**REVIEW BASED ON SUMMERLICIOUS 2024** The bar & kitchen was located at the entrance level of the Riz-Carlton Toronto Hotel, towards the back of the hotel. We were greeted and seated in the odd corner table next to the doors leading to the outdoor patio. We sat for about 10 minutes before we were greeted by our waiter to get us water. While we were waiting for our water, we have already decided on the $75 pre-fix Summerlicious menu. All the dishes arrived at a timely manner, with the main course being a little bit slower than the rest. The service, however, was not as attentive as you would expect at a 5-star hotel's restaurant... perhaps the location of our table played in the factor of this feeling. Here's what we thought on the food: - crab stuffed avocado: real crab meat mixed with diced shrimp placed on top of a half avocado, with Vietnamese dressing around the plate. The dish was presented beautifully, very flavourful but a tab bit salty to our liking. It was quite a filling dish to start! - citrus cured salmon: salmon sashimi with a few pieces of mandarin oranges, paired with a thai inspired coconut sauce. Though the flavour was strong, again, it was salty! However, if you take in everything together- oranges together, the sweet and tartness from the oranges helped balancing the salt. -10oz striploin w/ caesar salad: the striploin was seared with a nice pink center for medium rare, has decent charred marks and smoky flavour in every bite. The chimichurri was added on top of the steak but don't think it was necessary despite giving it more colour. The salad dressing has an oily taste so we knew it was house-made. - roasted ora salmon w/ watermelon salad: the salmon was crispy on the outside, soft and juicy on the inside. The salmon, surprisingly, was under seasoned. The green goddess sauce (reminded me of pesto) gave some flavour to the fish, but it was an odd pairing in my opinion. The watermelon salad was a refreshing palate cleanser for sure. - strawberry shortcake: house-made scone cut in halves with whipped cream and strawberry compote. The scone was moist and has a crispy top, it was not overly sweet. - warm chocolate & walnut brownie: beautifully presented! Can't go wrong with ice cold chocolate ice cream and warm chocolate brownie. The walnut bites added a little crunch to every bite. The brownie itself wasn't too sweet and still full of chocolate taste. Most importantly, it was still moist even after we let it sit out for a bit.

Epoch: An Underrated Gem Exceeding Expectations Epoch far exceeded my expectations. Having only seen recommendations for their afternoon tea, I didn't anticipate much from their main courses, and the menu seemed fairly unassuming at first glance. However, upon arrival, I quickly realized its charm. The restaurant's decor leans towards a relaxed, spacious, and comfortable setting, with plush sofa seating as the main arrangement. The atmosphere was pleasantly quiet, making it an ideal spot for a solo meal. The service was notably warm and attentive--staff frequently checked in on my experience, refilled my water, wiped down my table, and even packed up leftovers with care. Soup of the Day I was pleasantly surprised when the soup of the day turned out to be a beef consommé. The aroma alone was enticing, with a rich base of onions and beef, complemented by celery, garlic, and black pepper. The sweetness, primarily from the onions, was subtle--less pronounced than stir-fried onions and beef but perfectly balanced for a soup. A layer of broiled cheese on top added depth to the texture. It was served with crispy garlic bread, which soaked up the broth beautifully, though the richness of the oil made it slightly heavy when paired with the soup. Surprisingly, the soup was loaded with generous chunks of beef, making it one of the most satisfying dishes I've had recently--not necessarily the best-tasting, but certainly the most fulfilling. Caesar Salad As part of the meal, you can choose a salad as a main course, essentially allowing for two appetizers. A classic Caesar salad, well-executed, with the standout feature being a single anchovy fillet on top. Jindori Chicken Skewers These skewers closely resembled Japanese yakitori, with the flavors driven by chili powder and a kumquat glaze. Some parts had a distinct char, which, according to the server, was an intentional "bitter charred" profile crafted by the chef--an interesting taste experience, if nothing else. That said, it didn't detract from the dish, as the chicken remained tender and juicy inside. The portion size was unexpectedly large, and my side choice of mashed potatoes arrived as an entire bowl. Lightly salted and incredibly smooth, it remained enjoyable without becoming overwhelming. Korean Short Ribs ($42) I enjoyed my meal so much that I couldn't resist ordering a server-recommended dish: the Korean short ribs. And wow--the portion was staggering, easily enough for two. The beef itself was almost fist-sized, making me wonder if the restaurant's core appeal is in serving generous portions at a great value. The dish was garnished with vegetables, layered over a bed of kimchi. I had never appreciated kimchi as a pairing for beef before, but its acidity and spice perfectly balanced the richness of the meat while retaining its crisp texture. The addition of lion's head peppers further rounded out the dish, offering both a subtle sweetness and a way to mellow out the kimchi's acidity. Warm Bread Pudding A substantial serving, though not particularly groundbreaking, but still above average. Topped with a scoop of coffee ice cream, the pudding itself had a caramelized golden crust and a dusting of mildly sweet powdered sugar. The sweetness was well-controlled, making it easy to keep taking bite after bite. Overall Impression While the menu might seem ordinary at first glance, Epoch delivers exceptional value within its price range. Compared to more formal dining spots, this restaurant fosters a more relaxed atmosphere--more akin to a teahouse, making it a great place for catching up with friends. The portion sizes are astonishing, and while the dishes aren't particularly innovative, they are consistently well-executed, with a high baseline quality. A hidden gem that deserves more attention and a strong recommendation.

Come for the elevated bar vibes and a rotating seasonal cocktail menu. We stopped in just before 7 PM for a pre-dinner drink at the indoor bar. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming. The menu had some really creative options, featuring clarified and infused cocktails. I went with a rum-based drink (wish I could remember the name), which I enjoyed. Complimentary bowls of mixed nuts and wasabi peas were a nice touch.

We went to EPOCH for their afternoon tea. Went around 12 pm and it wasn't too busy at the time, but make sure to make a reservation. The restaurant itself is very clean and beautiful, I'm a big fan of the ambience as well. Definitely one of the best places I've been for afternoon tea. First of all, the server was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about tea selection. They brought out each tea so we could smell the different notes in the blends. I ended up going with the Sencha Fukujyu Cha, while my friend while she went for the Organic Lychee. Both were excellent! They bring out a tea timer which lets you know when to stop brewing depending on if you like your tea mild, regular, or strong. You can ask for extra water since you can use your tea leaves multiple times! I was a big fan of all the sandwiches and scones. If you have any allergies, make sure to let them know when you reserve. My favourite sandwich was definitely the coronation chicken, but all of them were surprisingly delicious. Scones come with a strawberry jam, clotted cream, and rose petal jam. They were freshly baked and warm and just so so good with the jam and clotted cream. I would honestly order extra clotted cream from the get-go because it goes so well with the scones. I was too full by the end to eat all the desserts so I ended up bringing the rest home. But I did eat everything after. Although it doesn't seem like a lot, once you are eating (make sure to savour each bite) and sipping your tea, you get quite full. Overall, it was a great experience for afternoon tea and I definitely felt welcomed by the staff. The bartender even passed by and complimented my leather jacket, and if I wasn't lying I became very tempted to buy it in every colour. If you're looking for afternoon tea, I would definitely recommend EPOCH!

We came here for afternoon tea which two of my party had, while I ordered octopus and roasted chick. The food was not particularly good while portion is small and pricey. The cocktail also at the same league. The tea is ordinary and the afternoon tea food was either acceptable to poorly implemented. The environment is not bad being in a hotel, probably a good place to enjoy a conversation. The service is acceptable. Overall, ordinary food with a good location but overpriced. We came here for some tasty scones but they were good enough.

Service(4.5/5) it was pretty good here even when busy! Ambiance (4/5) nice vibrant setting with fire-pits and music. Easy to blow through time Cocktails(3.5/5) luckily i told him to not put my manhattan on the rocks...party foul. But cocktails were decent but not amazing for the price. Food(3.5/5) the coconut shrimp is the clear winner on the menu!! The steak and shrimp was decent too. The steak wasn't as delicious as i hoped though.

We stayed at the Ritz between Christmas and New Years. Had a credit to use each night so used it on a nightcap and dinner or dessert. Very well crafted cocktails with top shelf presentation and ingredients. They were ALL good. Loved the skinny fries and aioli. Pumpkin cheesecake well done and nice size to share. Service was top notch as expected at the Ritz. The bar setting is great for a nightcap and encourages convo to talk about the day.

Fried chicken, flatbread and the truffle fries (these are sooo good).

Lovely spot (especially their outdoor patio). This is a little oasis located in the Ritz Carlton hotel. We went and tried to do a little celebrity, watching during tiff, our celebrity watching did not work out, but we did have some great food and had a great catch up. The serving staff here are fantastic.. Very attentive and they definitely know their menu well, etc. We had a bunch of different things which we shared up and some of their cocktails. It was really good one thing to note that during a busy. They may ask for a minimum spend per person in some other venues, including this one. Having said all that we just really love it. Parking is a nearby parking garage because it is after all downtown. Otherwise you can get to it via TTC Saint Andrews or Union Station are the closest via subway.

Take this slow. It's going to be an event. Choose your tea. Sniff them all. I had the chamomile. Absolutely wonderful. I love fresh tea ingredients. They had a standard set up and a special one for my vegan wife and they were amazing. A glass of bubbly and we were set. We stayed for hours. This is not brunch. This is High Tea.

So disappointed at our high tea experience at Epoch. I had high tea at the Ritz in Hong Kong and loved it. The ambiance and food wasn't even in par at all here unfortunately. The food was mediocre at best. Some of the items tasted a bit stale. The flavours didn't really go well, it was overall such a disappointment. The service was average. It wasn't the Ritz experience I was hoping for. It came to almost $80 per person after tips and tax and it wasn't worth it at all.

Enjoyed the nice ambiance and good food. The tea selection was very interesting and presented in a beautiful wooden box with little jars of loose leaf. The afternoon tea experience was very memorable and came with a tower for two people each, ranging from savoury sandwiches to scones with jam and cream to sweet dessert tarts and cream puffs. Great service and would love to join this kitchen and terrace restaurant in the summer for an outdoor dining experience.

Amazing ambience, great service and really beautiful decor both inside and out on their patio. With the summer weather settling in, the foliage and neon signs gives it an island vibe with a hint of luxury. Came here for weekend lunch and our server Chad was awesome and didn't make us feel crowded or deserted. Food is great, fusion-ey but still good. It may not be on par with some of the other Ritz restaurant outlets around the world but I still had a great time and will definitely be returning in the near future.

Had a lovely experience! Starting from the relaxing and elegant spa upstairs to the lovely anniversary lunch downstairs

For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.

My boyfriend took me here for our anniversary and it was memorable to say the least. This…read morerestaurant is located in upstairs on the 31st floor of the St. Regis hotel. Coming in, it felt very luxurious. To be honest I was a little nervous because I came in feeling out of place as it is not somewhere I would eat casually, but the waitress that assisted us was so kind! We came strictly for cake as we had eaten right before, but we took a peek at the winterlicious menu, and the prices looked super affordable! We ordered the cake and yes, it maybe just be a tall slice of cake, but it was moist and decadent and probably my favourite cake. Overall, if you are a chocolate cake fanatic, this is the place to go!
