I love me some Marshall's. Good food, friendly service. The brisket tacos are good, and the ribs are great.

Let me start off by saying we eat Marshall's BBQ from both locations frequently & generally we love it. My bf stopped to bring food home after work & got in line at the drive thru before 8pm with another car in front of him. Once he got up to order no acknowledgement, so he drove to the window and told them and asked to order. The young kid working the drive thru just said we are closed and blew him off. Absolutely did not want to work or serve customers. Turning customers away that have been waiting before closing is not a good look. read more

Don't like doing this, but they have it coming. I've eaten here many times and probably will in the future. Their vegetables are solid and the brisket is pretty good. The last time I stopped in I got take out. Splurged and got a rib plate & a sandwich for my wife. As usual the brisket was fine, bun was fine etc. The ribs were one of the worst things I've really seen anywhere. The meat on the side was basically congealed. It was off color too. Sort of light colored. Tried to eat it and made it to bite #3 before throwing it out. If I would have been eating there no question they'd go back. Was this an accident or was it because it was to go? Course I live 5 miles away and I hate it when you call and they say "bring it back and we'll make it right". (I didn't call on this one). I was really upset and debated giving 2 stars for this review. Also you're at I think $18-19 on a rib plate. Note----Last week I ate at 401K BBQ in North Carrollton. Got the ribs and brought 2 or 3 home for leftover. 2 days later they were still fine. Not like the day I got them, but more than good enough to eat. Marshall's you are better than this! read more

First for what is great about Marshall's. The staff is extremely friendly and service oriented. That alone gave them an extra star. The interior reminds me of places we stopped at in my youth while we were taking one of my dad's famous "let's go see Texas" trips. It's very cozy and familiar. The prices are very affordable for a bbq place about 50% below market. I ordered a half pound of moist, sliced brisket. This is my go to order in evaluating all bbq joints. The meat was served on a plastic plate with a heated 2oz container of sauce. I orders green beans and cole slaw for my sides. They were generous with their portions. The brisket was moist and fell apart. It had no unique flavor. I added a bit of sauce to give it some. This helped. The green beans appeared to be out of can and enhanced with red pepper. They were suitable. The cole slaw was solid but nothing unique. I wanted to really like this place, but the meat was boring. Nice faMily run BBQ joint. We enjoyed reading the history as we waited to order - there's something about enjoying a meal from a place that's been in business 50+ years. BBQ is notoriously judged based on personal preference. I like well seasoned brisket and little reliance on sauce. Marshall's offers well cut and cooked brisket but is lightly seasoned. The star of the show are the sides, desserts and a wide variety of house made sauces. Altogether pleasant and very filling. Not the type of BBQ I would necessarily seek out, but also nothing I would complain about being served. Staff are super friendly and those sides - trust me. You want those calories. read more

The food at the Carrollton location is all real Texas homemade goodness. I have never been disappointed in the 20+ years I've been going there for my BBQ ribs & brisket fix. And they always hit the spot. I've never been to the FB location as it's a lot further away. Hello, all restaurants have gone up significantly in price. A few weeks ago I spent over $40 at a local fried chicken place for 8 pcs of all dark meat, some rolls and two small sides. No drinks or deserts. Party of two $43.00. Marshall's service has always been very prompt, courteous and gets my order right. Yes, I can tell when they change their rib supplier. Fortunately they end back up with the original source one or one closest to it. Sometimes the meat suppliers do go out of business. I am forever a very satisfied repeat customer. read more

I use to go to Marshalls all the time for their moderate prices and great staff and moderate quality. Well the staff is still great but the food has taken a massive hit for what they're charging for it now. The potatoes are very VERY small and the meat isn't the same. read more

After all these years, I find myself surprised that I've not reviewed Marshall's. My family has eaten there forever, and they are always consistent. One thing to point out ... This is East Texas style BBQ so don't expect CattleAck or Pecan Lodge. Nonetheless, it's very good. We went in last night to get some chopped beef sandwiches and saw the guy carving some turkey for a previous order so my wife got a turkey platter. After tasting her turkey, I was ready to put down my chopped beef and grab the turkey. Fortunately for me, my wife wasn't very hungry so I got the extra turkey. So good I might stick to that from now on. The sides are good but nothing special. Besides, no one goes to a BBQ joint for the sides. BTW ... Get the fried pies. read more

Marshall's has always been a favorite of mine, dining frequently over the years @ the location in FB, closer to home. Granted, it's sorta fast food BBQ, no Off the Bone or Hard Eight comparisons appropriate, but IMO pretty decent acceptable reasonably priced choices. Today I found myself in North Carrollton running errands. Boy, has the landscape changed since we lived there in the early-mid 80's. Hardly recognized neighborhoods, shopping centers, restaurants that I used to frequent so often. Luckily, while wandering through areas, I spotted another Marshall's, so as the approaching hunger pains came on, decided to pop in and get an order to go. Line service was most friendly and welcoming. Ordered my usual chopped brisket sandwich w/two sides...but ended up getting two orders of each for future dining enjoyment during the week. I was there rather early so fulfillment of my order was quick; one sandwich, two orders of their delicious Butter Beans, one of my favorite veges, and two orders of potato salad. I gave in also to the impulse to treat myself to some of the most delicious peach cobbler! Restraint was absent today. Took my sacked up order to the condiment station and gathered onions, pickles and several containers of their original BBQ sauce. Got home and plated everything for a great lunch while watching one of my shows on a very full DVR; gotta clear some of those for more recordings yet to come. The brisket was the usual moist, tender and smoky beef, with a dab of the BBQ sauce, added onions and pickles and a dash of mustard and sweet relish. Quite tasty, although I could only eat half of it, deconstructing the other half for lunch tomorrow! The Butter Beans were delectable, very tender and flavorful with the bits of diced ham; the broth was thick and creamy. Another order left for tomorrow to go with the other half of sandwich. The potato salad was good, nothing outstanding, your typical BBQ restaurant mustard PS. But I enjoyed it. Wait...I was too full to eat the cobbler so saved it for a late afternoon snack. Finally, late afternoon arrived! Warmed the cobbler and topped it with a big scoop of Blue Bell Vanilla. The best adjective I can apply is "just scrumptious"! What a treat; nice flaky crust, tender well seasoned peaches that were just slightly sweet. A large serving, so again, more left to complete my lunch tomorrow. Pricing @ MBBQ is most reasonable, about $1-2 less expensive than Dickey's as a comparison. Around $9 for a sandwich plate w/two sides. However, on this visit I overdid it with ordering two extra sides. Well worth it. Looking forward to another fine lunch another day. If I ever find myself further up north, I'll probably stop in again! read more

I finally stopped in this place after seeing it for years and I love BBQ cause I'm from KCMO and we know a thing or two about it. This place knows NOTHING about it. I ordered a chopped brisket sandwich plate which was so small I thought it was a slider. Meat tasted like it had no seasoning at all. My two sides were baked beans and potato salad in which BOTH were horrible in taste and no flavor. I had high hopes I would enjoy it but I was so disappointed I ended up throwing my sides away. I will say the one star is for the staff cause they were friendly in helping me but they need to work on a little more seasoning in their food read more

They have great pinto beans! One of the only places in Dallas you can find them. So many have BBQ beans. Ick! I like their sausage sandwich with okra and peach cobbler. They aren't cheap, the decor is nothing special (it actually looks a bit questionable from the street but what good BBQ place doesn't?) and service isn't Ritz but the food is good! Let me start with saying they have the nicest staff. However, the food is so bland and tasteless. Thought they just forgot to season everything on our first visit. But it's been the same 3 times now. Brisket is very moist but strangely has no flavor whatsoever--it's perplexing. We've tried most sides and they are also tasteless. Reminds me of old folks home food. Not a speck of salt, pepper, or other seasonings. Their bbq sauce isn't even good. I want to love this place because of the staff but sadly 3 strikes and Marshall's is out. read more

I haven't had too or experiences with "fast food" BBQ, so my expectations were low... BOY WAS I WRONG! This was solid. Food was hot, it all tasted great, the 2 meat plate was worth it! Thank you Marshall's for making my dad happy on his birthday!! I drove almost an hour here on a Sunday to buy my dad BBQ around 6pm. We moved away from this area. He is very picky about his BBQ. He's sooo picky that Hard Eight (the most raved about BBQ place, doesnt even cut it for him.) my farther is old school and likes his soul, true texan BBQ. He's not worried about calories or etc that most people are worrying about now when they eat out! He wants the real meats! A MANS FOOD! We got him the family pack which is very reasonable price for quantity of food! I got half pull pork and half brisket. The workers were extremely nice and helpful. We waited a bit for pulled pork but was worth the wait. They aren't greedy with portion sizes. Everything about this place may seem "run down" but let me tell you, to people like my dad its called home. He likes his old fashioned ways/food. Food was great. Nothing burnt or overcooked. Been a long time overdue to eat here. Went through the drive thru...large serving sizes. We got the Mae West small plate which comes with two sides for $8.50, combo plate w 2-3 meats and 2 sides for $11, and the rib sandwich plate with 2 sides for $11. Only complaint was the rib sandwich still had the bones in it... Is that right? All three meals came with Texas toast and is yummy! Ordered through Doordash. Brisket was dry as a bone, some of the ribs are OK most are end cut and essentially jerky, sausage is passable but on the bland side. This place used to be good but now it's a much better deal and experience to just go to Spring Creek instead, that place looks better and has better food for a better price. The decor here is a bit tacky and I didn't appreciate the employees attitude when I asked for turkey instead of chicken because it had obviously just been sitting there for quite a while and looked awful. I'm giving 3 stars because it's better than the Farmers Branch location but from now on I'll just go to Spring Creek. The competition is better. read more

Drive through was quick and friendly and the menu was big enough to make me happy, with maybe 10 or so side options. I was actually really intrigued by a sign advertising turkey leg/sausage on a stick on the same parking lot, so I'll be going back to check that out at some point. Problem #1: There was a distinct whiff of dog poop (literally) when I opened my pulled pork sandwhich, and although it eventually dissipated, it was enough to make my stomach turn right off the bat. The okra was good and a large serving, but the potato salad could have used more flavor. The beans tasted exactly like bush's beans, which I could have made at home for less. The pork was moist but lacked flavor and the sausage was just downright bad, tasting a little like bad hillshire farms. I was super disappointed in my visit -- I've actually been wanting to try the place for months, and was almost completely let down. Kudos on the okra, but everything else was bleh. read more

I consider Marshals to be my culinary bootie call - Feeling peckish - Drive through, 1 lb BBQ Turkey - - Boom! I would not consider myself a BBQ aficionado, however its handy having this place so close to where I live. Ive been all through the menu, and have dined in as well as taken away. There isn't anything I don't like on this menu - Its all good. I do however have to make a special mention of the BBQ Turkey. My GF has tried to make me eat Turkey mets for a long time for health reasons. (She tries in vain). With Marshalls BBQ Turkey however there is no trying - its just super tasty and moist. I frequently buy LB or so, and have it on morning toast with avocado or fresh tomato. If you are a local to Carrollton, you often see the Marshals folks supporting local fund raisers and event by providing lunches - I like businesses that get out into the community.
