Was meeting a friend for breakfast and looked around for choices and found 3 good places downtown. I had the crab cake Benedict and my friend had peameal bacon with scrambled eggs. The place was not very busy considering it was a Saturday morning but idk perhaps there's a glutton of breakfast establishments? The place was clean and service was decent. Just had to ask for the 2nd cup of coffee. Maybe people just don't like to come downtown cause it's not the nicest But it's not I felt unsafe. It's all fine. Food had potential, but service and handling of a serious issue were disappointing. I had high hopes for The White Apron, and the food initially seemed promising--but the overall experience was very disappointing. I ordered the eggs benedict with pork belly and, within a few bites, found a large eggshell in my meal. Unfortunately, no one checked on our table during the meal, so my plate sat untouched while my friend finished her breakfast. When we finally brought it to the server's attention, the response was underwhelming. I was asked where the eggshell came from, which was surprising given it was clearly in the dish. The plate was taken away, but there was no apology or offer to remake the meal. At the end, I was still charged 50% for a meal I barely ate. I completely understand that mistakes can happen in a busy kitchen--but how they're handled makes all the difference. In this case, the lack of acknowledgment and resolution left a poor impression. I hope the restaurant takes feedback like this seriously and improves their service moving forward. read more

Very disappointing and unacceptable service. My family and I went for brunch at approximately 2:00 PM, based on the restaurant's website stating that it is open until 3:00 PM. We placed our orders around 2:05 PM, and our food was delivered shortly after. At approximately 2:15 PM, while we were still actively eating, staff began sweeping and mopping the floors using a strong cleaning agent with an overwhelming chemical odor (similar to bleach). This made the dining environment extremely unpleasant and inappropriate while customers were still present. I immediately informed our server that we were still eating and that the restaurant was advertised as open. I was then told that the restaurant actually closes at 2:30 PM and that the doors were opened to "air out" the smell. This response was not acceptable and did nothing to address the situation. There were several staff members present, yet no meaningful explanation or effort was made to accommodate us or acknowledge the inconvenience. Beginning heavy cleaning with strong chemicals while customers are still dining is unprofessional and demonstrates a lack of regard for guest experience. Overall, this was a frustrating and poorly handled experience that fell well below expectations. read more

My wife have been wanting to give this place a try for a while now as her co-workers raves about this place, so we came here to try. We came around 1:30pm so there was ample tables available. Here was what we ordered... I got the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich for $15. It doesn't come with any sides and its just a sandwich around 8 inches with swiss cheese, bell peppers, onions on chopped up ribeye cut I believe. There was some juice flowing down on the bun. I ate it a bit later while it rested but it was decent but a bit dry. My wife got the breakfast sausage, home fries, toast meal for $14. The home fries were made well compared to others and it was seasoned nicely. The sausage here was more plump and bigger than most brunch places we've tried and the toast was well buttered up! Will drop by for another future visit. This establishment is right on the eye on closing and ready to leave by 3pm! lol read more

We had a day off from work and were looking for a quick and easy greasy breakfast diner. We were on the way to the Oshawa Centre for some Christmas shopping and found this place on Yelp, highly rated. We decided to drop by, and we had perfect timing as there was no line up. Parking is paid street parking, but you'll really only dine for an hour or so, so we didn't mind paying. There are lots of cool shops and a market across the street. Upon walking in, we pretty much had free reign on where to sit as there were only a few other tables occupied. Lots of great sunlight shining into the restaurant during brunch hours. The service was excellent. The food was excellent, and came in large portions. The coffee was hot, fresh, and our server ensured our cups were never empty. We tried the panko coated French Toast, as it seemed to be a hit on Yelp. If you are looking to try something new, I would recommend! We will definitely come back here. read more

Good value brunch spot 3.5 stars- the menu is quite extensive, not too busy and food came quick, The portion sizes are quite big so hence the prices which is a bit higher than other diner spots. Coffee wasn't very good I only had a few sips so that was disappointing. It was a bit bitter not sure if it's because it's near closing time or just the beans they use. I've been there many times-their crusted French toast with real maple syrup is legendry and freakin' awesome! This visit I went with a Western Omelette. This came with addictive sauté home fries, toast, and baked beans (optional if you like) . The omelette was massive! Made with 4 eggs!, this is a protein builder and would fill any empty stomach. It was quickly gone. Fasting off 12 hours will do that. Their club sandwiches with fries are perfect diner fare as is the Beef Dip and The Cuban. There is something for everyone. First time back post-pandemic and it was nice to see the place bustling. This is a cozy family-run diner and the perfect place for breakfast. Staff are friendly and took care of our order right away, including my request for extra crispy bacon. I had the eggs and bacon with two pancakes on the side (in hindsight should have got only one as it's large portions) and my partner had the Uber Breakfast. Expect a lineup on the weekends. The place was packed, no wonder the food is great with large portions. Even though there was a line, you didn't feel like you were being rushed to eat your meal. Having been to most of the breakfast places in Durham, I never thought of visiting downtown Oshawa for breakfast! But I'm very glad that I did. This place is a gem. Location is not that great and it's in an area of Oshawa that is kinda run down. But don't let that deter you! Service was just excellent, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The decor was really nice..the place actually had some character which is hard to create these days in new construction. Finally the food. Having read reviews from fellow yelpers and given that it was a Saturday I decided to try the crab cakes benedict, it was amazing highly recommend. When I first walked in I wasn't sure if I was to order at the counter and then sit down, or if this was a restaurant with servers. I was quickly greeted and sat by a window, answering my questions of how to order. I opted for an old favourite, Eggs Benedict with peameal bacon. Each order comes with potatoes and beans; I skipped out on the latter. The potatoes had great flavour, but I was disappointed that they were not crispy at all. The hollandaise was thick and rich and the eggs cooked to medium perfection. There was too much sauce on top of the eggs for my taste, though I'm sure many people would have been happy with the generous serving. Overall, this is a great choice for breakfast in Durham region. Had to quickly find a brunch spot while heading East and of course the first thing I did was did a Yelp search. This was one of the top rated that came up in my search and since they had Eggs Benny, had to check it out. Not too familiar with the area but I'm assuming that the place is at a primo spot. There's only street parking and even though we went on a Monday morning, was quite limited. And it's metered parking too. We were fortunate enough to find a spot but it was down the street. Looked like there was some grease and I can't figure out what else they could've added. Looked like melted butter or something but I know that's not really the norm for hollandaise sauce. Whatever it was, it was good. It also came with beans which were absolutely delicious. The house fries that came with it were also good. The entire plate itself lacked just a little bit of flavour but if you sprinkle enough pepper, it was really good. Would I make a trek out here again just to simply eat here? Most likely not. Maybe this is special for the area of Oshawa, but I've had so many better breakfasts at other breakfast spots (non-chain). I did notice this restaurant serving homeless people. When we sat down, the table next to us, there was a older lady who was gobbling down an oatmeal creation. She was paranoid and kept looking at us. These guys went a little above what you would expect from a restaurant. Good prices, great food quality, and all cooled exceptionally well. The lunch menu is a little small, but totally fine as this place shuts down at 3. A complete lack of grease in the joint, more than likely due to the fact that bacon isn't on the menu - only peameal.
