We heard about this place on Durham Regional Eats Facebook page and decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. This place is a classic little diner. We went for a late breakfast. It was simple, fast, hot and delicious. I ordered the lumberjack with French toast....amazing. My wife had the vegetarian omelette with a side oh hollandaise sauce, again delicious...but the star of any breakfast at a diner are always the home fries...and these were some of the best we've ever had! The service was attentive and cheerful! They worked as a team. And the coffee was good too! Can't wait to try their lunch menu. Go to PJ's

"PJs has a tiny storefront on a strip plaza - took us a few minutes to find it as their sign says "Restaurant" in large bold letters followed by "All Day Breakfast". PJ's is a small, cursive afterthought placed on top. " "The exterior made us feel as if we never left our budget hotel room - beige and brown tones, some muted green, laminate all over, clean and generic. " "The omelettes were large and hearty with a little piece of orange garnishing their tops and a generous side of home-made potatoes." A few bites of our full experience..

Not too extravagant and what you would expect. Hot beef sandwich seemed to do the job but was a little past is prime. Breakfast is a sure shot. Club sandwich looked good.

If you are looking for a quick, inexpensive breakfast in Whitby, PJs is a town standard. Located in a tiny strip mall between an MMA dojo and RBC Royal Bank, PJs has everything you need for a basic breakfast, including friendly waitresses, quick service, hot and decent food, and bar stools if the 15 or so booths are full. Lots of seniors in the morning, usually a sign of value.

Had great diner-style food here. The toasted westerns are the best! Great little casual place, such places sadly disappearing.

I have been going to Mel's for decades. The food is delicious. I am a huge fan of the wraps with…read moresoup or coleslaw, both made fresh in-house. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and totally professional. The restaurant gets VERY busy at times, but the servers are as efficient as is reasonable. We even invited our favourite bartender to our wedding! The decor is 50s diner right down to the tabletop jukebox selectors and the restaurant is always clean. The main eating area is reasonably wheelchair accessible; the "lounge" is three steps up, for those of you who need to know. The patio is lovely. Even though it faces a parking lot, Melanie (yes, she's real) puts flowers and other plants all over to create a welcoming space. There's live music on Friday nights with lots of great people to chat with. I met my husband at Mel's back in the 90s and I just celebrated my retirement there a few weeks ago. Melanie Pringles isn't just a restaurant. It's "that" place--the spot regulars flock to for lunches with friends, Sunday dinners with the kids, drinks on a Friday night, like the spots you see in sit-coms, just with booths instead of a couch. In my opinion, 5 stars isn't enough.

The decor is still the same, old school diner but I think the food has changed a bit. Portion size…read moreseems larger than the last time we went. Kids meal were a good portion and the salad my wife had was massive. My wings and ribs were so good, maybe a wrong choice on the dry seasoning on the wings but it was still enjoyable. Always a good choice for good atmosphere, great service and fair value.

We ordered eggs benedict with by far the best Hollandaise sauce you can get. The poached eggs were medium with lots of yolk to spread on the peameal bacon and english muffin. The shredded potato hashbrown is addictive and massive portions. The baked beans were nice and warm to compliment your breakfast. I ordered the 3 eggs over easy with 3 sausages and 3 bacon. They actually serve 4 eggs which I assume they are using medium sized eggs. That's OK as the extra makes up for the smaller eggs. You get a choice of toast ( white, whole wheat or rye) along with shredded potato hashbrowns or home fries. My mother-in-law ordered the Western Omelet with ham and onion. She really enjoyed the dish and she managed to eat almost half of the dish. The coffee is bottomless and the service is very friendly. I suggest dressing up for the cold weather because you might have to lineup outside the restaurant. I don't think they take reservations and it's first come first serve.

The latest visit was as good as the first one. Same decor, everything still spotless, wait staff friendly and fast. Due to us missing Thanksgiving we had turkey. Yes real turkey not processed roll. Large portions as usual, house made gravy. Mmmm. Close to the 401 easy to get to parking on site. Excellent choice in the menu. And the house made rice pudding for dessert or strawberry pie. A must visit. Pricing very reasonable. Very busy during peak hours. Go!

Our server was rough around the edges, very short and to the point. Food was good. A nice portion sized deli sandwich and crispy, golden cut fries. This is why you're coming to Teddy's and the cooks are making it happen. The decor is horribly dated, the restaurant hasn't been updated since the 90s. It's like looking at a parody restaurant from a movie with all the sports and tchotchke memorabilia on the walls from years gone by. It's in a desperate need of an update. My biggest gripe was the server taking our deserts order while in the middle of vacuuming the restaurant because they were closing soon and she obviously wanted to go home. It doesn't make you feel very welcome. They also locked the doors and told us we had to leave from the side door instead of the main entrance. I don't know if I'll be back, it doesn't feel like they want me to come back.
