Steaks & Frites! Onions & Mushrooma
    Rebecca L.

Overall, the experience was okay but not great. I am not sure I will be back. And in reflection, 1 doubt it. There was nothing about the experience that made me want to go back. I went for my friend's baby shower. I had order steak and frites. When ordering the waitress asked if I wanted gravy, mushrooms and onions. I asked if the gravy cost money, because usually mushrooms and onions are complimentary. She said no the gravy is extra, so I said no. The steak had a wonderful char, but the plate overall wasn't anything to write home about. I couldn't believe the amount of mushrooms I got, which I thought was complimentary. Service was direct and to the point and lacked any element of consultation. When my bill came, I couldn't believe my eyes. Onions $4Mushroom $5. I could have got an appetizer for that. I was confused why she wouldn't reassure me about the price at the start. When I spoke to her when paying my bill, she said it was on the menu. I must have missed it. She still should have reassured me. I didn't leave satisfied and not sure if I'll return.

We went for a Sunday dinner tonight at The Brock House in Whitby They are on Brock St between Rossland and Hwy 2 Dundas on the west side The restaurant is a nice sit down family style type atmosphere, that offers a nice variety of dishes from dinners to pizza to handhelds We started with the table bread that came with a maple thyme butter It was really good Bread was warm and the butter was a nice complement to it My wife had the winter salad with chicken The salad came with beets, Brussels sprouts, candied walnuts and goat cheese She enjoyed it I had the pork schnitzel dinner that came with mashed potatoes and veggies It was really good Our server Amanda along with the variety of servers that helped were super friendly We really liked the experience and will definitely come back again

I love good food, good variety, good service, and good value. The Brock House in Whitby offers all of that in their Sunday Brunch Buffet. My friends and I recently enjoyed this offering and really stuffed ourselves! The omelette station, with live cooking was a very popular start for many diners. Omelettes are cooked to order, with your choice of ingredients. Despite the chefs handling four orders at a time, this station got backed up a bit but was worth waiting for. A carvery was right next to the omelette station, serving up roast beef. Freshly made pizzas shared space with the carvery, offering a variety of toppings. I liked the light crispy crust. The main buffet station had chafing pans with lots of choices, including bacon, eggs, potatoes, pasta and more, as well as waffles. It was all fresh and delicious! A simple salad bar was nearby. The main bar was repurposed for desserts and there were lots of choices, including cookies, brownies, and fresh fruits. At CDN$23.90 per person, this was a really good value, with more delicious choices than one can consume. The service was excellent, with food stations being replenished frequently, used plates being cleared efficiently, and water glasses always filled - all done with a smile! Check them out! Reservations are highly recommended!

Cozy, rustic yet modern vibe, breakfast and steakhouse. Lots of variety: salad, eggs, sausage, bacon, hash, roast, pizza, fresh cooked omelette station, toaster, fruit, and desserts! My only complaint is the scrambled eggs, which didn't look very appealing or have a nice soft texture, but aside from that, everything else was pretty good! Service was fantastic, friendly, and attentive.

This is a great place! Food, staff, and the restaurant itself were all very nice. It's got a little bit of an upscale feel inside, but still remains casual enough. I couldn't help but notice all of the front end staff looked the exact same The restaurant was surprisingly huge inside! They had lots of tables at 8pm on a Friday night. They mentioned that they were very busy on Sunday and already had 200 people with their reservations. I had the raspberry lemonade, a very nice mocktail to start off. Then the bruschetta- some of the best I've had The short rib dinner & yorkie - delicious: my partner cleaned his plate haha - the chocolate cake ($14), dense, not worth the money. I prefer light and fluffy cake, this one wasn't for us Overall a great first experience despite the child nearby transfixed on her iPad that was playing videos loudly

Prime rib was missing something...maybe a touch more seasoning

We come here often and it hasn't changed which is good and bad. I always get the prime rib and it is fantastic. Great portions, flavours and amazing french fries. The horseradish was a little weak, wish it had more punch. Bruschetta had too much sauce- which was a little strong. Service was slow for some reason, the kitchen must have been backed up. What I noticed was the he ambiance is getting a little old. It looks a bit weathered and could use a refresh. But on the food side, it is good quality - good value.

The menu here has a great amount of variety so we had a tough time deciding what to order. We started with mussels in a curry cream sauce. We weren't sure how mussels, curry sauce, and fries could work together, but they pulled it off flawlessly. We got a big portion and it tasted amazing. My partner ordered the slow braised boneless beef short rib and it was great. The beef, potatoes, and vegetables were all very flavourful. The beef was a little over seasoned but still very enjoyable. I ordered the cajun salmon and really liked it. I loved the mix of vegetables and beans it came with and they offered a wide variety of flavours. We had a really great experience here and would definitely return, but if I had to complain I'd say we found the service a little slow. We waited a long time for our appetizer and the waitressed apologized, so hopefully we'll have quicker service the next time we dine here.

known for their prime rib, it was perfectly cooked and complemented by delicious sides that round out the meal. the tbh burger was equally as delicious, with a juicy patty and fresh toppings nestled in a soft yet sturdy bun that makes each bite a true delight!

    Cadillac Negroni - amazing!!
    Sandra N.

The Brock House was lovely! My husband and I had been pre-COVID only to be called away, before our food arrived, to pick up our daughter. At that time we took our apps to go and vowed to make a return. Our return visit happened on Sept 6 - it was my birthday dinner and it did not disappoint! I had the boneless short ribs, our daughter had the meat lovers pizza and my husband enjoyed the special of surf and turf pasta. The food was delicious, hot, portions were on target, and the prices were great for the quality we received! Our server was lovely and attentive and the bartender made a mean cocktail - Cadillac Negroni. I meant to take pics and post but honestly the food came to the table and we couldn't help but dig in. I did however get a photo of my drink lol. We will definitely be back for more!

I let her know that I had a weird food suggestion. I asked her if she'd like to go to The Keg. I saw a veggie shepherd's pie on the menu. I was intrigued. My friend is vegan. I'm suggesting that we go to a steakhouse. Luckily, she said yes. I did a search. I found this one in Oshawa, which is roughly midway between Peterborough and Markham. We met last Friday at around 6:15 pm. It's a part of Oshawa Centre, but on its own structure-wise, away from the physical mall, across from Shoppers Drug Mart and Hudson's Bay. I rarely go out on Friday nights. I didn't look to see whether we could do a reservation. Instead, we just showed up to try our luck. I parked somewhat close to the main entrance. My friend arrived ten minutes later. We met up and walked in. We approached the reception area. I asked for a table for two. The woman said that seating at the bar would take 40 minutes. It would be a 1.5-hour wait for one in the dining room. We went with the former. I left my name with the woman. She asked whether we were going to wait inside or outside. We went with the former. I got a buzzer. I liked the strawberry-cucumber-infused water in front of us. I should have got a glass, but we were talking so much that it didn't cross my mind. I don't think we waited 40 minutes. I saw the buzzer go crazy with lights. The female host grabbed the buzzer from me and led us to the bar. Service was excellent. We had the best female server who was attentive and friendly. We got the following items: - Sourdough bread (complimentary) - Tropical spritz (non-alcoholic) - Diet Pepsi (me) - Onion rings - Veggie shepherd's pie - Mini crème brûlée We got water to start. Considering how much we were talking and catching up, it was needed! We both ordered the tropical spritz. It had alcohol-free pineapple liqueur, passion fruit, non-alcoholic sparkling wine, soda, and a charred pineapple on top. This drink was delicious and so refreshing. The charred pineapple was yummy. I wanted everything, but in a larger size. I ended up getting a diet Pepsi. I needed another cold, refreshing drink, but cheaper. This one hit the spot. My friend was hungry and had a hankering for onion rings. We got some as a starter. They were crispy on the outside. The onion rings were sweet. It came with a mayo dip. My friend got ketchup. Both condiments were perfect. Our shepherd's pie came out next. It came with a large mixed greens salad. This meal was divine. The shepherd's pie had lentils and lots of veggies. The gravy was yummy. I actually used the sourdough bread to it up. The mashed potatoes were perfect on top. I loved the mixed greens salad. Everything was crisp and fresh. The dressing was bright. The salad had pickled the onions. If they were sliced thinner, I would have enjoyed them more. The larger pickled onions still had that raw burn to them. Although we dined in the bar, we could still hear each other. It was great. The downside was that we were at a long table. A group of five folks sat on the opposite end and made the table rock as if were were on turbulent waters. I ended up shaking the table, which caught their attention to not do what they did. I shouldn't feel seasick eating at a table when I'm not on water. Sheesh! I felt like dessert and got a mini crème brûlée. It was the perfect portion. I wanted a bit of dessert. I got it here. I liked the contrast between the crispy sugary top part of the dessert that was fun to shatter, with the creamy custard layer underneath it. The orange slice was the perfect ending to my meal. We split the onion rings. It was cool not paying taxes for this meal. I wish it were the case all the time! We had belated Christmas presents to unwrap. It was funny that both the server and the manager asked if was a special occasion. We said no. Meanwhile, we had these gift bags for each other... haha! We spent almost three hours at this eatery. We used the washroom before we headed to our vehicles. The women's washroom is by the wine display. The washroom looked modern. The stall that I used was clean. I liked that there was a hook for my gift bag. There was plenty of parking at this eatery. I'm so glad that we met up here. It has vegan and vegetarian options. It was my first time not ordering a steak at The Keg. It was cool. The food and drinks were yummy and I had the best company with me. (56)

Chicken had a nice salty, herby rub it was tossed in. It was like all dressed or bbq chip seasoning on top of the chicken which was a bit addicting. Our chicken was a bit over cooked and slightly dry, but it was still great. My partner had the country fried steak. The food took a while to come out the kitchen so definitely not an option for rushed dinners, but atleast it's fresh. Personally, I want to support them, but I think it's not my kind of food. I hope they continue to be in business though and spread their good spirits and fun. I'll definitely swing by for ice cream once in a while.
