This restuarant has moved a few buildings down the same street, and I think the chef may have changed as well, for the food was much better than my previous visit (or of course, they could simply have improved with more experience.) I couldn't resist a poutine even though I described the previous one as soggy fries swimming in salty gravy. This time it was a huge improvement. A mix of sweet and regular potato fries, the sauce was just enough to cover the fries, flavorful but not overly salty. We also had the fig salad. The walnut and goat cheese were delicious, though it seemed like none of the four orders appeared to have any fig in it. My friend commented that it was not really fresh fig season... okay, but change the menu or at least the waitress should inform us. Fish and chips was nicely done as well. The coleslaw was rather bland, but the bottle of malt vinegar was surprisingly delicious. I am not a fan of malt vinegar but the brand they use was of superior quality. We sat on the rooftop. There used to be a giant tree for shades, but now only a slump remained. They put up a few sunbrellas, which unfortunately were inadequate shade for the summer sun. The bookshelf is still there near the entrance, though a fraction of its previous size and not as noticeable. Do take a long there if you like books!

Cozy pub! Bit of a hidden gem off The Annex! It has a nice snug room & roof top patio as well. Good selection of gastro-pub food (not your usual culprits on the menu), with good daily specials. I had the steak salad which was good! Love the blue cheese and the steak is perfect. Quite a bit of vinegar in the dressing. Never end up finishing all the lettuce as they give a generous helping. Now if it was butter lettuce or leaf lettuce, it would be perfect.

Harbord Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and sweet onion dip, along with a Lager

Ate here last night with a friend. Had an Onion soup and their Harbord burger with sweet potato fries and a lager on tap. The Onion soup was o but they used the wrong type of cheese for the topping (cheddar) and it didn't quite taste right even though it was acceptable. The Burger and sweet potato fries (doused in salt) were nicely done and the best part of the meal really, though honestly there are many other choices in the city for better burgers. Have to say though that the portion was really overly generous because I was completely stuffed at this point. My friend ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding which I had a spoon of (couldn't eat more) and this was actually really delicious.

Went here for dinner and drinks on a Friday night - nice place with lovely service. The food is good, and portion sizes are generous, however it is still slightly overpriced for what you are getting. -------------- Follow my Instagram @yamisohungry for more eats!

What a happy little public house! After taking in a decent musical at Randolph (I was surprised, don't be shy!), we popped in here for a few drinks and bites. I had a large glass of Malbec and the poutine and it was all delicious. Mostly I like this place for its cozy factor. Holiday lights, sweet staff and heart warming English pub feels. If you're in this area and looking to avoid student haunts, check out this dame.

I think someone needs to set the record straight: this place is a house with a front porch that's been converted into a PUB. It's not a restaurant, it's not a bar, it's a PUB. And for a PUB, it's pretty dang good. They've got a very small selection of drinks and rotating tap options, and can make basic mixed drinks on request. You don't really need much else to be honest if all you're doing is sitting on the porch and kicking back a couple. For their food, we tried the buttermilk fried chicken burger, and fish and chips. Both were, best put, 'okay'. For a pub, however, they were good. The only real disappointment I have is with myself. I forgot to ask the server's name - I really wanted to give her a shout out here. She was GREAT. After we settled our bill, we very casually just mentioned we didn't like the cider we ordered. She was immediately apologetic that she put it on the bill and INSISTED that she get us another drink - on the pub (See what I did there?). She even got us some samplers so we could choose the drink we wanted! FULL MARKS!

Hmmmm. They tried. Super friendly service and reasonable prompt. Great menu brimming with possibilities. My choice of the special - a veal parm sandwich with a Caesar salad side was deceiving. Looked great but wait! It's was ground veal (or severely tenderized through a good pounding)! OK, but if your deviating from a norm let me know. Tasted good with an spicy aftertaste. Bit short on the tomatoes sauce. Served on a grilled ciabatta was a nice choice. The Ceaser was not a Caesar!. A mixed leaf salad with vinegarette is not a Ceasar! A surprise Coleslaw the side was vinegar based and bit mustardy for my liking. Now I'm beginning to feel like I was lied to! It's not my first time here and it's always been adequate and probably worth yet another try-but beware, I ask for the details because you're not going to necessarily get what you expected

Comfortable Canadiana in dimly lit and wood filled space with notes of that British pub styling. Solid good local draught list, not over-done. If a burger is what you desire, go for the one with canadian bacon. This time, I got the regular burger and opted to treat myself to cheese. The cheese was minimal on burger and an extra two fifty... sigh. But their food generally seems good. I would recommend.

Sticky toffee pudding - may not look that appetizing but it was so warm and amazingly caramelly.

I've walked past this place many times and never stepped foot inside. We decided to venture inside and give it a shot, and guess what? I honestly wish we'd come here sooner because the food is divine. The restaurant is very homey and reminded me of a ski lodge both inside and outside. We ordered the wild mushroom & goat cheese mac and cheese, chicken pot pie, and sticky toffee pudding. If I'm being totally honest, the food here is the epitome of comfort food. Our main dishes were pretty heavy and fatty so the accompanying salad provided a nice balance to it. I also liked how they gave us freshly ground pepper for the salad. Sticky toffee pudding is moist and oh-so-caramelly. Be sure to stop by if you're in Harbord village!

Canadian Breakfast @ brunch! Bacon, 2 eggs, baked beans, toast, homemade strawberry jam, sausage and home fries!

Went to Harbord House pretty much by accident. It's located down the street from another sought after patio restaurant but it was jammed packed and I'm so glad it was! There are two patios, one upstairs and one on street level as well as two levels of indoor seating. This place has a quiet and quaint atmosphere with an incredible menu including angus burgers, a variety of salads & yummy breakfasts (especially eggs benedict). Everything is reasonably priced ($12-25) and the service was pleasant. Try to sit on the patio upstairs! The hanging baskets are lovely.

    Blackened Salmon Tacos $16
    Kathy H.

I was thoroughly surprised to find that their kitchen makes a long list of restaurant-style dinner entres: - a salad menu! - chicken pot pie $15 - vegetarian chilli $14 - potato crusted salmon $19 I had the Blackened Salmon Tacos $16 which is a generous dish of 3 large tacos, very liquidy (almost drinkable) chipole mayo, and just a tad off-perfect (maybe A-, almost B+) blackened salmon. Their list of Ontario craft beers is great. And it's 12 oz. $4.30 and 20 oz. $6.50 which is such a steal. Tiniest restaurant/bar I've ever seen. The stairs make the space tiny. The ground floor seats 12 people (2 tables for four, 2 tables for two) plus maybe 4-5 people at the bar. I would definitely call this a restaurant, not a pub. It's a place for an intimate pub-date, filling food, quiet and we can hear each other. Small tables. omg the table -wow what is that table. It's so small but it works out! I've never sat so close face-to-face at dinner before.

This was first on our list, located in the Scotiabank Tower on Adelaide. We got a nice corner table, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, not too loud but not library-like either. The music, mostly UK fare like their cuisine, played an acceptable volume that my friends and I didn't have to raise our voices. We were seated very promptly, and our server took care to attend to my friend's allergy. She even asked to change my friend's cutlery when another server brought the wrong salad. My appetizer was a hot-smoked salmon pâté, which was ok by itself, but eaten with the pickles gave it that taste I wouldn't forget. I chose for my main the Petit Roast Dinner; the cut was excellent, full of flavour and juicy to boot. The gravy for said cut just brought the roast to another level. The sides were delicious as well, especially the crispiness of the potatoes. A clean plate was the end result! Finally to finish the meal, I chose the chocolate banoffee cheesecake - I never pass on any cheesecake when it's offered. And it didn't disappoint! The banana brûlée was an interesting touch, while having toffee sauce drizzled on the cheesecake was a first (and not definitely last) for me! All in all, it was a nice introduction to The Rabbit Hole, and I can't wait to go down there again!
