Tips: - This place opens until 3:30 pm on Saturdays. - The french toast is awesome! Last Saturday, I had completed fetching groceries to make a feast for Thanksgiving. It helped that the store had everything that I needed and didn't require a few more stops. I felt like a late lunch. It was 1:30 pm. It was enough time to find a breakfast joint that closes at 3 pm or so. I hadn't been to a Sunset Grill in eons. I did a search and found this one at Kingston Road, near Morningside Avenue. It's cool that I'm getting to know this area these days. I was here a couple of Saturdays ago for Boardwalk Burgers. This eatery is within the same block as Boardwalk. I had no problem finding a parking spot across from Sunset Grill at 2 pm. This restaurant closes at 3:30 pm on Saturdays. I had more than enough time to enjoy a leisurely meal. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a friendly woman. She guided me to a table. It was comfortable. Rachel was my server. She was great. She made sure that I was good throughout my meal. I got these items: - Diet Coke - French toast with scrambled eggs, sausage links, and hash browns My Diet Coke came out first. I like that Sunset Grill provides a glass with ice. It felt fancy. I loved how cold my drink was. Excellent! My food came out next. I loved the french toast. It was perfect. I spread some of the butter on both slices, followed by pouring maple syrup on them. Yum! This meal also came with my choice of eggs, sausage links, and hash browns. I asked for HP (House of Parliament) sauce. It was good with my scrambled eggs. It was a nice change of pace. I loved getting four sausage links. They were delicious and perfectly cooked. The hash browns were cubed potatoes. I liked them with both the HP sauce and ketchup. It was nice experimenting with the former. I got my bill and paid at the counter. Oddly, my credit card made a partial payment. We tried it again with the remaining sum. We were good. So weird! I used the washroom before I left. It was clean. No complaints. I had a nice experiencing dining in here on a Saturday afternoon. It was nice getting my Sunset Grill fix at long last! My wife and I stopped by after doing laundry near by. My wife had their early special of three eggs, bacon with toast and home fries. The order cane quickly and exactly as requested. I ordered the smoke salmon platter. It arrived with a toasted bagel and cream cheese. The serving of salmon was generous and I had enough salmon to enjoy it on a second d bagel. The servers were attentive and kept the coffee cups filled. I enjoyed the platter so much so I stopped by the following week to get an order to go. read more

I've been to the Vaughan spot and I've always past by the Scarborough branch every week. Sadly it was our second choice to Markham Station, but I knew going to this place is still going to be good, knowing what to expect. Sunday, brunch was a bit busy but the staff was very friendly and made sure we were taken care. Will most likely come back here more often. read more

This is my favourite sunset grill so far! It's the cleanest, has the best atmosphere with the friendliest staff! I got the eggs sunset, and asked for added spinach. The portion is generous-worth the price and it did not disappoint! The eggs were the perfectly cooked (asked for overeasy), delicious home fries and they did not cheap out on the hollandaise sauce. My boyfriend got the sunset super, which he was very pleased with. He's very particular with his pancakes but they were delicious- fluffy, soft and moist! Our server Sarah was great! She was knowledgeable and attentive. Definitely will be coming back here very soon! read more

When you are in need of a breakfast right away that will soak up the alcohol, then check out this chain restaurant. It does the job well for cheap when need be. I wouldn't come here all the time a a brunch fave...but once in a blue moon it's ok. the service at this particular spot was super friendly - our server (whose name I've forgotten) was so pleasant and friendly that even when she forgot my home fries I was ok with it :) I ordered a bunch of sides (not a big egg fan) - I got 4 slices of turkey bacon, the fruit salad and the side order of home fries - which is more like a main order of home fries because it was a HUGE ORDER! It's clean, the food comes pretty quickly which is a good thing when you got the morning hunger pains. read more

I have not heard good reviews about the Sunset grill breakfast chain but had to check out the one in my area for myself. I would say the service is slow and the food is average, nothing really special. My husband had the cornbeef hash with eggs and I had the chocolate pancakes with a side of peameal bacon. The pancakes seemed small for the price and not as light and fluffy as they advertised. As well, the season on the cornbeef hash was great, the beef was too finely minced that it did not have as much substance as other cornbeef hash we have tasted. Probably what made up for the meal was the freshly ground coffee and the homefries which were well-seasoned and tasted like roasted potatoes and not deep fried. read more

This place has very quick and good service. The food is always good and never disappoints. You can't go wrong by the scrambled eggs, potatoes and toast! We generally get the fluffy pancakes and they are delish. We recently visited during Mother's Day and our server was fast and attentive. She brought my son a plastic cup with a straw so he can enjoy his orange juice and refilled our water and coffee. At the end of our meal they gave me a rose which was very sweet! This is my go to breakfast place!! read more

Really enjoyed my visit here. A 'hidden' gem in Scarborough I think. I did get the older lady server who really anticipated everything, including asking if I wanted HP or Frank's hot sauce! Bacon was alot fresher than alot of other places I've been, and premeal bacon as well. I actually tasted the 'freshness' and flavour of it. I find most places taste burnt, or bland, or dry. Hope my future experiences there is as good as my first. read more

Not a bad spot... Very clean and presentable. Food was fast and quick. I would say French toast would be the way to go if your a toast man. Unlike the other franchises this one actually makes the French toast from scratch (some cinnamon and nutmeg would make it stellar). But ye.... If you in the area, hit it :P read more

Iam rather new in Scarborough . I've been to two other breakfast joints around the area, so far this was the best. The service was on point and the portion sizes were decent. Can't really think of anything negative to say,but I am definitely coming back . read more

First time here and likely last time. Service was terrible, took over 40 minutes for the standard egg and bacon breakfasts, it arrived cold and we sent it back because it was wrong!! Wait again. Waitress was terrible-has 5 tables yo serve and 3 of 5 sent food back-one table sent back 3 times, one table sat and waited for 10-15 minutes before they were even acknowledged!!! Food was not what we expected, not even close to good. Atmosphere was good though-lots of local neighbours so nice to say hi!! so that's positive!! read more

We always pass this one so decided to stop in for brunch. I've been to other Sunset Grill locations and thought they were fine. THIS one was super! The decor is clean the staff are all friendly. Tables tidy, place looked after. No mess left. The staff are also professional. We had freshly squeezed orange juice (yum!) and both had the special: steak with 3 poached eggs w hollandaise sauce. Of course they asked how we'd like our steaks done but then they even ask us how we'd like our eggs poached (soft, reg or hard). I think I've been asked that maybe one other time in my entire life! Also, they ask how you'd like your bacon done as well. Impressive! Satisfying, great service, fresh, flavourful food and the prices were okay. We'll definitely be back! read more

Clean, friendly and timely service. The manager was very approachable and appeared sincerely grateful for our visit. Good food. Good portion size. Would go again. read more

I ordered the eggs sunset and asked for my eggs to be poached soft. 1/3 eggs were actually soft, the other 2 were medium. Should've gone to Eggsmart. Not impressed. The home fries were good though but doesn't make up for the botched eggs I received. read more

It's like Sunday morning breakfast at mom's. Friendly staff that always remembers you and food is always on point. Extra bacon regular style...yum! read more

I wanted to love this place because its right in the neighbourhood I grew up in, but the service was awful. The kid serving us was nice enough but just completely complacent. He forgot our cutlery, coffee, and toast. One of those is bad enough but all three? Neither one of us got our toast til we were basically done out meal. And we only got it because I got up and told them. Who did they think that toast sitting by itself under the warming lights was for? The food is decent but its breakfast, not Parisian dining, so food can't save this place. Management needs to wake up or It won't last. read more

Food was ok, something I could of made at home. The server was a sweet heart but service wasn't the greatest, don't know if I'll be back

Good service, clean place and food is good as well, extras are a little pricey but still good

We eat breakfast here at all times of the day. Usually post running or cycling...so we are hungry! Service is fast and super friendly. If you're lucky Amanda will be your server, she's sweet. The food is always hot and cooked to perfection. read more

I go the Sunset Grill on Kingston Rd. near Lawrence when I'm visiting my mom. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day so I'm happy when I have a neighbourhood haunt I can rely on. This restaurant is super friendly and the service is fair to good. I've had eggs benny, which were yummy and french toast which was delicious. The hash browns are a bit dry and probably from frozen, not home fried. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. Friends with me have had eggs and bacon and liked them. The restaurant itself has a slightly cavernous feeling about it because it's big but don't worry, there's no echo. Seats are comfortable. If you want to read a paper or visit with friends it's quiet enough for both. I recommend this place for a reliable, informal breakfast that won't break the wallet. read more

We have become regulars for breakfast with our 3 year old son. In our opinion, this is the best breakfast place we have ever been to. Not only is the customer service excellent and attentive, but the food is fabulous. I love their omelets - they never skip on ingredients and it is a great blend of flavors. They are not only kid-friendly but welcome little ones. My son has gotten to know everyone who works there and gets a friendly wave even from the staff in the kitchen. He actually wanted to go there over McDonalds! Way to go Sunset Grill and welcome to our neighborhood. read more

I been this place many times because it was close to my home. However, They most look like always have short stuff. Food take long time, The waitress always in rush and go. It's hard to find for call for help. The most problem is jam, honey, all other Condiments are only available when you ask them and they bring very little. They need to hire some more friendly waitress before they lose their customer. All availability Condiments should be on the table. Good luck. read more

We go here occasionally with a lunch group that gathers every Friday at different restaurants. The food is pretty good. My complaint is they can't seem to serve a group of 8 to 12 people and get all the orders right. Plus, they serve half of us and by the time food comes for the others, the first bunch is almost done eating. Toast never comes out at the same time as the meals. It's toast. How hard is it to make that? I think if they had even one more person on staff, they could get it right. And yet, we keep going back. read more

Horrible service. Had to grab my own menu, my own cutlery, food was sub par for what they charge (a side of bacon is the same cost as purchasing an entire package at a grocery store). Over cooked, and small portions. "Fresh squeezed" orange juice.. Not fresh.. Full of preservatives. Server threw the bill at us at the end of the meal. It wasn't overly busy, and we never raised complaint, so her behaviour was kind of unexpected and rude. Wont be going there again and will be advising others that it's not worth going to. Next time we stay home and just make our own.. read more

Very pleasant breakfast experience. We always come here when we are in Scarborough. The service is fast, the food is delicious. We especially enjoy their side dish of chunky potato hash browns, some of the best I've ever had! If you're into healthy food, try the egg white/spinach vegetable breakfast sandwich, it was surprisingly good, and a great option for a healthy breakfast. Under 10 bucks as well! Priced very reasonably. Our server I believe was the owner's son, he was extremely helpful, very friendly, and attentive, checking on our table frequently. When we were trying to mix-and-match breakfast meals with sides to order, he would suggest a combo that made way more sense, and was able to save us $. It's so refreshing to be served by a waiter who genuinely cares! We tipped him well. All in all, this place is great. Very happy with their friendly level of service, cozy and clean ambience, and delicious breakfast. For a family-run business, the level of professionalism is exceptional. They make you feel right at home, even if it's busy- which it always is, whenever we come here. But the service is fast! Tip: try to get a table toward the back of the restaurant though, as there is a breeze for the tables closer to the front doors. Otherwise, Great job! Very impressed with this place, the friendly service, and the yummy food. We will be back for sure. read more
