Diner classics with an out-of-this-world twist! Mars Diner has cozy diner ambiance/decor, friendly staff, and great tasting food! A must try if you're in uptown Toronto.

One of my favourite brunch spots whenever I'm in midtown! Definitely hits the spot after a long night out. The food is so yummy, the service is always good and the I love the classic diner aesthetic.

One of my favorite brunch spots of all time. I love that all the menu items are space-themed and they play 60s hits. They've got a good amount of booths and 2-seaters. Good for group of 4 or less. The staff are quick and super friendly and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend this spot if you're uptown!

Ambiance: Its a casual diner with that typical diner look. Chrome & the colours are black, white & red. The diner is very narrow so be prepared to possibly bump into people. If you're claustrophobic this might not be the place for you. I wasn't able to count how many seats are in this restaurant. But I estimate about 20 seats. Service: Our waitress was friendly. Service was relatively quick. Food: The food was not impressive to me at all. I had the classic Mars burger. Hubby had the big bang burger. My burger had some kind of sauce that tasted odd to me. The burger patty was kind of small too. The fries were dry and overcooked. For dessert I asked for the red velvet cake. It was really dry and tasted like it was three days old. I would never eat here again. Washrooms were in the basement and clean. But very cramped. Tall and large people would have a hard time fitting in the ladies washroom stall. One of the stalls I went into was so close to my knees. I had to be careful. Otherwise, the door would have been pushed open by my knees. I really didn't like this place. I will I would not choose to eat here again. I came here because a friend chose this place for her birthday.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. I was super excited to try this place, and I was so hungry that I ordered the grand slam- two eggs, three sausages, three pieces of bacon, potatoes, toast and a pancake. It was really good but nothing spectacular. The sausages were a little too oily. My boyfriend got the veggie omelette and said it was over cooked. Prices are pretty standard for an average breakfast meal.

Classic diner! Food: 4/5 Tasty breakfast. Service: 3/5 Fast and efficient. Environment: 4/5 Busy weekends. Classic feel. Washrooms: 4/5 Fine. Worth it?: 4/5 Came for a weekend brunch. It was fairly busy and we we're a group of 6. They do not have many tables for a group this size but we were able to sqeeze into one of the booths. The service was fast and efficient tho there was a hair in one of the waters. It was sorted quickly. The food was pretty good. The grand slam was tasty and the Mars mountain looked good however j was expecting a bigger mountain. With such epic names I guess I was just expecting to be super full. Still, I was quite satisfied. I would definitely come back the next time I am around.

super heavy but delicious breakfast. I had the Mars mountain which is everything; Bacon, Sausage, Pancakes, Hollondaise and Eggs.. It was on a dare and it might have taken 5 years off my life but so worth it. Service was very good too and even though the place was busy, it was prompt and nice. Its an old school dinner with the ambiance to match, but very unpretentious. Would go back.

Standard diner joint. Breakfast was fine, nothing that blew my mind. Best part was the dark rye toast since you rarely see that ever. My omelette lacked cheese, felt like after thought. Home fries pretty good. Service was good. Overall, it was just fine, nothing spectacular or out of this world like its name suggests.

Great staff. Wonderful food. Too crowded on weekends. Fine otherwise. Close to the subway.

Really crispy and delicious, they were definitely prepared well and hit the spot. I couldn't have asked for better hashbrowns. The buttermilk biscuits were also really fluffy and tasted good. No complaints here. The Hot Turkey French Toast however... I think they should remove this off the menu. We ordered it because it sounded interesting and we like to think of ourselves as adventurous foodies, but oh wow this was bad! We ate 2 bites each and couldn't eat more. Its just really dense and fatty and the gravy is way too overpowering and the flavors just don't go together. We were starving and hadn't eaten all day and couldn't get ourselves to eat more than 2 bites because we were frankly disgusted. It tasted really bad. DO NOT ORDER THIS. We came for a 2pm lunch on a Tuesday, and they told us the wait would be around 15-20mins which we said was fine. However, we ended up waiting 40mins, and we suspect that they let other people in front of us (told there were 2 parties of 2 in front of us but let in 3 parties). It gave diner vibes but was definitely more cramped. Was busier than I expected on a random Tuesday at 2pm. Low rating is for the awful main and the longer-than-promised wait time. But I do have to give them credit for the tasty apps. We might've just ordered the wrong thing on the menu but we're not coming back to find out, especially if the wait will always be this long.

With its red exterior, snug booth seating, and counter stools worn smooth by years of faithful custom, it wears its authenticity without affectation. The Irish breakfast is the undisputed centrepiece: a generous, unapologetically hearty spread that arrives with the sort of abundance one associates with a proper Irish kitchen. Portions are substantial and satisfying, calibrated for appetite rather than aesthetics -- and all the better for it. The menu is unpretentious, and the cooking honest. What distinguishes The George Street Diner most, however, is the quality of its hospitality. The service is warm and unhurried, characterised by a genuine attentiveness that is increasingly rare. One leaves not merely fed, but looked after -- and that distinction matters. It is the sort of neighbourhood gem one recommends without hesitation, and whose reputation travels well. I have done so on multiple occasions, and the response has been unfailingly positive. A treasured find for weekend brunch in Toronto.

The atmosphere was welcoming and had the classic charm you'd expect from a neighborhood favorite. Unfortunately, our experience didn't quite live up to the hype. The food was decent but fairly average. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing stood out as memorable either. The Irish breakfast was not Irish at all. For a place with such a strong reputation, I expected more flavor and attention to detail. The biggest disappointment was the service. The service was slow, they never checked on the table, and several requests (3 of the 5 drinks, syrup for the french toast, water refills) were either forgotten or took a long time to arrive. The restaurant wasn't especially busy, which made the lack of attentiveness even more noticeable. About 20 mins after we finished our food, we decided to head inside to pay and then our server noticed we left and accused us of walking on our tab but we had the payment receipt! I can see why some people may enjoy this spot, and perhaps I visited on an off day, but based on this experience, I found the food ordinary and the service well below expectations.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.
