Market Market House Grilled Reuben Sandwich

I tried this place 10 years later and it still hits every bite amazing East Coast style sandwich, super friendly owner

Came for a late lunch on a Monday afternoon. Place is pretty unassuming and wasn't busy when I walked in. Opted for the pastrami sandwich and my god, it's a lot of meat! It's quickly warmed up on the griddle. In hindsight, I should have done half and saved the other half but I powered through the whole sandwich and basically felt full the rest of the day. They also give you potato salad, veggies on the side (my preference!) and a little cookie. My co-worker ate some of the potato salad and said it was mustard-y (not my thing). Service was quick and friendly and I grabbed a diet Dr. Pepper (win!) to go. Wouldn't hesitate to come back and grab another sandwich the next time I'm downtown.

Food? Great! I hadn't eaten all day because of travel and this place hit the spot. They have sauce on the tables if you choose to dine in and of course their great horseradish to use on your sandwich (which is great enough by itself). Everything seemed wonderful, sandwhich was steaming and lovely. Service was great, really friendly people! Ambiance? Exactly what I want, I live for that. 1960's vibe, yellow walls from gas grill. IT MAKES IT TASTE BETTER. Lovely spot I'd love to come back to.

Hands down the best sandwich I had in Seattle - this small inconspicuous shop is located right in the middle of a bunch of hotels and seemingly out of place. Don't skip it though, because the owners are friendly, the food is delicious, and the vibes are great. I was recommended the Market Reuben and asked for it with 1/2 pastrami and 1/2 corned beef. The sandwich itself was huge and came with potato salad and pickles (and a cookie!) - it was easily enough to last me for two meals. The sandwich itself was phenomenal - perfectly seasoned and tender beef, a slight tang from the sauerkraut - it gives Katz in NYC a run for its money. If you're ever in Seattle, this is a must visit for sure

Pastrami dip is probably one of the best sandwiches I have had. Bread is fresh, the pastrami is tender, just all around quality. Customer service A+

Market house meats looks like your typical NY deli from the inside and out. On street paid parking can be difficult at times, we lucked out and got a spot close by. Simple menu makes it easy to order. We got the Reuben served with potato salad and a pickle. They make the sandwiches right in front of you, so you can see it's fresh. Lots of corned beef piled high on rye bread with kraut, small horseradish on the side. The sandwich was goodness through and through. Warm meat and sauerkraut were delicious. The potato salad was standard and the pickle was good. Worth the price and the visit. The ambiance is nothing to behold, go for the meat.

Hands down! The best Deli in Seattle! We loved the vibe, the food and the people there! Couldn't have asked for anything more! We got the Reuben and the Philly and both were just so delicious. Will definitely come back! You have to go here!!

I finally made it this place and it did not disappoint. The portions are gigantic so it justifies the costs. You'll be eating for 2-3 meals! Luckily they do offer 1/2 sandwich portions- even those are huge. I got 1/2 pastrami dip and it come w soup or chips bi chose split pea soup. Also has pickle, potato salad and small cookie. Looks like a Seattle institution w a regular following. They are open early and also serve breakfast sandwiches and burritos w corned beef or pastrami as options. They also serve other things but it would be wrong to not get either pastrami or corned beef.

Exactly what you want your neighborhood deli to be: succulent meats stacked high on fresh bread, friendly service, and portions so big the fries arrive falling off the pile. I got the CPR. Corned beef, pastrami, and roast beef layered more than an inch deep and stuffed between a giant hoagie roll. You really can taste all three meats. Every bite brings the briny flavor of the corned beef, the peppery pastrami, and the savory roast beef. Served with their homemade horseradish (yum!) and potato salad. Add a bottle of Coke--the Mexican kind that comes in a glass bottle and uses real sugar--and relax while you lunch your cares away. Popular among locals and visitors!

The previous visits to Market House Meats were pre-Yelp and during the pandemic, so it was nice to revisit it on 5/24/25. I managed to snag a nearby parking spot and thankfully there was absolutely no line. I placed an order for the pastrami on marbled rye. It's as I remembered it - pastrami and Swiss cheese heated up on the flat top. The shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and red onion kept separate. Packets of mayonnaise and mustard plus horseradish were provided, plus potato salad, pickle spear, and the token Hydrox cookie. Pretty mammoth, generous takeout that it was easily shared between myself and The Homie. Meaty goodness that allowed each of us to customize it to our liking. Friendly service, no frills interior, and menu items that are major ROI and easily shareable. Put this on your radar screen if you are a sandwich lover that wants major bang for your dining buck in today's economy.

Large hearty sandwiches. No frills but lots of meat and slightly pricey. Quick friendly service, this place is homey and feels cozy. Loved my breakfast burrito with chorizo and my coworker enjoyed her pastrami sandwich.

Excellent lunch option in the Denny Triangle / Downtown Seattle area. I went here a bit after 1pm and it was not busy. You take a paper menu and pen and indicate your name and order, and hand it to the people behind the counter and they will prepare your order accordingly. After a few minutes, they rang me up and I sat anywhere I wanted. Fairly fast casual ambience I ordered the half grilled Reuben which has corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing. The half sandwich also comes with potato salad, horseradish, and cookie, on top of a cup of split pea soup. For a solo diner, this is more than enough. Even though the regular sandwich was $22 and the half is $17, the addition of the split pea soup and not having to worry about leftovers was decent. Besides, the portions are huge - you can see the half sandwich has so much meat already! Not only was there a large quantity, but also it was high quality. The meat is smoky and tender, with just the right amount of fat. The sauerkraut was not too strong and mixes well with the thousand island dressing. Pea soup was decent and a good pairing with the sandwich. Overall, this is an excellent lunch spot though only understandably opens during lunch time.

Wow. Cannot get over how awesome this place is. A Seattle institution that I have been wanting to try for at least 6 years. Today was the day. Definitely bring a friend because there's no way you can eat a whole sandwich! The staff were incredibly kind and happily split my friend and i's pastrami sandwich order. The meat was juicy and tender, bread was very substantial and not dry whatsoever, and cheese was perfectly melted. Super old school sort of deli vibe in there, which I really admire. We will be coming back to try one of their dip sandwiches next! Yum.

What is the parking situation? Lot? or on street only? thanks! JB/Seattle

Street parking only. Sometimes could be difficult but worth it as the next best place is in NYC which has parking problem too!

    How are the cold sandwiches?

Robert, I have only had the hot sandwiches, but the meat is amazing, can't imagine it would make a difference. keithj

We recently started going to one of their locations outside of Seattle whenever we were in the area. The service remains flawless. It's one of the few butcher shops that consistently deserves a tip but they are always a bit extra! This week, we did a perfect surf & turf : wagyu steak and Chilean sea bass - complete with accompaniments. The fish was flaky and the steak was perfectly seasoned, seared and medium rare. As I was setting up drinks, I was the last one at the table. The steaks were sitting there and everyone had stopped eating. When I asked how it was, I was told "Try it, tell us what you think". I sliced into the steak. It looked amazing. I bit in. BUT afte a chew, I stopped eating it. The beef was definitely 'off' andd spoiled - which explained why no one was eating it. Fortunately, it was surf & turf night so we still had enough to eat. But after paying wagyu prices and lovingly cooking the steak, the disappointment was beyond words. Obviously I will call the store as I want to make sure they pull the remaining inventory from theirr display. At this point, my husband is worried as he had three bites as he presumed the aftertaste was from the truffle sauce I had drizzled. Now, he's worried that he will get sick. I guess time will tell. So FYI --- make sure you check the original dates of the meat before they cut/vaccum seal. Long story short - I hope they read this and review their QA processs to ensure all meats are dated/rotated/stored.
