Sunset Grill now becomes my favourite place for a homey breakfast. Not that many options at 7 am on weekend in the area. Cook when order, though the option is simple but fresh. You might need to wait a little longer for your order. Service always pleasant.

On New Year's Eve, I was running a few errands and needed to grab some lunch. I spotted this Sunset Grill on my drive along Markham Road, got excited, and pulled in. I had no idea that this Sunset Grill existed! For ages, Markham did not have a single Sunset Grill. It now has two. Go figure! I have a love for French toast. Out of all breakfast eateries, I love the French toast at Sunset Grill the best. I walked in at 2:30 pm. I had an hour to eat. I can do it! I was promptly seated and given a menu. Staff here are incredibly friendly and service is excellent. I ordered three pieces of French toast with a side order of corned beef hash. It didn't take long for my order to come. My usual is to order a Diet Coke. I got a glass with ice with my beverage, which I liked. It was a nice touch. The French toast was delicious. It was lightly crispy around the edges, but perfectly done everywhere else. It was probably one of the best I have had in a while. I loved the maple syrup dispenser here. It was modern and didn't leave any stickiness anywhere on me. The corned beef hash was delicious. I got a lot of it. No complaints here. My server was great. I got my bill, paid at the front counter, and wished her a happy 2019. Credit, debit, and cash are accepted. I'm so glad this Sunset Grill is in Markham. I can't wait to return! (1)

Corned beef hash and omelette paired with browned home fries. Strong coffee, but wished there was espresso. Great dark rye toast. Uber attentive service that invites you to ask for anything you need. Fresh and fun dining room. Open kitchen to watch your meal being prepared. Great price point.

I was looking for a breakfast place for my sister and I to visit, when we came across Sunset Grill on Yelp. I asked my sister if she had heard of it and she actually said that she had been there with a friend and that it wasn't too bad (price wise) so I decided to give it a try. Walking into the restaurant, I received a very friendly vibe from the waiter who was extremely willing to help. So that's a pro! From the menu, I ordered the eggs sunset which comes with home fries, over easy eggs and peameal bacon over 2 pieces of english muffin. In top of that, there was hollandaise sauce. The food actually looked pretty delicious and this opinion was maintained throughout the meal. One small thing was that the peameal bacon to me personally was really salty to the point that I had to pack it for takeout as I couldn't keep eating it. I recommend giving this place a try. Nothing too special but if you are looking for a simple breakfast, this could easily be an option!

Decided to check out this location since it is right around from where my parents live! At first, we were very happy with the service -- she was speedy and courteous. Did she forget a request that was made? Yes, but minor detail. What was frustrating was that waitresses who were waiting other tables told our waitress that we clearly needed service, and still, she thought it would be a better idea to sit down to talk to a gentleman at another table. Frustrated, I made my way to the cashier and asked to pay for my bill. The food was good, but for some reason, the pancakes were, in my opinion, very "yummy" for pancake quality. Not too sure why, but I ended up only eating half of the two pancakes. The establishment is clean and bright, but while the photos on yelp indicate that it has an outdoor patio, it actually does not (I walked all the way around). Just thought I'd note that -- since I am a fan of outdoor eateries!

Had a great breakfast here. I can definitely see how it could get easily packed given the small space, but ill base this review more heavily on the food and service. First off id like to give these folks some recognition for their homefries...they got it right as far as im concerned!! The pieces of potato are soft and well seasoned and I love the bits of crunchy pieces mixed in- makes it all the more interesting. Eggs are not easy to screw up so...they didnt screw those up. A perfectly runny over easy is my go to. And the sausages, though appearing burned, dod not taste bad at all. They had the perfect bite to them. Not too soggy/floppy and not too hard. Oh, and I had pancakes too (these choices are whats causong my belly to grow) But anyways, they were good pancakes. Fluffy, not dry and crumbly. Overall good. However, my favourite pancakes definitely remains as eggsmarts. I like how soft they are at eggsmart, and the splash of vanilla makes them taste like pancake minus the pan. Prices are good too at sunset. The option I chose (top left of menu I believe) was $11.99 and included homefries, 3 eggs, choice of meat (either 4 sausages, 5 bacon, or 2 of each) and 2 pancakes. In other words, more than enough food.

Ordered the eggs benedict, and it was a great meal, can't complain!! This restaurant was quite busy on a Saturday morning, and it was a nice change of scene from Cora's, it has a cottage cozy vibe. My only complain was that the portion of food was not filling enough for the price (12.99).

Perfect spot for brunch! This sunset grill is still relatively new, opened up shop a month and a half ago (I took my time writing this so it's late lol). Really enjoyed my visit here as the food and fruits were fresh. I ordered the crazy big breakfast with blueberry pancakes cuz I was feelin like a champ. Everything was freshly made and I absolutely loved every bit of it. The place itself was clean and the staff were very friendly! Lots of room inside but some people may feel like it is cramped. I personally found it just fine, maybe not if you rock a winter jacket. Service was quick, even for a busy long weekend. I will definitely be visiting again if I'm in the area!

This brand new all-day breakfast spot in Markham has become my new favourite. Food is great, portions are generous and perhaps most importantly, they brew good coffee! Staff are very friendly and extremely hard working. Weekends can get busy so keep that in mind.

The staff are great and always accommodating and very patient when my kids can't make up their minds about what they want to eat or drink. You pass through a charming patio to enter, which was shaded nicely thanks to the size of the Shoppers building. Given the recent heatwave, we opted to sit indoors. We were greeted at the door and offered the choice between a two-person table tucked farther inside or a four-person table closer to other diners. We chose the smaller table for a bit more privacy and ease of conversation. Menus were provided right away, followed shortly by tap water. When our server checked in to ask about drinks, we let her know we were fine with just water. Later, when we were ready to order, she came promptly when we called her over. A standout moment: we ordered just one smoothie, and she kindly asked if we were sharing, then offered to split it into two cups without us even asking. A thoughtful and appreciated gesture. The Pineapple Banana Smoothie was a highlight. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and incredibly refreshing. My sister ordered the Halloumi Benedict. She noted that while the waffles leaned toward a sweeter flavor on their own, the combination of waffle, egg, and halloumi was well-balanced and worked beautifully together. The egg was jammy and spot-on in terms of taste, texture, and presentation. I had the Fully Loaded, which features a potato waffle topped with bacon bits, sour cream, chives, and cheese. It leaned a bit salty, but not overwhelmingly so, still quite enjoyable overall. I loved the potato waffle which has the slightly crispy edges but was soft to bite with a texture that resembled mash potatoes. As someone who isn't usually crazy about waffles, which was such a nice alternative. Each of our mains came with a side salad (lightly dressed and refreshing) and a choice of fruit salad, maple baked beans, or potato salad. We both chose the fruit salad, which was impressively varied with orange, grapefruit, watermelon, blueberry, blackberry, and banana. Note: Payment is cash or debit only.

The variety of colours was not matched with a variety of flavours, and everything was somewhat on the salty and greasy side. That being said, we very much enjoyed the potato hash, pancakes, and French toast. The portion sizes also outdid themselves - if you're coming here for brunch, just be prepared for a long nap in the afternoon! Service was excellent: prompt, helpful, and friendly. Due to the number of guests that day, the space around our table was quite tight and cozy but that was fine by us. My boyfriend got the Gochujang Chicken and Waffles with a juice (I believe it was lychee), and I got the Char Siu Benedict with a Hojicha Latte. The portion was much bigger than we had expected for the Gochujang Chicken and Waffles, which was definitely the highlight of the entire meal because this is a DEFINITE MUST TRY for the sweet/savoury combo lovers out there (note: the chicken wasn't a large thigh or two like other brunch restaurants we have been to, but rather chunks of chicken that were perfectly tossed in the gochujang). The Char Siu Benedict was also amazing, and I got truffle fries and a side salad. The Hojicha latte was recommended by not only the staff but also another diner who was seated next to us, and I definitely loved the rich flavour of the Hojicha. It's extremely popular (always full) but the tables move quite quickly, so yes - while you most likely need to stay in line if you come during the weekends, you don't have to wait for long if you're on a cute brunch date for two. A few pros and cons about this place: Cons: 1) ordered the bulgogi benedict, and to be fair, it was not very impressive. While the English muffins underneath were toasted to perfection - crispy and soft, I was not impressed by the bulgogi/benedict. The thing about hollandaise sauce is that it's powerful, rich and creamy. What goes well with it needs to add another dimension of powerful flavour profiles, which is why it's usually paired with smoked proteins (smoked salmon, peameal bacon, pulled pork etc). While I love Bulgogi, it's usually sweet, refreshing that goes well with flavour neutral side such as plain rice (or bread, fries). When I had my Bennies, I could barely taste any of the bulgogi and it was a disappointment to me (it just tasted like an egg on an English muffin). 2) the size is quite small for its price (CAD 22). If you think the two bennies as one sandwich, it'd be a small English muffin. That's very pricy. Pros: 1) the "spicy" home fries were extremely well done. The flavour profiles were well delivered, with caramelized onions and pepper pieces mixed in. I had a great time enjoying them. 2) I enjoyed the drip coffee quite a bit. It was very fresh and the beans they used had a nice balance of acidity and bitterness. Very satisfying. 3) the service was superb. I really really appreciated my servers (Gabriella and Alan). They were extremely efficient while being attentive and friendly. I gauge that the servers are the primary reason why the restaurant, tho being extremely popular, still has a steady speed to move the lines and customers. Extremely impressive comparing to all other diners I've been to when it comes to service. Because of the servers and the home fries, I'd give it a four stars while the food/pricing need some works. I may come back sometime soon to try other items on the menu.
