My husband bought part of a suit and another Macy's. So we went to this Macy's to see if they had a better selection which they did. Ian was so helpful. We ended up getting a dark gray suit versus a black. Also, my husband wanted a pair of pants and they didn't have a size so Ian said don't worry about it. I'll order it for you. He was extremely helpful and everything was on sale for 50% off, which was another good thing. My husband doesn't shop very much to buy a suit and two pairs of pants is a big deal. Macy's at the South Coast Plaza is a large store. Women's dress department is spread over a large area. There were not too many helpers here but I found a few of items in the smart casual department. The people in the women's shoe department are quite not helpful. I think they were super busy with a long lines to waited to need help. But there were lots of choices and prices were reasonable. The perfume store was good, the lovely lady was helpful. I bought a skincare online their also sent me the wrong item I think with such a busy holiday they need to hire more people whether it's online or in store they really need to hire more people to make it easier for people to shop read more

My favorite department store of them all. There's something for everyone, whether you're a baby, a young teen, a college kid, a young mom, or older. The South Coast Plaza mall location has this store completely dedicated to woman, then another store further down in this same mall for men, and then another separate store across the bridge for home items. They also recently put a Wretzels Pretzels station inside the main Macy's on the first floor by the shoes. If you shop here regular, or even just once or twice a year, it really pays to get the Macys credit card. I've had credit here since my early college years. You get points for every purchase and birthday deals. They also always have sales going on throughout the year. The big sale days are during the holidays, but they also have random Flash sales and One Day sales that will give you 25%, 50% and even up to 65% off on select items. Once they email about the sale though, you need to shop fast or lots of sizes will be sold out by the evening. Sometimes it'll be an online only sale, and other times it'll be both in-store and online. The app is really the best way to make your purchases. You can choose to have your order delivered to you, or sent to one of their locations. And for returns you have 30 days to either mail them back, or take them to the store. They make everything so easy no matter how you prefer to shop. read more

I've been a long time shopper of Macy's as they always have the best deals when it comes to shopping at a large department store. They have a last act section where you can really score some good deals and you don't need coupons. The personnel are always friendly and helpful. What I enjoy at Macy are the special events they have throughout the year to celebrate the various holidays. I happened upon the Lunar New Year celebration today so was treated to a Lion Dance and a Vietnamese dance as well. Clé de Peau has long been one of my favorite skincare brands, but I had never tried their foundation before. After reading so many glowing reviews about their cushion foundation, I wanted to give it a try. The sales associate greeted me with a warm smile and introduced me to their beauty advisor: an older Asian woman with absolutely stunning skin. The moment I saw her flawless complexion, I thought to myself, Wow, I'm in good hands. She definitely seemed like someone I could trust for great advice. Clé de Peau cushion foundation has very limited shades--only about six--and it was clear the undertones weren't quite right for me. The lighter shades have a pink base that makes you look like a porcelain doll, while the fair-to-medium ones lean far too yellow. Despite this, she kept pushing the yellow-based foundation on me, which made me look visibly unwell--so yellow that I joked it looked like I'd just come out of a hospital. Even after I pointed it out, she insisted it was the right shade for me and tested it on the back of my hand, saying, "See? It matches." Seriously? Everyone knows foundation shouldn't be color-matched on the back of the hand. I couldn't help but wonder--was she new at this, or was she deliberately trying to mislead customers? I realized she seemed more focused on making a sale than helping me find the right product. I asked her to remove the three different shades she had applied to my face. Once she understood I wasn't going to buy the foundation, she just handed me a single cotton pad and told me to remove it myself. She first offered me a toner to remove the foundation, but it didn't work at all--it was just a basic lotion. Even after going through eight cotton pads, the results were minimal. Eventually, she brought over an eye and lip makeup remover. When I mentioned I could smell the alcohol and reminded her that my skin is sensitive, she insisted, "All makeup removers have alcohol," which is simply incorrect. At that point, it was clear she wasn't trying to help--it felt like she just wanted to get rid of me, treating me as if I were an uninformed customer. Unfortunately, I had another appointment and didn't have much choice but to use the remover, even though my skin reacts poorly to alcohol. Afterward, she handed me a cream, pointing out that it was "very expensive." I replied bluntly: price doesn't matter--if a product doesn't suit your skin or damages your skin barrier, it simply isn't good skincare for you. I still thanked her out of politeness, and she gave me a lukewarm smile in return without saying anything--so rude. Now I'm starting to think her face looks luminous because she used all the products on herself and took the time to perfect her own look. That's probably what she does at the Macy's beauty counter--making herself look flawless while being unprofessional with customers. The whole experience felt dismissive and unprofessional. read more

My Personal Experience!!!! I never write negative reviews. But today, I really feel compelled to do so! This concerns my own negative experience interacting with a sales associate named Zaira. She works in the Dior cosmetics department. I went in to buy a concealer. I was unfamiliar with the brand and had never purchased any of its products before. I asked her to recommend a suitable shade for me, and she helped me find one. I noticed that they offered complimentary makeup application services, so I asked if I could take advantage of that service. She replied that she would need to check. After verifying the details, she found an excellent makeup artist for me. He applied a very light makeup look, taking all my preferences fully into account. Afterward, I told her that I wanted to purchase the specific concealer that both she and the makeup artist had recommended to me. I walked over to the register, at which point she announced that the concealer was out of stock--though they could order it for me, and it would arrive in 3 to 5 days. I replied that this option didn't work for me and that I would buy it elsewhere, as I needed it right away. However, so as not to appear rude, I decided to purchase a blush instead. At that moment, the sales associate's face betrayed extreme displeasure with me, and she said: "You know what?! He spent his time on you, yet you refuse to buy the very concealer I'm willing to order for you!" I replied: "But I *did* buy an item; you simply don't have the other one in stock." She simply turned away from me without saying another word and literally *threw* the shopping bag containing my purchase right at my face. This was utterly unprofessional and disrespectful. I would not recommend seeking her assistance to anyone. The look on her face and her entire attitude spoke volumes. The level of customer service is absolutely abysmal. I intend to return the item I purchased and buy it somewhere else!!! read more

My sons wedding is in June and he planed to gift me with a credit card for any store I chose to purchase a few gowns for certain planed events. I went there ahead of time to check out what they had and they didn't have much. I spent three days this week trying on dresses. I had a couple chosen to purchase later and I got a couple myself bc I feel it's rude to shop and not buy anything . Every time I tried things on I purchased a dress or blouse . I'm saying this I guess to defend myself bc tonight I notice two Latina ladies that I remembered from previously this week. Two nights in a row this week they came into the dressing rooms right next to mine. When the whole area was vacant. A day ago I thought nothing of it but tonight it was easy to see they had some sort of agenda. They were clearly obvious about the idea that I was there to shop lift. lol! I'm laughing now but it's really not a joke when it is happening to you. Tonight I brought my dress up to buy it and the Latina lady was in an obvious way whispering to the manager pointing at me as they both were starring at me . So bad! I really now regret the time I waisted there and even the things I purchased especially tonight . I should have taken that dress and thrown it at them! I really wish they would have checked my bag so I could formally complain. It was very rude and unnecessary . I'll never go back there again! If you want to be victimized and get your self esteem knocked down a few notches head over to Macy"s ! They'll go out of their way to make you feel like a dirt bag shop lifter! Horrible! I received a $500 henkels knife set from here from my wedding registry that didn't even last us 3 years! The tips of the knives all snapped off into our food! CHEAP!! HORRIBLE!! Not to mention a huge liability on their end!! I called customer service and they told me I would have to return in the store, but I could still return it even though it was a wedding gift from 2022! I said are you sure?? She said "yes of course if the knives broke" so I dragged the heavy knife set to Macy's to return them and the manager Robert had no care in the world about what had happened and did nothing to help us. Their customer service and him had told me two different things!! This review is for the men's fragrance section specifically. It is severely understaffed and the associates are rude. Not once was I acknowledged or greeted in the 10 minutes I stood waiting by the men's fragrance counter. When I approached a sales associate to request assistance, she quickly dismissed me and said she was busy helping someone else and asked me to continue waiting. Hello? I had already been waiting for 10 minutes. The entire time I was waiting, I heard another associate just talking about where she went to high school with another customer - no sale in progress. It seems certain associates would rather flirt with potential customers rather than assist those ready to make a purchase. Finally, another associate came over to assist me and attempted to place an order in the system that would be delivered to me by Christmas Eve. As he was in the process of ringing me up and entering my shipment details, the item literally sold out and he had to cancel the transaction. This could have all been avoided had someone promptly assisted me when I arrived (with better staffing on schedule), or even the moment I spoke up requesting service after waiting 10 minutes. Extremely disappointed in the lack of decent customer service here. Do better, Macy's Men. read more

Only thing missing -- when i couldn't get one thing I wanted, no one mentioned - "Let's find it for you at another store." Der. Since it was an in-store purchase the chat rep refused to do an online adjustment and the phone rep said, "I can't adjust the price because you used American Express." Very bad customer experience today. Came in for the Memorial Day Sale and found a product I loved on Sale. When I brought it up to the register, the Sales Associate said the sticker Sale price was incorrect and not matching the system and that another customer probably "swapped" out the stickers and they would not honor the price on the sticker. Highly doubt this because the sticker looked very stuck on and not tampered with. Sounds to me like an employee messed up the tagging or it was incorrect with their system. Very disappointed that they wouldn't honor the price as advertised on the sticker. The employees need to be more thorough when tagging the products! Management please do better! read more

Beauty (Estee' Lauder) - Went there to buy a $75 cream. The sales rep said she did not have any samples. Not true. I saw another sales rep opening a drawer full of little samples. I was shopping with my mother we were in the women's department and two associates who were putting away things refused to help. They said it wasn't their area. I have been coming to this Macy's for all my menswear needs for the past two years- and it's due to the customer service I consistently receive from Daniel Nila. Whether it's a suit, a shirt, shoes, or a belt- I don't buy anything without going through him. I even call ahead to ensure he's working before I come to the store. Daniel's customer service, patience, and willingness to go the extra mile are above and beyond what I'd expect from a big department store. Two examples (out of many) stand out in my mind. Firstly, when a family member passed away earlier this year and I was in need of a suit on short notice- I reached out to Daniel and he both found the exact suit/size I needed while also ensuring the Macys tailor would be available and able to make the necessary alterations in time. His service and compassion were so appreciated during that difficult time. Most recently- I needed shoes, a shirt, and a belt for the wedding of my closest friend. The last minute wedding and my work schedule meant time was tight for me to get what I needed. I reached out to Daniel with the colors I needed and he picked out some great looking pieces and held them for me until I was able to come by. He even stayed late after the end of his shift to make sure I was taken care of and that everything fit perfectly. Even though I have moved out of Orange County- I still come back to this specific Macys because I know I will receive great customer service and style advice from Daniel. read more

This review is specifically for the men's suit department. In the past, I've bought all my suits from this Macy's for law school and job interviews because they've got the brand names at good prices. Relying on that historical experience, I bought a new suit for my sister's wedding and had it tailored by the South Coast Macy's as I've done in the past. Cut to the week of my sister's wedding when I go to pick up my tailored suit and now the suit jacket doesn't even fit properly at my shoulders when I had purposefully selected a bigger size that gave me ample shoulder space. I have no idea what the tailor did during the alterations, but I'm now left with a useless suit that won't fit properly, I'm out 400 bucks for the suit and alterations, and it's 4 days before my sister's wedding. This tailor is clutch for Macy's if they're trying to get you to buy another suit there. Thank god for the Men's Wearhouse across the street because they bailed me out with a new suit that actually fits properly and expedited the alterations given the short timeline and circumstances. Avoid this Macy's for suits and more importantly, avoid their tailor. Never again for me. read more

My family and I have purchased so many things from Macy's over the years, including many pairs of sunglasses, and we've recommended Macy's to so many people because we trusted the brand. That's why this experience at Macy's South Coast Plaza was unbelievably disappointing. I bought sunglasses 5 days ago and the lenses were scratched when I received them. I returned expecting a simple solution for damaged merchandise. Instead, when I asked to speak with a manager, the person I spoke with just said "I am the manager" and shut the conversation down with a rude, dismissive attitude no empathy, no real help, and no willingness to properly escalate or take accountability. If this is how South Coast Plaza Macy's treats customers who have spent a lot of money and supported the store for years, then I can't imagine how they treat everyone else. The shoe inventory is very extensive. Furthermore, the employees working in this section were very helpful and professional. Especially, Salesperson Brandon who was outstanding. I had the most pleasant experience today at Macy's South Coast Plaza. Today is the day before Mother's Day, and I headed to the beauty dept to buy a couple Lancôme products I needed. I also wanted to take advantage of their free gift with purchase. Because of the free gift and the free large, imported fresh roses with fragrance purchase, the Lancôme counter was a frenzy. A sales associate named Debbie approached me amidst the chaos and asked if I needed help. She broke into a warm, friendly smile. I did need help. I asked her where the blushes were and she guided me through the crowds to the blushes. She assured me of the shade I was considering and even suggested I layer it with the current Lancôme blush I already had. I also need the mascara primer and again with a smile she whisked away into the crowd to go get me one. My boyfriend and I met her at the register where she quickly rang me up, again with that genuine smile. This was the easiest, most painless, friendliest service I've ever experienced at any beauty counter, and go figure it was crazy busy!
