I had the most pleasant experience today at Macy's South Coast Plaza. Today is the day before Mother's Day, and I headed to the beauty dept to buy a couple Lancôme products I needed. I also wanted to take advantage of their free gift with purchase. Because of the free gift and the free large, imported fresh roses with fragrance purchase, the Lancôme counter was a frenzy. A sales associate named Debbie approached me amidst the chaos and asked if I needed help. She broke into a warm, friendly smile. I did need help. I asked her where the blushes were and she guided me through the crowds to the blushes. She assured me of the shade I was considering and even suggested I layer it with the current Lancôme blush I already had. I also need the mascara primer and again with a smile she whisked away into the crowd to go get me one. My boyfriend and I met her at the register where she quickly rang me up, again with that genuine smile. This was the easiest, most painless, friendliest service I've ever experienced at any beauty counter, and go figure it was crazy busy! However, I stopped by the SCP location during MDW, and found out they have Ralph Lauren suit separates (you can mix and match the jacket & pants). The foregoing means a custom fit off the rack for a reasonable price. I was able to buy 3 suits for slightly over $400, if you take into account the MDW sale, my Macy's card, and Star Rewards. I used to pay $500 at Nordies for one non-custom suit. I believe the sales staff does not work on commission, but they are very helpful. I was pleasantly surprised. The perfume when purchased the individual would decorate the bottle for you. In the excitement, I left with out the stickers. I live in Orange county so when i noticed the stickers were not there to place myself, I figure go to Womens Macys in Costa Mesa. This is where everthing goes wrong. All I needed was the stickers to decorate the bottle the sales associates , plural 2 did not want to give me the stickers. I had the sales receipt with me. They told me to that I could return the perfume and then purchase the perfume again at their location. At that point this made no sense and realized they wanted the commission. I was so angry at this point, I didnt show any emption but my gosh to think this way is insane! I had already paid just give me the stickers. I will never ever shop for perfume at Macys. I have been a shopper since 1966, over 50 years. Used to love the NYC store and next the LA store. However, the staff is now a hinderance, not a help. Everyone has a thick accept and little understanding of the American definitions & collegial expressions. If there's a communication gap, one has to wait for a department manager who in turn also doesn't understand what u are referring to . A store manager then needs to come in. Making the entire experience a turn off. When I go to Europe, every sales persons English is excellent, making a trip there just to shop, a seamless and happy experience. This review is for the jewelry department (watches). Just terrible customer service and logic. My mother in law bought me a watch for my wedding. After I returned from my honeymoon I got around to trying it on and immediately saw that it was too big. I took it to Macy's for an exchange and was told that it was past the 30 day return period by 2 weeks. All of the tags were on the watch, I had the receipt, and there was 0 damage because all I did was try it on once. I explained to the customer service rep that this makes no sense because then nobody could shop for anyone in advance with this ridiculous policy. Was my mother in law supposed to buy the watch on the morning of the wedding to give me the full 30 day return period? What's the purpose of a gift receipt then?!? I asked to speak with a manager. The customer service rep went to the back and said that the manager was busy but said there was nothing macys could do. For Sonny the so called assistant manager at Macy's is a complete lack of an assistant. She's unhelpful. She lacks manners and professionalism. I had placed a coat on hold by one of the sales people on the third floor, in the women's department. The next day I came by to pick up the coat and pay for it, the sales person couldn't find it. Sonny came by to help but she lacked manners and was completely rude to us. Instead of being apologetic or sincere as to why the coat was missing, she had total disregard to what happened to us. They had sold my coat to someone else. to be honest all employees that work for Macys are all care less about their customers, they treat all their customers the same way with disrespect and have no empathy. corporate needs to know about what's going on with their department stores. This location was so chaotic and over stimulating. I called to see if your location had my preferred type of undergarments available for purchase, I was on hold for about 5 minutes. When I arrived and weaved in and out of merchandise, I had to ask where the lingerie section was (no visible signage to indicate which sections are on which level) A cosmetic worker was kind enough to direct me to the escalator, but to my dismay and surprisingly not to her attention, it was not functional. I got in a full customer elevator that was being utilized as a service elevator, contractor and employee elevator, and shoppers. All of this I can forgive, even though this location is housed in a luxury mall, and expected to have a certain level of experience. Usually, I order online, but I'm on vacation and didn't pack enough so I didn't think anything wrong of stopping in. Here's where is gets bad. My real issue was that the undergarments were hard to shop. The displays were jam packed with the same sizes and colorways. I grabbed a section and walked it over to a table to sort through the sizes. Unfortunately, I found multiple pairs of Calvin Klein thongs with bodily fluids on them. This is so beyond unacceptable. They were reduced, so someone must have seen the marks. They should have been removed from the floor and damaged out. read more
