I have gone to this location twice now. The first time was to help my mom find a reasonably priced handbag that was still cute. She found a couple. The price was exactly what she expected and she loved the choices. We also picked up some kitchen utensils and hot pads that have worked awesome. The second time I went was to get a baby present. Since last weekend the Coronavirus has gotten a lot more serious so I called to ask if they would be extending their 30 day return window. I was informed that they weren't making any exceptions to their policy and if I wanted my money back I had to come into the store within 30 days. Way to care about your customers Marshalls. Got an super cute dress in Hawthorne's Marshall. Did not have time to try it on and when I did, the top fit was very weird. I came to Costa Mesa to return since is the closest Marshall to me. There I was told they could not verified the item, they did not have petite sizes in the store. So I was made to feel like I was trying to steal, since they implied that I was trying to return something that was not from marshalls. I got it from Marshalls, the dress had a Marshall tag, the receipt had the item and tag. Marshall's MOD almost did not take back the item. If the people at Hawthorne did not do their diligence and put it on the floor to be sold something that did not match, that should not be put on the customer. Minus one for it being messy and unorganized. I know it's high volume and high traffic store, but still, you want customers to want to shop here. TJ and Marshalls are always hit and miss, btw, same company. I do have better luck with Marshalls than TJ on clothes and shoes because Marshalls (at least this one) carries more name brands. You 'll have to be careful with one thing, because they are in a better area, there markdowns seem to be a little slower...I've seen the same shirt at another Marshalls and it was marked down. I used to think Marshall's was kinda overpriced for discount stores back in the days...then I found a bunch of roxy sweaters I liked($4 more than ross) Michael Kors sunglasses ($12, $2 more than ross) , $40 Chinese Laundry heels that I wear all the time, and a cute Billabong bathing suit for only $24...then I realized that for some items Marshall's has a better selection. Other items like shirts, pants, or socks..i'd go to Ross where they have the same items for less. overall I like coming to Marshall's to see if they have any cool sweaters, bathing suits, and shoes there. I recently bought Beyonce's Heat perfume here....maybe they sell old perfume because I sprayed it and it stinks more than it smells good like department store versions :/ oh they just redid their dressing rooms(well maybe a few months/years ago)...it looks sooooo much prettier!!! the lighting seriously made me feel like I was in some magazine...all the clothes just looked so good on me with the lighting!!! Even though the store looks nicer and a bit more organized than other Marshalls ive been to, the fitting room was filthy, I mean, you can see the dust pile up on the floor and there was that weird smell as soon as you walk into it. If thats how they keep the visible areas, I don't want to imagine how the storage looks like. read more

This Marshalls has a huuuuuuuuge selection of items, but you have to dig through the racks to actually find something that fits you. They have a bunch of domestic items (bathroom, decor, towels). I love this place. Oh Costa Mesa Marshalls, why can't the other Marshalls be like you. The only downside is the parking. I want to park in front not alll the way by the freeway!!! Purchased a shirt from Santa Ana Marshalls and I wanted to return it in this store. The hispanic manager refused. She said that the item was not in the system. Even though the item still has the tag and I keep the receipt, the manager told me to go back to Santa Ana to return the item in a very rude manner. She is so unbelievably rude!!!! Worst customer service ever... I never ever met such a horrible and rude store manager. Nailed it! After going to Nordstrom Rack to fight crowds and find stuff that was still a bit pricey (sure, it WAS $180 and now it's only $89...ONLY $89 for a shirt!), my wife and I meandered over to Marshalls. There were fewer people and while the clothing is quite as upscale, I walked out with a pair of Perry Ellis slacks for $25 (were $75...whatever that means...), two ties for about $25 and a casual button up for $10. I am not the most hipsterish person you'll ever meet, but I have to dress well for work and this Marshalls has a ton of great selections, not a ton of people and the service was great. I still like Nordstrom Rack better, but not in Costa Mesa. The Marshalls rules there. read more

It was a mom and daughter day and we stopped by here to bum around. I can never leave Marshall's with nothing. Sadly, I always find something worth getting. Super clean, nice/funny staff and everything was very nicely scattered in the right area. I went back the next day to get a dog bed that I saw before and didn't get. As I was walking out, after paying mind you. The manager that I was talking about approached me with the rudest look and tone of voice asking if she can help me. I can only assume she was thinking I didn't pay for the bed and was just walking out with it. After that, I will not be coming here again. I would give minus 10 stars to the store supervisor, a Latina or middle eastern woman, who was at the cashier's station today. She is rude, obnoxious, and has the bitchiest attitude. Marshalls should be ashamed of tolerating such rude and unprofessional behavior towards its customers. This woman should not work in customer service if she can't handle her job professionally. I returned a face cream with heavy perfume scent which immediately caused me an asthma attack. I was honest to tell her that I used it once and needed to return it because of the strong smell. She said she couldn't take it back and after I told her again about my asthma attack she said it has to be thrown away which I agreed. She then took the item and threw it in trash in front of me with such anger and hostility. Marshalls should not have this type of unprofessional behavior in the workplace. Well we all love Ross, but sometime we want to take it up a notch and by something really nice to make the bathroom or living look just beautiful for guests, so Marshalls is the place to go they have home decor, kitchen pots and pans, bathroom essentials (towels, caddy's, bath mats) really nice comforter sets, and awesome vases and glasswares too (please read the lead warnings though) and dont forget to peak at the clearance center..oh my gosh I got the best comforter and sham sets last spring at marshalls in Downey for like 75% off...and curtains are nearly 90% if you go at the right season. This store needs to be investigated by Marshalls/TJX Corporate and local police. We can echo Don S's complaints regarding a recent luggage purchase. Last week we purchased (2) non-matching medium-sized pieces of roll-around luggage for $69.99 each, and (1) non-matching carry-on for $59.99. While at the check-out counter, the cashier took each piece of luggage, opened them up, took off the original price tags, and put on new ones. It was a ridiculous production and time-consuming. Further, why would a legitimate business swap out price tags during a purchase? Over the weekend, we realized that we needed a large bag, and would prefer a matching set. Fortunately, the Alton Pkwy Marshalls in Irvine had medium & large pieces matching the carry-on, and we purchased them. Today, we took (1) of the original medium sized pieces with tags still attached back to the South Coast Metro store. Erica/Erika who identified herself as "a manager" asserted that we'd changed the tags, saying that the tags did not match the piece itself. We informed Erica/Erika that the luggage had been sitting in our living room ever since we purchased it last week and the tags were never touched. Further, we told her that the cashier who handled the original purchase, had changed ALL the luggage tags at the time of purchase. Erica/Erika said that the clerk would not have done that. She then informed us that she would not take the luggage back as the tags on it did not match the receipt. Again, we told her that we'd purchased (2) medium bags for $69.99/ea and (1) carry-on for $59.99 - as indicated on the receipt. She shook her head, saying the medium piece we were returning was the $59.99 one. The urge to scream BS!! was overwhelming. We told Erica/Erika that we wanted our $69.99 plus tax back. She said she'd refund only $59.99. We told her that this was completely unacceptable as that was the price for the carry-on that we'd kept. She disagreed. We took the insufficient refund and told her that we'd be reporting her and her store to Marshalls Corporate. Marshalls Corporate: wake up! read more

This is the cleanest and largest of all Marshalls I've been to. They also have a larger variety of brands, sizes, and styles. They even have a "big n tall" section for both men and women, which is convenient for my man and I. It's also a little more organized than the other locations, it makes it easier to find things. read more

So I came to the Marshalls at 901 S Coast Dr., Costa Mesa, 92626 three days ago and purchased this sweater for $14. However, only 3 days later, I notice that it's collected a ton of lint, and the pocket threading has already started ripping a lot on the side without me even using the pocket. When I tried to return it, the manager said that it was "unwearable" and "unsellable" to the next customer, so he couldn't accept it as a return. I was confused because the receipt said that every item is eligible for a 30 day return. What the receipt doesn't say is that it has to be in "wearable" condition. Only their website says that. So not only did I get screwed over for $14 (which I'm happy it wasn't more), the fact that the sweater captured lint is what kept me from even getting a return for an issue that was clearly their fault since the sweater was defective. Don't shop here if you want some clothes that are in good condition for a decent price. Or else you'll waste gas getting here only for them to tell you that lint makes an item "unwearable" as if washing machines don't exist. Go to Ross or something instead, spend your money somewhere else read more

This Marshall's is one of the nicer ones in my opinion. They have a good selection of shoes and home goods. It's hit and miss with the clothes, and usually the men's selection is better than the women's. Stuff is a little disorganized, as is the case with most discount stores. A few times I've found nice Nike running clothes, and one time they had a bunch of Michael Stars tops. If I'm in the neighborhood and have some spare time, I'll go in and see what they have. The beotch at the register was ringing me up and then I changed my mind on one of the items and asked to take it off and she straight up said it's too late or something like that. Then she just said thank you have a nice day like she had to or something. Total bitch!! She had a nasty way of saying that too. I'm not a confrontational type that goes off in stores so I let it go and went down to the register 1 that handles returns. I was a loyal customer to this location, but no more. This place used to have decent customer service, but now, it's flat out rude! In this age of technology, they should be able to complete a transaction using ecard/gift card. Apparently, the manager didn't even know how, nor did she care to learn it. Instead, the cashier and the manager both snorted and smirked, I guess as their defense mechanism for their cognitive inferiority, as I read the instruction on how to complete the transaction ( btw, I have never worked at Marshalls). If I could give this place 0 stars I would. WORST MARSHALLS EVER. I usually come here to find brand name makeup items such as mac, bite beauty, Bobbi brown, etc. and I had came here today and found some makeup forever eyelashes in the safety container but it had no price on the box what so ever. I went to the front of the store to ask the lady how much it was, and she tried to ask her co workers and they weren't sure either. The lady helping me then said they had to call other marshalls to ask and it would take too long since it was a Saturday. Keep in mind, some marshalls don't carry the same items, especially the makeup items. So then the lady continued to ask if I still wanted to buy them, and I said YES. She then walked away and later came back saying the lashes were $19.99, but keep in mind these lashes retail for only $18 originally. I told her the price was $18 so then she came back after talking to her manager and later threw me another price of $16.99. I was so upset not only because I was saving only $1.01 but because I felt like they were just throwing me bullshit prices when in reality they don't even know how much they sell them for. I asked to talk the manager myself and she didn't even bring he/she out to talk to me. The lady made it seem like I was giving her a hard time when I'm just trying to purchase the item but it's not my fault they put an item on the floor without even putting a price on it.
