I used to eat Mark Pi's in college at Indiana State probably 3x a week in the union. I was really surprised to see one in Columbus I had not noticed before. I was a bit hesitant because it looks pretty bad from the outside and possible worse inside. LOL. But by then I was committed when I saw the menu was exactly the same 25 years later. Don't get me wrong. It is sketchy looking but the food was fantastic for fast service Asian fare. I had the empress chicken and the veggies were still crisp and were not old (sweet with a crunch), perfectly sauced fried rice and flipping sizzling hot. The chicken pieces were a little large but battered in a still crispy not oily batter which was light and crispy. Chicken entree with fried rice and large drink was ~$13 and it could have fed two avg ppl or one large man easily. I ate slowly while reading Reddit and was stuffed by the end. I checked their inspection scores. Good reports except with an issue labeling cleaners and cleaner bottles and cleaner storage. I didn't see anything related to food storage/handling etc. recently or in history. There are some great choices along Morse from Afghan, to Nepali, and Vietnamese and many others. Feel free to work this one in if you need a fast service rice bowl. Im eating this all around experience. It's not Aki Hana lol. I first ate at Mark Pi's when I attended Ohio State. 30+ years later when u come back to town I never miss stopping in to get House fried rice, egg rolls, and crab rangoon. Never in my life have I had a bad meal from this restaurant. The eggy bits in the rice are always fresh and soft the only way to tell it's age. In fact the fried rice is so good here it's my gold standard. Crazy, I know. I've eaten in some mighty fine Chinese restaurants but my heart always wants the best cheap Chinese food. And so far in all 50 states, Mark Pi's holds that medal. I've eaten more meals at this location than I can admit to. I've never had a bad meal, the staff are always friendly and helpful and very hard working. As for the drive through window being covered. It has a sign stating no refunds for meals returned after day of purchase. When I enquired how is this possible, the staff assured me they have people try all the time. I have been going to this place almost my whole life and they have my favorite food... lo mein. When you walk in, it may look empty, but their food is delicious. Their lo mein is very savory, saucy, and they give you a good amount of meat. I've also tried their fried rice and it is delicious. The people that own this place are so nice and make amazing food! It might just me but has this place changed? I used to love their food but lately it's been missing something. My usual go to order is vegetable lo mein, a side of steamed veggies tossed in General Tso sauce and a vegetable egg roll. In the past the sauce was always nice and spicy, I got plenty of dipping sauce for my egg roll and the lo mein had just the right amount of grease. But lately, I question whether my veggies were even tossed, my sauce cup for the dipping sauce is barely half full and the noodles lack taste. It just isn't what it used to be. Customer service is good and the wait in the drive thru is never long but I'll take sub par customer service and a little longer of a wait to have the Mark Pi taste that I remember in the past. 3 stars for portion size, customer service and value tho. read more

First of all they have their drive up window covered so you can't see in. ONE RED FLAG. The gentleman who took the order was very nice. The eggrolls were horrible. It looked like they dropped them in the grease to heat them up. Almost very very dark brown and horrible. I ordered the shrimp and something else eggroll. It had English peas in it. Go figure. My lunch here started out on a very positive note. I noticed the shirt that the gentleman who did most of the cooking had a saying on the back of it, "Woc In Roll." Anyway, I thought it was funny. And another thing I noticed about this store is that the whole staff is Asian. That boggled my mind. I was expecting to find a bunch of teenagers working. I ordered Sweet & Sour Pork with an extra $.50 for fried rice. The pork was tender, as was the rice. There were the same number of veggies in it that I'd get in any mainstream Chinese restaurant. I tried the drive-through after finding positive reviews here. I have eaten their #1 several times, and the first few times it did taste good. However, something (I think the oil used in the fried rice) gave me the "olestra effect" EVERY TIME which has never happened to me anywhere else or any other time. Google it if you don't know what I am referring to... The last time I got the #1, the chicken was rubbery and nasty and I actually think it was rotten. Had dinner with the family here tonight. Blown away. The service was great. The food was great. You won't find a better take out place with anything near this fresh. Made when you order the food. Not precooked like other fast food Chinese take out places. We had the chicken fried rice, chicken pad Thai, Mark Pi crispy chicken and crab Rangoon fried wontons. Also found out by the owner that they don't use MSG in any dishes which just means that the flavor comes from fresh ingredients and cooking skills. Recommend this place!! My favorite fast food chinese joint. I've been eating here most of my life and the food is on point to my liking. I recommend the Mark Pi's Chicken, a crispy chicken coated with citrus infused brown sauce (similar to orange Chkn but better IMO). A favorite is also the Hunan chicken or shrimp (an array of vegetables stir fried in a mild Hunan sauce). With drive thru service, you can get your food on the go if you don't feel like enjoying food inside listening to chinese instrumentals playing in the background. read more

Holy cow, I am new to the area & way too excited for drive-thru Chinese! I stopped here once out of pure curiosity & persuasion. I got the Mark Pi's chicken w/ steamed rice for $6.25. I believe it was $2.25 to add an egg roll & drink. Not a bad price for the amount of food you receive. The Mark Pi's was most similar to a sesame or General Tso chicken but not quite. Basic and great for trying it first. I am only giving 3 stars for now because there was a lot more breading than chicken but the flavor and portion was good. I was recently in town on business. I arrived during a snowstorm, and the roads were a little treacherous...so I looked on Yelp for something with a good rating and very near the hotel. This restaurant popped up, so I decided to give it a go. I have no real comments about the inside decor. It looked to be located in a former fast food restaurant...basic and quite clean. The guy taking orders could not be more unfriendly. I mention that specifically because everyone else I met in Columbus was so warm and friendly. This guy had serious social problem. But the food...that's what was really awful. I had an eggroll, hot and sour soup, and their version of General Tso's chicken. The eggroll was very greasy...so much so that it was inedible. What was supposed to be hot and sour soup was, well, I don't know what it was. It should have been dark, dark brown and really thick. This was beige, almost yellow...and watery. It was warm, but had no flavor. Since it at least didn't taste as nasty as it looked, I sipped it down to warm myself up. I then moved on to the chicken...well, no, I didn't. The chicken pieces were all cooked together into big clumps that couldn't be cut into smaller pieces. I gave up and opted to try my luck at the vending machine back at the hotel. Yuck. read more

Horrible. As a former Mark Pi's employee from my early teen years, I'm ashamed to see such lack of care in quality and preparation. Ordered 3 egg rolls, could've smashed all three together into a ball of over cooked frozen vegetables because it was so over cooked, greasy and mushy. Both the Hunan and Mongolian beef had a total of probably 9 pieces of small and slimy bits of old egg yolk and flour "marinated" beef. The wife's hot pepper chicken included a about 5 pieces of chicken that tasted sour. EVERY ingredient in ALL the meals were old and when over cooked made it even more disgusting. They sad part? We had to force our poor kids and ourselves to finish what we could because of the circumstances we were in due to time...Like some of the other yelpers, I too have been a customer here from years ago. They say good thing comes with age..sadly that isn't the case for this location as it appears to be going downhill fast. read more

I went to express mark pi's on Morse Road and ordered some shrimp fried rice. It was the most horrible experience that I've had the rice was very old. I asked for extra bean sprouts which resembled cooked worms..I asked and paid for extra shrimp which I didn't get..They're customer service sucked..They act like they don't speak and understand English but didn't have a problem saying 18 dollars and some change in English...But couldn't get my order correct...Just saying..Channel 6 on your side will be paying them a visit..Who want to be food posioned read more
