terrific cocktails and fish tacos, service is always excellent and the ambiance on the outdoor patio is always amazing!

Nice vibe in this restaurant, and the service was fantastic. Went on a Thursday night with no resos. Their booths were fully booked but there was tons of space at the bar. We shared the duck confit appetizer that was a special, as well as the fish tacos and BBQ wings. The fish tacos tasted the best. Although they were loaded, it could have used more fish. The duck confit was unexpected large in portion for $19 which was a nice surprise. It was also good, but could have used a starch to soak up the sauce as the dish tasted pretty salty without a starch. I guess if they added a starch it would have become an entree not an app so it could be tweaked better for an app. Finally the wings were very disappointing. There wasn't much meat and they were way overfried. It was so dry and not tossed in enough sauce. The ranch sauce was the best part of that plate. I ordered a cappuccino at the end and it was way too milky. I expected better since they have the whole espresso machine get up. Overall it was decent. If I'm in the area again I'd give it another shot. read more

Great looking gastropub on the Danforth with a wide variety of drinks for those who enjoy a nice drink. We came here on a Monday night so it wasn't busy at all. Servers were pretty attentive too but as much as I would love to give 5 stars, there were some kitchen glitches. read more

Incredible service from Naiomi! She checked on us multiple times. Also, as a vegan she coordinated a special dish for me. Thank you so much for an excellent experience! read more

Service at this place was pretty good considering the busy peak hours. The food I ordered was decent, I had gotten the seafood linguine pasta as well as calamari as appetizer for the table which was delicious. I'd recommend this gastropub for a quick bite with friends or a business meet with drinks. read more

Place was ok. I feel the menu has vastly changed and shrunk down since covid. Food is basic based on the price and is more of a bar hangout I felt. I ordered chicken wings for 20$ and it was meh. Not a bad place as it is always busy. But wish it could be more. read more

I really like the food here. It's always good and the ambiance is lovely and cozy. What I don't like is the service is very slow and the prices reflect the bougie neighborhood. Waaaay overpriced for what you get. read more

Great looking gastropub on the Danforth with a wide variety of drinks for those who enjoy a nice drink. We came here on a Monday night so it wasn't busy at all. Servers were pretty attentive too but as much as I would love to give 5 stars, there were some kitchen glitches. My girlfriend can't have any gluten so we ordered some gluten free calamari. As soon as our waiter brought it out, he noticed right away that it wasn't the gluten free option. Was great that he noticed it right away and also had it replaced right away. Next my girlfriend's order of Kale & Quinoa salad with steak came except it wasn't. The salad was incorrect but at least the steak and how it was prepped was. So he simply had the salad changed up. Our server was very apologetic and was nice so we weren't upset. The service was still very pleasant and we'd still come back. Just a little surprising to have these glitches considering it wasn't busy at all (we were 1 of maybe 3 or 4 other small parties). Gluten free options however, should be taken a little bit more serious. Thank you to our server (forgot his name) for immediately seeing this! Now let's get to the food review.... Gluten Free Calamari - Had the perfect texture and was lightly dusted with..something! Was a pretty generous portion that 3 of us were able to share it. This would taste great on one of their salads. 5/5. Smoked Chicken Wings - We ordered this with bbq sauce on the side and to be quite honest, you don't even need the sauce. The smoke was that flavourful and the wings were super crispy and juicy. Definitely one of the best smoked wings I've had. I'd go back just for this and have it as a main. 5/5. Arugula & Pear Salad - Definitely a must-try if you love arugula and goat cheese. I did notice however how much more spinach there was then arugula. Yes it's part of the plate but I personally would've preferred to have more arugula. Salad had some warm goat cheese which was so so good and creamy. The pear was a great part too and I usually don't care for any kind of fruit in my salad, regardless of how it's prepared. I think whether or not I can get more arugula, the salad was still very enjoyable that I would order it again. 5/5. Ribs - I had a wicked craving for ribs and I was thoroughly satisfied with their bbq smoked ribs which literally fell off the bone. I had some leftovers which I just had the other day and it tasted even better than that night. Definitely a must-have if you love meat. 5/5. Hand-Cut Fries - This came with our ribs and it was so good. I was so stuffed but couldn't help but keep on picking at the fries. Makes me want to try their poutine next time. 5/5. read more

It's funny when you encounter quality customer service, almost seems jarring! Staff was very kind, patient. Large selection of drink and food. The wings were from a smoker, big difference from fried. Jerk was the one I had. $16 for about 8 wings seems pricey, unless u have DEEPER pockets, in which case u won't mind. What stops it from repeat visits is; $31 (fair tip included) for one pint and wings=$$$$. read more

Good spot. Comfortable seating. Good food and good service. Came here for Easter dinner with my fiances family. I had wine, the boar pizza and the carrot cheesecake. We shared the calamari and shrimp and charcuterie to start. Calamari was awesome. Would 100% get again. My pizza was okay, I would order something else next time. Carrot cheesecake was so good we ordered a second and asked what bakery they got it from! The ribs and chicken looked amazing. I would probably opt for those next time. Overall, not my new favorite but definitely a good spot to come eat!! read more

Referred by many friends, wasn't quiet sure what to expect, but when you walk in its such I quiet and comfortable space, the service was spectacular, the young Irish waitress brought an extra feel of being somewhere far away and eccentric. SO glad I was in the area and got the chance to finally check out Local 1794! We stopped in for dinner on Thursday night and were surprised by how busy it was! Luckily, it didn't take long to get seated and put our orders in. I decided on the Wood-Fired Fungi pizza. Creamy sauce, Portobello, Cremini, Shiitake, Truffle oil and Fior di Latte. It was delicious! Lots of mushrooms, good garlicky flavour, nice chewy crust and the truffle oil made the mushrooms taste richer and meatier. A dash of hot oil and this pizza sang! I wasn't sure if the pizza would be big enough for two hungry people to share, so I also ordered a side of hand-cut fries. They were excellent! As you c an see from the photo I posted, the fries were golden-y brown, crisp on the outside and soft in the inside... just the way I like them! I would have loved them in a poutine but sadly Local 1794's gravy is beef-based. I am hoping Management will see this review and consider offering a mushroom-based option!!! All in all, we left very full and very happy and we'll will be back! read more

I have been twice now for brunch. I love it.. It has a cool old school vib with a ton of old pics of Toronto all over the walls. I can't compare other eggs benedict because this was my first but I have gotten it twice and I love it. It is served on pulled pork so ya, really freaking good. They also have a great Drink called the Capone, It is kind of an old-fashioned twist with a Ginger beer kind of twist. I always look forward to coming here either for brunch or just a couple of drinks. Did I mention they have a great selection of local craft beers? Check it out. I am sure you will love it. read more

This place is always busy when I walk by! Was looking forward to trying it. It was a nice day and they have a garage door open to the patio, so it felt like we could enjoy the weather without actually being outside. My partner ordered a special old fashioned and said it was delicious. We split the calamari / shrimp appetizer and a mushroom pizza. The food was really well prepared and we enjoyed every bite. The attentive service made the experience even better. Can't wait to come back! read more

I love this place. It always has the nicest and fastest staff, delicious food, great beer/wine/cocktail options, is busy but not loud and plays GREAT music. Whoever does their music just adds that cherry on top. I don't remember exactly what I've ordered here since I've been a few times now. I just remember that every time, I've been satisfied with the food and so have the people I've gone with. Overall, I highly recommend this spot. East York needs more places like this - approachable but upscale enough to feel like you're treatin' yoself. read more

Local where food and joy goes to die. The restaurants on the danforth have been amazing very sad to say this was a total disappointment. The waitress was rude and in a bad mood towards us as if we were bothering her. She rushed us to order and to pay at the end. I saw cockroaches walking near the bar, my cutlery we're all DIRTY. The food tasted bland, dry and no seasoning mind you I had the burger. When we were leaving on there window they had a CONDITIONAL PASS. no wonder why! Please stay away from this place. read more

I imagine all the suits coming here after work catching up over wine and food. On Wednesday night, my friend and I visited as non-suits and got one of the last tables to experience the mystery that is Local 1794. It's very trendy both outside and inside. They have a small little patio that opens up into the restaurant, which has hanging dozens of low hanging light fixtures from the ceiling and a decked out bar. She had the veggie meatballs (yay) and fish tacos (nay). I had the burger (nothing to write home about). Important: the fries were fat instead of skinny. The food came pretty slowly and service wasn't that great either, but I forgive them because it was so packed on a weekday. There are a lot of other restaurants I'd like to try in the area before coming back here, but I'm glad I satisfied my curiosity about this hippity happening place. read more

So -- this new find is in my 'hood, and glad I am it is! But folks -- the word is out -- busy busy --- so if you want to get in especially on a weekend, I do recommend you think about making a reservation. Love this place already. We met friends there and we tried: - the Smoked Chicken Wings (jerk style) - oh yes -- we will be having lots more of these in future - the charcuterie board ---- Yum yum - Then we had the Burger -- the Petite Steak Frites and the Cioppino All the mains were fab and the frites were perfect -- nice and crunchy with the skin on fries - Lots of drink offerings -- good selection of wines, and some cool microbrewery beers and innovative cocktails. Huge bar area and actually a fair bit of seating. Lots of street parking to be had. I am not sure I agree with the $$ rating for price though - because depending on what you have, the range could be more up to $$$. So if you stick with pizzas, 'wiches, then you are on the $$, but if you go with stuff like the cioppino, steak etc -- think more the $$$ range. Enjoy! read more

Came here with a friend for brunch. I ordered the jerk chicken wings and waffle, which we both decided was just so-so because it was dense and the flavours didn't mesh well. Not a repeat order. My friend got the sweet potatoe and smoked salmon quiche, which was delicious. Good selection of craft beers. Very relaxed and clean atmosphere. I want to come back for dinner time and enjoy more of the beers with some buds. Server was friendly and efficient. They also have a little patio for the summer. read more

Inadvertently picked St Patrick's Day to make the first visit to Local 1794. Restaurant was packed and had to wait at the bar for a short time for table. They have an excellent selection of on tap beers including a couple of less familiar breweries. Staff was very attentive and gracious in the face of the green hatted revellers that filled the space. Interesting selection on the menu but decided to go with evenings themed 3 course dinner. All entrees and starters were fresh and excellent. Desserts were decadent. Visually the restaurant is filled with photos and murals of Toronto from the early 20th century. Two video screens playing silver screen classic films add to the theme. Sat on a high table with comfortable chairs. There are comfy booths here that are hopefully open for the next visit. Would definitely recommend . read more

The wild boar pizza is really terrific and I highly recommend it. My wife had the ribs and they could of used a little extra meat on them. The fries and gravy were good. She was ultimately unimpressed though and agreed the pizza was a better choice. In terms of drinks, the Local has a great craft beer list, a good (but expensive) wine selection, and nice cocktail list. Cocktails lean on the sweet side, so if you prefer the more balanced approach you'll have less options. Staff were nice. The place was quite busy, so reservations are a must unless you're ok with sitting at the bar. read more

This local eatery in the Woodbine Danforth area has been around for a couple of years and has matured into a comfort destination. The ambiance is cozy but energized. The food is consistently good and the bar selection is sophisticated without being over-the-top. The smoked chicken dinner is a standard favourite. The carrot cheesecake is a weirdly good hybrid of carrot cake and cheesecake. The staff are friendly, warm, and professional. So glad this place is in our neighbourhood. read more

First time here and I really enjoyed it. Relaxing ambiance, very comfortable as well, music wasn't too loud, dim lighting, no complaints there. Both our waitress and the bartender were awesome -- super attentive and friendly. As for the food, we started off with the calamari which had a very rubbery taste (I guess because it didn't look like it was battered). I've definitely had better calamari and wouldn't get that again from here. For my main dish I got the fish tacos which I must say I found very bland. There was too much on the tortilla to even wrap it up like a taco and the tortilla itself was extremely thin so it kept ripping. My boyfriend got the Local Burger with fries which he said was a decent burger. I loved how it was a large portion of fries they served with the burger that also tasted great. Although I didn't like my food that much, I loved the service and would like to return to try something else. read more

Service was good. Young but engaging. The crowd was mixed... 20's on up Atmosphere was up beat and the decor very nice. Ordered a beer... To start. Ordered the braised Lamb Shank. I found the lamb a bit on the dry side and minimal flavours, as was the mash potatoes. It came with, or should I say, garnished with two "sprigs" of broccoli, a slice of carrot and a slice of pepper. The whole thing would have better if the food hadn't been below room temperature.... I mean the whole meal was tepid at best. I followed it up with a chocolate cake which I was told was "rich"... I grew up in the era of Just Desserts... I've had much better from a boxed chocolate cake from a supermarket. Would I go again... Probably not... Unless I heard something had changed. read more
