Chocolate milk shake

My new favourite diner restaurant! The new owners are such a lovely family, who work hard, take care of the customers and are so kind and friendly. I came for lunch and had the classic clubhouse with a poutine, the portion size was amazing and it tasted so good! They constantly had a steady flow of customers coming in. Overall I love this place and the atmosphere and will keep coming back!

A known local fave, went here as the reviews were really good. Keep in mind it can get packed as it is a smaller restaurant. I've heard there can be lines out the door. Luckily didn't encounter that when I went, but it was fairly busy. It has the typical breakfast foods - eggs, sausages, hash, different kinds of toast..etc. The portion are good and the prices even better :) Service is friendly. Is it the best breakfast/brunch I've had - nope. But it's good when you are craving that typical western breakfast. It does the job. It's located in a small strip plaza with not a lot of parking.

Do you like a good old school diner, where the staff makes you feel at home and you leave full and satisfied? Then this place is just awesome. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. They were amazing with my toddler! Even the other customers were just great local friendly people. I was digging the whole vibe. I can't wait to go back. The portions are huge. The flavour is just right that you feel guilty for all that grease and carb but still want more. The home fries soft crispy and flavourful. The prices have skyrocketed in the past several years, but it is still cheaper than brunch elsewhere and food prices have gone up significantly for everyone. The mugs are adorable.

Randomly went here as my mom and step dad come here on a weekly basis. It has a very old school diner feel to it with a decent amount of seating, especially for its location. I've lived in the area for eight years and I actually am in the plaza at least two times a month doing my nails a couple doors down and I've never noticed this place before. Better advertising would do a lot because I really enjoyed the food. They serve your typical breakfast food but the portion size for the price is amazing. I got scrambled eggs with home fries and toast as well as a coffee to drink, all of which was great. As for the service, it was fantastic! Not sure if they're always this great or if it's because my parents are regulars here, but our waitress was very attentive, continued to check in on us and refilled our coffees without us having to ask for it. I enjoyed my experience here and will definitely be back!

Java for $2.00 with refills

Mother's Day today, probably a very bad day to come here but my friend highly recommend this place and I don't have a lot of free time available. The place was packed with a lineup of two other parties ahead of me and two behind me. My wait was only 10 minutes; party of one has it's benefits. My all-day breakfast choice was the 3 eggs with house cut (half pound) peameal bacon with hand cut home fried potatoes and thick Texas toast for $10.25 and coffee for $2.00 extra. Staff was courteous and one took my order while another (runner) brought me my java; team approach. The decor reminds me of my parents restaurant growing up with one noticeable difference; this place has inspirational pictures lining the walls. The full service menu was also similar with so many food choices for patrons of all ages with many of them in their 50's...with grandkids in tow. I noted that the bathrooms are downstairs. My coffee cup was readily refilled by a server walking about. Sweet! The breakfast was excellent, especially the 3 large pieces of peameal bacon. Service was also excellent! My friend was right...for once!

Customer service was amazing, Food was on point and tasty!!! Such nice welcoming feel, always made sure we were satisfied and happy with everything. My toast was a little burnt and she even asked if I was okay with that (I secretly like things burnt so it was perfect for me) or the bacon I asked for to be extra crispy, when she brought it she made sure that was how I wanted it. It was the little things that she asked or accommodated for us that made me feel really looked after. Very customer oriented and caring. They even have variety of hot sauces!!!*** Pineapple, papaya, Tabasco and Franks red hot options :) big plus for us since we love sauces. This cute friendly diner is definitely a place I'd come back to. Family feel and tasty food, I'll recommend to everyone!

Mmmmm tasty...

A Saturday morning and not to crowded nice. Excellent place for someone who craves a breakfast during the day, all day. Portions are perfect and very tasty. May e not the best coffee I have had but the meal definitely made up for it. The bread used for toast was Texas style, which is a nice choice because you need the extra bread for the 3 eggs you are given. I am not sure why I have not come here more often because I drive by it all the time, but will come back again soon. Oh there is also parking out front so if your driving you should be good.

They don't have au jus for the (roast)beef sandwich but they'll give you some yummy gravy to dip it in instead.

You cannot resist the charm of this diner. When you enter you are greeted by the waitress, the older gent who buses the tables and even the cooks way in the back. They know their regulars and their orders. The waitress even remembered where we sat last. They know their menu well and can give recommendations to suit your tastes. With this type of place you need to know what to order to make the most of your dining experience. The steak is always a winner, well seasoned and juicy. I would always choose their fries over their home fries because it comes out piping hot and crispy. Egg sandwiches with cheese are also a solid choice. Breakfast served all day assures that we'll be coming back again.

The restaurant is giving cozy comforts diner with abut 20 people worth of seating. Join the waitlist as soon as you can because you can wait up to 2 hours for a table on a Sunday morning. After we got seated and our waiter came over and he wasn't giving the most welcoming energy, he seemed a little stand off ish which was weird but we assumed that's just how he was lol. Other than that that the service was good. We started with the biscuits. You have an option to have it with gravy or jam. We got jam and it came with a clotted cream like spread and a cinnamon apple tasting jam. The biscuits were nice and fluffy. We got an ice coffee too and it was really good. I always come for the party melt. It comes with their house salad and a scoop of their sweet potato salad. The whole plate was fantastic. We also for their turkey dinner and this was so delicious but we were so full we only had a couple bites and took the rest home. It was just as delicious as reheated leftovers.

Ordered OG patty melt (reuben style), sour cream donut, egg and steak(or sausage? dont recall). Patty melt is really good. unique. tender and juicy patty. with dipping sauce on the side. Egg & steak(or sausage....dont recall) is too normal (my friend prefer to eat my patty melt instead). Sour cream donut is crazily delicious! not too sweet, soft and airy dough. We wish to buy more (cz we only ordered 1, just to try). As we were eating, people kept coming (but restaurant is full and they need to register for online waitlist, which could take 2-3hrs waiting list). Worth to try if you live nearby. Otherwise, probably it's ok to skip. It'a good or unique, but not too wow/mind blowing (especially for a far commute). It's a simple-and-classic-and-feels-homey vibe type of breakfast after all. Fast and attentive service. Cheers!

With its red exterior, snug booth seating, and counter stools worn smooth by years of faithful custom, it wears its authenticity without affectation. The Irish breakfast is the undisputed centrepiece: a generous, unapologetically hearty spread that arrives with the sort of abundance one associates with a proper Irish kitchen. Portions are substantial and satisfying, calibrated for appetite rather than aesthetics -- and all the better for it. The menu is unpretentious, and the cooking honest. What distinguishes The George Street Diner most, however, is the quality of its hospitality. The service is warm and unhurried, characterised by a genuine attentiveness that is increasingly rare. One leaves not merely fed, but looked after -- and that distinction matters. It is the sort of neighbourhood gem one recommends without hesitation, and whose reputation travels well. I have done so on multiple occasions, and the response has been unfailingly positive. A treasured find for weekend brunch in Toronto.

The eggs were great but I couldn't eat the rest. I don't want fries for breakfast. The beans were straight out of a can, a tiny piece if mushy tomato, extremely dry soda bread, and the worse tasting mushrooms I've ever had. Husband had the same but with too salty sausage. He couldn't eat it. We both basically ate the egg with a piece of the soda bread. Service was great. Coffee cup never empty. But omg, SO pricey for a diner. Won't be back.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.
