Torched salmon sushi & Roll Set

Sushi Kombu has the BEST sushi!!! I've been to Sushi Kombu a couple times now and I'm always so impressed by the quality and size of their sushi. For the price, it's truly amazing!!! I love ordering their kombu sets (less decision making). Particularly the "Torched salmon sushi & Roll Set." I also ordered their salmon avocado roll this time and it was SO FRESH and I was impressed by the amount of salmon they put in the roll. The shrimp tempura I ordered was also so crispy and had a big piece of shrimp in it. There's a few seats for you to dine in if you choose to! Great to utilize when it's not too busy. I always like to come here for sushi! Even if it's far, it's worth the drive :) Huge shoutout to the three owners for doing an amazing job!!

Absolutely must try. Affordable for the quality they provide! We've had party tray E and D. Both were delicious. Trays do NOT have filler items, just good cuts, good fish, great quality! Their preparation method makes the fish less wet, giving a denser chew/meatier mouth-feel. The chefs are super friendly, I chatted a bit while waiting for my order. I love salmon, but their spicy scallop has become my favourite! Takeout spot, has a few counter stools and a narrow table ledge by the windows.

Placed an order online for pick up and we came a bit early but the sushi chefs were so kind to make it as soon as possible for us to pick up. When we got home and opened up the bag, we were shocked to see how good the quality sushi was and sashimi. Everything was meticulously put together and everything was soo tasty and super fresh. We enjoyed every bite and will come back again definitely to re-order again.

So glad I got recommended this spot! They're previously omakase chefs with years of experience. I would say tier is similar to jsan but this was BETTER. The rolls were fat and the fish was flavorful and silky smooth. I got party tray B! They have a few bar seats but it's basically a take out spot. I hope they open up a restaurant :)

Sushi Kombu definitely deserves all the hype! You may be seeing everyone post it and there's a reason why! Premium sushi takeout at a great price, what more can you ask for? when you first walk in, you can smell the fresh smell of sushi being made and greeted by the friendly staff. I got the 12 pc for $18, it came with an assortment of sushi and it felt like a great deal! There's a Cash discount and you're able to order Online then pay in person. Love it! I will definitely be coming back to try a bigger platter and other appetizers. Ambiance is causal, small store with only window seats with the windows showcasing brightness to the store.

A fine sushi take out spot in Scarborough that served in square boxes. We ordered the Party Tray E that had a good mix of salmon sashimi, salmon torched rolls, a red dragon roll and spicy scallop and spicy salmon roll for $75 ($70 if paid in cash). The rolls were delicious, high quality, fresh and very big. Much better than the other counterparts in the area that serve a similar 'fancy box' sushi. I recommend calling ahead as they are busy. There are a few counter seats but this is mostly a take out place.

My all time favourite spot for sushi, rolls, and sashimi. I get asked if I'm sponsored but I'm not, I pay for all my food! I order from Sushi Kombu almost every day and eat it all solo LOL. The staff are super friendly~ My favourites: Tuna Belly, Salmon Belly, Huntsville Roll, Party Tray D, and the Sashimi Set

We wanted to try this restaurant and decided to start with the Sushi & Rolls combo. Before wrapping up our takeout order, the chef walked over to us with our box of sushi and explained what the different sushi was along with some tips for enjoying it. We were really impressed by this service and how kind all the staff were. When we tasted the sushi we were blown away by the incredible freshness and texture of the fish. I love dragon rolls and this was by far the crispiest shrimp tempura I've ever had in a roll, compared to the soggy tempura I usually get elsewhere. Looking back I wish we had ordered a bigger platter because this sushi is amazing, we'll definitely be back soon!

Usually I try a new sushi spot by the salmon selection, tonight I ordered the salmon set and the 18 pieces sashimi set. The salmon sashimi was so fresh and no small bones like some other resturant. The spicy salmon roll, I love it how there is less rice and more fish in terms of the proportion. The 18 pieces sashimi set was a good variety and all the fish tasted good in the set. I will definitely come back again! Already thinking about ordering larger trays for future parties.

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

We got a bunch of dishes to share and overall liked most things but some things (like the oyster) unfortunately didn't hit as well. Wagyu - thin slices but very tender and very flavorful with the cheese - surprised by how well the flavor combo worked out. Tofu - easily one of my fave agedashi tofu. Huge tofu slices with very chewy outer texture, a bit gelatinous . Really went well with the sauce and toppings Carbonara - nice chewy texture to the udon, not too soft and not too firm. The sauce was nice and creamy. Not as truffley as I thought it would be, wish it was a little more but it was still pretty good Oyster - least favorite of all the dishes we got today. It was a bit sour and the cheese felt like it didn't really help the flavor profile of the oysters. It was super oily from the cheese, felt like it was drowning in cheese/oil flavor Cod - it looks good but something is lacking, maybe in taste? Feel like maybe the marinade did not penetrate enough. The texture is still nice and soft , with a crisp skin . Also was a bit too oily for our liking, compared to other miso cod we have had. It was also a relatively smaller piece of cod. Overall, the appetizers were really good! The oyster and cod were a bit disappointing. Would come back for the carbonara and the other appetizers mentioned though!
