As far as Marshall's' go, this location is big, clean, and bright. Shoppers and staff seem to have general respect for the store, and there isn't crap flung all over the place. In a word, I actually enjoy coming here, and am hard-pressed to walk out empty-handed. Excellent place for dresses, men's clearance, and exercise gear. They also have a large selection of housewares and shoes. Typically I hate these discount stores because it takes forever to get out of there due to short-staffing. But I happened upon a spectacular sight - three checkers to my left, and 4 on the right! And what happened then? Well, in Marshall's they say... that my small Grinchy heart grew three sizes that day. read more

So I made a new discovery when I was in here last (6/4/12) - FOOD! Gourmet frickin food. Snacks and delicious seasonings and even drinks. I came shopping hoping to find some white dresses to wear on my honeymoon. I tried on two but both were cuter on the hanger. Though some jean shorts did call my name ($12.00) and some cute white PJs ($14.99) - even found some baby socks for my sister-in-law to be's baby-to-be ($5.99). I bought a variety of stuff!! ($157.68 total after an hour of shopping!!) My favorite items were the foods. Packages of popcorn, granola, dried jalapeno (spice), a paprika& lime combo spice, and really pretty salt and pepper shaker/grinders. We actually took the ones on our registry off after we saw these ($12.99 each) - I liked them a lot! I don't like to buy water, since it's free from the tap, but I tried this papaya-infused, non-flavored water that was unreal. Seriously, very good! The Amy aisle (aka snack aisle) is near the fitting rooms. The fitting rooms themselves were clean and free of tried-on discards. The final line to check out was a little slow moving. The guy that helped me was very careful to wrap everything breakable. I'm sure he deals with customers that insist upon this. I'm a regular shopper at this Marshall's location and I'm starting to wonder why. Today was an especially f'd off experience though. I was there doing some Xmas shopping when I noticed a curly haired employee named "Danny" following me around as if i were trying to shoplift. Literally anywhere I went in the store he would rush to remain within five feet of me. I'm a very quiet person and was keeping to myself. When I ask the guy what the deal was, all he did was speak in Spanish to another employee. That in and of itself is pretty damn rude but little did Danny know, I paid attention in Spanish class. What he said was not only extremely racist, but extremely unprofessional. I won't sink to the level of repeating it. With that being said, I absolutely won't be spending my money at this place anymore. I WOULD NOT recommend spending your hard earned money here either. Smooth move management. . I love Marshalls - especially this one since it is always neat and sometimes things are moved around in an appealing way. Staff is always helpful and this place is stocked with so much things to look through (perfect for when you have to buy a last minute gift!) Their clothing selection is always "in season" and I usually come here for their high end hair products. The only downside is people opening and trying on the products so when I want to buy a product, I have to consider buying it half used. read more

Horrible costumer service. Rude cashier did not answer any of my questions. I didn't even catch her name because she hid her name tag. I asked if I could keep the hanger for one item and she told me in rude manner " no,, we own it and recycle it " ok .. I am like literally buying $300 worth of clothes and you cannot leave one hanger in there ? I didn't pay attention to it that much, then she pushed all the clothes towards me, so told her that I obviously needed a bag, as I had purchased tons of merchandise. She then proceeded to point at the wall with recycled bags and tell me that I could buy one from them for a $1 if I needed one. The person in the fitting room was really suspicious of every single person, she made me feel uncomfortable. Plus, while I was in the fitting room she gave away my shopping cart to some one else. Clothes selection is not the greatest, but I needed to pick something for vacation, and it was only one option available close by. The only plus, is that the parking here is not complicated, but since I had to walk out with my hands full of clothes, with out any bag, it didn't matter that much where I parked . The house ware is good , but not too much selection on kids, good choice on active wear , BUT THE CHANGING ROOM FLOOR IS DIRTY I talk to the management before it still No change, give up. Don't come here!!!! They have the worst customer service ever!!!! My kids were there picking up some toys today and we were told by this old lady who was at the cash register right next to the toy section to not to touch any toys/take anything out from the shelves bc she said she's not paid to pick up toys after them. And then every 10 mins. She would come over and said things like I can ring this one up for you or you should stop riding on that car! I was like what the heck! They are kids, that's how they pick their toys, by playing with them! So I asked to speak to a store manager, and this associate named olena came and not trying to help at all. Not all customers are trying to pull a fast one. I spent $375 in the store $59.99 was the luggage I returned on this visit. A wheel was missing which a Delta airlines employee brought to my attention before checking the luggage onto the flight out of SFO. I'm not sure when it came off but I bought the luggage for the trip the night before. During the return process I explained what happened in detail. The manager seemed more upset than anything that I had used the item. This wasn't a pair of shoes or a dress. Luggage is made to be durable & buyers expect it to be so. If during its 1st use a wheel snaps off...that wouldn't be normal or expected. I shouldn't be made to feel like the bad guy during a return because the manager fears they will get in trouble for doing the right thing. I went back to find another piece of luggage....as I told the cashier I really did need the unit. I spent almost double I had on the first piece because maybe you really do get what you pay for. The manager is standing at the front cutting her eyes at the customers. I assured her that all the wheels on the new piece were intact... Its a sad employer that would put fear of reprisal in its higher employees then expect them to teach and give great service. The one thing will undoubtedly cancel out the other. When a customer has a good experience they may tell 3-4 people. When they have a bad experience they seem to tell everyone they see. read more

This place is in a big shopping center. It is busy but plenty of parking. The prices are fairly reasonable. They have a wide variety on things they sell here. I think this store has best kitchen wear at the best price. They have good prices for kids clothing. Their quality is pretty good. I come here a lot to buy birthday presents or any holiday gift. They have so many options you can find something for everyone. I recommend checking out this store. read more

I was looking for something unique to stuff my honey's Christmas stocking with. While browsing Marshalls, these bright florescent orange PUMA boxers grabbed my attention. I just had to get them for my man. Initially there was a pink pair that I wanted to get but I knew that was a little too metro for my Hot Stuff Stud. Although I'm sure he would've worn them for me if I gave him enough "encouragement." He usually wears PUMA boxers but PUMA came out with a different model and I give these "new" design two thumbs up. Since he has a rather large package, I knew they would look great on him but WOW!! Holy Heck!! That bad boy, fit perfectly & snugly creating the type of package that wet dreams are made of. I wanted to drop to my knees and worship his gigantic....when he waltzed into the living room sportin' these bad boys. I actually was thinking of getting a funny gift of an elephant or flamingo thong or Mr. Snugglie. I'm glad I chose the PUMA boxers instead. Just remember, it's all in the presentation!! All this hotness is available at Marshalls for only a fraction of the retail price. Came to this location earlier today. They really need to work on customer service and management. If you have a problem you certainly need to argue with them or call corporate. Most of the cashiers are rude when you first walk up to the register, it's like they already have an attitude. My friend was buying something that clearly stated $1 .00 to anybody that looked at the clearance tag. The sales associate (Karima or Carima, however it's spelled) said that it was actually $13.00 and that the price sticker was badly printed. If so why put that product out like that. I work in retail as well and if we have mistakenly priced an item wrong with a barcode that matched that item then we would be obligated to give that item to the customer with the price that was shown. None the less while this was going on all the associates just stared at us as if to intimidate us but I could care less about them standing behind the counter looking as rude as they already do. So we spoke to the manager (Teresa) and she was also of no help. She raised her voice and stated it was also incorrectly marked while one of the register lady's started laughing. This Marshalls is great for kitchen supplies and housewares! I usually come to stores like this with a specific something in mind (like bake ware, jewelry racks, etc) that I don't want to spend a lot on. Fortunately this Marshalls usually has it! I can't speak for the clothing selection, but if your looking for things around your house, there is always a TON of things to choose from and there is usually no line to checkout. When my wife needs new pants, new shoes, new shirts, we go to Marshalls. This store on Monument is very convienient for us since it is right around the corner. The prices always seem to be very low and reasonable and they usually have a good selection of whatever my wife is looking for. One thing we did notice one of the last times we were in there, was they actually have a decent variety of gourmet foods. From snacks to oils and seasonings that have it all. My wife found plantain chips that she discovered she liked in Costa Rica and of course they have them here. read more

My wife went in to this store to pick up some weights and a yoga mat for our daughter to use at home during Distance Learning. When she went to pay she asked the clerk if she could scan one box twice (she had trouble lifting them into the bottom rack of her shopping cart due to a spine injury) but the clerk said that she must lift them both out because they "have different codes". The clerk watched as my wife struggled to get them out (40lbs) and on to the counter and then the clerk used the scanning gun to scan one of the boxes twice, with a smirk. My wife asked "So you can scan it twice?" and the clerk replied, "No. But one didn't have a tag, so...." She proceeded to hand her a receipt saying only, "Next in line" to the customer behind her. My wife was waiting for her to hand her the yoga mat when the clerk said, "It's Jennifer, just in case!" and when my wife asked, "In case what?" the clerk yelled, "In case you want to report me. I know you read my name tag!". I guess she decided to go ahead and report it to the manager on duty who was extremely professional and highly apologetic. Had she not been, I would have gone down and handled this an entirely different way this evening. read more

The entrance of this store is hidden. I didn't even see the sign until we were right at the entrance. It wasn't busy for a Saturday but the store is quite big. Not sure if it's the same size as other Marshalls, call me unobservant. This is the first Marshalls that I actually noticed racks that were solely for selling clothes that are damaged but CHEAP! I looked through here just in case there was something that needed a little needle & thread TLC. They have a ton of Bay Area sports gear, SF Giants, Oakland A's gear. Just fyi. read more

I went into this location and saw a cute bathroom cabinet that was on clearance. Unfortunately the inside of the cabinet was in pretty bad shape and all of the screws needed to be re-screwed. It would have taken a bit of effort and time to refinish it and get it in working order. They had marked it down to 70 dollars but for the effort of refinishing it I was hoping to get a better price. I waited for over 20 minutes for the manger on duty, Kareema, however, when she approached me, she acted like she didn't have time to talk to me, she didn't address me, she just kept repeating over and over once it's on clearance I can't mark it down any more. She didn't listen to my concerns and kept cutting me off and repeating herself. This location offers 10% discounts for opening credit cards however she couldn't even afford me the time of day. Limited houseware selection, but I ended up buying a ton of shorts and t-shirts since it's hot af in WC, and I didn't have any clothes like that while I lived in SF. so when i spotted some cute shorts and shirts, I stocked up. I also purchased some kitchenware items, and all total I spent around $300 or so. I'm mentioning this because apparently that made me a suspicious shopper to the cashier as she immediately announces to me that they don't take clothing returns without the label attached (oh really? i'm sorry - are these ballgowns or $20 shorts)? and i was like, ok, i'll try to refrain from the old wear and bring back scam over a pair of bike shorts. which i said in my head. but all i did was look at her and be like, OK. Because i'm not going to get into an argument with someone over freaking shorts from marshalls and preliminary false accusations. then. THEN. when i go to pay, i start to use my debit card and she needs to see my ID. really? i mean, ok, i get security, but at that point i felt like a criminal. which i then did say something to her about, like, oh boy, i guess you think i'm just starting out on a life of crime here today, huh? she had the grace to look embarrassed, so i don't know if this is a marshalls thing or a local store thing or this particular cashier, but this is the first time i've experienced such weird service. not going to rush back to here anytime soon. read more

Pretty decent place, I'm so glad they remodeled this whole plaza. The parking is kind of cramped tho, it's like they tried to fit as many parking spots as they could, only one car could come through each section. :( The place is just like every other Marshall's you go to, not all too organized. I was looking for a dress and there's wasn't many things to choose from. This place is just like ROSS, is it owned by the same company? Customer service is alright, I was walking around the aisles and one of the workers were walking the same direction I was and he let me pass him first and he smiled which is nice because when I usually do that, the workers just go right in front of me. I've been shopping at Marshalls of Pleasant Hill for the past 3 years, faithfully. Great location and finds! Loved it (past tense). Today I had the worst experience. I purchased a black top about a week ago.There was a hole from the sensor. I had already removed the tag as I was planning on wearing it. Apparently, the tag did not match the description of the top (in their system). Why? Not sure. I asked that they make an exception this one time considering I'm a frequent shopper. I also stated the fact that I see customers frequent returning without a receipt. Dustin, the store manager, was so RUDE, not helpful what so ever. I understand store policy but sometimes leniency goes a long way. I was willing to take a store credit or an even exchange. But Dustin, Said no it's there policy. I even stated that if the tag would have been attached they would have more then likely taken it back with no questions. I was so upset of the customer service that was being delivered by their "store manager" out of all people. He later said that he would band me from the store. Really? Who says that? That's want happens to thieves. Clearly a misuse of power. It was humiliating and degrading. A misjudgment of my character. He took FOREVER to provide the customer service number, you should have that on hand. I never realized how many complaints this location had pertaining to their customer service. Sad! My brothers and I call this store "Hit or Miss," because let's face it - whether or not you find something you're looking for is a hit or miss affair. But when you hit, oh boy, do you hit. The thing is, though, I've bought stuff from here that no human being should ever wear because it's hard to resist the allure of undervalued clothing. (Relax, I returned [most of] them.) Also, all of the pants I buy here are too long because I wear the "normal" size of 34 x 30, and that size is ALWAYS out of stock. Anyway, the location of the place is great. If your old lady insists on dragging you along to Kohl's, you can ditch her and go look at weird iThing accessories and other useless shit at Marshall's. Marshall's, how I love the deals on clothing, shoes, home accessories, and kitchen goods! Every time I wander in here I leave with things I didn't expect because I see something else on my way to or from what I was looking for. Anyway, Marshall's is perfect if you need a "thing" but are not super picky about hte specific shape and style of said "thing". For example, I bought curtains here which ended up being tan and sheets in turquoise and brown, but they both could have been another color. I also like to sweep through the dresses and tops in case something interesting pops out at me. I've bought dresses off clearance because they were inexpensive, what can I say! Marshall's is also my stop for exercise gear because I don't care as much what it looks like, but that it works. Some other misc items: ear buds, shower caddy, vegetable peeler, shoes, art, and misc household gadgets. You would rate 4, but you get a 3 because of one particular incident. As a note, they are serious about their return policy. Once I misplaced my ID and they wouldn't process a return! Never mind that I had my receipt and tags, bummer. That particular experience was irksome because I had to come back a second time. I don't mind the policy being stuck to, but the way I was told was not the most polite. The original cashier I got was fine, she said I'm sorry I can't help you but let me get the manager, good enough. The manager spoke to me very forcefully, as opposed to a polite tone with a "I'm sorry we can't help you", more of a your bothering me, go away "Sorry, no". I did ask a second time to be sure, "I have the receipt and tags, you sure you can't take these back?" and still got the no. I guess they must have a fraud problem, but still lady be nice. This is one of my favorite Marshalls locations. It is always pretty organized and well stocked. The store is spacious and the clothes racks aren't squished together. The key is to park in the back of the store because there are always plenty of open spots unlike in the front of the store. All Marshalls stores are great places to find a great deal, but it's always nice to shop in a clean and organized store instead of scrounging through disheveled racks of clothes. read more

It is a good size and carries a large variety of everything you could want to spend your bargain bucks on. My favorites? The housewares and work-out clothes. I am a loyal Marshalls, TJMaxx customer over the years. However, today was a HUGE disappointment due to this specific store. I can't remember the last time I met/interacted with a moomoo (idiot) manager. That's right, you read it! A MOOMOO! Today, I definitely found one...Let me warn you, that this review is going to be lengthy! I walked into this store and thought immediately how poor the selection was compared to the other Marshalls stores. Then, I continued to walk around the store and saw how FILTHY the shelves were. I thought, if there weren't enough items packed in these shelves, why do they still look like piles of garbage? Shelves had opened, broken and leaky items near the accessories / lotion area. At some point, the store manager needs to decide to toss unusable items! Ummm, broken glass lotion bottles and opened/cracked body wash, etc.? Yukk! AND what's with the pricing? Why do your store's merchandise cost more than other Marshalls? On to my problem: I tried to return my items without my receipt (keep reading..) and I politely explained to the manager Mark M. that I was never given the receipt at the point of sale. Sadly, today the items I wanted to return have been discounted by 60% and I was not about to take this massive loss. So, I kindly asked for him to search for my purchase history in his computer using my credit card given it has only been 3 days. But he gave me the common statement "We cannot refund without the original receipt." Didn't even try to comprehend my words... So he insisted that he did not want to look at his system because it was not in their store policy. However, he COULD have, BUT he did not want to. Of course that infuriated me given that the receipt was not given to me in the first place! (Fine, I should have checked.) =P I only asked that he look in his system for the original price that I paid 3 days ago as proof so I can get my full refund rather than the 60% discounted price. Thief! Mark didn't want to type in a few keys so i'm forced to keep the items or otherwise face the 60% mark down! So I spoke with another Marshall's manager and she was more than happy to help search in her store system if only I purchased my items from her store. It is not that hard to type in keys to make your customer happy, MARK! Mark M. - You sir, are the biggest moomoo manager! You are horrible and you require additional training which you should discuss with your District Manager. You are making him look bad for hiring you! You should not work in this business if you are a power hungry a** and act like a robot insisting on making your customers pay for your laziness. Done and done! (= Good luck shopping here. Horrible customer service from employees and manager! I was shopping for a throw blanket and found one that I liked. I noticed it didn't have a price tag. I scoured the racks looking for a duplicate but couldn't find one. I found a similar styles ranging from $14.99 to $19.99. I grabbed one of each and took them both, along with the one I wanted to the cashier. I explained to her that I wanted to purchase the blanket without the tag and couldn't find any others so I brought some comparable blankets in hopes that would help with pricing. She said she needed to call the manager to get pricing. I was trying to be helpful, but I get it! So I stepped aside as she helped other customers and waited for the manager to arrive. After 3 customers behind me had been served the manager finally came. She took the blanket and went to the shelves to look for another. Of course, I knew she wouldn't find one because I had already done the same. Regardless, I waited. When the manager returned she was holding a Cal. King set of bed sheets marked $34.99! I was confused, as I was purchasing a throw blanket and not an entire sheet set. When I questioned why she wasn't using a comparable item she said "this is a designer blanket." I was so shocked that she was trying to charge me for something clearly more than a throw blanket that I said "I don't understand why you would charge me for an entire sheet set when I only want a blanket." The manager rudely rolled her eyes, huffed and said "I already told you this is a designer blanket." Again, shocked by the rude behavior I simply said "then I don't want it" and walked out. How the manager "magically" knew the price of this "designer" blanket would be equivalent to an entire Cal King sheet set is beyond me! After being treated so rudely, and with such dishonesty, I will not be shopping at this store in the future. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!! If I could give zero stars I would. I tried to return a pair of shoes with tags/ stickers never been worn and they would not take them back. Instead of giving me an intelligent explanation as to why...the CONDESCENDING MANAGER continued to repeat "the system will not allow us to take these back" over and over. I asked for an additional explanation (the shoes had literally never been worn/ had tags/ stickers everything). And she repeated her answer in a robotic like sing-songy tone about four more times to me. I quite enjoy shopping at Marshalls...however word to the wise....AVOID THIS LOCATION AND THEIR HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE/MANAGEMENT. God forbid you need to return something with tags...any other retail establishment would have handled this much more professionally I'm sure! read more
