I never heard of Nichiban before, but I instantly recognized the location as another favourite food joint is located adjacent to them (Fat Ninja). We decided to give them a try. I can't say we weren't a bit hesitant when we arrived as they are located at the back of the plaza, away from the limited street frontage the plaza could afford. However, I can say with confidence that we were very happy we ate at Nichiban! The service was great, the prices were excellent and most importantly, the food was spectacular! The ingredients were very fresh and full of flavour! The bento box I ordered was well prepared and the food was just right. The chicken katsu was extremely tasty and the gravy was delicious! I loved the tempura: just enough batter to be flavourable and not overwhelming. I could actually see the vegetables underneath the batter, unlike other restaurants that simply oversaturate the batter. The sushi plates were also very good; the sashimi was ultra fresh and the presentation was great! Someone ordered the beef teriyaki bento box and everything was just right!
