Stopped here for a good dinner over the weekend. It's located along the feeder of i10 near memorial city. Upon entering the hosts were very welcoming and we were seated promptly. The food and drinks were great. I ordered short ribs which I will be returning to have again. I also ordered the crab fried rice which left me disappointed. Overall for $200 this was a good visit.
Masraff's never fails to impress me in every aspect in terms of service and food. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a modern design that is upscale and classy. The staff is always super professional, friendly and timely. The food is always consistently meticulously crafted and always delicious. The complimentary bread is a focaccia bread served warm, and it is perfectly chewy with a nice heat to it. The must-order appetizer is the garlic seared calamari. The calamari is always well-seasoned, flash fried I'm assuming, and served with oyster mushrooms and a garlicky sauce. I have never had calamari prepared this way at any other restaurant. The New England clam chowder was satisfying and served with a biscuit on top. The colossal shrimp risotto had perfectly cooked risotto and ginormous shrimp that were not overcooked. Mr. Masraff always stops by and asks if the food is good; and I am certain that he takes immense pride in his food and service and it is very evident. I have been here 6 or 7 times (6-7!!!) and it's 5 stars every time. They are incredibly great and consistently so. My diagnosis: One of the best restaurants in Houston for upscale New American food.
Valet is $10 but there is a free parking garage in the back. On days where it's busy, it might take you a bit of time to find a spot and get situated so plan ahead if you made reservations. My friend and I came here on a Wednesday night around 6 PM so it wasn't too packed inside the restaurant. Right when we got seated, the waiter took orders for drinks/appetizers and put down a bread basket in front of us. The bread was warm and had salt and rosemary on top- it was delicious with the butter! For drinks, I asked for their sweetest beverage and the server said he'll surprise me. He brought out a pineapple cocktail which was refreshing, spritzy, and had the perfect amount of sweetness to it. For appetizers, my friend and I got the Hudson Valley Foie Gras which was spectacular. It was rich and buttery from the foie gras and thyme butter brioche (that had a nice toasted texture) and was balanced out with the tartness from the strawberries. I highly recommend this dish! In terms of the entree, I ended up getting the American Red Snapper. The exterior was nice and crispy, the filet was flaky, and the flavor was well done with the creamy sauce on top. I also enjoyed the polenta and veggies that came with the fish. I had a bite of my friend's Bison Ribeye and to be honest, it wasn't my favorite. It tasted very sweet like teriyaki jerky but if that's what you look for in a steak, this dish might be for you! As for the sides, we got the jumbo lump crab fried rice and Masraff's creamed spinach. Although I'm not exactly used to zucchini and bell peppers being in fried rice, the generous lumps of crab was appreciated and it was a decent side. The creamed spinach is rich and heavy but paired well with the bread. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at Masraff's!
I have seen this place many times from the Frost Bank that is adjacent. Finally decided that I had to come in here for a birthday dinner. Wow! The food was exceptional. We started out with softshell crab and stone crab legs, which were amazing. Entrées were extremely good and the dessert was next to the level. Great coffee! Great service! Great food! What more do you need? Try it!
We hadn't yet been to their new location and we absolutely loved it. We decided to come for their amazing Valentine's Day menu as it sounded so good with options for any tastes. Location and ambiance is wonderful. Easy to park. Beautiful restaurant and decor. Tables were spaced nicely. Wait staff was exceptional and very attentive. Masraff and son were both there to see over everything. They approached every table to thank them for choosing their restaurant for this special occasion. I thought that was so nice of them. The food was exquisite. Very high quality and nice attention to detail. We will definitely be back.
Made reservations to dine in Valentines day for 5pm. The restaurant was already full of patrons. The last time ive been to Masraff's was when they were in the Galleria. The ambiance in this new location is more modern and open, gives you less of an intimate setting. We were sat promptly and greeted promptly by our server. We were handed the Valentines day set 3 course menu, which was disappointing since I wanted a specific item from the main dinner menu. I chose the quail crepette. This was underwhelming. The quail was chopped up super fine and the it just didnt have good texture since it was also served with a puree. Couldn't taste any foie gras like the menu implies it had. My husband had the calamari which was the best hot item we received all night. The mushroom sauce it had alone could've been served with every dish and it would've elevated them. Onto the main entrees. I got the filet and substituted for the mushroom risotto since im allergic to shellfish. It was texturely great and flavorful but it was underseasoned, I hated to ask for salt which took 10minutes to receive. My risotto was already cold by the time. But it was a busy evening so I understand. They're probably not used to people asking for salt. My filet had minimal crust, though it was tender as expected. The med rare cook was done in haste because the middle was very cold to the touch. I wish I took a picture of it. At this point, I realized that Masraff's probably serves better non-steak dishes. My husband got the lamb chops, med rare. Im normally the type of enjoy the fat caps for any steak, and grilled lamb fat to me is very flavorful. My husband gave me a bit of the steak with fat on it and although it had great lamb flavor, the fat wasn't rendered at all and it was gelatinous. Seemed like they should've taken more time trimming the chops or spent more time on the grill to char it. The meat by the bones, which is normally enjoyable to gnaw on was entirely raw. The lamb, like the filet, had very little outer crust thats typical of a good cook on steak. The desserts were the best. The chocolate fondant was luxurious as well as the apple crumble. If they opened a dessert only store, I'd be a regular there. Dont get me wrong, its a great establishment and has been around awhile. It just didnt work for me this time around.
We celebrated our company gathering and we had dinner in the private room. The sea bass was killer. The calamari appetizer was the best I've ever had. It was my first time in Houston and what an experience! The owner came out to say hello and ensure everyone was happy. 5 stars service! Also Miguel our waiter was 10/10! The whole team is an asset to this establishment.
This place was incredible! Service was as good as the best fine dining places and the food was just as good. The short rib was the best I have had in years, the mushroom risotto side was rich but great and the desserts finished the evening off perfectly.
Masraff's offers great food in an ambiance that is very satisfying for special occasions or simply treating yourself to a great meal. Parking is simple but the valet is very reasonably priced. The staff will take excellent care of you from the greeting to serving every course of your meal. All are willing to ensure you receive the best they have to offer. While I've never had a bad meal at Masraff's, some dishes are just crazy good like the calamari (5 rating). Their steaks (5 rating) are of outstanding quality and perfectly cooked. My most recent dish was the Chilean Sea Bass was a little over cooked (4 rating). The restaurant is pricey but in my opinion worth the cost. I'm always looking forward to my next visit eventually trying everything on the menu.
Excellent ambiance, service, wine and drinks, menu choices...all perfectly prepared and presented. Seafood is so good highly recommend those choices. A bit pricey but the excellence was worth it. Splurge and enjoy!
I got to finally try Masraff's!! I've been wanting to try since when they were near the galleria and I'm so glad I did! We went for HRW and the food and service were amazing! There is a parking garage in the back that's not far at all if you don't want to do valet. It was quite busy for a weekday dinner so I knew it was gonna be good! Our server took his time to explain the drink and food to us, help guiding us to choose our meals. The lighting is dim to create a more relaxed atmosphere environment. Can't wait to be back!
Came here for a date with a reservation for a table of 2 and got seated right by a wall that blocked an exiting way from the table. Despite the restaurant being empty and there was plenty of other table for a party of two. But the server was super nice and friendly, he happily explained the menu and gave recommendations. We order the Garlic Seared Calamari, Garlic Honey Glazed Texas Quail, American Red Snapper and Chilean Sea bass. The calamari and quail were a 8/10 as it was nicely cooked and flavorful. As for the red snapper (5.5/10), the fish was fresh but was way too salty to enjoy. The seabass (7/10) was fresh, nicely cook, and seasoned well though it felt like something was missing. The place wasn't busy when I got there on a Tuesday though it did picked up later in the night. It was will decorated and clean.

Wow! Barry was so attentive, very knowledgeable and helped this indecisive couple. The bread to start was amazing, very flavorful! The ambience is upscale casual and very inviting. The Chilean sea bass was 10/10 No wonder they have been around for 25 years! read more

We had date night at Masraff's and if you haven't been you absolutely should...we dined for Houston Restaurant Weeks and the food was delish, drinks impeccable, service on point and the owner Tony Masraff is the most dapper and sweetest 86 year old I've ever met! The lamb, quail, crab cakes, lobster risotto, tuna - it was all fabulous. Tony shared the best stories and was so personable, we will definitely be back to help support this local fave that's been in business since 1995. Picturesd here is the lobster risotto, crab cake and cheesecake mousse. Very large portions for HRW. read more
I was greeted as I walked in and immediately seated at my table. The server came over as introduced himself. Water was served and drink orders taken. We ordered calamari straight away. They brought bread and we reviewed the menu to decide what was next. Garlic Seared Calamari- one of my favs. The flavor profile were spot one with just one difference from the last time I had the dish... green onions, I could not decide if the were necessary. The Calamari was tender and delicious. P.E.I Mussels- delicious flavor and really enjoyed the textures of the dish Fennel Pollen Dusted Diver Scallop- plump and tender. tasty and visually appealing. Seaweed and salad components were a nice complement. Lobster Grits - comfort in a bowl, flavorful grits with tender bits of lobster. Pan Seared Hudson Valley Foie Gras - so rich and sweet/savory such a nice way to finish the meal... eat bit more delicious than the previous. Literally, the only criticism I have is the air conditioner was working a little too hard... it was super cold. read more
Open 2 years ago , but we just discovered this beautiful restaurant and bar in the Memorial area.Father and son owners, Tony and Russell Masraff offer a beautiful setting with raw oyster bar & sushi, an exceptional experience of food to satisfy all the senses A recommendation from 1 of my patients brought us to their Friday happy hour 4 to 6 pm .Recognized by Wine spectator for their extensive wine collection, we had to see what all the hype was about. We choose 3 items from their happy hour menu. Braised short rib egg rolls. Pure deliciousness with spicy pickled carrot and cucumber Asian slaw cilantro and sweet chili Chinese mustard sauce . Delectible. Masraff's famous fresh tuna tacos were a blend of perfect thin crunchiness with Thai basil , soy reduction and wasabi aoli. Great balance of sweet and saltiness. The braised Wagyu meatballs with garlic and shallott confit, smoked squash ragout( love anything with squash) and Reggiano polenta was absolutely " Bonne Boche" a delicious mouthful. Wine by the glass and bottle were 1/2 off for happy hour and happy hour menu had a wide variety of choices. Great choice and thankful to have come across this wonderful restaurant that will absolutely be returning for dinner soon. read more

Promptly seated. Chair held out for me, napkin placed delicately on my lap. Everything is clean and the ambiance is classy. I felt like royalty, I imagine this is the quality of food the royals eat at Buckingham palace. They have two mocktails, one sweet strawberry hill that I absolutely loved! Fresh strawberry puree made it delicious. Another was the agave nectar more, refreshing with cucumber hints and a fresh cucumber! Both wonderful. I really enjoyed the spinach salad - the dressing blended with the Gouda and the walnuts... the textures married perfectly and all ingredients were fine and fresh! The bread was soft like a cloud - softer than a marshmallow and airy - it was warm and aromatic with fresh rosemary spices and Parmesan. I want to make this bread at home. It gave me that warm fuzzy feeling and the butter was of the perfect consistency. My water cup never ran dry. The wait staff was kindly attentive but never intrusive. They have fresh seafood flown in daily but I had heard of the fall of the bone ribs... I have no regrets I would come back and order this dish again! Every ingredient I encountered here was top notch quality, this is Fine Food! The decadent Barolo Braised Short Rib is melt in your mouth ...and the sauce - I could have licked it off the plate! Even the marinated sweet onion was simply perfection. The creamy side of smoked Yukon potato puree balanced the savory dish well. I ate all of the meat. The portions were also very generous! My photos do not do them justice. I tasted the Asian caramelized mushrooms, what an imaginative unique dish - a lighter side. The quail eggs made a surprising touch. I tasted the russet potatoe gratin, as well. It was just a tad salty... but that is far better than it being bland - it was bursting with flavor and perfectly executed with a nice cheesy melted top. For dessert we had the chocolate fondue, I could barely fit anything else in my stomach but had to get a few bites, it was a delicious end to the meal. It was cooked perfectly - the ooey chocolate insides just oozed out of the cake ! The real cherry on top of the evening was that Mr.Masraff himself came by the table to greet us and ask how our dining meal was going. What a honor - he has made such a fine establishment here. I highly recommend it, if you can get a reservation! read more

This was my first time coming to Masraff's at its new location, several years later again for HRW! The menu options all looked great so I was really looking forward to this. Appetizers: Garlic seared calamari- not your average calamari, and I really loved this flavour combo and the mushrooms with it. Fried Quail- also delicious. The sauce on it brought a balancing sweetness and together with the polenta was just such a homey dish! Entree's: Braised short rib- never have I had a more tender short rib. So much flavour oozing from it. And who doesn't love a good mash. Rack of lamb- lamb itself was fine- at this point I think I was just filling up so there was no wow factor. The truffle potato gratin really came through with the truffle flavour which is a win. Desserts: the apple cobbler was the best, but be warned you will be very full by the time you get to this part.... Honorable mention- that cheesy rosemary doc is was SO delicious. I don't know how I managed to cut myself off... Parking was easy- pull up to the garage in the back, plenty of spots on a late Friday night. I l enjoyed the open layout of the restaurant and service was great- not too overbearing but helpful. read more

The first time hubs and I have been to Masraff's was probably over a decade ago when it was in the Galleria area. To be around for so long speaks to itself. Oysters were perfect. They even grate the horseradish, which we thought it was cheese at first. My duck breast and foie gras were perfectly cooked. Hubs had the short rib. It was too much for him to finish. Even the bread and butter were perfect and I was really sad when they took it away from our table after our meals. Although we were full, hubs couldn't resist the sticky toffee pudding on the menu... and I'm glad he ordered it! The caramel aka sticky part of the dessert was actually glazed around the plate which I enjoyed because the cake wasn't drenched in it, making it too sweet to enjoy. You can control your own sweetness factor. So it was more like a decadent brownie that you can swirl around in the caramel sauce. Service was splendid! read more

Husband and I had a really nice time here. We came the day before mothers day to beat the crowd. Our server was great! He explain all the top sellers to us. Lots of wine to choose from . I had a cocktail I forgot the name but it was basically a watermelon margarita. Food was delicious. Ambiance is nice. You may feel like you need to get super dressed up but most ppl were in jeans and a bottom up. Appetizer: pan seared calamari VERY FLAVORFUL!!! Not your average calamari Drink: watermelon margarita ( asked for extra sweet) was perfect Dinner : lamb yummmmmmmmmm Sides: creamed spinach ( it was ok) and the fancy word for mashed potatoes lol it was delicious! Dessert : cheesecake moose delicious Sticky toffee pudding DELICIOUS! read more

I came here for Houston Restaurant Week to try their 3 course dinner menu. The crispy shrimp maki roll was underwhelming, but I mainly chose it because I wanted a light appetizer. As for the filet mignon, it was cooked to my liking (medium rare) and I enjoyed it with the creole bordelaise! The carrots were cooked nicely; I wish they gave me more of them! As for the potato confit, it was cheesy and heavy as expected. I think I would've preferred roasted potatoes instead. As for the apple cobbler crisp, I loved the generous amount of graham crumble. It was a comforting dessert that took me back to my childhood! Overall, I feel that I got good value out of the HRW deal. In addition, we had the honor of Tony Masraff checking in on us at our table and asking how the food was! read more

Well I've heard of this place before I've never actually been here until today. Since I was there for an event it was a fixed menu with a salad and a chicken dish. Of course I didn't think to take a picture of the salad but it was quite refreshing and large. It had diced cucumbers in it which was really unique. And it was quite refreshing. The chicken dish I did snag a picture of because it was very unique looking. When I read the description I wasn't sure what to think, when it shut up on my plate I just thought it looked like art. The smell of rosemary was quite nice, but I was really blown away with the overall flavor. This is one of the few times I've had a chicken dish at an event and it was memorable enough to write a review about. Additionally, the service was amazing. I don't think my iced tea ever got completely empty. I was even thanked by two different people walking out the door. Since I don't know what things cost nor the names of what I ate, or a picture of one of the two things, this isn't the most useful review. However, I hope it serves to recognize the overall quality of this place! read more
So disappointing! I believe owner/management and even chefs have changed since they moved to a new location and has a completely new menu (only the seared garlic calamari is the same) . New location does not look as fancy as the old one, and decoration is boring. - Seared garlic calamari ($16)- same old taste, delicious! -Campechana ($19)- flavorful and plenty of crab lumps but after 2nd bite it became very salty and hard to finish. -Duck breast & foie gras ($48)- smallest duck breast I have ever got from a restaurant yet it wasn't even tender. I ordered medium and it came out well done (totally brown inside). Plus the sauce did not go well with foie gras. Do not order this dish, the overall portion is very small. -Lamb ($44)- same problem as above, chef overcooked from medium rare to medium. Does not come with any side dishes. -Yukon gold puree ($9)- best mashed potatoes, delightful and buttery. Overall, I don't think I will come back here again. Very disappointed in both quality and quantity of the foods. read more

Over a year since our last visit (due to covid) and Masraff's has changed locations, but still going strong. Food is just as good as it has always been, and service remains excellent. We got our usual calamari, gin martinis with blue-cheese-stuffed olives, wedge salad and clam chowder, and the main course of duck Rossini and sea bass, and everything hit the spot perfectly. Thirsten (who I believe is both manager and sommelier) ensured were we were being well cared for and our waiter was Johnny-on-the-spot with everything. Was one of our first nights back out on the indoor dining scene, and the perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. Of course we will continue to come back again and again. read more

Masraff's always goes above and beyond when it comes to the overall customer experience. My first time dining there was almost 10 years ago during Houston Restaurant Week, and owner Tony Masraff stopped by each table to offer a warm welcome and introduce himself. That interaction with Mr. Tony Masraff - and his equally warm staff - made me a lifelong fan of the contemporary American restaurant. Now my recent experience last week was just as delightful. My niece and nephew wanted a "fancy" dining experience while staycation-ing in the Galleria area. I knew Masraff's would be perfect - and it was. Of course, the menu offered many items that had us three adults excited; however the children's wanted chicken tenders, pizza, and fries. What in the world? Well, when I asked our server if there were any off-the-menu items that were kid-friendly, he listed off exactly what the kids had in mind: chicken tenders, pizza and fries. The smiles on their faces! The kids ate everything on their plates, and the adults indulged in dishes like Alaskan Halibut over risotto, snapper over polenta, bison ribeye, crab cakes, toffee bread pudding, wine... Thank you, again, Masraff's. Your entire team delivers first class service. And the food never disappoints. read more
I love Masraff! This place was my first love when it came to fancy dining. Ofc I have branched out ever since but my first time here was about 10 years ago at their old location and their great service and amazing food has not changed since. From their appetizers to their steaks, nothing disappoints. This place will always be on top of my recommendation list. read more
I went on Valentine's day. So I dunno if this is going to help. But I thought the experience they have on Valentine's day was nice. They gave us a ride in celebration of the day which was a nice touch. The meals were nice. I probably enjoyed the appetizers more than the meal itself. But I have nothing bad to say about the restaurant, the experience, and the food. Overall experience was great. Felt like a safe place to eat and enjoy. Nothing too risky, and nothing surprising. read more

Masraff's offers delicious food in a beautifully designed interior space! When you drive up there is an option for valet but also there are plenty of places to self-park. Inside the space is private and has a long hallway to the various rooms in the restaurant, the first being the bar/lounge area, the second being the main dining room. Restrooms are between the two spaces on the opposite side of the hallway. I made a reservation for our group to have a dinner here recently and was pleasantly surprised at how seamless the evening was. We had one person cancel so we didn't need as big of a table as we initially thought. The hostess sat us at a nice semi circle booth and left us in the capable hands of Lucy, our server for the evening. Two of our group had salads that were beautifully presented, and then there were scallops, halibut, sea bass, and Boston clam chowder brought out to us for dinner. A silence fell over the table as we all indulged in our dishes. Everyone was satiated and left no room for dessert. That will have to be saved for the next time we are in the area! A great experience from start to finish! read more

What an experience...we were greeted what seemed like a welcoming committee! I felt like royalty! We were seated at a half booth by a window near the bar and I must say next time we plan to ask for the same spot...it was cozy, romantic and perfect setting for an amazing dining event. Aaron, our server was spot on! Made great recommendations and gave us delicious options to keep our meal low carb. Although there was an error in my order, Aaron really strived to make things right and they went above and beyond customer service. However his error turned out to be an amazing dish in itself! We started off with their crab cake which was fresh and had a hint of sweet with a little heat. Simple flavors with a complex sense. Next we tried their tomato basil bisque, which the soups change regularly btw, and wow, it was such a tasty, comfort of the soul bowl of goodness! Also, the foie gras was such a nice decadent touch. It really should be a dessert! Added with a glass of sauterne that enhances the sweet, savory and sexiness of the foie gras. I had the tomahawk pork chop and it was so juicy and tender! The mustard, applesauce and cherry? Chutney really played with my tastebuds. And the green beans were cooked perfectly. Boo had the lamb chops and surprisingly they didn't taste gamey at all. In fact they were cooked perfect and paired with mixed vegetables that really made the meal light yet filling! Overall our dining experience hit all the marks on ambiance, service, seating, food and spirits. We definitely plan to return and request our new favorite spot and Aaron of course!! read more

Hi Kristine!…
I absolutely love a great happy hour! One of my favorite "meals"! Tried the one at the new location on a Friday afternoon and it was fantastic! Sat at the bar and had amazing service from Kara. I was complaining that I couldn't find my readers and Kara was nice enough to let me use hers!! No drink specials except 1/2 off wine but to be honest, I came for the HH menu! We ordered everything except didn't make it to the oysters! LOL! Can't really say there was a fave because they were all great! read more
