We stopped in for breakfast. It is a very casual feel and I felt comfortable in my jeans and tee shirt. They have a buffet and I usually skip buffets. I have more bad than good experiences with them. I am several days into a stay at the Hyatt Regency Columbus and have been very impressed by the quality food, great service, and the convenience of having breakfast at the Market Stand Cafe. We used the Globalist breakfast benefit to cover breakfast for up to two adults. We certainly were full after each meal (and quite content). The hours are convenient, which are daily from 6:30-11 AM for breakfast and 11 AM-2 PM for lunch. We only went for breakfast. The buffet is only offered on weekends or when the hotel is quite busy. On my first day, I ordered a dish from the menu, which was a regional specialty called the Buckeye Skillet, consisting of soft scrambled cage free eggs, crispy potatoes, peppers, onions, pork sausage, cheddar cheese, and cilantro garlic sauce. I substituted bacon instead of pork sausage and hard scrambled eggs instead of soft scrambled eggs. On my second day, I chose the breakfast buffet, which consists of made-to-order omelets or eggs any style, cage-free scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, seasonal fruit, Greek yogurt, assorted pastries, bread and bagels. Both days, I ordered herbal tea with orange juice. While the buffet was certainly good, the Buckeye Skillet was absolutely delicious! The servers did a great job anticipated my needs. They offered drinks to go and continued checking on us. They also gave us great recommendations including what to get at the buffet. I got a cheese, bacon, and onion omelet, which was tasty. I appreciated the friendly staff who anticipated needs and were helpful (which really was all of the staff). Amazing restaurant by general standards, let alone one in a hotel. Open kitchen, so you can tell that it is clean and active, not just a glorified microwave room. Very delicious food, at a reasonable price for being in a hotel, and really about the same price as the food court in the convention center. One time we had to wait an hour for the dinner, but the manager brought the food out to us and comped the bill without us even asking. I recommend the brisket, both in a sandwich and as a dinner plate. read more

Had lunch July 14 & 15 2024 during a convention. We stay in the hotel and have eaten here for the last several years. Never had an issue and always had good food so we came back. Sandwich and side salad both days. Sandwich was delicious. Salad was as well quite large for a side salad. First day everything was great zero complaints. Day two, let's say there was extra protein in the salad. I got 3/4 of the way through it and something moved. There was a very small cockroach chilling on a chunk of lettuce. We were with clients and did not make a scene. Alerted the server who apologized. Mg boss was discussing the bill and how they took something off. As if that was not enough, it got better. I swear I cannot make this up. As boss signed the tab a sparrow dropped a gift on the table inches from the bill. Server wiped it away when picking up receipt. Later talked to boss and found they took $9 off the bill. Boss said he thought this was not a good resolution but was not about to make a scene in front of clients. Food was good,service was efficient. Like the others mentioned, this place is pretty empty all the time but they do have the staff to support more people. There is a "thoughtfully sourced" full buffet that includes an omelet station but at $17 and change, I couldn't see anything that would make it worthwhile. I ordered the banana oat pancakes and while the title indicates "pancake" I did end up with three! The coffee is $3.50 because they say it's Starbucks but who really knows. Choose your own ingredients omelet bar, then a couple big warmers full of chicken sausage links, bacon, breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, and forgettable rubber French toast. Also had a couple of bagels, cinnamon rolls, and croissants. There were some prepackaged cereals, vat of hot but artificial maple syrup to go with no pancakes to be found. Honestly the best thing there was the unstirred flour-laden gravy which instead of chunks of sausage had chunks of overcooked flour which meant biscuits and gravy flavored gravy! This is the same breakfast except the omelet bar that I'd pay zero dollars for at any other hotel and expect for free upon waking in the AM. Really nothing special at all. Odd how the fancy places make you pay for the normally complimentary things like breakfast and internet, right? Anyways, stay away unless you're desperate to drop $20. read more

After waiting for 10 mins to be acknowledged (mind you I wasn't the only one there waiting) I was seated and waited another 20 mins before I left. A waiter never came to take my order. I was served a glass of water and that's all. I don't know if they are short staffed but a simple "I'll be with you in a minute" would have sufficed. I had breakfast here. Steak and eggs. Food was delicious but took a while to be cooked. I could have opted for a buffet option but decided I did not want to get up nor did I feel like eating that much. None the less the food portion size was big. The service was also a but spotty as I had to ask for a cup of coffee, then additionally for creme to be brought over. It is conveniently located inside the Hyatt Regency so it's a quick elevator ride down to the 2nd floor. read more

Because its tucked away in the second floor of the Hyatt's lobby, I don't think many people realize that its there. The service here is generally good. They have a great selection in salads, and this is where I head when I'm in the mood for one. It's an especially great place to have lunch on a sunny day in winter as the restaurant has floor to sky windows with a great view of the city. read more

Market stand cafe is conveniently located on the second floor of the Hyatt and is very easily accessible from the lobby or the hotel elevators. During the morning, they have a bunch of breakfast items like French toast and a breakfast meal with eggs and bacon and such. They also have a breakfast buffet. I skipped breakfast here but did order dinner which was just about average. The first red flag was how long it took for the food to get ready. It was around 8, the restaurant was nearly empty and it took over 30mins. I ordered some pan seared salmon from their "healthy" menu and it lacked any flavor at all. It didn't seem to have any seasoning at all, not even salt and pepper. You can pick a sauce and I went with the garlic butter, which I thought would be on top of the salmon. Thankfully it was on the side because it wasn't that good. The best part of the meal were the two sides, the mash potatoes and the cauliflower. The mashed potatoes were fresh, and honestly had more flavor than the salmon. The cauliflower had some type of seasoning/herbs on it (go figure), which was overwhelming but was bearable when scooped with the veggies. There are so many better options along high street and surrounding the hotel, better to go out and find food. read more

For the high price point of the food the quality of the food was disappointing. The server was not attentive. I had to ask multiple times for cream for my coffee and by the time I got it my coffee was cold. My meal was cold when it finally came. The dining room was not full and it still took over 40 min to get our meals after we ordered. We had breakfast the next day. $7 for oatmeal? The buffet was $17 with a small selection although it did include the omelet station. read more

I start by noting that I've never before been tempted to write a restaurant review. The "food" at the Market Stand Cafe is of exceedingly small portions, not at all flavorful, not as described on the menu, and way over-priced. On July 11, 2012 I ate linch at this restaurant, supposedly ordering a Caesar Salad. The amount of lettuce was about $0.25-worth..there was no cheese, no dressing and the promised croutons were limited to a "slice" of bread that was tasteless (no garlic taste) and so thin that it was transparent. Others at my lunch, ordering different menu items, had similar quality issues. Avoid this restaurant..it is a rip-off. read more
