Spider roll yumminess!!!!
RA J.

Pearl Sushi is my weekly go-to sushi spot! Since moving to the GTA I've tried quite a few sushi places but this is the best place in the area that I live that I have experienced so far. It's all about the quality for me when it comes to sushi. I often order the spider roll, dynamite roll, spicy tuna, or spicy crab roll. They often give miso soup or other goodies for a large order. I need to expand my sushi pallet when I order again. Their customer service is always great. They have plenty of parking for their restaurant.

First time ordering and loved it! I decided to get the medium combination party tray for the 3 of us and it was more than enough. We even got free gyozas and miso soup which was a plus. Sashimi was nice and thick, nigiri sushi was good - good rice and fish ratio, the flavour of the rolls were good but pieces are too big for my liking. Overall everything was really fresh and yummy! Just on the pricier side compared to other places though.

+.5 for service A neighbourhood sushi joint in Richmond Hill. Not much to comment except if you're expecting exotic kinds of sushi and rolls along the levels of Kiu, you won't get it here. However, for standard Japanese and Korean fare without much expectations this place does pretty good. I had the rainbow roll, and despite the size it was actually quite filling and tasted good. For a small place that's largely barebones, the prices are quite affordable and the overall food quality serves the area well. Not a place I'd visit if I'm not in the area, but I'd visit if it's takeout for a friend living in the neighbourhood.

Small combination party tray: was a disappointment due to the ratio of fish/rice and the cuts of the sashimi. It comes with a Green Dragon and California roll which were decent. Salmon Lover's: almost swayed the rating closer to 4 stars. It was the star of the show - spicy salmon roll with torched salmon on top.

Salmon Lover's Roll~

Okay, so I typically almost NEVER go to any new sushi spots because I like what I like, and I know what I know, but after trying this little Japanese restaurant that I've had my eye on..... I now know that you should always continue to try new things and new places! -Maki roll size is HUGE -Very interesting maki creations on the menu -Kind and caring service -Online ordering available! What did I get? -[SALMON LOVER'S ROLL] $14.00 This was a roll that had spicy salmon and avocado on the inside. (I'm drooling already because spicy salmon is my absolute FAVORITE) It was then topped with TORCHED salmon, salmon roe, mayo, and green onions! What a combination of YUM in each bite~ I made the mistake of eating only the spicy salmon inside the roll and found it could have been more flavorful but since rolls aren't intended to be eaten in a dissected manner, that's on me, haha. DEFINITELY coming back to try some of their other interesting maki~

Very pretty and cute place to take a date for sushi! Looks New and modern just like photos. Did a take order for lunch, my meal was made perfectly and presented neatly. Simple roll plate but nicely done, good size for lunch and everything tasted right from sushi rice to freshness of salmon. Pleasantly surprised sushi was Japanese style and taste and not korean like- as I noticed the menu was a Japanese Korean fushion. Service was very friendly and polite, easy to place order over phone. Only strange part was the wasabi was not spicy. I had spread it like butter over a maki and only tasted slightly hot, no tears! Location is TRICKY: Plaza is ONLY accessible coming from the north into a small parking lot behind the plaza. If coming from the south on Bayview- make first 2 lefts and that side street connects you right to parking lot. Entrance from Bayview sidewalk or from behind from parking lot. Take out only deal: Pay by cash save on tax Wouldn't hesitate to come back when the sushi craving calls.

Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura Lunch Bento - $12

This spot seems to always change restaurants every time I drive by. Although I'm pleased that there is another sushi place around my area with lunch specials! Walked in at noon and was surprised to be the only ones inside. The place is spacious overall and you shouldn't have a difficult time parking as there is a lot in the back. Ordered the Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura Lunch Special and was pleased overall. The box includes the glass noodles and 2 pieces of gyoza as well which is a welcome addition. The tempura was decent, although I would have preferred it to have a bit less oil but it still had that crunch. They serve edamame which I thought at first was a bonus but I realized it was to make up for the lack of salad. The california rolls in the box are standard as is the miso soup. There is a pretty large chunk of rice which is nice considering many places skimp on it. For ~$12, the lunch bentos are fantastic and you'd be hard pressed to find a place that offers solid quality, quantity, and price. Will return to try other things on the menu.

Parking in the back

If you are a sushi lover, and have a desire to indulge in some marvelous and fresh food made to order, you best hurry up and bookmark Pearl Sushi right away! A recently opened establishment (approx October 2018), Pearl Sushi offers a wide range of options at relatively affordable prices. From the exterior, you may ot be aware that there is generally plenty of parking in the back, you just have to go up to the next set of lights and make a left if you are heading north on Baview. You will find this gem as an anchor to a few quaint places such as a bakery, in the tiny strip plaza at the northwest corner of Major Mac and Baview. With a warm greeting and hot tea, the service is attentive and fast. We started with some fresh veg and shrimp tempura and an order of Okonomiyaki pancake. The tempura batter was light and crisp, with a side of dipping sauce. The pancake was also good but would have benefitted from the transitional mayo in addition to the sauce (we can never compare to my favorite Okonomi house, which also offers a fuĺl pancake for less than the $10.00 charged here for a smaller version). We ordered the $40.00 assorted sushi and sashimi platter, which was a lovely assortment of fresh fish and also came with a huge dragon roll which was delicious. The tuna and other sashimi were like butter, and everything was equally awesome. With so much food, we had the rest to go, and even the take away was wrapped up and presented nicely. This place should be jamming in a Saturday. I would encourage all who appreciates a good time and some great sushi take a trip of to Pearl's. Just dint let the out of place country music throw you off! -Zuk

Chirashi don
Vincent S.

The food quality was not horrible, but was a bit lack luster. I think for $23 the chirashi don could have looked a bit more substantial. I have had this item from a variety of places and I would call this not the worst of the best. It was mostly rice, which is a very common cost saving measure. The fish was decently thick and was of decent quality. Would likely not order this item again Had a 4.8/5 rating on door dash, which I found surprising given how differently the items arrived compared to the image on their store menu. The octopus item did not seem fresh and had an off color and appearance but tasted adequate.

I was surprised to find out that this restaurant has been taken over and is under a new management. The menu shown on Yelp is different from the one at the restaurant. Nevertheless, I ordered a plate of assorted sushi and sashimi and an order of a large sake. It came with a complimentary noodles, a salad and a bowl of miso soup. Since the restaurant has no large bottle for the sake, I was served with two small bottles of sake. The waitress was kind enough to heat up the sake for me when it became cold. The cut of sashimi was thick and I felt that the portion was generous. Fish were fresh. After dinner, there was another complimentary dessert, a probiotic beverage. Overall, the food and service were not bad. I was just ignored by the fly around us throughout the dinner time.

First time going to this place. It is run by Korean people. It is reasonable new, they opened under a year ago and replaced the burger place that was there. The parking is okay, we came around 7:30 pm and it wasn't too bad at all on a weekday. Lot of space. Atmosphere 3/5 Pretty average, menus are well kept and clean, so far due to reasonably new. Nothing really stands out. Not really a fan of the wooden framework around the kitchen and serving area. It is hard to get a hold of the wait staff when you can't really see them. Service 3/5 After several months, they still haven't really gotten the hang of it. They organize their orders poorly especially with they have takeout orders coming in. We were advised to wait like half an hour to forty-five minutes for our order. They did however offered us free really small order of edamame. So if you are hungry and want to dine in somewhere, you can try your luck here. Food 4/5 The food was pretty good for the area. The quality is better than some other sushi joints in the area. They have a decent variety for fish, mostly the typical stuff. Their most expensive is sea urchin which is seasonal pricing. If you are looking for more variety then I advise to go elsewhere. If you are okay with the typical then this is a good place to consider. We ordered a love boat A, vegetable and shrimp tempura, and a double spicy Salmon roll. I enjoyed every bite. Overall, food versus value, it is definitely on the higher side. I have visited other sushi joints in the area that offer same quality but cheaper. But still definitely a good place to try.

This new sushi place recently opened in the corner plaza near Major Mac and Bayview! I was super excited to try this restaurant out because of the great reviews I've seen at other locations. It is right across from Bayview S.S and gets quite busy at 11:30AM, so make sure to stray away from that time! I got the chicken teriyaki bento box that was rather affordable at $10. It included 3 California rolls, 2 dumplings, vermicelli side dish, chicken teriyaki and rice. It came with miso soup and salad as a set of side dishes. It was a very good portion and pretty affordable for how much food was provided. The chicken was very standard and the flavouring of the teriyaki didn't seem to be cooked into the meat. It seemed as if the chicken and the sauce were 2 separate entities. The sushi was really fresh and added a tasty component to the combo. However, the food took a VERY VERY long time to make - this makes sense because it is a new restaurant but it would have been nice for all the dishes of the same party to be presented at approximately the same time. My friends ordered some sushi rolls and had very positive things to say about it. The plating is awesome and looks great in terms of presentation. I would highly recommend getting a few trays or sushi rolls with a couple of people just because it is a sushi franchise. The service was super great, the waiter would come around pretty often to refill our tea and the owners and sushi makers would welcome us in and out of the restaurant. Overall, a pretty positive experience - the spacing is rather small and comfy but cannot accommodate for many people. Give this place a try!

Taki is a fine dining Japanese restaurant located in the busy commerical areas of Richmond Hill…read more We recently had lunch here for a special occasion. The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

We were ushered through the tranquil restaurant and seated at the sushi bar, a zen ambience. We chose the $55 sushi+sashimi omakase lunch course, and it didn't disappoint. The eight pieces of nigiri featured a somewhat typical selection of fish (and hotate/scallop), but slightly edgy and unique in the choice of seasoning and flavours, prepared by Chef Takinami with all the pomp and ceremony and you would expect from fine omakase. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed from piece to piece; the wait staff were attentive as would be expected from a high-end Japanese restaurant, on par with omakases that cost three times as much. Overall, incredible value on the meal, for both the food and experience. We couldn't help but look around at what the regulars were enjoying (in addition to their omakase nigiri) -- botan ebi nigiri with deep fried shrimp heads, chawanmushi, cooked dishes featuring monk fish livers, tempura appetizers and more... some great ideas for our next visit!
