I have been wanting to try this place for a while since I love a good cornmeal batter. The fish was flaky and fresh and the fry was just what I was looking for. The I think the batter could use more salt but I really liked their tartar sauce. The shrimp wasn't my favorite so I'd personally skip on those next time. The gumbo was decent but pretty pricey for a small bowl. The service was super nice and the food came out in a decent time. They had a lot of tables and plenty of space. They should call this the catfish hole... This is probably been my place to go to for catfish for the past 15 years. The catfish here is really good and still is very good But the reason I'd call this a hole is mainly because it smells so terrible in here The place is very dingy. The staff is unprofessional. Exactly what you would expect when driving through rural Louisiana except it's right here in town! Lots of locals, even sales people bringing clients in when I visited. I over heard the salesman tell his clients that everything on the menu is amazing. Great service and great decor to match the vibe. Catfish was perfect, thin and crispy like I love it. Poorboy we dresses perfectly as well. My only knock on the place would be they don't use traditional Poorboy bread, kind of a disappointment. Two guys who look like they would be just as comfortable renting you a boat, work hard to deliver really good food. The menu goes much further than you would expect. Very clean and quiet Staff that took my order was pleasant and good customer service When I got home the fish fillets were still hot. Expected to have to reheat them but it was not needed I ate the calamari on the drive home as the food smelled so good. They were hot, not over breaded and not over cooked at all. My Mom and TT from Louisiana both loved this place when they would come visited both has since went home to be with the Lord. I'm not sure if the older Hispanic gentleman/son who I watched grow up working at the counter have always been respectable have always been awesome. The level of disrespect the cook who said he was son but doesn't or resemble son at all !Well today was totally disrespectful. I placed an order for pick up like always. I placed my order I ask him the price he going to say I don't know the price I'm busy and hung up. I politely got in my car drove 10 minutes and ask for the manager which wasn't there which is fine. Let me just preface this by saying I am a snob about my catfish, with that said this place definitely deserves four stars! They serve real domestic catfish not Swai fish, the portion sizes are generous the fillets are literally the size of a whole catfish. One of the most important things to me is the cleanliness of the fish. I absolutely did not taste any fishy smell and they cleaned out the intestine line which is my number one pet peeve if if left in it. The baked potato was like butter literally melted with just a very light touch of my fork the skin and the inside of the potato was so moist it was almost like a mashed potato.
