cody. At one point our children accidentally let the dog out and Steve stopped working to help get the dog back into the house. The also ensured that the worksite was cleaned up daily and before they left for the weekend. Jim gave us daily updates on what work was going to be completed for the day and who would be arriving. He was always accurate about who would be on the job. He also clearly communicated when things were not going according to plan. This was a rare occurrence. When it came to closing out the job we reviewed the contract together and settled any discrepancies. I also pointed out all of the details I wanted addressed. Everyone of them was handled to our satisfaction. I will definitely be using them again in the future to redo my upstairs and add in a pool. Honestly can't say enough great things. This will be a long detailed review but I have worked with Mariano & Co. quite a bit this past year and am so happy with the result I continue to hire them for more. So far we have had an entire dining room wall and pony wall removed. Shiplap extended to match existing shiplap. Ceiling lights moved and ceilings patched and painted. Electrical moved, new switches and dimmers installed, new paint, and new chandeliers hung. We are currently nearing the end of our beautiful full kitchen remodel with them. We will be starting a bathroom remodel shortly followed by our laundry room, master bath, and patio posts in our back yard. All will be done by Mariano & Co. Pics will be posted soon. Because we are doing so much in our home when choosing a contractor we not only wanted a 5 star experience but we wanted to feel like we were working with friends. That has been our experience with Mariano & Co. Everyone from Vic, Lloyd, Lauren, Jeff, and Steve, to name a few, are great. Remodeling your home is not without small hiccups but their crew is always on top of any and all issues. They do exceptional work and always want to make sure I am happy with my result. I'd also like to add that I have children in the home. I have had bad experiences in the past with workers coming in acting rude, frustrated, cursing under their breath, or just strange. When you hire outside help you should never feel uncomfortable in your own home. This is simply not acceptable around my children. Mariano & Co workers are respectful, kind, quiet as possible, and will even laugh with my kiddos and joke around. I cannot stress how respectful and just cool they all are.They are very aware of their surroundings on the job sight and take extra care in working around kiddos in the home. That to me as a mom is priceless. They are also great to my dogs. Bonus. Their crews take great care in covering your furniture during construction, lining and covering your floors where they will be working, covering all light fixtures etc. They also clean up after themselves as if they were never here. Even during the demo when they finish for the day all supplies are tucked neatly out of our way and everything is organized. Something I greatly appreciate. It's bad enough having your home tore up. Tripping over building materials and tools is a pain. I'd also like to mention that although I know exactly what I want I pride myself on being incredibly kind and quite laid back. With that said I have had other workers mistake my kindness for weakness and will take advantage of that by "getting to my project when they can." Being the "nice" client can sometimes backfire . At Mariano & Co that is simply not the case. All my work is done in a timely manner and done beautifully. These are incredibly talented hard working people. Lloyd our foreman is also fantastic with communication. I am always in the loop with what is happening during my project receiving nightly emails so I know what time a crew will be arriving the next morning and who will be showing up as well as what they will be working on that day. When ordering supplies like counters or cupboards Lloyd always keeps me up to date regarding time frames or delays. They also do not get upset or offended when you are unhappy with any aspect. Again sometimes there are hiccups when remodeling. Lloyd and his crew welcome constructive feedback so they can adjust the issue quickly and move on with a happy client. Lauren, my favorite designer on the Mariano & Co team is a powerhouse of knowledge and assistance. Believe me I know what I want but can't always find it. Lauren usually gets back to me within minutes sometimes seconds with an answer or to let me know she is working on it. She takes great pride in her position and it shows. She is also incredibly patient and understanding with my learning curve and always has additional ideas for me. Chelsea was also great hunting down the exact tile back splash I wanted. I had absolutely no information whatsoever on the type of tile I wanted just a rough description and she found it for me. Service like this is why I continue to hire Mariano & Co. When Lloyd Knox of Mariano & Co showed up at our house to estimate our kitchen remodeling job--the only remodel in 104 years--he took a ring off his finger and placed it on the floor. It accelerated across the kitchen toward the living room. The noise it made sounded like the ringing of a cash register. It confirmed that the entire floor would have to be replaced. Mariano's merits include the gumption to take on a remodeling job that resembled restoration. The kitchen was part of a handmade house whose adobe walls were made onsite in 1916 by diverting an irrigation ditch to the property. The east wall alone weighs an estimated 12,300 pounds, and what it has lacked in being plumb and square it more than made up for in stability. The craftsmen and project reps were skillful, knowledgeable and a pleasure to meet and talk to. Francisco did meticulous work in installing the porcelain tile. Jim caught a joint misalignment in the granite backsplash and had the subcontractor redo it the next day. Estimated arrival times and completion dates were spot-on. DO. NOT. USE. This is my house since May. No working kitchen, bathrooms, and a hole in the exterior to the house with a board covering it. All due to mismeasurement and faulty designs. I was notified that their design wouldn't work after they tore up the foundation to the house. They have left my new refrigerator, washer, dryer, and dishwasher on my back patio all summer. They also left cabinets that were to be reused on the back patio all summer. When asked to repair the damage, the owner said, "Mariano and Co will NOT be fixing sun damage on 40 year old cabinets." They will tell you, you can use your own vendors. Don't believe them. It took over 2 months and 5 requests to get 2 change orders from them. Emails are not responded to in a timely manner and are only partially answered. If you do chose to use them, make sure you have a final cost of the project and a completion date on the contract. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the Registrar of Contractors. read more

I would not recommend this company. Vic Mariano came out to see my home and to give me a quote. He told me he would have a quote to me in 2 weeks. I agreed and waited patiently for 2 weeks. 2 weeks came and I still had not received a bid. He then said he would have it done in 2 days or he would let me know if it was going to be longer. He still didn't have it done and again no communication. I called him again and he told me that he was very behind and hadn't even started my bid. At this point I told him I would have appreciated some communication. Vic then proceeded to tell me how he couldn't do business with me because I was impatient and then hung up on me. Instead of owning up to his mistake, he would rather turn it around on you. I would not trust this company with my project. read more

I am pleased to write a review for our master bathroom remodel project done by Mariano & Co., LLC. Living up to the expectation of a '5 Star Experience' is no easy task. But our remodel with Mariano & Co. did just that. . . from the start to finish! We got really serious about remodeling after we had seen the master bath remodel that Mariano & Co. had completed for friends of ours. We loved the look of our friends' new bathroom and asked who did the work. That was the first we had heard about the Mariano quality. Then, we talked to several other contractors and got estimates for what we wanted for our bathroom. From the initial meeting with Lucien, we were impressed. He came to our home and listened to what we wanted and offered suggestions. He was very professional and friendly. We immediately felt comfortable and knew we wanted to proceed with Mariano & Co. after interviewing several other contractors. We scheduled our appointment at the Mariano show room. There, we met our designer, Lauren; Vic, the owner, and Lucien. Everything was explained to us regarding the cost, communication through the BuilderTrend app, and what the process would be. It was very easy to ask questions and feel really secure that we were 'in good hands'. No detail was overlooked. From the exact measurements, to the drawings, to the schedule that would be followed; it was all clearly communicated and we knew what to expect and when. When the workers started coming to begin the project, they showed up on time - always - and if there was some reason to change the time or the plans we knew the night before from the email communication. We had heard stories from friends about how dirty and messy remodels could be. That was one of the main things that we really appreciated. Care and consideration for the carpet and furniture in our bedroom and bathroom were always a priority. Of course, there was a mess! But Mariano & Co. tried to keep it as clean as possible with daily upkeep. The quality of workmanship one every level was exceptional! The workers seemed to really take pride in their craftsmanship and it definitely showed in the final completion. The materials that Mariano & Co. use seem so much better than some of the other products that we had seen. I am not an expert on tile or fixtures, but I know what I wanted; and what we got looks like a 5 star product! Nothing looks 'cheap' or 'plastic'. The quality of products used by Mariano & Co. is excellent. As with any big project, there's always going to be a few little concerns. When our floor tile was completed for our shower, it looked great! However, we didn't realize until we actually stood in it and took a shower, that a few of the tiles needed to be sanded down. When we expressed our concern to Mariano & Co. they were very willing to make it right and wasted no time in making that happen. The same with touch-up that needed to be done with paint. We let the Company know about it, and they immediately got it fixed to our satisfaction. I told Lloyd, our project manager, after the project was finished that there we some other areas of our home that I would like to address. I thin that's what occurs when your realize the possibilities that could happen with a quality contractor such as Mariano & Co.! We will definitely contact Mariano's again when we are ready to do an additional remodel! Trust? Quality? Attention to Detail? These are the things you can count on with Mariano's! read more

Let me start by saying a lot of contractors talk a good game when they come out to quote a job. Everything sounds amazing and they make it sound like you will be treated as if you're their only job. Fast forward to the middle of the job and you end up feeling like you're lost in the contractor's schedule. I think we've all come to expect that's just how it goes. Well not anymore for us! Mariano and Co. not only made everything sound amazing at the first appointment, but they actually follow through and make the whole experience awesome! When they say "contractor for life" (and they say it quite a bit haha), they mean it. Our job consisted of a full kitchen remodel, new tile flooring and a complete interior change of paint color. From the moment we started discussing things with Vic, Lucien and Lauren, we felt as though we were going to be well taken care of. They have clearly been doing this for a long time and know all the ins and outs of what questions to ask and what direction to take the conversation / design ideas in. Most people will have an idea of what they want the finished product to look like. Lucien and Lauren made sure to listen to our ideas, but then add / suggest things that we had never thought of. At times we even felt Lauren was more excited about the selections we made for our kitchen than we were! Not to say we weren't excited about them, but you can tell she really loves what she does. Lucien does a great job of "point man" on the project. He was great to bounce ideas off of and had made some really great suggestions along the way. His (actually the whole team's) response time to questions, was amazing. Usually same day, at worst, the following morning. Mariano and Co. use an app called BuilderTrend. This app is constantly updated / monitored by the whole team. You can view your running job total, change orders, send messages, check payments, etc. It is always up to date. Every night you get a message though the app telling you what will be happening the following day. Even if it's nothing. You always know what to expect, who to expect and what time to expect them. Not once was the evening message wrong. While we weren't living in our house for the bulk of the job, we did visit the house quite a bit and got to know some of the guys on the crews (Emile and Seth made a great combo!). They are all very friendly and would even humor our kids with the endless questions they would ask! Lloyd, Mike and Jim did a great job of coordinating everything from demo to clean up. The scope of our remodel was large: Completely new kitchen (cabinets, island, new splash, appliances, tile floor etc.) We also replaced ALL flooring in the house and brand new master bathroom (again, completely gutted and everything new). Too much to list in this review. I cannot imagine doing this with any other contractor! First, the owners are perfectionists and demand quality from all their subs. I was a tough customer as I scrutinized every little item. Not once did I get push back; in fact they went beyond my craziness to make it even better. The in house designer did a magnificent job transforming our dark brown space to an updated light and comfortable home! We interviewed four contractors, and although Mariano was not cheapest (and not the most expensive either) we got the best feeling from their professionalism and experience. We could not be happier and the results speak for themselves. We are almost done and I will post more pictures as the painting is completed. I had to get this review done because they deserve it and YOU need to know to stop looking and hire them no matter how large or small your project is! read more
