Expanded menu with plenty of choices, fresh delicious salads, all made to order and there are always three specials to choose from. Prepared quickly by excellent chef's who are personable and friendly. I love Wimpy's! The service is quick, the atmosphere is friendly and comfortable. And it's not overpriced! read more

There is something so nostalgic about this diner. The red booths and classic diner decor is straight out of a Grease adaptation. I like that it serves food late, so we were able to get a late dinner here after a meeting nearby. I had the fried chicken and waffles which was perfect. Crispy crunch chicken on a perfectly made waffle ready to drown in syrup. My partner had their classic burger, which features an extra long patty that drapes out of the burger on both sides. Substituted for waffle fries for the perfect burger and fries combo. Staff are friendly and helpful, even after a long day of work. We must have been their last customers of the day but we were welcomed like we were their first! read more

This is a local Wimpy's that is very much a favourite of the local community. Many regular's who are greeted by name or are very familiar with the staff. We've been here several times and food and service are very consistent. It is very much a family restaurant. Menu consists of all the breakfast favourites and also includes items for lunch and dinner (everything from steak to liver and onions to salmon and pasta). We've only been for brunch which can be very busy. Wait is usually 10-15 minutes. Restaurant is bright and clean and the owner seems to be a big fan of superheroes. There is a life size iron man by the front door and the interior includes murals of favourite superheroes. Good place to stop for a meal if you are north of Yonge (past Finch). read more

I was surprised at how crowded it was for lunch midweek. We were lucky to get a table. But the service was excellent. Our server was pleasant, efficient and came by several times to check on us. The menu has comfort foods like all-day breakfasts, burgers and sandwiches. The crispy chicken sandwich was very crispy made with breaded white meat and too much mayo for my liking. After scraping off the excess it was fine. It came with lettuce, tomato slices and coleslaw topped with a slice of pickle on the side. The coleslaw was just the right amount of creaminess. For an extra $4.99 you can turn it into a combo with a soft drink and either fries, soup or their house salad. I regret choosing the salad (trying to eat something healthy) made with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. It tasted bland. My friend ordered the fries extra crispy but they weren't crispy at all. They still tasted good to me. The décor is retro and eclectic with a giant action figure near the entrance and a fun pink neon sign that says "feed me bacon and tell me I'm pretty". Wimpy's is a good bet if you're looking for a comfortable, casual restaurant in Thornhill. There's ample parking too. read more

Recently relocated, this Wimpy's moved from shopped on don mills to Yonge & Royal Orchard. Took over the Steve's that was here before. A great idea! It's bright, clean and refreshed! A great diner for breakfast or lunch! Great for families. read more

The fish was great as usual, however when adding in salad for a fee they failed to state that the chips would be left out of the order. So fish n chips expected became just fish; very disappointing. Also the salad came dressed and was a bit soggy and overdressed; not as expected. read more

Always consistent. Good food. Good service. Comfortable ambiance. Best pancakes I've had along with the coffee which is nice and strong and the cup is never empty. I sat in this review for a while because Wimpys prices have jarringly gone up the past few years, with a bit of a hit on quality on some items The atmosphere has a fund vibe, with Marvel pictures and nick nacks stuck in the wall. We came for breakfast a few weeks back, and ordered a breakfast of eggs over and corned beef hash. The little guy liked the corned beef hash and eggs, which came with a sliver if orange and potatoes. I had the standard breakfast with potatoes and turkey bacon. The potatoes served were a bit under and starchy, and at about $10.00 for a generic breakfast, plus $4.00 coffee you would expect a notch above. Overall, I would suggest trying to come out for the early bird. A once in a while destination for the kids. -Zuk read more

My friend and I went to Wimpy's not too long ago, looking for a casual spot to have a late lunch. When we walked in, I felt like I'd been there before, even though I'm sure it was my first time going. It has a bit of a comforting, homey feel to it. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there were only a few staff members working, and a very limited number of customers were allowed for indoor dining. I think their maximum capacity at the time was 10 people. Our server was super friendly and helpful when we had questions about the menu. We opted to share an order of wings to start and then I had a Wimpy's burger and my friend ordered a turkey dinner. I'll start by saying the portions are HUGE. The wings came with a small mountain of fries - even between the two of us we couldn't finish them. My burger patty was so big, I cut it in half and ended with a double burger. I had to take half of it home to finish later. I like that you can select your toppings and sauces for the burger, too. I usually go for the standard lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles and this time I added cheese and bacon. Why not? As for the turkey dinner, it was served with mashed potatoes, green beans and lots of gravy. I'm pretty sure my friend got two more meals out of that because she could barely make a dent in it after the wings and fries. I'll probably go back to try a few more menu items, but the burger is definitely worth a repeat order! read more

Have eaten at this location several times and the food was good. But had the fish and chips dinner today and it was the worst batter on the fish I have ever had. It was dry and hard on the outside. The fish inside was undercooked. other than that the overall service was great. read more

Came here for a late brunch and ordered the peameal benedict. It came with three poached eggs covered in hollandaise sauce, two slices of peameal bacon, an english muffin, and homefries. It was my first time having peameal bacon which tasted like a rougher version of fried ham. Not sure if I would order this again as I'm not a huge fan of ham. The homefries were a tad too oily, but a little ketchup helped cut down on the grease. However, the eggs were poached perfectly! Those runny egg yolks were scrumptious with the english muffin. Ended up having to take the leftovers home as the portions were so huge. Overall, super filling meal in a cozy, retro-looking diner! read more

I appreciate the diner for its thoughtful decor featuring vintage signage and cozy booths, however the food is mostly average. I ordered the corned beef hash benedict w/home fries and a side of pancakes. Wouldn't recommend the corned beef hash as it was just ok, but the home fries were good. The pancakes were also decent, but nothing special. They have a lot of menu options and the serving staff is friendly. It's a good spot if you need a quick diner fix! read more

old fashion vintage style diner. I got the egg benedict with chicken and waffles. It was 2 medium rare porched eggs drizzled with their house signature hollandaise sauce, served on top of deep fried crispy chicken cutlet and waffle. It was an unique combo of savoury breakfast and paired well together. I was super surprised of how filling Wimpy's meals were, cuz all came in big big portion. Overall, I love how amazing their throwback vintage decors are, and the vibe of the diner. If you have never been to a wimpy diner, I highly recommend going to try one. If you have been to a wimpy before, this one still has just as good of food and service as nearly any other. The burger I noticed still is quit large, but somehow seems drier these days when I go. The onion rings remain large, crispy and tasty and the other half loves the all day breakfast variety. Wimpys has an excellent selection of American food, with burgers, sandwiches, breakfast, dinner and everything in between. My first experience with wimpys was actually at this location, and this location actually doubled in size in the past few years as they took over the space next door which is a welcome addition. They still bring in crowds of all ages for breakfast to dinner and seem very consistent through out their franchises and this location. It's my comfort food go to when I'm in the area and looks to remain so for the foreseeable future read more

Its Friday night. I was craving something greasy. I grabbed my cellphone and looked for a nearby restaurant and set the filter to 4+ stars rating, $ affordable, and of course free WiFi. Well Yelp suggested this place for me. I love the decor. Its so old fashion you might think you just stepped out of a DeLorean after driving 88mph! (Speaking of, its 2015 already!). Now to the food. The menu is huge and has pretty much everything you want from a diner. I ordered their famous burger (picture attached). It came with ketchup, mustard, lettuce, pickles, onions. The patty was too big for the bun which is awesome. Meat was tasty. Veggies were fresh. Absolutely no complains. Service was quick and friendly. I am surely a fan of this diner. Next time I will try their breakfast. read more

The food here is decent. It's not the best, but it's definitely not bad. But there's something about this place that's just... nice. The staff are all friendly, the owner seems like a nice person, and the service and food is always quick and filling. I don't know why I like this place so much... it's really just a very casual diner-like restaurant with decent food. But I like it. They have expanded their premises since I was here last. The original area has the booths, plates, posters and the non-functioning juke boxes. The new dining room has murals and a more open atmosphere. Wimpy's does a good job of representing junk food in a diner style atmosphere. The clientele was a mix of older folks and teenagers. This must be marketing and business gold! The menu has all the staples. They have burgers, sandwiches, all-day breakfast and anything a parlour should offer. I had the Canadian bacon and eggs and it was done right. Unfortunately, in lieu of real mustard they only have the French's crap. My friend had French toast and liked it. The brunette waitress was polite and kind and the water refills came quickly. read more

Arriving at any Wimpy's no matter what the time of day, the question in my mind is always "Do I do all day Breakfast OR the burger"? Yes of course they have a scrumptious menu prepared to grease any spoon into submission, but for my money its either a) or b). For those of you whom have never had the pleasure of visiting a Wimpy's (aptly named after the cheap, scheming burger Barron friend of Pop-eye), its the perfect place for a quick meal any time of day. The staff is warm, local and usually reminds me of my Mom or a cool sweetheart aunt. The décor in my mind is the tops, small malt-shop style booths with tons of quirky road, vintage coca-cola and movie signs, clutter the wall amidst 1950s memorabilia (looks like a James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and Elvis fan club had a field day in here). Aesthetics and ambiance aside, lets get back to the real draw here: Foods! Ill be sure to review the breakfast menu on a follow up review some other time, but my lunch yesterday made me full, sleepy, and smiley and I must tell you all about it. I ordered the Wimpy's Famous Hamburger Combo (ordered a Coke and a Greek Salad) w/ Bacon and Cheddar cheese on top. The burger naturally comes with all the fixin's: lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, may, mustard, relish, but none of that matters when the burger arrives. An 8 inch long OVAL burger pattie protrudes a solid 2.5 inches on either side of the already sizeable sesame seed toasted bun. The SEP (standard eating procedure) for these burgs is to nibble your way around the meat until you hit bun and work away from there. I've near failed at this bodacious badass burger on several occasions, but always have found the will to push through and pack it in. The last item I wanna rap about is the unexpected value of their Greek salad. It was the first time I had ordered it, and aside from not properly preparing the iceberg lettuce (it was a tad chunky for my liking), the portion was hearty and there was so much feta cheese that my bowl looked like a feta cheese salad sundae. Delish. Lastly, because Wimpy was such a cheapskate it would be a sin to make his signature meal pricey. Total meal cost was around $13 +tip (thats with adding cheese and bacon) Dining here will never leave you spouting Wimpy's once famous line "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today" NOM :) read more

Don't know if it is true, but someone has told me this is the first Wimpy's in Toronto. The decor is an adorable 60's and 70's feel, including the booths. I ordered a Striploin Steak dinner because I felt like having a cheap steak. In other words, quality was not my number one concern. The steak meat was okay, diner style. As expected, medium rare became medium well. The home fries were good not great. This local gem has average steak for a diner (below average for a steakshouse of course) but exceptional services. I was served by 2 waitresses. Both were diner-style friendly and talked to me like I were a regular (I am not). They took my order while I waited for a table, so I could sip on an ice tea while I waited. I was never rushed out even though there was a line waiting for tables. I am going to give 3 stars for cheap steak plus an extra 0.5 star for services. Since I am sure this will be a 4-starred joint for all day breakfast, I boldly go 4 stars anyway. read more

Saturday morning breakfast at Wimpy's was definitely a nice experience. This franchise on Yonge St in Thornhill was convinient for our family to hit up. The place is quite small, but cozy, with american vintage decor posted all over the walls, along with the old style countertop bar/ bar stools. However do try and come here earlier if for Breakfast or you can find yourself waiting, but not too long. The service we had was very efficient, and up-beat! after all this diner is always packed, so hence its needed lol... Now the works! after contemplation, I resorted to having their French Toast breakfast! wow! were the portions more than enough. Two big slices French Toast, three sausages, eggs, and fruits on the side. I was able to smooch some potatos off my gramps plate, and yum was it good...In terms of coming back to Wimpy's, no need to think twice about it! I was extremely satisfied with everything, the food, service, affordability, and ambience! read more

Amazing service, super warm and attentive staff that goes above and beyond. Food is good. Coffee could be a bit better.

My new breakfast go to spot. By breakfast I mean I want to eat everything on the menu at all times of day. It's a small spot and always seems to be filled with happy couples, families, kids and adorable grandparents. Staff is super sweet and helpful and my coffee cup is always full. I've tried: - poutine - full of cheese and gravy. It's savory and filling and delicious. Definitely recommend. - fish and chips but I never actually get the chips, just the fish. So crispy and soft and just yum. I order it every time I come. - the ultimate club sandwich. Meh. It's ok, there's a lot of bacon and the portion is huge but I don't know how I feel about the chicken breast in it (turkey..?). It's a bit dry, whatever it is. Comes with coleslaw like the other sandwiches. Coleslaw is kind of soggy. I'd give this one a 3 out of 5. - eggs are done to perfection. The Benedict is a must have but I'm sad they don't have smoked salmon :( Overall, huge fan. Will keep coming back and trying to eat my way through the huge and overwhelming menu! read more

Found this place in December 2011 while visiting Toronto and wanted a better option than overpriced breakfast at the hotel. Cute little diner with retro décor and friendly staff. We all opted for breakfast and were pleased. Being from the US South, we were a bit confused as to what 'peameal bacon' was, but our waitress was happy to explain. I loved their home fries - nice and dark on the outside. My omelette was good, but nothing mind-blowing. Overall - just what we were looking for. This is THE ORIGINAL store that the franchise was modeled on! Before they became a chain, their burgers were REAL homestyle, (like ones you might make at home from ground beef) not pureed pressed patties like they serve now. **There was NEVER A BETTER BURGER!** Otherwise, this is where the huge servings and motif were copied from! It's a really small place, lots of 'regulars", and they had daily dinner specials. The cooks were the owners! This was at LEAST 15 years ago, and really needs an updated review. 'fact I think I'll make it a point of getting back there real soon. P.S. I AM SPEECHLESS THAT THIS ICON HAS NEVER BEEN REVIEWED! read more
