Spicy salmon crunch and Tokyo rolls
    Louise C.

I have driven past it hundreds of times, but on the recommendation of a client - finally decided to try some rolls. I ordered the Tokyo and spicy salmon crunch rolls for takeout - delicious! The rolls were huge, perfectly rolled, fresh and so tasty. The staff were very pleasant and my order was ready quickly. Will be returning in the near future.

SERVICE: 5/5 Exceptional service. Friendly and courteous. The family that runs this restaurant is very sweet and nice. FOOD: 2/5 Mediocre quality of food at best. Sure, you get what you pay for. $5 maki are hard to come by in Toronto, let alone in this part of town. I suppose you get what you pay for. If you're after really cheap maki, then this place is hard to beat. If you're after quality and taste, then I would not recommend this place. Even though the people who run this restaurant are really great at making you feel welcome, I just didn't like the quality of rice and ingredients to warrant a second trip to this place.

Love this place. The owners are very nice and always do that little extra for their customers. The sushi is very good and very fresh.

The worst service. Order from Sushi Ocean. Tokyo sushi is twice the price and the order experience was terrible.

It was 4pm so there were only one or two other customers. We debated getting a platter, but couldn't resist their signature rolls. I ordered the seafood yaki udon, while my boyfriend got the chicken katsu. We also got the volcano spicy salmon dynamite roll to share. My udon tasted great, but it was about three times too saucy (took some home in a takeout container and liquid oozed everywhere). The rolls are definitely larger than normal, and each sushi was a two-biter. Tasted fantastic, but not at all spicy. If I'm ever in the area again, I would want to come back and try some of their other sushi. Service was great, and it was a solid meal.

I ordered a salmon teriyaki bento box with expectations that it would be very small but I was pleasantly surprised that the box was gigantic and I was so full after I finished eating it. The only thing I would complain about is that the wait was very long which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. It took us about an hour to get our food and the restaurant was very small and not even busy at that time.

Food is delicious and cozy environment More recently , we came here for the lunch here. We got chicken , salmon teriyaki bento box . Each bento comes with a protein , 5 tempura , large portion of rice .. soup .. salad and green tea . Oh and also some fruits . We also got the dynamite and sweet photos rolls . Everything tasted so delicious . I loved the teriyaki sauce and the chicken tasted sooo juicy . Yummy Price is so affordable given the value . The hot meals were $14 ( chicken ) and $14.50 ( salmon and the sushi combos were $13.75. Would definitely return if I am in the area

Many years later, I've returned and to my utter surprise the quality and value are still up to par. We've come back a few times in the last few weeks just because we have enjoyed this affordable meal so much. The chicken katsu comes with excellent and light tempura. The lunch special 2 rolls of futomaki and spicy honour roll is my new go to. As you can see in one of the photos, I ordered it with less rice and the ratio of filling to rice is now perfect. All lunch specials are served with a good serving of salad and miso soup. As of July 2024 the price is an incredible $13.25. Is it the best sushi downtown? Of course not. But for the price it is a quality that cannot be beat, and if the quality was at all poor or not fresh then I wouldn't return regardless of the price. Great, fast service. The tables move fairly quickly and the staff are efficient and friendly.

It may not look like much from the outside, but the food there is so amazing. Every time I come visit my family here in Toronto, I stop by at least once a day. Sometimes I've come twice in one day. The people there are so kind and food comes super quick. It's in a very convenient location and once again the food is very good. You'll notice that even though the quality of the fish isn't the best it still tastes like gold. In conclusion, if you're ever near the area, and you're a sushi lover, come eat at Sushi Lovers.

I've kept my eye on Sushi Lovers for a while because all the other reviews are either super old or they aren't supplemented with photos. So I got the teriyaki beef cup that was mentioned frequently in both Yelp and Google reviews. The rice is from the rice cooker but the beef they microwaved it (I hope it was precooked) with the veggies including broccoli, onions, and carrots. They topped it off with teriyaki sauce from this cauldron like pot. For $10.99 before tax, it has a good amount of meat to rice ratio. The teriyaki sauce is thick and flavourful which coats the veggies and beef. Rice is cooked well. I wished only it were a bit cheaper and that they didn't use a microwave to "stir-fry"-ify (screams) it. Lovely couple who run the restaurant! In fact, Psy (who sang viral Gangnam Style) took a photo with one of the owners!

Came for a casual birthday dinner - unfortunately (but understandably) they were not able to let us bring in a cake to eat (though they did hold onto it for us). First time here, so ordered the Zenbu Katsu and a Mazemen (udon). Zenbu Katsu comes with an assortment of Katsu - few selections of pork, shrimp, menchi (meatball), and veggies. Mazemen is a brothless udon to be mixed with sauce, pork, and an egg. Both items were very tasty. Each katsu was crispy and it was very nice to get the assortment (also just a lot of food). Favourite for me was the menchi. Mazemen was also very flavourful. Overall friendly service, and delicious food. Price is a little high, but reasonable. Would recommend.

Given the mixed opinions I heard from friends and the fact that Zenbu Katsu offers a vegetable katsu I cannot have due to a soy allergy, I kept it simple for a first visit. I went with the Rosu Katsu and added a Cheese Katsu on the side. Overall execution was right on point. Everything felt properly prepped and fried with care, and the variety of condiments actually made sense instead of feeling like an afterthought. The presentation and structure immediately reminded me of places like Saboten. The Cheese Katsu was especially well done, nicely melted inside with a clean crunch outside. If I am in the area and do not feel like driving up to Cotolet, this would easily be the go to options. Service was friendly and helpful without hovering. The only thing that stood out was texture consistency. The Cheese Katsu came out crispy, while the Rosu Katsu leaned a bit soggy, which was unexpected given how well everything else was executed. That said, kitchens have off moments, and it did not take away from the overall experience. I enjoyed it enough that I am genuinely curious about their gyukatsu next time. After being let down by Kyoto Katsugyu recently, I am quietly optimistic this might do it better.
