    a plate of breakfast food
    Chris C.

My cousin lives nearby and had recommended this place a few times so today seemed like a good time to try it. My friend, Jennifer K., and I arrived around 10:30am and it was pretty busy with a lot of breakfast diners. We ordered from their all day breakfast menu, which had a large selection of omelettes, pancakes, French toast, eggs, and some combos. I had eggs with peameal bacon and she had just eggs. Both meals came with potatoes, toast, and coffee. The food was cooked well, the portions were very generous, and the prices were CHEAP! The service was also very good. This is a great place for breakfast! Maybe I'll have to come back for lunch or dinner. PS - The company was fantastic!

Me and couple of friends were here for breakfast. I gotta say, this place is one of the best breakfast spot we have in Scarborough. The diner apparently has been there forever. The decoration is old-style and colourful, really had a retro theme to it. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. The service was good and attentive. We had a great time there! Would go back again very soon!

Can't believe I haven't been here and it's near my area! So happy I decided to have breakfast here on Saturday morning. The food was amazing! I got the 222 combo and I got to choose what meat I wanted & if I wanted either French toast or pancakes, with eggs. It definitely filled me up, the portions are good and the food tastes amazing. The service can definitely improve. I felt like it was really hard to get the waiter's attention to place the order or to even ask for stuff, such as straws, napkins, etc. Also, I understand that this diner has been open for decades now, but they should make some minor changes, such as the tables, seating area, etc.

French toast with a side of bacon. Top food is the 3 eggs with bacon (it comes with a side of home fries).

The atmosphere is very 1950s since it's been around since then! When we walked in, you can seat yourself. It wasn't busy but the waitresses didn't come to give us our menus for about 10 mins, so we went to grab some ourselves since they were talking to one another as soon as we came in. The food is classic diner food and $, about $5-10 or a bit more for each breakfast food. I only had breakfast here! But they do have lunch and dinner here too. No website that I've found... so I attached menu photos! Limited parking in the front (less than 4 spots) but there's shops all around so you can park and walk! Service was a bit slow, but they were nice. It wasn't busy, maybe 4-5 tables filled but it did take a long time to get small requests filled (hot sauce or water filled etc). Only maybe a star for the great portions and really reasonable price. Food is decent tasting and filling, but nothing special, and not worth more than it's $12 price. Came with a friend to catch up so it's nice to hang out with some cheap breakfast food. If you're looking for a quick spot it does get busy later in the morning and menu prices are $1 more after 11am. If you want classic breakfast, cheap, and quick, come here early! Or you'll find much better breakfast spots (even eggsmart or Cora's for more creative and tasty breakfast dishes for around $12). Had a nice time but I wouldn't return.

I love the handmade menu signs.

My first time there and I had the big breakfast for $10 plus tax and tip. Three eggs, four meats, hashbrowns and toast. This breakfast was high-quality, fast and perfect! Usually with a big breakfast plate like that, something is lower quality like the home fries or over cooked bacon or something. Not at Ted's restaurant! I know the parking can be a little tight but service is fast and friendly. I can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu, too bad it's not around the corner from where I live.

This diner is a classic in the area. We love it for its no-frills and quick to order entrees. Great for brunch and love their portion sizes. Their 222 and breakfast specials are the best!

Dear Ted's, the 1950s wants their food back. This place us ok if you want over priced, tasteless, grease spoon fare.

Local diner in Port union. Nothing special about the food or restaurant. But a nice spot for breakfast and a local diner feel.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.

We ordered eggs benedict with by far the best Hollandaise sauce you can get. The poached eggs were medium with lots of yolk to spread on the peameal bacon and english muffin. The shredded potato hashbrown is addictive and massive portions. The baked beans were nice and warm to compliment your breakfast. I ordered the 3 eggs over easy with 3 sausages and 3 bacon. They actually serve 4 eggs which I assume they are using medium sized eggs. That's OK as the extra makes up for the smaller eggs. You get a choice of toast ( white, whole wheat or rye) along with shredded potato hashbrowns or home fries. My mother-in-law ordered the Western Omelet with ham and onion. She really enjoyed the dish and she managed to eat almost half of the dish. The coffee is bottomless and the service is very friendly. I suggest dressing up for the cold weather because you might have to lineup outside the restaurant. I don't think they take reservations and it's first come first serve.

I've been enjoying their delicious steaks for years but things change, and not necessarily for the better. On my last couple visits, they had a very limited selection of steaks, the main reason I go there. This time, I ordered their 8oz Rib-Eye, which was not available. 12oz Rib-Eye, same thing. T-Bone steaks, sold out. I settled on their 16oz Rib-Eye, cooked medium-rare, with their roasted potatoes. It tasted okay but wasn't as tender as in the past and it was cooked unevenly, with parts of it very rare. I had to have a portion of it refired. There was also a large piece of fat, which was inedible. I got the impression that this was cooked from a frozen state. They used to include a salad with their meals but stopped doing that a while back. That's understandable, due to increased costs and the desire to keep meals affordable. The ambiance of this place has also gone downhill, with obvious signs of wear and tear. I've heard rumours of this area being redeveloped. If that's the case, I wouldn't expect any renovations. Too bad...

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)
