    Afternoon tea
    Sabrina C.

I had attended an evening event and afternoon tea, both were fun and I would definitely return for another! First event I went to was for Fall, and we decorated our own pumpkins! Included in the event was a photo area in the outdoor patio, a personal charcuterie, a drink, and paints and decorations for the pumpkins. Food was extra for the event. My friend and I had a great time! It was honestly more fun than I thought it would be! Space is cozy but perfect for a drink and bite. We ended up getting an Apple Caramel Mimosa Mocktail, and we split Pumpkin Pie French Toast and Bacon Apple Grilled Cheese. Both dishes were amazing, not overly sweet, and my drink was phenomenal! Second event I went to was the Afternoon Tea. The tables were prepared with cute teacups, and the food was brought out with tiers of sweets and savouries. Our server also shared that several of the sweets like the blondies and macarons were sourced by other local bakers, supporting local partners. It was another fantastic date, and I'm excited to bring my daughter next visit!

came in on a Sunday morning and had to wait about an hour for a table for 2, though we were quoted a half hour wait. They don't take reservations but you can hop over to Jacked Up Coffee across the street for a coffee while you wait. We got a fried chicken eggs benny ($21), bacon eggs benny ($15) and a grapefruit and orange juice ($3 each). The service here is great and the space is super cute. I'd give the food a 3.5* but bumping it up for the service. My dish had good seasoning but the fried chicken was dry and the eggs were a medium-hard poach. My friend's eggs benny was nice and runny so it's probably just a timing/execution issue they can work on if one dish is going to be waiting on the pass. I'd come back to try their sweet options since I saw some tables enjoying a beautiful plate of blueberry pancakes. Street parking available on the side streets and Brock street.

    Pancake bacon dippers

Went for breakfast on a Saturday. Pros: beautiful decor, welcoming wait staff, interesting menu. Cons: much of the food is not made to order, which is a HUGE con. We noticed that the pancakes, waffles, and French toast were pre made and they'd just heat them up with an order. As such, the food definitely did not taste fresh. We ordered the bacon pancake dippers and they were too greasy and over-battered for our liking. The loaded hash browns were just toaster hash browns. We really wanted to like this place especially since the staff is so nice and it's such a lovely place but sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning.

    Cute little place

Issue was with portion size - ridiculously small. Main dishes are appetizer servings size - I know we're going through rough times - but don't rip your guests off... we stopped by McDonalds afterwards :( Underwhelmed - underserved.

Each dish has elevated twist, and the price is so reasonable and even generous for the quality. Cocktails are excellent (lots of line-ups). They also serve nice choices of local craft beers on tap. We ordered: (Food) #Cast Iron Baked Brie fresh baked brie with house-made wild berry compote, candied pecans, prosciutto, garlic crostini $17 : This served as perfect appetizer for 3 of us. Enjoyable. Variety of ways to enjoy the baked brie. #Canadian Striploin 7oz striploin, garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables: We tried different & great steak dish here before, and this one is also EXCELLENT - the on-point seasonings, perfectly med-rare. Roasted veggies and mashed potato leave its own flavour and texture with right amount of seasonings. #Stuffed Mushroom Ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, tossed in a beurre blanc sauce, topped with fresh Parmesan: I wished the ravioli itself had more mushroom-forward flavor, and the wrapper had more delicacy (in terms of thickness and texture). However, I loved the beurre Blanc sauce - it was foamy - making the butter-ly and creamy sauce feel light in the mouth. Nice hint of tangy-ness. #Herb Crusted Salmonwith garlic herb mashed potatoes, grilled seasonal vegetables, and beurre blanc sauce: The same sauce as ravioli, that matched with salmon well. (Cocktails) #Fig Fizz: With Durham distillery Gin, Raspberry Liqueur, fig jam, lemon juice, honey syrup, soda # Lavender cosmopolitan # Passion Prosecco Martini # Spicy Hibiscus Margarita All the cocktails were presented beautifully. Today's highlight was Spicy Hibiscus Margarita. (Dessert) Chocolate Espresso Martini Cake rich vanilla cake, mascarpone, house-made chocolate espresso mousse $10: Essentially, tiramisu. lol. Nicely presented. This place is versatile for us. Just for snack, just for cocktails, just for local beer, and elevated food experiences. Promising satisfying experience in each occasion. So blessed to have this place in my neighbourhood.

But..... my gosh. The dishes looked nice. My niece said her food was okay. Her cousin said his food was overcooked. My dish was trash, my gosh, I couldn't stomach the taste. The salmon was tough, tasted bad, rank. The seasoning was weird and didn't pair well. It had some kinda spice that tasted odd. I don't even know what to say about it. But later that night I was throwing up well into the morning. I only eat possibly 3-4 small bites, most of the dish was left back. I still tipped and didn't complain as I just wanted the kids to have a nice night without arguing with whoever. As I write this I am reminded of the disgusting taste. NEVER again for that dish! Now that I think about it I honestly shouldn't have tipped. Paying for that dish was already above and beyond!

The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, and when we moved to our table our server was also great. Cocktails were fabulous and the ambiance of the place is very nice. My wife ordered this vegetarian squash dish and she loved it. I ordered the steak and the cook was perfect but I found the sauce overpowering. It's personal preference, I like my steak with just salt and pepper without sauce. My fault for not reading the menu correctly. The sides of purée and veggies were great. Overall KB hits it out of the ballpark and is so much better than the chain upscale eateries.

Every dish I had was very good. For this meal I ordered something different, the shrimp stuffed catfish. Never had catfish so this dish was calling me. The sauce was very tasty and had a nice kick of heat to finish. Catfish was good and the shrimp stuffing was more like a meat ball texture and not really whole shrimp like I thought. Service was very good. Our waitress was chatty and was joking around with us which was fun. Ambiance is more on the rustic side almost had a saloon feel, partly because of the old building but it was quaint. There was plenty of free parking in the rear which was convenient. All in KB is a good option if you are looking for an above average restaurant in the east end.
