I ordered sushi through DoorDash and was impressed by the variety of vegetarian options and the bold flavors.

Markham Sushi is a true hidden gem that you won't see when you drive by. It's tucked inside the plaza so you'll have to park outside Halibut House/TD Bank and walk through the covered alley/path to find it. The inside is dimly lit which adds to the hidden gem vibe. I recommend making reservations for weekends - they fill up quickly. Great menu selection of fresh fish and hot dishes/apps. We've tried their sashimi sushi roll dish, pork katsudon, Diablo roll, seafood yaki udon, and some of their lunch specials. The fish was fresh and there were thick cuts of sashimi. They offer a good selection of specialty rolls which always come with lots of filling and not too much rice. The hot dishes were also flavourful and good portion size. Interestingly, the seafood yaki udon has a bacon aroma but I don't believe it has bacon. It's very smoky, savoury and satisfying. Outstanding service here as well--very attentive and friendly.

Hidden in a plaza without a mall sign. Park by TD and you'll see it in the middle of the plaza. Ordered their Dinner Bento Combo with 2 choices- main and rolls for $21. Each combo comes with rice, miso soup, salad, 2 Beef Gyozas and 6 pc california roll. Opted for Bulgogi and Dynamite Roll, and another combo with Beef Teriyaki and Yam Roll. The California Roll wasn't tightly wrapped so it almost fell apart. Wasn't a big fan of their California Roll as it was quite bland. I prefer the California Roll at Jtown more. Everything else tasted okay. The downpart was food was luke warm when I went to pick it up. They quoted 20 mins but when I arrived in 15 mins, food was ready but wasn't very hot. Currently with the pandemic, they're offering 10% off if paid by cash.

This is one of my new favourite sushi spots in Markham! I love that this restaurant is in east Markham because we lack good sushi out here! Although the location is a bit hard to find (they should put more signs up!), I've noticed that they still have quite a bit of business already from the 2 times I've been there. I came here on a Saturday night for late dinner, and we were seated after a short wait. We ordered a Roll Combo 3 with about 60 pieces of maki, and we were nervous about whether it would take a long time to come. We were pleasantly surprised because it took only took about 10-15 min to come out! I think their maki is great; there isnt too much rice and they really pack it with the meat. The one thing I would be wary about is that their lunch specials are still quite pricey. The bentos that are $11-13 are not very large, and the udon is like $13+. I think this place is worth it for the sushi platters and combos with a group, but maybe not for a casual lunch.

A hidden gem in Markham! I went here a couple of times for lunch and loved how fresh the food is. I got the nabeyaki udon which comes in a sizzling pot with lots of fresh vegetables, mushrooms, chicken, and tempura. They don`t skip out on the ingredients which is rare these days. Would recommend their Rainbow Dragon Rolls as well, which was so flavorful and satisfying. I hope this place continues to do well, as it is family-run and you can really see the great effort. Service is very friendly even when it is busy.

How does a hidden sushi joint survive this long and is so busy on a Friday night? I just had to find out tonight! First challenge is to find the place in this nonchalant plaza, thanks to yelper tip, park Right to the Halibut House, then stroll into middle of plaza. There's about 9-10 booths that were all full by the time we sat down for 6:45pm, they had to sincerely and apologetically turn away other guests to return for 7:30pm and try again, I noticed they turned away quite a number a groups, so good tip to book ahead if dining later than early dinner rush before 7pm. Otherwise lots of take out orders were also coming through the restaurant. Service- 4* for everyone else working there, really nice and eager to please. Our server was either new or just lacking service skills, no soy sauce dipping plate, forgetting requests, tea refills, not checking on food, bringing salad, miso soup after the main entrees, added extra charge to make a roll spicy and didn't confirm that upcharge, no personality or smiles from our guy. Any other server here was fantastic, just our guy was bland for a 2* Freshness- 5* Sushi is good and on point, no excessive fillers, fair slices of sashimi, sushi rice was seasoned perfectly and had right texture. Tempura shrimp was standard but dipping sauce was different, had a 5 spice note and a thicker sauce than usual, which was tasty. Yuzu panacotta was delish, fresh cubed mango topping on the yuzu marmalade with delicate creamy panacotta that finishes the meal really nicely, not too sweet either. Will revisit or do some take out.

Local Markham gem hidden in a plaza. It's between a yoga studio and tattoo shop. Definitely recommend this restaurant if you live in the area. Lovely small owned business. Very cozy atmosphere and efficient service. The food is fairly priced for the quality and quantity. My partner and I had the lunch time bento. It comes with soup, salad, rice, gyoza, and 2 choices of mains. To our surprise the salad was really delicious, quality of the sushi was a lot better than going to an AYCE sushi place. The bento was more than enough. We were full at the end of it :)

Was itching for some vinegar rice to temporarily satisfy my sushi craving so opted in for some rolls. This place has a lot of Specialty rolls to choose from, including quite a few rolls with cooked roll such as chicken katsu roll, beef terriyaki roll, etc. We tried the fire roll ($15) and the Spider roll ($16) The fire roll was a deep fried roll stuffed with veggies, imitation crab, cream cheese and spicy shrimp. The cream cheese kind of steals away a lot of the flavour but I liked it! I wasn't a fan of the spider roll through because of how they breaded and deep fried the soft shell crab. I personally prefer the crisp kind. I find the soft shell crab taste gets lost once it's breaded and deep fried. Each specialty roll comes with a miso soup. Unagi sushi ($7 for 2 pieces) - standard, can't go wrong with this. Mix Tempura ($9) - Tempura was good - nice and crispy, came with 2 shrimp and a mix of veggies. My only comment is that I found their sauces a tad odd. Their soya sauce was really salty. The unagi sauce and the soya sauce for the tempura tasted a bit off - can't exactly explain what's off about it but it had a slight after taste and the flavour wasn't like other places. Overall, food was good. Definitely happy I found another decent sushi restaurant in the area. Gotta say their location is quite hidden though. Their menu is so cute and pretty! I'm actually interested in trying their bentos for lunch. You have the option of creating your own for $16.50 - picking one main dish like bulgogi, terryaki, sushi, etc., and a maki roll. It also comes with a salad, rice, and tamago!

Markham Sushi is honestly a true hidden gem. Prices have always been reasonable and I love how the food has always been consistent. Their sushi is always fresh with the perfect rice to fish ratio. They used to have an Earl Grey Creme Brulee which tasted heavenly but unfortunately due to covid I assume they no longer carry it at the moment... I wish I knew where it was from.. Other than their delicious party trays they also have a delicious beef udon I order everytime I go. The beef udon has a fragrant caramelized onion flavor making it so tasty and comforting. A bonus that it's in a stone pot so the udon is still hot throughout the whole meal. Markham Sushi also offers lunch and dinner bentos for a good price. I highly recommend giving this place a shot.

Worst Oyakodon in the GTA... everything is wrong about it... - grilled chicken (why?) that turned out really dry.... - overcooked eggs... - overpowered taste of ginger for no reason.... - and finally, to cover up the issue, the chef decided to put extra soy sauce.. lol

    Seafood Udon

Hidden in the quiet plaza at Wootten Way, Markham, this little gem is a cozy getaway for Japanese food lovers. The first thing that attracted me to this place is the ambiance. The dark wood paneling, the privacy for customers in its semi-partitioned seating. I also love their hand illustrated menu, as I also love doodling myself. My kids love the create your own bento set, and they always go for that. Today, being a very cold day, I decided to go for their piping hot udon soup. So I ordered their seafood udon soup. The tempura shrimp on top of my hot udon noodle was fried to perfection. If I can, I would give 4.5 stars instead of just 4... There are several Japanese restaurants in the Markham East area, but Markham Sushi has got to be my favorite. Maybe it is the friendly service, over the top customer service, or perhaps it is the menu.

The establishment has a casual dine-in setup, offering a relaxed atmosphere suitable for a quick meal or a short break during the day. Despite being a dine-in restaurant, all food is served in takeout boxes, which, while convenient for those on the go, slightly diminishes the overall dining experience for those choosing to eat on the premises. The food quality itself was acceptable. Reasonably portioned, adequately seasoned, and prepared in a timely manner. While it may not stand out as exceptional, it fulfills the expectations for a casual meal. However, the main issue that significantly impacted my experience was the cleanliness of the tables. The first table I sat at had a noticeably sticky surface, which immediately raised concerns about hygiene and maintenance. Assuming it was an isolated case, I moved to a second table, only to encounter the same problem. A third attempt produced similar results, suggesting that this is not an isolated incident but rather a recurring issue throughout the dining area. A sticky table surface not only detracts from comfort but also gives the impression that cleaning practices are not being properly observed between guests. This, unfortunately, overshadowed what could have been a satisfactory meal. In summary, while the restaurant offers decent food at a fair value, the overall dining environment requires improvement, particularly in the table cleanliness and food presentation. Until this concern is addressed, I would recommend opting for takeout instead of dining in, as the food quality is adequate, but the in-house dining conditions fall short of acceptable standards.

The portions were actually quite generous for omakase, which was a nice surprise. I especially liked how fresh everything tasted, and a few of the pieces had that soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture that makes omakase feel special. The savory bites in between also kept the meal interesting and made it feel more complete rather than repetitive. The only small thing for me was the pace. The chef served everything a little too quickly, so it felt hard at times to slow down and fully enjoy each piece before the next one arrived. Still, the quality, portion size, and overall value made this a very worthwhile experience. If you are looking for an omakase in Toronto that feels satisfying without being overly expensive, Mizu Sushi Omakase is definitely a place I would keep in mind.

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.
