Really disappointing experience today. I stopped by Bloomingdale's on a Sunday evening to shop for a dress for a friend's wedding. We couldn't find anyone to help us get into a fitting room, so I used one that was wide open with no sign indicating it was reserved or unavailable. A few minutes later, a personal shopper named Bing came over and told me I had to get out because she needed the room for her clients. What shocked me wasn't that she needed the room, it was that she expected me to leave immediately without even letting me put my own clothes back on. I ended up walking through the store wearing the dress I was trying on while carrying my outfit and bra to another fitting room. It was honestly humiliating. If fitting rooms are reserved for personal shopping, they should be clearly marked or kept closed. And if someone is already inside, the least they deserve is the chance to get dressed before being asked to move. I've always expected better customer service from Bloomingdale's, which made this experience especially disappointing. read more

Who doesn't love BLOOMIES!??! I went to the beauty department to browse EVERYTHING that's beauty!!! I ended up at the Chanel counter, and while they were super busy, I was acknowledged and was told to wait a few minutes. When it was my turn, I ended up purchasing a few lip glosses, with service with a smile. This beauty department is impressive. Everything was displayed so nicely, and most sales associates were friendly and helpful. What a massive selection of products that are known brands and some niche brands, as well. Shoutout to Chelsea from Chanel, for awesome customer service! As for the prices, they were very high, as usual. The store was clean, tidy, and the displays were eye catching! I ended up making a reservation for Anqi bistro inside Bloomingdales at south coast plaza for my birthday at 5 pm. I did get there early. They do have hours where they open and then closed down and reopen at 5. So I couldn't get in early. So, I was forced to go shopping in Bloomingdales lol. It was on my actual birthday. So I wanted to treat myself always. I ended up looking at the shoes and then, Awet Petros approached me. She was extremely helpful. She kept suggesting what was in, what brands she thought I'd look good in and suggesting sizes. This wonderful sales associate was FAST!!! I'd hand her a shoe and she would come back immediately. I ended up with some Gucci loafers and decided to take myself over to the perfume. Awet Petros, said she could also help me over there. I gave her a few brand names I was looking for, and then she completely surprised me with a few suggestions that I fell in LOVE with I ended up walking away with THREE XERJOFF perfume (they came with beautiful silk scarves as well.) The amazing staff here ended up giving me some samples they thought I'd like. Awet Petros quickly learned what notes I loved and didn't love. One of the samples was the limited edition anniversary XERJOFF. Comes in a beautiful bottle and has gold flakes in it. Unfortunately it wasn't in store. Awet, went above and beyond. I sent her a text and asked if she could order it for me. Which, she did. I came in two days later and put in the order. the staff put together some perfume samples for me and that same day I ended up buying the very first perfume, Awet suggested. Which was - blue talisman ex nihilo extrait This location also has a Louis Vuitton perfume area where you can refill your engraved bottle. I already have a date set where I'm coming in to see the amazing Awet again for that and another one I'm interested in. They also told me about an amazing Creed masterclass that they were hosting on Oct 23rd. Bloomingdale's is the worst department store. They have the worst return policy. The employees are super rude and everything is really expensive vs other stores with the same product. I purchased something from the Chanel in Bloomingdale's and it was used when I got home so I came to the store to try to return it with no luck. I had to come back three times because the store was always closed. One time I was in the store, but they still couldn't return it cause they told me that the registers already closed right before I got there, even though I was in the store . When I finally was able to return my item, they said I could only get store credit. They sold me a previously used item but wouldn't let return it. Crazy! The employees at every makeup counter here are very snooty and rude. They're not friendly. They don't smile and they seem very entitled or something. It's very odd when we are the customers spending money paying their paychecks. The employees all need to go to hospitality training to learn how to smile and be a good sales associate. I am extremely disappointed by the treatment I received at the Chanel beauty counter inside Bloomingdale's, South Coast Plaza. My elderly mother had received a product as a birthday gift, and I went alone to return it since she had an allergic reaction to a sample included. My mother, who is 74, was waiting in the car. When I approached the counter, the associate, treated me with suspicion, implying I was returning a used product dishonestly, rather than listening to a genuine health concern. When I tried to speak with the counter manager, she completely ignored me, refused to hear me out, and was extremely dismissive. It is clear that unless you are purchasing something, the attitude changes drastically--when you need after-sales service, respect disappears. This experience left my mother feeling deeply hurt, even though she was not physically present, and I am appalled by the lack of empathy. Their attention and willingness to resolve the issue made a significant difference. In another situation, an associate incorrectly processed a return as "no proof of purchase," even though I had valid proof. This could have prevented the refund from being credited to my account any time soon. Aaron and Lyndsay took the time to speak with customer service--who had been unhelpful--and worked to correct the issue on their end. Additionally, when another associate told me that the amount from returned gifts could not be placed on store credit because they were purchased with loyalty points, Aaron clarified the policy and ensured that the full amount was issued to me as store credit. We went in to buy a cologne for our host in Vegas, and the sales associate named Karen approached us. She immediately tried to sell us some odd collagen product, and even after we told her we weren't interested, she kept pushing. We mentioned that we just wanted to look around and smell different colognes, but she literally followed us around the store, being overly aggressive and trying to force a sale. I felt so overwhelmed and pressured that I ended up buying something just to get her to leave us alone. I never write bad reviews, but this experience made me extremely uncomfortable and uneasy. Be aware of an older female employee who tries to trick the customers into getting her commission. Went to Louis Vuitton and purchased a bag. As we were walking out, she approached us and asked me if paid with our Bloomingdale's credit card and we said no, because we do not have one. Decided to apply for one and after we got approved, the lady said, "let's go back to the registry and we can give you points for the Louis Vuitton purse." Sureeeeeee. As we got to the registry there was a huge miscommunication from this employee. She RETURNED the bag and then charged us again on the other card, and she took the other employee's commission. I enjoy shopping here for niche fragrances. I went in to purchase Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrances to add to my collection this past Saturday and a few weeks back. When I went in a few weeks back the guy at the MFK counter named Zee I believe when I went in to check out the MFK fragrances did not greet me and just stood there watching me which made me feel uncomfortable so I walked away and found Missy to help me and she was nice. No matter what you need to smell the fragrances before purchasing and I have purchased about 4 other bottles from this counter prior and I saw this guy was there also. Fast forward to when I returned back this past Saturday to purchase 2 MFK fragrances that I wanted to add to my collection. Missy took me to the counter and the same guy was there finishing up a sale. He gave the person a mini candle, small box with 2 travel Baccarat 540 fragrances, and other item so I asked Missy if they can give me any nice gifts since i was purchasing 2 fragrances that were pricey. She asked him and he rudely refused right in front of me. She told him I purchased a couple of fragrances prior and he said well you should have given her something before or something along those lines and proceeded to absolutely refuse to give any gifts which made no sense to me and kept saying things to her. He made me feel very uncomfortable and made me feel as if i wasn't good enough to be there or purchase the fragrances and this disgusted me. He stood at the other end of the counter and spoke to his other associates in an asian dialect and never bothered to explain why he refused to give me any gifts and never bothered to apologize for his actions. He felt pressured so he gave a small travel size and I told them he can have it back because I was upset at this point. I wanted to walk away and not purchase but Missy said she was sorry and didnt want to make a scene since she did not want me to notice his behavior, but i was watching him the whole time since he acted like a fool in front of me. I am disappointed to see that I was treated this way and feel that Blooingdales should be thankful to have loyal clients that come into the store and purchase from them. This mans behavior was extremely unprofessional and he should be reprimanded for the way he treated me. I may think twice about driving over an hour to visit this store in the future because the way I was treated by this worker is unacceptable. He was also snarky with the associate and did not want to help her find the fragrance in his cabinets. I was told the department manager would reach out to me and have yet to hear back. read more

I was just in here today 6/25/25 with my mom and we were looking at jewelry and a very rude, tall blonde lady who works in the jewelry department named Serena was following my mom up and down the aisle acting and looking at here as she were a thief or trying to rob the store. My mom has style, class, compassion, kindness who is beautiful and in her seventies, which no one can believe. Plus she has a limp, she was not carrying a bag or wearing a large coat or had any shopping bags with her. We've been huge loyal customers buying so much and spending so much for over twenty years and this is how we're treated as robbers?! I don't think so. What if we were someone undercover? Or how do they know who I am or who my mom is? Or where we live? Who we know? It makes me disgusted by the treatment my mom especially received by Serena today. No one should ever be followed and for Serena to not even ask my mom if she needed help or if she was looking for something right there goes against customer service 101. Plus everything is in a case locked up. We aren't even treated like this at Swarovski where they have everything on display in the open to look and to try on without any problems. On Sunday 8/11/24 my husband and I decided to get our steps in by walking South Coast Plaza. I was dressed casually but Lululemon clothes and my husband was wearing a shirt he should probably donate and shorts. But heck, we weren't going to buy but to walk. This is a lesson in not judging a book by the cover... We own a number of McKenzie Child pieces as well as Baccarat Crystal that we purchased in Paris so when we rounded the Bloomingdales Home area, we decided to look at both inside the store since we were right there. Immediately a salesperson asked if we needed help and I smiled, looked her right in the eye and replied that we were just browsing. She stayed right with us and when we walked from McKenzie Child to the crystal area, she stayed just inches from us. My husband who is MUCH more easy going than I am said "Gees, we are being stalked!!" Indeed we were. We zigged and zagged and she remained inches from us; it was a horrible experience. Because my husband was in shorts or ???? Finally we quickly turned and turned in a circle so we lost her but had that not happened I was going to go directly to the manager.
