I came here on my birthday and got a free Double Salmon Maki roll along with order a bunch of other rolls from their menu. Everything tasted great and also looked beautiful. Toro is very aesthetic with their sushi which I appreciate the effort. Service was great and they helped me navigate their app when using my birthday promo. Highly recommend coming here.

Stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday and found the place moderately busy, with plenty of seating available and no line to order--always a good sign! I'm visiting from California and was being shown around Toronto and the surrounding areas, so I didn't quite know what to expect. The restaurant has more of a takeout vibe--you order at the counter, and your food comes in a to-go box whether you're dining in or taking it to go. We ordered three rolls: the Tataki Maki, the Paradise, and the Crouching Tiger. Prices were around $8-$9 USD per roll, which honestly felt like a steal. Sushi prices in California just keep climbing, so it was a treat to enjoy great quality at such a reasonable cost. As for the food--it was excellent! The sushi tasted fresh, well-balanced, and not overly sauced (which I appreciated). All three rolls were great, but the Tataki Maki was definitely my favorite--I'm a huge fan of yellowtail tuna, and this roll hit the spot. I really wish we had something like this back in my city. I'm sure there are similar spots in the Bay Area, LA, or San Diego, but not so much in inland California. And certainly not at these prices! Overall, I'd absolutely come back the next time I'm in Canada. Great food, solid value, and a super easy, casual experience.

Specialty rolls really are nothing like you've seen before (probably)! I consider toro toro a bit of a fancy splurge to treat yourself, and even then, the value seems to have decreased in recent times. Maybe just over a year between visits, some rolls are noticeably smaller. Don't get me wrong, this spot is still delicious, just a bit less worth than its price point. [Pics from first visit in 2022.. lol]

This used to be our go to for sushi in the GTA but the quality of the Tasting Box for Two (40 pieces for $80) has diminished over the years which is very disappointing. If I go back, which won't be for a while, I'd stick with their poke bowls or wraps instead of the large platters.

Love their poke bowl. It's fresh, packed with flavours and lots of toppings. Very sizeable portion as well.

I don't understand the hype around this place... After a shopping trip at Vaughan Mills, we decided to grab sushi here for a quick dinner. The moment we got inside there were many people already waiting for their orders. We luckily managed to find a table so we could dine in to eat. We went up to the counter to order, and it ended up taking over 45 minutes till our food was ready. I'll say the presentation definitely looks good, but aside from that, these sushi itself did not taste that fresh. With the long wait time as well, I don't think I would visit again, as there are plenty of other options for better tasting sushi.

Toro Toro Sushi is specialized in torched maki roll, with fancy names such as Emperor & Empress, Hidden Dragon, Fantacy, all full of flavors ( price ranged from $11 to $14, highly recommended). Their poke bowel is also good with fresh and yummy ingredients. The store is quite small, only about 10 tables for 2 people setting, very crowded especially when half of the store with people standing and waiting to take out. Not a great place to dine in. The service is ok, efficient, but seldom see smiles. I would recommend to take out some speciality rolls and poke bowel, not to dine in. We went today to take out Tasting box for 2, it has about 10 different speciality rolls and some salmon sashimi, good value if you would like to try many different speciality rolls.

I ordered the Tasting Box for Two for my boyfriend and me to celebrate our anniversary, and we absolutely loved it! To our surprise, we couldn't finish the whole box because there was so much food, and the variety was incredible. You can definitely tell how much care the company puts into the quality and presentation of their food. Although we didn't dine in, I got a glimpse of the interior while waiting, and it was so pretty. Overall, great food, thoughtful presentation, and a wonderful experience!

If you hate sushi and being able to hear the person you're dining with you'll love this place which is to say it felt like sushi for white people and the music was way too loud.

My friend took me to this restaurant on a Friday, as she had great experience here. We arrived just after 7p.m., so the place was quite busy. It was small yet had sufficient seating. The decor was simple and clean- the mix of light brown, white and black in various shapes added interest without being overwhelming. Unlike a traditional restaurant, you would go and place your order at the counter. Then when your order was ready, the staff would call your number (on the receipt) and you pick it up. The menu was available on the wall, as well as by the counter. There were so many mouthwatering items, so I had a difficult time picking! Finally, I chose Lobster and Shrimp Poke Bowl and The Empress roll. My friend picked Classic Poke. When our order was ready, we were ready to eat! My poke bowl was delicious- there was good amount of lobster and shrimp, along with the veggies, so I was very happy. My friend said she also enjoyed her poke bowl- the quality and the freshness of the ingredients. We shared The Empress roll and it was delicious as well! My friend shared that there is another location in downtown Toronto, just north of Yonge and Bloor. So I can't wait to go again. If you are looking to taste fresh sushi, drop by here!

So good!! As per usual lol. We ordered a takeout box that was packaged amazingly. It was very well thought and you could tell time was taken for presentation. And they did not stop there, the food tasted just as good. Every bite was a decadent surprise and was worth every dollar. We ended up eating inside but I will say the seating is a bit limited inside. The design of the space is also pretty standard. Location makes me feel like its more for takeout. Overall, food and service were definitely show stoppers and I will definitely be eating here again.

This place is similar to Sushi Shop but with fewer varieties. I was quite annoyed by the box packaging; the aburi sushi pieces couldn't hold themselves together and fell apart easily when I tried to pick them up with chopsticks. I don't understand why they use paper boxes even for dine-in--it's not environmentally friendly. The sushi was okay, but not impressive. We tried the Forbidden Roll, Aburi Maguro Oshi, and Classic Poke Bowl. The seaweed was rubbery, and the rice seemed like regular rice with a touch of rice vinegar. The poke bowl was overwhelmed by sauce; it felt like we were eating a bowl of sauce rather than ingredients. The booth was pretty dirty with unclean tables and grease on the seats, but they provided Lysol so we used it to clean our seating area. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. The box experience itself was a negative dining experience--imagine the frustration of trying to pick up a piece of sushi and having it fall apart. I still prefer Sushi Shop. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 2.5/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 2.5/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 3/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 3/5 OVERALL - 2.75

One of the best sushi in the area. Food is so good you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The tuna is amazing. Nice space and decor. Good service and friendly service. Most people take out meals but they have a few tables.

The moment you walk in, one detail that stood out to me was the Mahayana Buddhist altar blessing the owner and visitors with health and prosperity. As a Taiwanese person, that instantly felt relatable and oddly comforting--like being welcomed into someone's home. Although the restaurant is Vietnamese-owned, the Japanese food here is absolutely top-notch. I've visited three times so far, and the quality of their bento boxes has been impressively consistent every single time. My personal favorite is the chicken katsu bento. The chicken is incredibly fresh and flavorful. Unlike many places where chicken katsu can end up greasy or heavy, Ikigai's version is perfectly crispy and airy on the outside while staying juicy and tender inside. Paired with their tangy, addictive katsu sauce, every bite just makes you want the next one immediately. I'm also a big fan of their maki rolls and tempura. You can genuinely taste the care and quality in the food--even the side salad and miso soup feel thoughtfully prepared. Considering the quality, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. The bento box is around $20 if you pay cash, which feels like a great deal. The space itself is cozy, spotless, and welcoming, and the service has always been excellent. I genuinely love this place and will definitely keep coming back.

Their menu offers a huge variety from sushi sets, donburis, stone bowl rice, tacos, sushi, party trays and even the trendy inari sushi. I was worried it might be small like an app but it came with two tacos and enough for me as a meal though a bit on the higher end in price. *Chicken katsu curry $26 3/5 - The curry was a very thin water down consistency unlike what we're used to in Japanese curries. I remember the katsu also being a bit dry but it is a good quality white meat. I would pass on the curry next time and ordered their sushi instead. The restaurant dining space isn't big but their restaurant does stretch across 3 storefronts and they use it to host events, but the event space was closed off and not visible from the outside or inside without asking a server. Their website advertises luxury ambiance, but the restaurant gives me mid-range restaurant or bar feel perhaps from the blue lights or the font, layout of the menu and furnishings. Perhaps the luxury ambiance is more found in the closed off event space. I was curious about the event space, but don't have upcoming personal events that I'll need to use one so I didn't inquire. My suggestion would probably be to rotate the TV screens instead of just the menu to include pictures of the event space, which could inspire customers to consider it for a future event.
