Ahhh this location is very nice and welcoming. I love coming to this location due to the accessibility and the customer service. I visit this location mainly for the perfume and the purse boutiques. I have been a customer of Bloomingdale's for well over twenty years. I started shopping at Bloomingdale's after I graduated from law school and was in need of a professional wardrobe. I have lived in Washington, DC and Chicago, and very much enjoyed shopping at the Bloomingdale's stores in those two areas. I also looked forward to my visits to Manhattan which, if time allowed, would end with a wonderful visit to the flagship store. I have easily spent tens of thousands of dollars at Bloomingdale's over the years. I have now lived in Southern California for a few years, and this Bloomingdale's customer service leaves much to be desired. About a year ago, I ordered some shoes online and then returned them shortly thereafter. I didn't like them. The employee examined these shoes, and me, as if I had stolen them. He finally accepted them for return. Yesterday, I returned a jacket that did not fit. I had also ordered this jacket online. I asked a gentleman in the men's department to help me with the return. He was standing around and not busy. He directed me to customer service. I asked him why he could not help. He huffed, went over to his register, and again interrogated me as to why I was returning the piece of clothing. It was not a pleasant experience. I actually thought that my experiences were due to being a black man. Some of that is probably mixed into my experience. However, from what other people have said, this Bloomingdale's generally has a horrible customer service problem. Most people who shop at this mall can likely afford to go to any merchant they choose. Skip the headache and go to Nordstrom, or any of the higher end stores in that mall. read more

I love Bloomingdale's for the exceptional service and premium quality products. They are located at South Coast Plaza adjacent to Capital Grille and Seasons 52. The interior of this store is immaculate since it's one of the high end retailers at this shopping mall. As soon as you walk into the store, you are greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff. I usually shop here for shoes and handbags. You can find brands such as Saint Laurent, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Valentino and many others. My recent purchase was a pair of bridal shoes for my upcoming wedding. I viewed the options on their website and made the purchase online. I opted for curbside pickup which was fast and convenient. All you need to do is pull up into one of the designated parking spaces and call the phone number as posted. The shopping experience during COVID is safe and contactless. My favorite Bloomingdale's in Cali. I love the set up and every time I come here, I always leave with something new...even when I wasn't even planning on getting anything haha. All departments have great selections and it's always nice and clean when I come here compared to other ones I've been to. Definitely one of the bigger ones too! They have both a Louis Vuitton and Gucci boutique in here and also sell tons of designer items in shoes, clothing, beauty etc. I was surprised at how good the selection was at both designer boutiques even though they are much smaller than the actual boutique inside the mall. I got really lucky with my last purchases at both LV and Gucci that are new and hard to find and I wouldn't have expected getting them from here! Even more, you get points for Bloomingdale's rewards even on these purchases which is awesome!! Parking is an open all around the mall so even when it's crowded, you'll find a space with a far walk. I wish they allowed dogs at this mall. I see people get away with little dogs but I have a Doberman and I always wished I could take her here. Maybe they'll allow big dogs one day. read more

Bloomingdale's is a higher end sister store owned by Macy's. This is a nice store located at South Coast Plaza, a well-known shopping destination in Costa Mesa. I've never had any major problems here, although the customer service is not the best. They have better quality items here, but Macy's associates provide much better service. I didn't want to deal with the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, so I placed an order for a Longchamp bag/purse (I've been meaning to get this bag for months and keep forgetting about it lol). I didn't pay attention to my email instructions to head over to their Customer Service desk, so I ended up going to Handbags and was redirected to Customer Service on the 1st floor. However, if you can't give me directions to where I need to go, don't act like you know and send me the wrong way... which is what the sales associate did. I ended up going to the Gift Wrap area on the 1st floor, and Customer Service was right outside there. One of the associates there was nice enough to walk me to the Customer Service desk, which helped redeem their level of service and I was able to pick up the Longchamp bag quickly. This review is for Ted Baker store inside Bloomingdales in SC plaza. I tried to return two clothes that I received as Xmas gifts that were purchased 2 weeks ago. I brought to the store the receipt and the brand new clothes that were only tried on once. The female store representative refused to issue refund or credits because the tags were removed. Keep in mind that the 2 brand new shirts are in total of $350 with receipt available! The representative said "how do I know if you wore them only once? I can't verify it. Without tags they are not brand new to me." I asked if she can call Ted Baker's main office with me to confirm this unreasonable policy. Her response was "I'm the store manager so I'm the one making decision here." What a rude arrogant attitude and nonsense policy! $350 were spent for 2 shirts that I can't wear. I was not even issued with a store credit. Ted Baker should replace their store manager in Bloomingdales located in SC plaza. Unless it's just the manager's discrimination against me, I can't imagine how many customers were suffered from this policy and the attitude from this "store manager". I bought a pair of shoes last week, i tried to wear it to work for 5 minutes and had to go back to my car to change my shoes because my feet started to hurt. I decided to return the shoes today, not knowing the return policy. This guy named Brian, a white, tall guy who was so energetic and helpful when i bought the shoes last week, but today when i returned it he was a completely different person. He was so rude, tapping so loud on his keyboard to show me how mad he was, mumbling stuff that i can barely hear. The only thing i understood was they usually dont take used shoes, and if i want to get another pair instead, but he didn't even gave me a chance to think if i want another pair, he just mumbled infront of me. I am ok to cancel the return if he only spoke to me nicely. But he was just so mad about my return, and just left me by the counter. I didn't even know if the transaction was done or what. I wish I could give this review no stars. I went in to return a few wedding gifts that I had received with my gift receipts. Everything was still in the box, tagged, never worn. It was a long shot considering the receipt was from the beginning of the year but we had a lot happen this year and I figured it was worth a shot. The sales associate was very professional and accommodating but the return was more complex and understandably needed to call his manager. He even asked her if he should send us downstairs and, though i'm not sure why she didn't just say yes to begin with, she came over to see us. She opened the box, looked at the receipt, and was talking to us like we were so dumb and couldn't even comprehend why we would even try to return it. We were very transparent with the situation and she made us feel like we were trying to pull something over on them or be shady - just not kind at all, told us there was absolutely nothing we could do about it... but here's a bag. We ended up walking directly downstairs just to see what else could be done and we explained everything again and the sales associate downstairs was very kind and she said she would look into options despite the fact the return was beyond the window. She told us that if the items are still being sold in stores/online and they are in brand new condition, they would be acceptable for return. The manager NEVER even tried to explain any of that to us. We were able to return the items and walked out with almost $300 in a gift card. Save your time and don't even attempt to work with the manager in the women's department. Just go directly downstairs where the service is night and day and the people are more pleasant to speak with and be around. read more

I realize I never wrote an update after I eventually went in to use the $100 gift card I was given for my previous bad sopping experience in the women's fashion department. As promised, Kirsten Talbert met with me and was my personal shopper. I needed a casual dress for an upcoming wedding on the beach in Santa Barbara so she helped me look for one that would work. Kirsten was personable, friendly and patient as we shopped. Bloomingdale's was even having a sale at the time and Kirsten managed to find me the perfect dress for the upcoming wedding in my size and just for $40! My husband was also with us and he loves to shop and pick things out for me and he found a beautiful peach, silk blouse that also fit me perfectly. My total came to $96 and change! Perfect! This shopping trip was completely different than all my previous experiences at Bloomingdale's and I must thank Kirsten Talbert for putting in so much effort to keep me as a customer. It worked! I needed a new suit in less than a week for a friend's wedding (my fault). I figured I would get something nice, so I went to Bloomingdale's on a Sunday and spoke with a suit salesman. He picked out a suit in my price range with a good color, but the fit was a bit odd; naturally he offered to have it altered in-house. I asked if I could pay to have the alteration expedited since the wedding was the following Sunday; he said that would not be necessary, as they could have it done by Friday. The tailor came by and again I asked if I could have the alteration expedited, but the tailor also said that would not be necessary as the could have it done by Friday. Friday afternoon rolls around, and I hadn't heard from Bloomingdale's, so I called the number on my salesman's card, and it's apparently his personal number, so he was a little confused that I was calling. I asked if the suit was ready, and he said it would be ready by Saturday at 4pm. Hmm. Saturday, 4PM: no call from Bloomingdale's. I called the store, followed the phone tree to "Orders" and reached an operator. She was confused, and said I had reached the section for returns, so she would forward me to men's suits. A few seconds later I was disconnected. Cool. Saturday, 4:30PM I called my salesman's number again. He said he thinks the suit is ready, and a few minutes later he texted me that it's ready for pickup. So I drive half an hour to South Coast and get the suit; I try it on, and it looks weird. I thought it might be the store lights/mirror, and figured if I hate it, I'll wear something else and return this later. I didn't have time to spare for another alteration. I made sure to check my receipt to see if it says "no returns," but the receipt said I have 90 days to return anything unless otherwise marked. Nothing on my receipt was labeled as non-returnable, so I drive to South Coast again, ask to return the suit, unworn with all its original tags, and receipt in hand. The manager then pulls up the Bloomingdale's website and says, "See, here it says you can't return anything that's been altered." I offered to pay to have it re-altered back to factory specs. Nope. No returns. Even though the receipt says I can return it, no returns. Enjoy the $500 Bloomingdale's, that's the last money I'll give you for the rest of my life. read more

I posted a review 4 years ago explaining how Bloomingdale's was going down hill, hoping that it was only temporary and things would turn around. Nope. It's getting worse and worse. The store is circling the drain. The staff here are now extremely rude, unknowledgeable, and can't be bothered to help customers. They'd rather stand in groups and show each other Tik Toks on their phones. I think that the next time I step foot in here will be when they have their liquidation sale before they close their doors. I'm of the opinion that would be within the next 5 years (Macy's balance sheet isn't looking too good). It's sad but I guess that's the way things are now. My wife and I are loyal customers of Bloomingdales and have usually experienced excellent customer service. However today was a much different experience. My wife ordered shoes online and after receiving them and trying them on once at home, she said they were too small and hurt her feet. However she loved the design and wanted a bigger size. After waiting a few weeks for the shoe to come back in stock in a bigger size, she decided to buy them online at Zappos instead of waiting longer for Bloomingdales to get them back in stock. We finally received the same shoe in a larger size today and so I went to return the shoes at the South Coast Plaza Bloomingdales location. I returned them at the women's shoe counter and the employee accused me and my wife of returning used, already worn shoes. And so I explained to him what happened, and he said that he will give me a one-time courtesy this time because they normally don't take back used shoes. I also spoke to the store general manager Steven and explained that I just got accused of returning used shoes even though that's how we received them. I asked to file a complaint because I was sent used shoes. He then said there's nothing he can do about the situation. I asked again if there's anything he can do for falsely accusing a loyal customer of fraud, and he said no. I called customer service to file a complaint and they offered me a $50 gift card but then I requested some follow up on the situation. They said to email customer service if I want some follow up. The manager talked really rudely to me as if I were guilty of doing something wrong, and both my wife and I are feeling very upset. I am now waiting to be contacted by management. read more

I love this Bloomingdale's location. I shop here all the time. However, today I was shopping in women's clothing and had a terrible experience with one of the sales associates, Dalya. My initial interaction with her was pleasant. She offered to start a fitting room for me and checked in every so often. But when it was time to check out, I felt like she had become an entirely different person! She was short with me, snapping and sighing and making rude comments along the way.I didn't have a complicated transaction and I didn't return anything. I felt so uncomfortable and diminished. Okay so this review is for the store and NOT the online pickup method of this store. I ordered an item online (worth literally only $30) and expected to pick it up same day. Went to check my email after a few hours and lo and behold I have to "call customer service" to "verify my order"???? A $30 purchase needs to be verified? Whatever I'll do it. Call customer service and give all the info they already had to "confirm" and by the end of the call they say that the order has been canceled due to the item being out of stock. What? She placed me on hold a few times while she went to find and confirm that she had the right item but as soon as she found it she grabbed a few variations of it and held it at register for me to choose when I arrived. I felt so out of place here. It was my first time ever being inside a Bloomingdale's store. I always shop online. I had purchased a pair of Burberry shoes I was going to return because they did not fit. Also they arrived worn and unlaces all messy. They could have at least tightened up the laces and made it look more presentable, most likely the floor model as they were creased in the heel area. I didn't mind too much at first because I got them for a great deal. But one they didn't even fit I had to just return them. Well long story short I went to the store to return in person, it's much faster that way. I was getting mean looks from just about all the workers, I walked around the entire floor lost not able to find a cash register to do my return. Not a single employee offered to help. I finally was able to find a map showing what's on the different levels. I went downstairs to the customer service area. Once again getting glared at by an employee and ignored like I wasn't even in line. She had just finished with another person and I was next and she took a look at me and just proceeded to do other stuff and walked away to hide in the back. The lady that ended up helping me was really nice and very respectful, I asked if she was the manager. I had a feeling she was because of her professionalism. I work in a medical field and deal with patients all day. Customer service is very important. I treat everyone equally. The manager is the only reason I'm not giving it 1 star. I'm not gonna lie and say I won't ever shop their again lol I love their website and will just continue to buy online. read more

In the makeup department the lady named Hala, she gave me amazing service! She works in the Channel makeup section and took the time to help me find my foundation color and Dewey contour. She was very patient with my mother and I! Also, allowed me to try out different color contours on my skin and was very gentle! Her makeup was so pretty! I just want to give a big shout out to Rose in the Women's Shoe department for helping me out. I had to pick up a pair of jeans that I needed to get altered and customer service upstairs kind of bummed me out. I had called ahead to see if they were ready and the lady over the phone said they were and I could come in and pick up. So I went over to the jean section and let one of the associates know I was here to pick up jeans and handed her my ticket. I even said after handing her the ticket that I called ahead to check if they were ready. As she walks away she stops and points at the date of pick up and looks at me. Smh. I explained again I called and the alteration department said they were ready. She went to grab the jeans and handed them to me and asked me if I wanted them to be bagged. I said no thanks I need to try them on first.. and then she walks away. Anyway I tried them on and they fit great, I asked another associate to bag it and I made my way downstairs to check out some shoes. I was looking at a pair of Stuart Weitzman and Rose helped me out right away, she even pulled out a pair of Jimmy Choos that were similar and gave me her input. She was super sweet and I didn't feel pressured into making a purchase. We chatted and I let her know I was going to Oahu in a week and needed a nice pair of heels. I run out of my facial cream so I stopped by Bloomingdales to buy it, people at La Mer are very nice and always give me free samples. This time the salesman who took care of me was extraordinarily fantastic when I told him that I was getting ready for a trip , he not only gave free samples but also a cute bag so I could put my samples inside and take them on my carry-on. Definitely an Upgrade. The store is always fashionable. However, this last year I have had the best fashion associates ever. They are completely different from the other sales people that I have encountered here who are pushy and just want to "hold" your items for you. They probably get commission. However, Kudos to Sales Professionals Brianna Carey and Raun Lauderdale! These folks are incredible and go over and beyond to help you leaving the store more fashionable than you were the day before! These two are exceptional. They figure out your style and make very constructive suggestions. They keep you apprised of sales and even keep newer items in mind for your next visit. Raun is terrific and I had to post a picture of how he arranged my dressing room for me...nice, clean and well organized. Another Highlight is the "loyalist" program. They give you points and send you gift cards! They also give you free chocolate bars! Bloomies!!! I am such a fan. PSA: Horrible return policy. Their loyalist program is a huge scam. If you get any bonus gift cards and points and you decide to return your items, they first deduct your points you earned on the purchase. But instead of cancelling the gift card (like what Kohl's does), they deduct the gift card amount from your return price! Here's the other kicker: if you are carrying a negative balance on your loyalist account (this happens if you returned an item with a bonus gift card. Bloomingdales deducts the gift card value in loyalist points on your account), they deduct the gift card amount and points value in money from your purchase since they can't make your account more negative! If you're not sure if you're going to return something or it's a gift, don't use your loyalist account! P.S. This happened to me. Fortunately, it wasn't a huge amount, but the manager said I was S.O.L. and couldn't do anything (yeah right...). They had me talk to a loyalist supervisor over the phone who asked for my social security number, DOB, and address (HELL NO! I don't have a Bloomingdale's card with them and the loyalist membership doesn't require your social). Don't tout you got a great return policy when you punish your customers for returning your 3000% marked up merchandise. read more

While I don't shop at Bloomingdales often, I do pop in from time to time for Nespresso. The staff at the counter is super nice and friendly. I've never had a bad experience. The rest of the store is kept clean and it is easy to maneuver. I've been in the LV and Chanel (RIP) boutiques in the past. If I needed help, it was there but it was never pushy. It helps if you don't look like a schlub but not a requirement to be dressed to the nines. Be ready to fork over a large chunk of your paycheck as the prices are higher than average.
