I asked to see a pair of pearl earrings. Mind you, I walked in with sloppy hair, wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. When I asked to see the pair of pearls with diamonds, she advised--using a particular tone--that they would be more expensive. I think it is obvious to anyone that pearl earrings with diamonds cost more, so it felt as though she assumed I did not have the ability to make the purchase based on my appearance. I replied that this was fine and that I still wanted to see them. I asked her what the total carat weight was. She looked it up on her tablet but was unable to provide the information. I told her I did not want to purchase lab-grown diamonds. She then tried to convince me that laboratory diamonds are the same as natural diamonds. I explained that my friend is a jewelry expert and had told me they are not the same, and that price also distinguishes them. She insisted they were the same. I asked her if she was an expert with diamonds and she replied, "that's how we were trained". I then asked if, after making a diamond purchase, I took the earrings to an expert and was told the diamonds were not natural, would I be able to get my money back. I came in today to do an online return. I went to the register and the associate was chatting with her coworker which is okay as long as they're doing their jobs. She kept talking and being distracted. I told her "Hello I gave a return ". She didn't respond and then Kept telling me to sign up for the credit card and the points program which was wierd to me. She then told me to insert my card and then she put my return on a bag and gave it back to me. I told her again that this was a return because I was so confused why she handed it back to me. So I ended up being charged 2 times for the item I was trying to return!!! She didn't apologize and I told her I did mention it was a return since the start. Thomas, the only manager, according to himself, was working. My mother in law purchased clothes for me and it didn't fit. She gave me the original receipt and I went there to go do an exchange and Thomas refused. The receipt states, "Exchanges and returns will be accepted within 30 days from the date of purchase (or the date of reciept for delivery orders). The original receipt or original gift receipt must accompany the exchange or return." Well, I went to go do an exchange, and he said it has to go back to the original credit card, then you can purchase the items on your own credit card. Thomas said he could not do an exchange or put it on a gift card. I said the back of the receipt is the terms, and it doesn't state what you are saying, Thomas. He stated well that's what was told to us during training and its internal policy." I said I wanted to get this on recoding to show corporate. He said I could not do that, and he would no longer help me. Thomas walked away. The terms are misrepresented by Thomas, that's not ok. Miserable service: I had ordered items which later showed "shipped" when in fact shipment was cancelled less than 3 hours after label was created. No one informed me of that. 8 days later and after multiple calls and chats, some "investigation" was open, Saks confirmed items "lost" but no refund offered since it take forever to find out what happened - clearly at the expense of the customer who is both denied a product (which is no longer in stock at Saks or elsewhere), and it is charged without a refund for over two weeks after payment for the order, including over 8 days after the shipment had been cancelled. Meanwhile, Saks uses their time to generate a flood of meaningless emails confirming complete disfunction at Saks, sheer incompetence and disregard for both the customer and their fraudulent use of funds without a merchandise to justify the charges. Those items had never been in stock, in fact, the vendor did not have them - which is the reason I did not purchase from vendor directly - while Saks clearly states that items would ship from vendor. Avoid Saks at all costs, they offer nothing others do not except a whole lot of headaches and evidence of a corporate culture that breeds and shields incompetence and disrespect in a desperate effort to acquire some funds, no matter how little. read more

I was super excited to shop at Saks off 5th in Costa Mesa. I found a pair of shoes , waited in line for 20 min. When I got home I realized there are two different prices for the same exact shoe. I called the store and see if I could get an adjustment. I was told that they go by the price on the shoe , I said it's the exact size and upc number . Jackie quickly told me to call back and speak to the store director , they would be back in 10 min. , I asked for corporate number she told my GOOD BYE AND HUNG UP ON ME. I purchased a large suitcase from Saks off fifth Avenue. The minute I used it I landed at the airport and there is a stress fracture down by the wheel on my return flight the whole thing had cracked open and when I went and talked to the manager summer at Costa Mesa she let me know there's nothing they could do because it's been past 30 days and no one else had had an issue with it. Well, first time here and I think it's just not my cup of tea. The store looks pretty and organized very nicely. What was interesting is that I never saw a single person on the floor to ask a question. It was a middle of the day on a week day so I was surprised the help was a bit sparse. I also was literally shocked at the prices. That's probably just me though and probably because I'm not a super high end shopper. The three stars was for the lack of help or even anyone to greet you and I was there about 10-15 minutes walking around. The parking and access to this place is a bit challenging too. For me, A walk through the store starts at the front with the Burberry section for men and I work my way to the suits and underwear section. I've been in need of some retail therapy. I've passed by Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th many times while taking the bus to and from work. I'm a sucker for sales (or any type of bargain really), so I finally decided to stop by on Tuesday, February 21st around 5:45pm. I went straight downstairs as the Men's department is on street level. They have a fair amount of clearance racks as well and racks with markdowns. I started in the shoe section, but didn't find anything I liked. However, they do have a pretty good selection of shoes including Hunter rain boots! While browsing the clearance racks, I ended up finding a BCBGMAXAZRIA Thalia Wrap Front Short Jumpsuit / Romper in Light Fuchsia / Pink and a Ralph Lauren black dress. The listed market price for the romper was $168, but I got it for $33.97, so a savings of $134.03. The dress was listed at $145, but I got it for $29.97, so a savings of $115.03. I later went upstairs and found the roommate a Calvin Klein sweater. Originally $89.50, but marked down to $19.98, so a savings of $69.52. I normally don't pay much attention to the original rates listed at discount stores such as Off 5th. But if I take into account the actual price I paid for the items I got, I think I got a pretty good deal. Just get ready to dig as the clearance racks are not really organized. I ordered an expensive ring online. Within ONE WEEK the color has completely faded, rendering the ring useless. I am blown away by Saks Off 5th customer service. They had me send pictures of the ring, which clearly shows the ring is no longer wearable. Despite acknowledging this, they need over 48 hours to see if the can "accommodate" my return. Seriously? You send a cheap and defective product to a long standing customer, and then decide if you can "accommodate" a return? NEVER AGAIN. Saks should be ashamed of themselves. They have lost a customer. My kids were sick so I wasn't able to return my purchase. I called and got approval to mail it back past the 30 days. I sent it back in the same condition it was delivered to me, tags on, unused. It was sent back to me due to being past 30 days (which they had originally accepted) and "marks of wear". It's not my fault I was given a defective bag and then blamed for marks? I called customer service after having done surgery a few days ago, not the time to deal with this. They said you can try to send it back but we can't guarantee the returns department will accept it. I don't like the return policy of this store. Trying to make a return, I began filling out online form, then received message that my item is outside the window for returns. Is this a time window? Because I was not informed that I had only a certain time to make my return. I am disheartened to the point where I won't shop here again. A few weeks ago I went to off Saks fifth ave store in Costa Mesa for the first time. I bought multiple items including a jacket. It looked nice and price was good. I brought it home and two weeks later I removed the tag to wear it to work. Almost two hours later this jacket turned to a mess. Threads and Kent's were hanging out and it was in unbelievably bad shape. I am a teacher and realized I cannot go to the next class having this jacket on. I went to my car and changed it with a jacket I had with me. I came home, found the tag and took it to store. Manager came in and when I explained it she said well this is what this is. I love shopping at Off 5th and have found so many great deals here. While not my favorite location in terms of pricing, it is one of the better ones in terms of looks and organization. Large store, well spread out and super clean. they just don't get quite the super low prices that some locations do, therefor you have a much easier time shopping and it's never busy here either. I purchased an item online, and was sent the wrong thing. I started a return, and they sent me a paper to print out that says to simply bring the item and paper to any Off Fifth store and they will ship it back for you. I bring it in the store, and a nasty lady who I assume was some sort of manager refused to accept it, saying it has to be in the original box (obviously I removed it from the box). She says it's "store policy," when I have the printout from the store itself saying I have to do nothing but drop off the item there. Not a nice experience.
